If you read through my prior comments you would see the answers to your questions. I weigh everything on a scale, I don’t eat anything prepackaged, and I check the usda calorie count. I am talking about. I do not eat back exercise calories, I may increase to closer to 1300 those days or eat an extra piece of fruit.
I wear a fitbit to monitor my calories, and orange theory has their own heart rate monitor. Again, that’s why I gave a loose caloric deficit but I should still be losing. Maybe there is something “medically wrong with me” thanks.4 -

I am not sure how to change my approach when I am eating clean, never over 1400 a day, with a large calorie deficit and burning anywhere between 500-800 calories a week with various cardio and weight training. Nothing is changing. My measurements, my clothes, my weight. I am gaining weight.
One thing I could suggest is daily weighing with a trend tracker. You can even track your weight trend in the FitBit app. I use FitBit and trendweight personally. When looking at the trends you can see on any given day what things may affect your weigh ins. You can also see what your normal fluctuations look like for your body. You can see on my recent trend there are certain days where had I only weighed then I would have thought I’d gained or made no progress towards goal.
If you really are 100% accurate with your logging and the overall trend line still doesn’t move see a doctor. I have autoimmune issues and until my condition was properly diagnosed and treated I really struggled. My conditions are Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and endometriosis. Untreated there was a lot of bloating that would never go away. I also lost weight even slower5 -

Your original post was 4 days ago. There hasn’t been enough time since then for you to determine if you have gained or lost body fat. Not everyone is a good candidate for daily weighing. Put your scale away. Don’t weigh yourself again until two weeks have passed. You are stressing yourself out.14

Sure, that resonates. But this proves its not just “calories in, calories out” I started motivated and happy. Eating nutrient dense food usually around 1200-1300 a day. Yea, I am working put a lot because I am trying to get stronger and fit. I allowed myself 3 days off for a nyc weekend and ate pizza/ drank/ whatever. Supposed to *kitten* off cortisol in my body, the scales goes up literally no matter what I do.
If you are in a deficit your body fat is going down regardless of what the bathroom scale says. You don't actually weigh one number you weigh a range of numbers. When you move up the range it masks fat loss and looks like you are gaining when you should be losing. When you suddenly move down it looks like you might be losing too fast. My bathroom scale went up 8 pounds last week through Sunday. It is temporary and it will all go back down plus some in time. I have been doing this over a year and this is normal some weeks.
I once thought as you did that I was cursed and that somehow my body was not going to let me lose weight. I believed this because the scale never seemed to cooperate. The reality is I just didn't understand it or give it enough time like you are doing now.
You need to stop being stubborn and realize that what you believe is not true or you will keep making the same mistakes I did. I saw someone else suggest that you put the scale away. I had to do that myself when I started because it was toxic to my efforts. I have since educated myself and I can actually handle daily weighing now even when the scale keeps going up for a time.12 -

There is nothing medically wrong with you (or anyone) that would prevent fat loss in a caloric deficit. That's a law of nature, which none of us can violate.
The process works. 100% of the time. If you are in a caloric deficit - over time - you will lose fat. If you are not, you won't - over time. Whenever I had gained when I thought I should be losing, it came down to one of two things:
1. I was not really in a deficit like I thought I was
2. Fluctuations masked my fat loss.
So what did I do? I put the bathroom scale away and focused on my food scale. And I waited a month. Because I know from science that energy balance is one of the most fundamental laws there is. It doesn't matter how "resistant" I may have thought my body was (it wasn't) to losing fat. If I didn't lose fat, it wasn't because my body was different, it was because there was something I was missing. There could be no other answer.
So I focused on the process, not the short-term results. The process works.
Because I knew the process had to work, I worked on that. Today, if I had a choice between owning a food scale or a bathroom scale, I would pick the food scale. Every. Single. Time.
Give yourself time. Exercise patience. If it's not working, it's not the process, it's how you are working it. For me, if something I know works isn't working, I assume it's me - especially if the process is sound.
My comments may sound more harsh than I intend them to be. But I speak of this from some experience - and I'm way more analytical than feelings-oriented. Don't let your frustration with short-term stuff distract you from working a process that is proven to work for everyone. Tinker until you get it right and take your time.

Could it be a matter of "when" your weighing yourself? Always in the morning? Always at night? If you're going through a gallon of water a day, I would expect someone to weigh more later in the day than when the first wake up. I think, that alone, could give you varied results.0

Neither FitBits or heart rate monitors can actually measure calories though, they can estimate but they cannot count energy. Orange Theory is renowned for ludicrous calorie estimates BTW, it's part of their marketing.
If you were in a consistent calorie deficit over an EXTENDED period of time and had a medical condition you would still be losing fat - you would have to be gaining an equivalent amount of water to remain weight stable.5 -
I figured it would be a inflated, thats why i don't eat back those calories. So I am still at a deficit. 🤷🏻♀️
But they still maybe reinforce that somehow a calorie deficit doesn't work for you.....
Which isn't that case for any of us.
TBH if you are certain you are in a deficit just be patient and the results will come.7 -

I am not sure that is possible for someone "eating clean" and being uber strict with themselves.6 -
Hey Jflowers. I am in the same boat as you. I have been working out like crazy and have not lost any weight in 2 weeks, I am also getting frustrated. but you need to stay focused. Let me know if you have any tips as well. Do not get on scale every day,4

There are a lot of inaccurate entries in MFP. I searched small red beans and got 60 calories per serving when the correct value is 140 calories per serving. Thats more than double! You have to be really careful to log accurately in addition to logging everything.2

Probably not, or that it’s some vague concept that doesn’t matter.
I am proud of myself for cooking meals, eating whole foods and not heating up lean cuisines. I am proud of my discipline and putting clean food in my body. Yes, I am being strict. However I still have allowed myself to have a burger now and then or a beer. My frustration comes from being diligent, aware, and not seeing results. Take your sarcasm elsewhere.20 -
It is kind of amazing of the helpful posts I have made that you didn't reply to you picked the one in which you thought I was being sarcastic. I put it in quotes because the definition of eating clean varies so much from person to person it doesn't actually have a good meaning anymore. No sarcasm intended.
If you want to eat "clean" go for it. I don't because I don't feel it is necessary for weight loss (which it is not) and my health is improved from weight loss alone. I aim for a variety and well-rounded nutrition and the rest is what it is.

It seems like no one has the right answer because apparently you defy the law of thermodynamics. If you were doing everything right you would be losing weight.14

Nobody is saying that you shouldn't be proud for cooking more meals (although there is nothing shameful about eating food that others have prepared or having a frozen meal). It's just that it's irrelevant to weight loss, which is created by a calorie deficit. If you're frustrated by the method you're using, there's no need to continue unless it is giving you another type of reward.17 -

I wonder if the OP believes that some sort of perfection will yield linear results and the rest of us slobs are fluctuating because we shoot for good enough and eat whatever is normal for us.

Who is throwing around words like “slobs” I would never use that word towards anyone nor judge what someone eats. I only stated what I am doing. My whole family unit passed away in a span of 3 months from various reasons so yes, I am eating clean to protect my health and prevent diabetes per my doctors orders. I have no idea why anyone would take issue with that. So be snarky all you want, I won’t respond to snarky/ judgmental messages from internet strangers any longer.8
