What features would you be willing to pay a little extra for?

It's 100% free to accept that typos and misunderstandings about spelling will happen online, especially when you're gathering people from a variety of countries and backgrounds.
I work with and forum with a lot of ESL people and IME it is native English speakers who make these types of mistakes.
I notice a lot of UK people say loose weight, which I find quite odd.4 -
I'd pay for food filtering options. Let users create all the "homemade" bananas they want, but give me a way to search official database entries exclusively and blacklist items.

I was more or less just kidding around and would never correct a post, but based on my 20 years of reading finance (and more recently weight loss) boards, the lose/loose error has to be the most common of all.2

Sure, native English speakers come from a variety of backgrounds just as non-native speakers do. My general feeling is that if I know what someone is trying to say, the conversation can just continue (unless they're looking for my specific editorial input). It's not really harmful.
Obviously, other people can choose different policies.5 -

I tend to agree. The only time I'll comment is if there is such a blatant lack of punctuation that the post is hard to read/comprehend. I view forums as a pretty informal environment/communication tool, so there's no real need to critique spelling and grammar most of the time.5 -

Right, I saw your post as tongue-in-cheek
My spelling has gotten worse since I've been foruming. I never used to make here/hear their/there type mistakes.3 -

Sorry, I took you too seriously!0 -

It would need to be a complete database as well. For example, the MFP-created entry "Egg, whole, raw, fresh" has been missing for a few years. I still have it in my Recent, but need to use a user-created entry in the Recipe Builder.

Best to follow MFP policy which prohibits correcting or criticizing how others post.
I WON'T:
I won’t be a jerk.
I will not attack, mock, or otherwise insult others. I can respectfully disagree with the message or topic, but I cannot attack the messenger. This includes attacks against the member’s spelling or command of written English, belittling a member for posting a duplicate discussion, or attacking a member for posting in an older discussion. (ie. It’s lose not loose, strong first post, didn’t you already post this today, etc.) Not every member has the same level of education, so I’ll refrain from criticizing a member for not framing their content in a manner befitting a university-level science paper.
I won’t pick apart how something is said; I will focus on the meaning/message.12 -

This^^ all day long. Some way to differentiate. Even if it is a different color text that would work: or a second list completely. That doesn't seem to be that hard of a fix. No idea why it has to be difficult. When Mike owned the site, there was an asterisk that was in front of all the user-entered ones and the admin-entered ones didn't have the asterisk. (Or was it the other way 'round?)
I wanted to come back and say...I wouldn't pay much for it. Like maybe $0.49. I have all the foods I use and I know how to make new ones, so I long ago made peace with the quirky nature of the database.
Can we move on now from the lose/loose thingy?
Also, where do I mail my $0.49? Because there's no way to contact anyone who has any authority.8 -
A sync that works correctly with Apple Watch... I’m a former Premium member that is now using another paid app for my logging, for this reason. I still like MFP for the forums but the lack of functionality was killer,2

It should all be free - all the time.3

cause that garlic entry gets me every single time!3 -

If something's free, we are usually the actual product. Interestingly, upgrading free services generally doesn't seem to roll back any of the value we 'get to' provide in return.7 -
I pay for the premium because I felt the site is valuable enough to me to support it, but for that price I sure would like them to fix my account so it would start posting my weight losses again. Just stopped a year and a half ago and can't get anyone to respond to me on fixing it.
And the clean up of the food database would be amazing.7 -

Pretty much always, with the exception being government and non-profit provided services, and, to some degree, free apps offered to assist you in spending money for a service (say, apps that let you locate a brick-and-mortar store in a given chain and place an in-app order) or to use an online service that you pay for (e.g., Spotify or Netflix on your phone). Any of those probably still use the data gathered for maximizing their revenues, just as a brick-and-mortar store uses general sales info and info linked to reward cards to maximize revenues.1 -
I love MFP, but use another app to log. I would switch back if the diary entries were accurate and I could track ALL nutrients (important if you’re vegan).4

I wish I could use another app for logging, but I only do it in short bursts and keep coming back here. I like that this one has both a desktop and a smartphone app, that I can easily copy meals from yesterday or use saved meals, and that there are times when the messed up database comes in handy when I'm trying to log some weird foreign brands or local foods. I basically go back and forth using an app, getting tired of some aspect of it, switching to another, and so on.0 -

It is very common here. Not sure why.0 -

loose is not the same as lose, whether you are from the UK or the US..... when you LOSE weight, your pants become LOOSE. See? not the same. English is English with little variation (ie: the proper English 'ou' instead of 'o' in certain words).
pet peeve of mine.
There are many grammar pet peeves of mine, actually.... lets be thankful I don't point them out and just think internally that the person is an idiotlol
