Dreams don’t have deadlines. And I’m trying to remember that every day.3

Hope everyone is doing well. It's been a quiet thread1

I’m new at joining these threads, and have used MFT 10 years ago to drop some weight. Well, over time and aging, it has all come back on and I HAVE to get it off again. I know this is needed for my health as I get older; and to just feel good again. I started on my own Jan 2 (with my daughter as my sole cheerleader), just made my 35th log in today and down 11 lbs. I know what I need to do meaning: better food choices, watch portions and plan, and get moving. The first two are going ok as long as I stay focused, but the get moving is hard. I was recuperating from two surgeries for the past six months and have really lost so much stamina; so really feel starting over with just daily chores and some very light exercise. I will try this thread and read everyone’s comments to help me and to maybe help someone else out there struggling too. So until later, hang in there everyone, we all didn’t get this way ‘overnight’ and it will take time to overcome our battles; but it is DOABLE!5

Some of you are offering to ‘add as friend’, does that allow us to see each other’s daily log completions, etc? If yes, I need to figure out how to do so....1
-
It really does help with friends. I want to log in all the time and it is so encouraging to see other reaching goals.2
-
Same. Haha!0

How do you add someone to friends? Can someone add me I really need a motivation buddy, challenge buddy and all that!! 😁 So serious!! Lol2
-
Hi all ya new to this thread! I still feel very new myself.
Yes, adding a person as friend brings their comments and activities for the day to your home page.
Please feel free to add me.
For some reason I have trouble adding from my phone.
Personally, I like coming to this thread and having conversations, encouragement, share successes, look for recommendations. After about 2 weeks, I'm thinking it's all what we make of it.1 -
I'd be happy to have new friends on here; I've lost half a stone since the New Year, with just over another stone to go before I reach target - but of course it's slowed down a lot now! I'm walking a lot, beginning to add in some strength training exercises, I've cut out alcohol completely, and am being very sensible with my food (although I don't track as often as I should). It'd be nice to see others achieving their goals in my feed, not just my own updates. The big thing this year is that I've ditched the fitbit after years and years of using a tracking device; I felt I was focusing too much on how many steps I was doing, and incidental all day long calorie burn, instead of actual heart pumping, sweat inducing activity. I feel very free! Feel free to add me if any of that sounds like your kind of fitness friend.1

Came back recently too.... 37 days in and still determined, although things are moving SLLLOOOWWWWLLLY! ADD AWAY!

Welcome back! I've been on here over 4 years - failed often and learned from each one, just all part of the process.

Hey, you haven't quit yet! You're good at starting... now be good at finishing!
Feel free to add me... I'm starting (again) too, but I think I'll find success the more I get engaged, and accountable. So add away! For those asking how to add, click the blue name under the person's profile pic, and you'll see a page with their name and icon. Click the blue name again, and another screen will pop up with various options. One of them should be "Add as a friend". Click that, send an intro message (I do, I think that's just polite), and you're set!
There's probably an easier way, but that's my way.5 -

Hi all! Making my weekly ride through the community boards. Staying motivated via participation. @CSARdiver - I love that acronym! I am going to make that my mantra this week.1
-
Just added you! I love all the random, amazing, motivated, and dedicated people I've connected with on MFP. Through all my ups and downs, good days and bad, there's always someone here to inspire me, or console me, or just make me feel like I'm not alone.
Welcome friend :-)1 -
So true, having MFP community is really helping me.

A realization I had today: I am falling back into the habit of not going to the gym after work since falling on the ice last week. Not tonight!! I will be there, cannot get back into the bad habit of not going.1

Hi all. I am back at it again as well. Lost around 30 lbs a couple of years ago and it has just about all crept up on me again. Started slacking on food, just couldn't maintain my weight. Changing from an active job to a sedentary one didn't help. Still trying to exercise, sigh. Here is to starting again!1
-
@tuffntenda glad you popped in. I have found this to be a quiet, slow thread, but I find the subject do important.
Being 57 years old and going through this so many times over the past 20 years, talking to others that can understand the frustration and/or discouragement of it is helpful.
Not sure how long your struggle has been, but 88 times also caught your attention;)1 -
It’s Friday and close to the weekend, which is the hardest time for me to stay on track with watching my calories. Seems I do pretty good during the week, but oh those weekends can be really hard. Hang in there everyone, we CAN do this and get these pounds OFF. I’m also wondering if any of you ‘older’ friends are having the struggles I am, in that when I lost a good chunk of weight about 20 years ago-it came off quicker and seemed easier (although at the time I know it wasn’t). I hate that with age, the metabolism changes, but those cravings still continue. Younger friends, get the weight off now and work to keep it off; as it really is true it is harder as you get older!!!!2
-
I'm here AGAIN too!!! 8 is my favorite number, so 88 must mean something! HA!! I've saved this post, hoping that I can get these pesky 20 pounds off....... and yes, @Longing4Maui - the older we get, the harder it is!!! Not until I hit 45 did I have trouble getting weight off.....and now I'm 50 so it's really hard
I just started back this week........CICO is the way to go!!! I also started back at the gym, 2 classes this week.
We can do this!! Feel free to add me as well3 -
Count me in also. First time back on here in almost 3 years. Can't count t how many times I have "tried" to start in between. This is the real deal this time.
Recently single mom of 3. Need to fall in love with myself again.
Add me and we can make this fun and challenging.

Feel free to add me. I've been on and off since 2011. This time I've been doing it for a year and 2 months and lost 62lbs so far x4
-

-
I’m starting again lost count how many Rhône’s though. I have tried lots of diets and classes but nothing seems to work ☹️ please add me need all the help I can get x1
-
I'm in. Maybe if I have some encouragement/accountability buddies I'll quit falling off the wagon.1
-
Hi all! I just had a baby and now need to lose 30 lbs. Feel free to add me!1
-
I’ll be friends. Like you this is my umpteenth time. I am going back to the only program that has worked for me. In ‘99 I gave quick weight loss centers a try. From April 15 to November 18 I lost 85 pounds. THEN... I had a daughter born 3 months premature and the hospital she was in was the other side of Atlanta from where I lived, so food was grab a burger and drive to the hospital for 3 months. Since then (1999) I have done, several diets. On January 13 this year (2019) I went back to Quick weight loss centers. Since start I have lost 20 pounds. Let the accountability and mutual support begin!!!4
-
Hello 88th timers! I missed logging in my food for 3 days. Feel like I am AGAIN starting again!!0
-
