@MountainTopMom, happy belated birthday!! My mom died at 56. Way too young for your parents. Sorry for that loss in your life.1

Is it too late to join? I'm starting over again myself. Lost 30 pounds last year and then lost my way over Thanksgiving and Christmas. Then January came and went. Then I noticed it was the middle of February and I still haven't done anything! Have been trying to find the willpower to just get started again and finally drew a line in the sand and said Today is the day. Starting slowly.4

I hope that you will find us to be supportive. I'm the sort of person who sits and researches and reads around a subject, and the latest research shows that willpower is over-rated. The real secret of thin people is that they don't have the "naughty" treats easily to hand, and most importantly don't buy excess amounts of them for a celebration. So it's fine not to have the willpower, as long as you don't have cupboards full of temptation..2 -
@MountainTopMom I'm sure it's such a bittersweet time. Hugs and love to you my Colorado Friend. I agree that age is a state of mind and the healthier our bodies the younger our minds - Seize the Day1

Snowy, rainy here in Ohio. Temperature has been below 0 to over 60 in the last month. Crazy.2 -

Snowing in southern Idaho today, too. I have to remind myself that snow in the winter turns into water in the rivers in the summertime.3 -

We"re getting snow here in New Hampshire overnight into tomorrow making the morning commute not so fun....I like that reminder @alteredsteve175 that the snow turns into water in the rivers!!
Stay warm!4 -
I am 48, feel free to add me.

Hope everyone’s having a good week so far. No snow on the coast, just some rainy days and colder temps. It’s suppose to be 70 tomorrow, so that’ll be great. 😊2

Ok let’s hear from everyone, I finished under my calorie goal with 38 remaining and walked 3.02 km’s yesturday. It was hard fighting that urge to go over my cal’s but, I held the temptation off!! Day 2 of the fresh start begins!! Everyone have a great day!6

Great job brother, you stuck it out.
I'm totally dialed during the week, but weekends can be a real struggle. For me personally I try to think in terms of food substitution vs, food denial. Some days though.. it's a full time job to not eat what I want.
50 isn't so bad, and I try to remind myself of what's more important, this peanut butter sandwich (insert any food here), or do I want to look a certain way, or achieve a certain goal.

I'm the same way. During the week I can usually stick to it, not a lot of free time between work and the gym. On the weekends I have too much time to sit around and it seems like I'm always hungry. Try to stay busy, but it is tougher in the winter.4 -
I am new here on MFP! But not to weight loss. I'll be 56 next month, I'm female and 6" tall. My heaviest weight recorded was
400 lbs, I am now at 297 lbs and I have been stuck here for quite a while. My own fault, because I allowed personal issues to get in the way and give up. Very thankful to God that I aslo didn't gain all that weight back. Determined to start a new with mfp in this new year. Would love to join your group! Anyone who would like to feel free to add me.6 -

I totally here you on this. I live in the mountains, so winters are long, snowy, and dark. pretty much done for this year. For me personally, the key is staying busy. But, that being said; you've gotta live a bit right?2 -
Good luck Partyperson! The choice to get started is an amazing choice in itself!1
-
I'm baaaaack!! Logging food and counting calories is the only way I've successfully lost weight in the past. And for some odd reason, August has historically been my successful start month for weight loss. But, I'm hoping that this year the mid-February start will be golden.7

I'm in, and I need HELP!!!4

This group is really growing! Apparently a lot of 50+ in the same boat!
I am happy to report that my Achilles Tendonitis is FINALLY getting better and I have started my long walks again. What a joy it is to walk without pain! I will never take it for granted again.7 -
@tensquaredlives, great news about your walk! I was able to get two walks in this week and it felt so good to do without too much knee pain. I feel the same as you do about not taking it for granted!4
