Got my last run in this evening, and all went well. I was pretty hungry because a nutty workday made me skimp on lunch, but my son is in an afternoon cooking club, and every Thursday he brings home treats, so at least I have plenty of calories left to spare for whatever they came up with.. but I was a bit less energetic for the run than I might have been.. it was beautiful though, and not too cold. And I think I’m going to hop on over to the March thread and up my goal to 50

I ran after work today. It was just too cold for me this morning, and work was too busy for a lunchtime run. It was still pretty cold this afternoon and I felt both cold and hot at the same time. One thing about the summer heat, you always know how to dress for it. But I did get 4.3 miles in to finish out February. Now on to March.

Ended the month with 120, better than goal but not quite to stretch goal. Oh well was sick and had to run on treadmill for several days. Hopping to March thread.11

@mbaker566 one of these days I'll make it to the track, it's right by my work so it would be convenient.
With the lights, I'm six minutes away from the track... 2 falls in 2 miles last Sunday, decided it was best to start using the track. Sigh. Stupid ice5 -

Wasn't carrying anything. Had warm lined gloves. Didn't really happen until I got inside. I think it is caused by a sudden change in temperature.
Yes, I knew I have Raynaud's. Sometimes it is worse than others.
I have Reynaud's as well, so that photo looks all too familiar. There isn't too much documented information on the causes (other than that I have a known auto-immune disorder), but I do believe that sudden core temperature changes seem to have a huge effect for me as well. It doesn't seem to have as much to do with what I have on my hands, as much as being able to keep my core temperature balanced. When it's cold, a nice, tight base layer is essential. I have found that putting on a dry, very tight fitting shirt after my run seems to help a lot with the after effects. In the summertime, I wear a jacket in the grocery store to prevent it from happening.4 -

28 - 4 miles - Neighborhood run! Finished the month 16 miles under goal, weather played a huge factor in getting outside in February (I don't treadmill). On the plus side, I completed a 10 minute plank and 100 squat challenge and did calisthenics via videos on YouTube about 3-4 times a week.

Hey folks, I'm still around! I've been keeping up with your posts on my phone but haven't had a chance to post since I've been away from my PC, trail racing, visiting my daughter, stuck in Des Moines for two nighs because the blizzard shut down the interstate for two days, at construction sites for work, and being buried by work.
I plan to get a race report out tonight or tomorrow, with some awesome photos by the professionals the RD hires for every race.
I finished my month well short of my goal mostly due to work, but I'm happy to break 100. More importantly, I'm happy my foot is feeling fantastic, since I had some concern going into my race.
With 4 to 6 inches of snow this afternoon I'm eager to get off work and go run in the beautiful stuff!

@girlinahat and @PastorVincent That's exactly what I'm scared off about the Spartan race: not the running, but the upper body strength
I go climbing every now and then, plus some strength training with dumbbells, but I still cannot do a single pull-up! I think I will have to start carrying some of these resistance band loop elastics with me when I go running, so that I can stop in the park at the pull-up bar there and try some assisted pull-ups at least. Still a bit of time until June...0 -

depending on the height of the bar you can do negatives and not need to carry the extra gear.1 -

@MobyCarp You probably answered this, and I can't find the post, but how do you "accidentally" run a marathon?
You sign up on 6 weeks' notice, based on peer pressure and finding one hotel room one mile from the start/finish area, having previously intended to run your first marathon 16 months later. That's what I did, with no pressure other than never having run the full marathon distance before and my running buddy telling me the only way I wouldn't BQ would be if I didn't finish. (He was right. To date, my marathon record is 6 starts, 5 BQs and 1 DNF.)
Alternatively, it would be possible to sign up for a half that coincides with a full, and go the wrong direction where the half and full courses diverge. I didn't do that, though I have seen a case of a kid accidentally running a half marathon instead of a 5K that way.

Totally behind on posts, but I managed a run on the last day of February after 10 days of not running due to hurting my back. I guess I did not do well following my PT's advice not to run this week yet - but I got to Scottsdale and the weather was way too nice. I felt good so my walk the first morning turned into an easy run. I planned a route that took me to Camelback Mountain, where I planned to just check out where the trail was. But since I was there...I ended up hiking up most of the way to the top. I was going to run out of time if I went all the way, so I had to head back down and then ran back to the hotel. The run was about 3.2 miles total and the hike almost 2 miles. I ended my morning with some yoga and stretching before I had to spend the rest of the day doing conference related things. It was a great morning and I felt so happy to both in warm weather and running again.
So that ends February well short of my goal of 100 miles. I didn't do my half marathon this month, which means I also didn't make make my goal of running a race every month. Nor did I make my goal of doing a push-up by the end of February. I took the most days off running in a row or in a month that I have since I started running. But I'm fairly OK with it all. Just really glad to be able to run again and the warm weather break has done me a lot of good. I still have one more day here and then back to winter on Sunday.
@_nikkiwolf_ I am signed up for a Spartan race a week from tomorrow. So, assuming that I continue to feel fine and go ahead with it, I'll let you know how it goes. I'm not feeling very confident about it at this point. I spent a lot of time working on upper body the last few months but not specifically practicing obstacles. I really don't want to spend all day doing burpees. I'm pretty sure there are several obstacles I won't be able to do though. I'm just hoping it will be fun overall, my team is supposed to be in it for fun and supporting each other...we'll see.
I'll head over to March but I'm sure I'm woefully behind there.

Obviously, I can not speak for the specific humans you will be with but I have found that the obstacle race community is just as friendly and helpful as the trail race one and more friendly than the road racing one (not that they are bad but this is a comparison here). Complete strangers help each other all the time on them. Unlike road races, very very few are in it for making time, so stopping to help each other does not impact them at all.4 -
