I weigh daily so that I am familiar with the way my body can fluctuate from day to day. So, while happy that it is less than when I started, I am aware that this number is probably not that accurate in terms of genuine weight loss BUT it is far enough away from my starting weight to see there has been a drop. Time will start to produce truer readings.
So, I hope you all have a positive day regardless of the things that time and your body have left you to work with. Cheers.
I have “Weigh-in Wednesday”, so that’s the only day I weigh myself. I then wait for the next Wednesday to verify my weight has actually dropped, then I’ll log the first Wednesday as a true weight.7 -
Well, I'm 66 and hanging in there. Can't decide if I'm at GW or not; it's taking everything I have to nudge the scale down at all. I do really well all day long, then the magic hour(s) come right before bed and all I want to do is munch munch munch. It's all too easy to add another 300 calories to my day. I'll be so glad when it stays lighter later than 5:00 p.m. and I am outside more often and I really can't wait to start another garden!!! You'd think somebody who doesn't like the long winters would move someplace else but I'm such a homebody. I still live a 5 minute walk from my childhood home.
One day at a time and one foot in front of another.11 -
Wow nice to see some chat on this site, we all have things to overcome as well as our goal to reduce weight. Welcome to the new 'faces'.
Bookmarking this page: at the top of the page on the right hand side there are three icons, a bell (notifications), a star (hit this to bookmark the page) and a wheel/cog (to mess around with settings). When you hit that star, a yellow one appears on the right hand side level with the name of this group.
Logging food: what an eye opener this is! Worth doing as it is so easy to kid yourself that you have not overeaten. I have learned this from experience by saying, 'oh a couple of crackers can't be that much' until I log them! Sometimes I log before I eat then I can see the impact, then put the food away and delete the entry.
This site: best way I have found to learn about this site is to just explore it and have a look under the headings. you can't do anything 'wrong' but you do fond some interesting things. Sometimes I never find them again though! Keep looking.
Yep we all need to make serious changes to the way we operate if we are to be successful. My mum is deteriorating with heart failure also and that is not a path I want to take.

Hi another new face! you must be a northern Hemisphere person. Currently the sun is not setting till after 8pm here but going outside has been a no no due to heat and smoke! At present, the idea of a long winter sounds great! Must be great to be so close to GW! The dreaded munchies and it is so tempting not to log them!
Well bed time here, I have both grandsons in the morning for a few hours, 3ys and the other 9 months....too much energy! Stay strong everyone.3 -

Good afternoon all! Nothing like a visit from grandchildren to burn some energy! Interesting question about the thirty pounds, 13.6 kg in my part of the world. A thought for today.....

The scale can certainly be the enemy some days!!! LOL But then there are the days after a successful week when it can also make us smile and feel great achievement. 😅 Wishing everyone success!!8

Good morning ladies and gentleman! Hi to the new faces, good to hear from you.
I must say when we all achieve our our goals there are going to be some happy, healthier faces around. But without trying to put a downer on it, keeping in that state will be an ongoing task. Like mowing the lawn, there is always upkeep. The road to success is never smooth I have discovered many times, sometimes we go a bit backwards before we move forwards.
Before I recently had some sudden issues with those beautiful varicose veins in my legs, I was churning out about 12000 steps a day, now it is half that but today I have vowed to move just 100 extra steps an hour and that should boost my total be 1500 for the day and I won't even notice.
I wish everyone a productive, positive day.

So, how is everyone going? Still working away at it I hope. Have a day that makes you happy and healthier!

Not a very verbal group is it?

What has happened to everyone? How are you all going, progress? regress? Let's hear from you, remember we are supposed to be each other cheer squad but so far it is the sound of one hand clapping. Have a productive day.

How are you doing?3 -
Still just galumphing along, maintenance mostly, but pursuing ultra-slow loss. Finished 200k/124mi rowing machine Concept 2 holiday challenge between Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. Now backed off to something that's for me a less physically depleting overall volume, short machine rowing 2-3 times/week, plus twice a week spin class.
Trying to add back some strength training: So important, but an effort of will for my hedonistic self! I like being strong but don't enjoy lifting, and am lazy in these short, gloomy US Great Lakes Winter days - sigh. Starting with higher reps, at low weight to condition into it, and prioritizing upper body push (complements imbalance of rowing).
Need to back off some indulge-y recent eating/drinking, which looks easier (social schedule wise) - I hope - after tomorrow.
Weight looking like this lately:
They're saying it could be down to 7 degrees F (about -14C) here tonight, so I'm about to crawl into my cozy bed, and tuck in tight.
Wishing everyone much success, easy and smooth progress! :drinker:

I’m new. Well, new to Premium. Add me. I don’t know how to add friends yet! I’m your age, Cherylere. I need to lose 15-20 pounds. I want to see how I look first at 15 pounds lost. As one gets older, you can lose too much in the face. I really like this APP a lot. I’ve had trouble in the motivation department lately. I got into some bad habits over the holidays and some added stress made things worse. I’m rediscovering healthy foods and portion control.
PS How does one send a friend request?5 -
Yes, cold dark winters don't do much for the inspiration. I should've been a bear. That's the life I'd prefer this time of year; hide out in my cave and sleep. Yesterday turned into a binge last night. I get so mad at myself for losing control. Why can't I just have that LITTLE scoop of ice cream and call it good?? But no, I have to glob a whole bunch of extra stuff on top, then because it still hasn't satisfied me I head back to the kitchen for more, more, more of whatever I can pull out of wherever. It's amazing what you can binge on in an hour.
BUT the good news is I have my mind control back this morning, ate my usual healthy breakfast, walked on the TM, weighed myself(up a lb.) and will keep at it.
I even entered all new stats so I feel like I'm restarting. Hopefully it'll keep me straight and narrow.
Good luck to everyone here and make it a good day with NO(or very little) regrets!!4 -

Hi, I'm 65, retired teacher, looking to slowly lose weight and become more active. Add me if you like to give and receive support! I started my own blog, mostly so I can watch my progress and maybe take pics of my meals if blogs allow that.3

Today is an off day despite some walking and light treadmill walking. Otherwise, things are ok. Although not every single day, my exercise has been more consistent than it has been in many years and most days I come in under my calorie goals and manage to not deny myself. My November lab numbers were all improved. I had a gastro screening two weeks ago that was clean and good. My weight has been hovering between 238 and 240 for a bit, but that is bothering not one single bit as I continue doing these things and I am NOT hovering in the 281 lb area as I was this time last year. Since my 2019 hip replacements, I have been as close to "walking on air" as any human can!6

Your doing amazing onwardsxand upwards my friend.1 -
Hi Everyone. Today is Weigh-in Wednesday for me and I've lost another kg, which is great. I'm also well into reducing my kJ intake that thinking about overeating is a thing of that past. Hopefully it stays that way! I juggle the foods for lesser kJ so that I can make way for a special treat, and that's Tomek's cheesecake. I baked this last week and have sliced portions in the freezer.
I also got a pair of 3kg barbells so that I can improve my arm strength. I found this "5 exercises to tighten and tone your arms" useful with the animations to show what to do. I'm ok doing 10 Bicep Curls, but struggling with the others. Lets see how I'm doing in a month's time.
Good luck to all you people out there having a go. Stick with it. You can do it!7 -
Oh wow, wow, wow!! So great to see so many of you here again. So exciting to read how you are progressing. It was getting lonely.
To those freezing in the northern Hemisphere....36C here today! I so understand the temptation to comfort binge eat in the cold though and ice cream oo la lla! Delicious. We all do it sometimes, no sense in beating yourself over it. As Scarlet O'Hara said, 'tomorrow is another day'.
Sounds like there is lots of exercise happening too, you inspire me ladies and gents! Seems the one thing we all (mostly) have in common are those worn out body parts, not easy to work with. I only walk as lots of other things are not knee and shoulder friendly but my Fitbit keeps me hopping. Before each hours ends I jump up and do 10 minutes of walking to add to what else I have done. Sure ups the step count.
My weight movement is slow though but generally heading in a downward direction. I tend to eat too much protein according to the table but that stops me eating too much of anything else that would be worse. It seems to be a balancing act and we need find how to adjust to make it work for us.
Keep up the great work everyone. As far as keeping cheesecake portions in the freezer, if that was me it would go like this.........I know who you are and I will find you and eat you.
Till next time.

Trying something new - eating more!1

Can't wait to hear how it goes! I essentially follow the CSIRO food plan and you eat lots BUT only of the most beneficial foods. Hope it is a success for you.

I so enjoy the quotes. They are all so true. I am doing good with the exercise but can't seem to stay consistent with the eating. I have a good day of controlled eating then the next day I start out well only to binge later on in the day. I'm working on trying to eat healthy foods and stay away from the sugar which tends to be my downfall. It was a good day today so hopefully I can pull that off again tomorrow. Wishing you all a healthy eating day tomorrow.1
-
Glad you enjoy the quotes! I started off really well yesterday but went to afternoon tea with friends, which lasted 6 hours and just nibbled, olives, nuts, cheese, crackers, dried fruit a glass of wine! Not saying these are not good foods but not en masse. Too much salt I think as my weight jumped 1/2 kg this morning. That has to be fluid after the salty foods. Working on being more consistent with regular exercise, I think that is really slowing any weight drop.
Have a productive day everyone!

I aslo meant to add that I don't feel all that great today. I think my body missed all the vegies I usually have every day.3
