Ivs found some asics on sale - same ones I currently have, but they only have standard width and I need a D. They have mens on sale (and at a cheaper price #pinktax). I see mens are D width standard. Any ladies bought mens shoes? How many sizes do you go down?
Men's sizes are typically 2 sizes down from the women's size. Ex: Women's 9 would be a men's 7. You might look into New Balance, as they are a lot better about having a variety of wide width to choose from. If you go the men's shoe route and find the heels are too wide, try Nike's for a brand. They tend to run more narrow. Best of luck!
Actually, @avidkeo, @Crafty_camper123 makes a good point. I too have a wide Kiwi foot, and after years of running in Asics I made the switch to New Balance at my podiatrist's recommendation. Best. Thing. Ever.
I have the NB Impulse for speedwork (4mm drop), currently on sale for $156: https://www.newbalance.co.nz/pd/fuelcell-impulse/WFCIM-V1-NZ-MBG.html?dwvar_WFCIM-V1-NZ-MBG_color=Black_with_Phantom#color=Black_with_Phantom&width=D and NB Freshfoam 1080 for longer runs (8mm drop) currently on sale for $168: https://www.newbalance.co.nz/search?q=fresh foam 1080&prefn1=genderAndAgeGroupCombo&prefv1=Women. Both in the wide fit (these links are for the W fit)

My most famous pair of running shoes are a New Balance, 770. But they don't make that range anymore and when I got fitted last, in September, none of the New Balance felt right. Hence moving to the Asics. Ive got the Gel Kayano 24 and also adore them. They've been great.
My biggest dillema is its a couple of months before I'm going to town next to try on shoes. Everything ive read about the Kayano 25's is the fit is pretty much the same as the 24's, so I'm less worried about buying them on line. And with my tendonitis issue, I have to make sure Ive got something that stops me rolling in. Stupid annoying picky feet.
Finally I found a place with an awesome return policy (the athletes foot @Contrary_MaryM) - though I LOVE New Balances return policy more (they will let you return them within 30 days no matter the condition!!!).
ETA oh and now I know I get 5 months out of shoes, you bet your butt anytime I'm in town Ill be buying a new pair (or 2) cause this is soooo frustrating. I'm going to have to use my under armour shoes for the next week or so. they are fine, but give me blisters when I do any runs longer than 8km.4 -
Wasn't feeling good all day, and when I saw it was almost 80F, I almost didn't go out. But decided since it was going to be the last run this week (in Texas), and mother nature seemed like she was getting me ready for Florida, I may as well do a slow run. Turns out I forgot 80F in February isn't the same as 80F in July. Felt like one of the easiest 10Ks I've done in a while. Running cures all!17

So today was ridiculous compared to last week. Last week we were dealing with -27F(-33 C) and today it was 60F (16 C)!
During my lunch walk though I found plenty of ice on my normal trail:
So when I ran later I took a different route. What I call the "high road" - because it is like 10 or 20 feet higher than the trail I prefer, it is also very much crowded. But with all that ice I had little choice. Mud and slush I can deal with, ice that is slick enough to ice sake on in hiking books is a different game. One I did not want to play.
So I am coming back in from my run. It is 55F (13C)at the finish of my run. Sun has just set, I am wearing a heat gear t-shirt, would have been in shorts had I had them... and MITTENS! LOL Gotta love Raynaud's!

Popping in before work for some advice. I definitely have to get new shoes - todays run included pain in my knees, and when I look down in can see some inward rolling. Sigh. I'd really hoped to wait another 2 months.

Most of my shoes are men's because of the wide width. I've noticed some vanity sizing going on recently, so if you can, try them on in-store. I went from being a size 9/9.5 in men's to a size 8/8.5, and it's absolutely not because my feet have shrunk (don't I wish, though!). The brands I bought are New Balance and Nike for running, but find that I like Nike a lot better because NB seems to have gotten even bigger in the heel than what I remember from years before. Plus, Nike gives me more arch support. Which is weird, because my arches are pretty flat and I usually appreciate the flatness of NB, but the last pair were pulling my ankles in.3 -
Back at it again. Fell short of my insanely low goal last month (5.2/10 miles). But I found THE pair of shoes and my knee is feeling pretty good. Goal this month is 10 miles again.11

Wow, 61 degrees high temp today which is a crazy swing from a couple of days ago when it was below 0. I left work early so I could walk the dog before a conference call and then my run group. The walk was so nice and I saw a ton of happy people out running in shorts. I was a little sad to wait until after dark to do my run with the group tonight. It got a little chillier but was still around 50 by that time. Our workout was a 15-minute tempo run, with warmup, cooldown and 4 sprints. I wasn't sure my knee was up to trying speedwork so I started conservatively but it felt okay. I picked up the pace a bit in the second half. Overall felt pretty good and it was so nice not to be freezing cold that I felt like the whole workout flew by.
Pull-up challenge workout - rest day today.

So true! I was sort of dreading running in the “heat” but it felt so much nicer than I expected! Nice to not have to worry about layers and whatnot, too.

That is nothing new. I wear anything from a men's like 9 to a men's 12 pending on brand, style, and so on. Shoe sizes have always been highly variable, at least in my lifetime.4 -
Got out for my usual 1.5 mile loop around the neighborhood. Nice and easy. My Strava does not reflect that. It credited me almost 0.4 mile extra and calculated my pace at some ridiculous number that there was no way I was doing. I fixed the distance because I know the length of that loop. Then I updated the Strava app, restarted my phone and restarted my watch. Hopefully that fixes whatever was going on there. So weird.

Short and easy today. The HR on my watch wasn't working -- on hills I knew I was hitting mid to high-150s, I was getting a read of about 132. Not cool. I also went to the gym and did my strength routine before this run, so I think that plus yesterday's workout left my legs feeling like absolutely garbage for the run. Oh well!
We'll be in the 60s (F) tomorrow and I don't work Tuesdays, so I'll be hitting the trails for a few hours to soak up some sunshine. Super pumped!

Woohoo! I finished the Sally push-up challenge with my hands elevated on a chair seat. My arms are now noodles. Next go through I will try it on stairs, one step down from the height of a chair seat.
Today was a lifting day not a run day, but the weather made me wish I was running! It was so warm outside that I saw a bat! It's supposed to freeze two days from now, I hope all the little creatures that came out for the warm spell don't get hurt.14 -
Dang. I am such a t-rex. I failed the Sally Challange. Beat about 1/2 the peeps in the video though!

Warm enough here just north of you that when I got home dh had the ac on. Ahhh but it never lasts, it’ll be 20 again before we know it.
Which by the way, the ac didn’t work. We had a new thermostat put in and it must be wired wrong. Glad to find out now rather than when the real warm weather sets in.5 -

5/5 Vancouver BMO half marathon?
@sarahthes I’m getting firmer in the plan to run the Vancouver half, and working on enlisting some other friends to join in—thanks for the note!!
We had a surprise snow day today, and I spent a huge chunk of the weekend working so took the kids snowboarding. Too bad the new snow only fell in and around the city, and not really on the mountain! But the runs were blissfully empty.
First week of Hal Higdon’s Novice 1 Half training program and conditions were crazy for Seattle today: 26 degrees and totally icy everywhere. I ended up in some really flexible hiking boots to get it done with a little better traction, but it was a pretty nice if slow run (especially considering what the midwesterners have been dealing with!)

As per I’m about 300 messages behind. I’m going for 40km this month, I managed my 31km last month so I’m going to try increase it.
4/2 - 10km
Total to date 10km10 -
Nothing like a lot of you are/have been dealing with, but when I hit the river paths this morning there was frost on the ground. Frost, on the southern coast of Spain. Of course, I was in absolutely no way prepared for that so I couldn't feel my fingers or ears by the time I was done. Needless to say, for the first time in weeks I felt like a runner again :-D
Super excited about being allowed to run for eight consecutive minutes twice on Thursday, and 20 whole minutes in a row at the weekend! Ah, life is good today lol.
1/02: W4D2
2/02: Upper body strength workout
3/02: W4D3
4/02: Toned & curvy body workout
5/02: W5D1

I’m still lurking and reading, but not doing much posting. Went out for an hour on Sunday, which was a bit meh. It’s funny, because last weekend I was very active – running, hiking 11miles through a load of waterfalls then whizzing back home to change and get to a friends house for supper, then last weekend I did very little and felt meh. I think there is a lesson there somewhere…..
This morning’s run was speedwork. I went back to my ON Cloud shoes, because the Inov-8’s I wore on Sunday made my calves hurt, my hamstrings hurt, and flared warning signs of PF. Speedwork is now based on feel, because my TomTom seems to have only vague ideas about pace and throws random figures at me. So the second thing I have learnt recently is:- I need new running shoes
- I need new trail running shoes for multi-day hikes
- I need a new sports watch.
I am not sure of all of the above are possible in February
