Hi All .... it’s been a crazy week at work ... thought would be easy but when I think I can take a break something else pops up .... but have been trying to log and move as much as possible ... I am walking back from work everyday so at least it’s something.

@raindogmaa thanks for the warm welcome back! I am looking forward to posting more and contributing to the group.

@skinnyjeanzbound congrats on onederland! Taco pot luck yum!!! Churros I love ... Where I am from we had them filled with dulce de leche and then you dip them in fudge ... the bomb! That will be my treat when I lose some more weight
And yes let’s meet some time ... last year I went to NYC and met one of the people at MPF, was really nice.

Ok better get ready for work if not will miss my bus ... have a great day everyone!

Trying something new - intermittent fasting. I'm doing 16:8 - so basically I don't eat anything after 6 in the evening and then don't eat until 10am in the morning. I'm still doing my 1200 calories - only eat them between 10 and 6. A lot of people already eat this way - my husband for one. I've always wanted a good breakfast right when I wake up, so waiting is something new and it hasn't been difficult. I hoping this jump starts my weight loss. We'll see when I weigh in tomorrow, but only started Tuesday, so my hopes are high yet - next week will be a better judge on how it is working.

@diane-- good luck with the IF. I know a lot of people who've had great success with it. During the work week, I tend to naturally eat within about a 10 hour window and it's much easier for me to stay within my calorie goal on those days. Even if you find it's not sustainable for you in the long run, just switching up your eating schedule for a few weeks can really help jump start the scale. While I'm on break this week, I'm going to try to go very high protein and low carb just to switch things up for my body.

@happygirlxxx -- I also met a couple of MFP friends in NYC to run the Tunnel to Towers 5k several years ago, and it was so much fun. Both of them have also visited Chicago--one for a work conference, but I was able to head downtown and hang out with her. The other came to run the Shamrock Shuffle with me a couple of years ago. For sure, we will have to meet up. Churros are so yummy--and yes, these were filled with dulce de leche--no fudge though.

AFM-- Oh wow, another high stress day and too many Mexican sweets left over from our taco day on Wed. I ate so much pan dulce and an entire concha today. Fortunately, Spring Break is here!!! I'm so happy because I will now have time to catch up on grading and lesson plans, get some cleaning and projects done around the house, and get back into an exercise routine. Oh, and sleep--I'm so excited about sleep!! Tomorrow a friend is having a dinner party, so that will be fun. But first, I will take Gunner for his bath and clean up all of his fur while he's out of the house.

    Happy Saturday!!

Beautiful day here in Chicago ... it’s sunny, hardly any clouds and even though it’s still a bit chilly it’s nice outside for a walk.

I am just having breakfast at this coffee shop that I love ... but it’s such a temptation with all these pastries (croissants, scones, etc)

But I was good though ... had a hardy breakfast that should last me (hopefully) for the rest of the day

    totkulpjrgwl.jpeg

@sweeetypie1 I have not tried IF, but have friends that do and they love it ... helps them control how many calories they consume per day but specially they said it gives them tons of energy and mental clarity ... so good luck! Keep us posted how it goes ... I might try one of these days.

@skinnyjeanzbound would be fun to find a 5K to do together!! I did Shamrock many years back and it was fun.

AFM - this week I don’t think there has been weight loss ... not sure why, but I continue going ... eventually my body will decide to let go of the fat

I have not weighted myself today, but next time I post promise to share!

    Have a great weekend everyone!

Well, darn.... it was my birthday weekend and I did go off program. The good news is that I didn't go back into the 90's.... and I was able to resist alcohol. I give myself a victory points for that! Ha ha!

@sweeetypie1 I have been trying for a few weeks now to do IF. I have a hard time getting dinner in before 7pm or 8pm because of work and activities, which has me eating my 1st meal at 11am or 12:noon... so it's a challenge for me.

Here's to a good week for everyone!!!

My plan to cut out the carbs and sugar this week have gone by the wayside. Too much socializing with friends- thai food and martinis yesterday for lunch, dinner out with a friend Wednesday, dinner with my sister Tuesday. Needless to say the scale is up, and I'm NOT happy about it. To make matters worse, I haven't been to the gym once this week even though I had planned to go several days while on break.

The good news is I've already done my shopping for healthier fare going forward. I'm not excited about going back to work on Monday, but it will be good to get back to a schedule. Years ago, I used to post lists to track my exercise and my grading that I needed to get done. That really helped me with the work/life balance, so I'm going to try it again.

I also made some good progress preparing for Iceland. Went shopping to the outlets on Tuesday, and got waterproof hiking shoes at the Columbia outlet and a pair of water repellent pants at Eddie Bauer. Then today, I went to REI and bought waterproof pants, so I'm pretty much set when it comes to gear.

Helloooooo .... well not a good week at all .. what started last weekend with a “just once” ended up being the whole week of poor food and exercise choices ... I haven’t even weighted myself because I might crack the scale  and worst part I haven’t even made the attempt to track my food because I think deep inside I was embarrassed and annoyed with myself for choosing not to care .... anyway back to tracking and trying to go back to eating healthier!

    Have a good weekend!

    Hey guys!
I've done really well with nutrition the past few days, but today my friend was visiting from out of town, so we met out for drinks and got some appetizers at the bar. Nothing super unhealthy, but I'm definitely over my calorie goal for today. I'm not too upset because it's still below my maintenance calories. Plus, I've made it to the gym twice in the past three days.

    Hello everybody!

It's me... calling from the longest plateau know to man! Or at least in min mind. I have been in the same 3 lb weight range for a month and a half! Frustrating.. BUT... I am happy to report I have not gone off the deep end. I'm still focused and not giving up. That is the hardest part, especially when you are not seeing results on the scale. I am, however, seeing results in my body. I think I am just adjusting to the 35 some lbs being gone. My clothes fit better and when I catch a glance at myself in the mirror, I don't hate it. That is a big deal for me. Can you relate? So here is my checkin report:

@cyndy-- what diane said!! I'm glad to hear you aren't giving up--I agree with you that plateaus are our body's way of adjusting to the "new normal" before losing more. I honestly believe those breaks from dropping pounds helped me keep weight off long term. Now if I could only stay on track long enough to get the scale moving down again!

@diane-- looks like you had a nice drop last week!

AFM-- I still haven't been consistent with my food. I have a couple of really good days, and then a not so good day. I need to be more stable with my nutrition. On the plus side, I kept to my plan to hit the gym 3x (though I ended up going Wed instead of Thurs) and kept up with grading last week. YAY!

I went to the gym yesterday, so I'm planning two more days this week. The scale has been way up which is why I've 'forgotten' to post it, but that doesn't mean the pounds aren't there; I will keep honest and update my list. I deleted Jan/Feb because my posts get so darn long, but I'm keeping March visible in hopes that the glimpse of that 199 a few weeks ago will motivate me. :)

@skinnyjeanzbound Way To Go on the Exercise focus. I really think if I add more focus into working out, it would help with my plateau situation. And you are right... I am not giving up! I feel too good and look better, too (added bonus). My clothes are feeling baggy and I have already "let go" of some of my big drappy blouses. I really want to keep it going and feel confident this summer. Confident to wear nice summer dresses, confident to not feel so self-conscious at the beach or swimming pool. Confident to let myself relax and not be constantly judging myself. It will be a relief. Now to get to the exercising... that's the next challenge. 😄 Cheers to all!

Hi everyone!! Just a quick check-in to say I've finally got the scale moving in the right direction again. I think getting back into a gym routine has helped. In addition, I adjusted my Fitbit calorie deficit from -500 to -1000 because it was always telling me I was under my goal, but I was not losing (and in some cases gaining) weight. I think it over estimates my calorie burn because I'm left-handed, and even though I wear it on my right wrist, I use my right hand quite a bit (the world just isn't made for a sedentary right hand). Anyways, I'm experimenting with this change to see if it helps.

    Hi everyone!
It's been a so-so week. Food has been up and down. but overall, I'm doing better at paying attention to my calories with this new fitbit deficit. Even with the holiday today, it wasn't too horrible in terms of calories. My exercise has also been more consistent, and the weather has finally turned to spring, so walks with gunner are more frequent. Sadly, his weak leg muscles make it difficult for him to go too far, but I've been able to take him for a couple of short walks vs. one longer walk.

One negative is that I woke up yesterday morning with some weird lower back pain. Dull and achy right at the base of my spine. It really only bothers me after I've been sitting for awhile and try to stand. Once I'm up and moving around, it's pretty inconsequential. In fact, I even went to the gym and ran yesterday with no issues, but try to sit on the couch for 30 minutes and it is pretty painful to stand back up. I really don't know what happened--I have no recollection of pulling it or lifting anything. I think maybe I just slept wrong...

Hello Everybody! It's me.... the girl on the eternal plateau. I probably could have broken it but I stepped off the program over Easter Weekend. Ham, chocolate, Brunch... it's all too much. I am happy to report that I have not gained a ton and the victory I am taking from the weekend is that I stayed away from alcohol. Really, if I had let myself indulge in that, I would have most definitely gained. So now it's working off all the calories I had and to try and get the darn scale moving in the down direction. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

@cyndy--good job keeping it reeled in over the holiday weekend!

AFM--I ate my fair share of candy on Sunday, but I've tried to make up for it with some extra movement. I ran outside on Tuesday and added a quick walk with gunner on my rest day. It's paying off because I've seen 200 twice on the scale this week. Shooting for the 190s this next week. :)

    Hi everyone!
Well even with the candy binge on Easter, I managed to keep the scale going in the right direction. It was at 200 most days, and when I weighed in on Saturday, it was at 198. Yay!! I had a lot of extra movement last week, so clearly I need to keep that up if I want to continue to lose. Today is a soggy, yucky day, so it's off to the gym for me. At least the snow we got on Saturday is all melted. I'm really over these spring blizzards....

Hello everyone! I just wanted to jump in with an intro as I'm new to this thread. I've got at least 100 lbs to lose and have been on and off with MFP tracking but haven't dabbled much in the community. A number of years ago I lost about 80lbs and the one thing that helped me was a motivation and support thread on a different site so that's why I'm here. It helped keep me accountable then so why not now? Anyway I've gained back every. single. pound that I lost and then some. I'm also not a spring chicken anymore so I feel like I'm now 'feeling' every pound just a little bit more and that just stinks - basically I'm tired and feel like garbage the vast majority of the time.

Anyway I've got sob stories to tell but I'm not going to - because they are the same stories that I have used as excuses over the years and I'd rather focus on my goals and how to overcome any obstacles that I have NOW. So in general - about me (the non-sob story stuff) I'm 38 years old, female, about 5'5", I've got a fairly big job at a professional sports team (which comes with a decent amount of stress and nothing that could even be remotely considered a normal schedule for 6 months of the year), I do not have children but I do have a husband, cats and a bunch of employees in their early 20s and I live someplace where it's winter for about 8 months out of the year and am prone to hibernation. Oh, and I love carbs... not the good ones... the ones you find at Italian restaurants.

At my highest weight (few months back) I was tipping the scales at 297 - There are a million sob story factors that helped me get to that place but the bottom line is it's my own fault - I did not take care of myself and my health and I let it spiral out of control. Anyway I've got 5 months until my work season starts up again and I'd like to come back next year NOT as the fat boss lady surrounded by athletes and I've got about 18 months until I hit 40 and I'd like to cross that line in better shape than I did at 30 (I just want to look and feel good - pretty simple right?)so those are my big picture goals. Today I'm down to 279 so I'm heading in the right direction. I'm trying to just go 10lbs at a time with an eye around 170 as an overall goal (that's a high school weight number for me). I'm really focusing on portion control/meal prepping, cutting out the excess bad carbs (re:pasta and wine) and eating more lean protein and leafy greens and getting back on track with a regular fitness routine - AND STICKING WITH IT. I'm aiming for overall health, strength and long term sustainability.

Looking forward to getting to 'know' folks around here.

Welcome Sunshinelinzee. It's a good support group. Glad you are back on track.

Thank you! I had poked around here once before but didn't really fully jump into the community. My mind just wasn't fully into it.

Today my head feels good - and my quads are burning from all of the squats. I'm a whole 3 days successfully on plan. I'm going to be weighing in on Mondays.

@Sunshinelinzee --welcome to the thread! Your comment about burning quads reminded me that I need to get back to doing another squat challenge and maybe start planking again. Thanks for the motivation.

AFM-- It's a tough week for me foodwise because it's Teacher Appreciation Week and our school always buys us lots of feed treats. Monday there was a donut wall and bagels, today cake, tomorrow apple pie in a jar, and friday ice cream. I'm trying to keep it in check and am managing to stay within my calorie allowance, but I definitely feel more bloated and bingy due to the indulgences.

On the plus side, one of my meetings got canceled tomorrow after school, so I will have time to go to the gym a second day this week.

Grading is slow and steady, but my AP students took their exam today, so that's one bit of pressure that done with for the year. Now my seniors only have 7 days of class, so I need to get all of their grading finished to determine who's exempt from final exams (if they have an A for the semester, they don't have to take the final). This weekend will be busy with grading summative essays.

    Wednesday Wish:
I wish I was better at saying no to sweets.
