Hi. Looking for friends 60 and older to help keep us all motivated. Maybe checking in with each other every day to keep us on track. Just started yesterday, have to lose 30 lbs. The older u get the harder it seems to get.

I know what you mean. I gained weight from being inactive due to arthritis in hips. Hard to lose.55

Not quite 60, but will be this year! Have a good start so far with eating better and drinking water. Working up to adding exercise-slow and low, due to Myasthenia Gravis. Learning to listen to my body and what I need is a trip (roller coaster). Always an 'All In' sort, I am taking things at a gentler pace now, but finding what fits me:-). Talking about things that 'fit', MFP has been a help in tracking my intake:-). Wishing everyone success on this journey!!And joy while we do it:-). I love a challenge-but I need to see improvement to stay motivated!20

Just in to cheer everyone on, and express solidarity!
I'm 64 (and hypothyroid also), joined at age 59, lost about 50 pounds in a bit under a year, and have stayed at a healthy weight for 4+ years since (after being obese for over 3 decades).
MFP has been a great tool for me, better for me than any weight loss approach I had tried earlier in life, though I admit that this could be partly because the tool well suits my personality.
I think we do have some weight loss advantages at our age, not just extra challenges:
* We tend to know our own strengths and weaknesses pretty well, plus how to work with or around them; and
* We've usually had practice at working at other big goals (related to home, family, career, finances, etc.), so we know how to patiently chip away at a big goal, in small pieces, over a long-ish time period.

Welcome and good luck in gaining a healthier lifestyle!! I think, at 66, I've learned a lot over the years of what works vs. what doesn't, for me. And that, in itself, has been an education. Yo-yoing for 50 years has helped. Plus finding this site has been the best help yet.27

Hi, am 67 (an Aussie) and the heaviest I have ever been:(
I would love to, NEED TO, put 20 kgs somewhere else other than on me. I try to avoid saying lose weight because in my mind something that is lost needs to be found again and over the years I have been winning (losing) that game every round.
So, I want to dispose of 20kg. Good to be in a group of similar aged women (people) who have similar challenges...bad joints etc.
I don't want to be the fat grandma who won't get in the pool or needs to sit too often.
I originally joined this site 5 years ago when I was 10kg less, hell that weight looks good now!
I find it very hard to reach out for any help or support, so this in itself will be a challenge. I give it in spades but can't accept a spoonful back.

Hi, I'm new to the community. I want to lose about 20. 5+ years ago I had a gastric sleeve. Started at 260 and am now 20 lbs above my goal weight. I tried Noom trial and was very dissatisfied. I've been on Fitness Pal on and off for 5 years. Tracking really helps21

Hello everyone, I have been tracking and mostly keeping to my plan. I am using the CSIRO diet and it is interesting to compare what they say to eat and the figures that appear in the tables when the quantities are entered. Need to give that some thought. How is everyone going? Positive I hope. I think my favourite part of the tracking is the last sentence that says, 'If everyday was like today, you would weigh XX in 5 weeks!' What a little wake up call. Thanks to whoever gave me the hug. Stay positive, one day at a time.23

Hi everyone. I’m 60 and from Australia. In September last year I had my blood tested, and everything checked out ok, except my cholesterol is 7.1 when it should be 4.0! Dr said to aim for 5.5 in 6 months time, so my next test is in March. I’ve researched foods with good and bad fats, and changed my diet accordingly. I walk probably an hour each day at a brisk pace. I’m currently losing 1kg every 3 weeks, so I’m pretty happy with that. Although my BMI is ok, it’s on the high end of the scale. I’m losing belly fat too, which I was hoping for.22

Hi all! I’m 62 and have been using MFP off and on for a couple of years. Recently upgraded to premium because I really need to get serious about getting my weight back down—even 10 pounds would be nice. Seems like holidays and vacations come along too often and I just don’t recover well from them. Anyway, I’m happy to have found an over 60 group here. Let’s have a great 2020!18

Hey I am a 67 year old guy looking for an active group to post to. I have been on MFP a little in the past, but not for a long time. Years ago my peak weight was 360 lbs, my more recent high was 320 last year. I went on a good diet last May and am not down to 232, but seem to be on a plateau.
Anyway if y'all will have me and are active maybe this is the right place for me.35 -

Good morning! I will hit the milestone of 70 later this year! Every day above ground is a great day😅. I am working on loosing 14lbs. I have been using Walk Away The Pounds since the beginning of the year and for the first time I am participating in a "dry January" as well as keeping to my goals in MFP. Do far have lost 3lbs. Not looking for an instant weight loss ....slow and steady is the way for me. Would love to be part of this group, and some one on ones if anyone wants to to this...Have a great day everyone! Good morning, at least it is here in Eastern Australia, though somewhat smokey skies but hey only 33C today (almost 92F). All aboard, the more the merrier, we are all here for the same purpose. This morning while prepping brekky, I was thinking that I had been doing this for months and should be seeing better results and then thought, hang on this is only day 6. Suddenly it seemed like an overwhelming task but I reminded myself to be patient and persistent. Have a productive day wherever you are.7

Good morning! All quiet on the western front again I see. The end of week 1 and the scales (who are very fickle) say my weight has dropped 1.4 KG. I weigh daily so that I am familiar with the way my body can fluctuate from day to day. So, while happy that it is less than when I started, I am aware that this number is probably not that accurate in terms of genuine weight loss BUT it is far enough away from my starting weight to see there has been a drop. Time will start to produce truer readings.
So, I hope you all have a positive day regardless of the things that time and your body have left you to work with. Cheers.5 -

Hi all, I’m 64, will be 65 on 1/28. Someone mentioned bookmarking the page - how? I’m not finding this program very easy to find stuff. I did just find a recipe sharing blog. That, low carb, higher protein - I haven’t cooked in over 15 yrs - my husband does. Tho, he’s been slacking, so I can go weeks without a vegetable, unless McDonald’s fries count! He makes his own pizza crust, has the pizza oven outside, gets the pizzeria cheese and tomatoes from a restaurant supply place. This means Tu and Fr are pizza nights! Jason’s deli on mondays, Thursday’s usually a couple of beers or margs up at a taqueria. Saturday, I stop after 5:00 Mass and bring him a veal parm hero (sub sandwich for all non-NY’ers!), and an eggplant parm hero for me. All washed down with a few of Sauvignon Blanc. Glass at bar, more at home.
I just started this journey on 1/6/20. The plan says I’ll go from 184 to 17 in 5 weeks, if I keep eating like today. I just wolfed down 4 pieces of pizza from an excellent pizzeria, bc DH has a bad cold and came home early. I also stopped at Dunkin Donuts for an old fashion donut for lunch.
I went into guest room last night, Thank you, but I get enough germs at work. I’m a pediatric nurse practitioner. Of course every germy kid in the greater Atlanta area feels it’s their duty to cough in my face when I try to see their throats. Not even using the stick. Just, ‘open up real big for me’.
I’d love to join y’all while we whittle away to nothing! Hopefully, my cholesterol and LDL realize I’m on a diet. I don’t want the statins I was prescribed.
We went to an all u can eat sushi place on Sunday with another couple. She told me the 4 lbs I lost last week was ‘wine weight’, like water weight, but wine! Shes right. I drink so much water now and no wine.
Of course, while sipping, I was also eating pretzels, crispy Cheetos and pita chips - all in same bowl. Maybe 1-2 bowls with wine. Before dinner. I’m easily not eating probably 2K+ in extra calories just from not having ‘happy hour’!
My Medicare went into effect 1/1. A benefit is free gym membership - Silver Sneakers. I’m going to go to a gym some girls from Church go to. I went and got the app last week. Now I have to fill it out and start.
Thank God, this is a family owned gym, used to be a Golds gym. In mid afternoon, no skinny little young things. Women our age, in tee shirts and Lycra bottoms. Just my speed. I can also join LA Fitness, and might bc they have yoga, but then it’s a meat market atmosphere, and I’m well past my sell by date!

Hello, I am 62 and the fattest I have ever been. I am terrible at logging my food intake but know it must be done. I have decided to use this app no matter what and have joined a challenge to walk a certain number of miles in a year. I need a goal and fellow travelers that understand trying to do this at this age. My mother died of congestive heart failure two years ago and I don’t want that to happen to me. I would love to be a fellow traveler.13
