Y’all do amazing things to support each other! I am proud to “know” you all.
AIM is the one we all did as a virtual race a while back right?
I went back to see if mine was visible, and looks like my image is gone. Not sure why, but here it is again. I am not at home and do not recall what it looks like off hand. So dunno if you can see it:
Yessir, I see it, just right of an airplane in the center.. Hawaiians love SPAM side out.3 -
So I've been logging food but not in the forums. Work has been crazy. I've been struggling with depression.
But some sadistic coach assigned me like 140 miles for April. And my response? 🤣🤣🤣 so my goal is 110-140. 🤷🏼♀️14 -

4/1 5miles, 30 minutes TRX routine
4/2 5.86miles (tempo intervals)
4/3 rest
4/4 7.25miles (6miles, 6 strides)
4/5 10miles, 30 minutes hip exercises
Felt good today. No weird heart rate jumps. I did wake up with post nasal drip and a scratchy throat. I wonder if that is why my heart rate was abnormally high yesterday?

I remember that AIM virtual race well - I was on a trail running weekend and we'd done a hilly 8 mile run that day - but I insisted on going out again at the appropriate time to complete my run - I did it a pair of approach shoes, on the roads around Dartmoor - thankfully our guide came with me so we didn't get run over!!! happy times for not so happy reasons. We should plan a group run again this year - last year was our 24 hour run. Watddyareckon?9

Yesterday evening I did my final pace run before my marathon, 6 miles with the middle 4 at 8:20-8:30. It was a pretty good run despite the crazy wind. I did the run from work, which is a pretty hilly area. When I went to leave the building, I thought the door was broken because I could not push it open to get out. Then I realized that it was the wind that was making the door nearly impossible to open. Of course, the direction of the wind just happened to be right in my face as I climbed up the hill for my final pace mile. I felt as if I was standing still, but I still managed an 8:28 for the mile, so mission accomplished for the run.
This weekend the weather is supposed to be nice, with Saturday temps close to 70. I have not run in any weather near those temps. The last time I ran Boston, temps were in the 70s at the start due to the late start time. I had done one or two training runs in mid afternoon to prepare and I was grateful for that, as a lot of people struggled with the heat. My plan is to do my Saturday run of 8-10 miles in the middle of the day to prepare. It's probably not enough to save me if we have weather like last time, but at least it's something. On the other hand, if it's cold, raining and generally miserable, I should be plenty prepared!11 -
I couldn't do the AIM virtual at the proper time... probably due to injury... but it was memorable when I did do it. It was my first Parkrun and Kody's first race. I had my second fastest 5k time, at the time, in spite of two poop breaks (for Kody). I wore the shirt and carried the medal with me. It's hanging from Kody's neck in the photo.

4-3 7k easy
4-4 rest

April Total: 21k
April Goal: 150k
Next year when you pop in here claiming your December 2019 mileage, what accomplishments will you have made?
Run at least 4 5k races.
Get under 30:00 and a PR for 5k.
Average at least 135k per month, which would put me over 1,000 miles for the year.
Run the Year Team: Five for Nineteen
With my first 5k of the year coming up, decided I'd run a little harder than I usually do to see how ready I am. Turned out pretty well.
2019 Races:
4-13 Shine the Light 5K (Registered)
6-1 Freedom 5K (Will be off the schedule due to another commitment)
6-30 Strides for Starfish 5K11 -

Well. I’m unable to run, but if there’s a cause to support, I’m in. Maybe @HonuNui wants to do AIM again? I think that’s a lot of work for her though. Ideas?
It can’t be just any willy-nilly event. We love supporting one another so I’ll have to be something personal, something we can get behind.5 -

- Western Cottonmouth snakes
- Copperhead snakes
- mountain lions
- scorpions
- Texas red-headed centipedes
- Black Widow spiders
- Brown Recluse spiders

I am sure I am forgetting a few things....
I remember a horrible episode involving chiggers when I lived in Texas. And the biggest roaches I'd ever seen!
Got a couple of miles in this morning, so I'm up to 6.7 out of 30 for the month.6 -

My heart rate always goes up before the onset of an illness. I can tell from that and my blood glucose levels when I’m about to get sick. If I have a fever, it really skyrockets.2 -
I'm still at zero miles for the month. I was going to run last night for 3 miles but decided another two days of down time for injury recovery would be better for me than 3 miles.
Tomorrow. Tomorrow I run.15 -

I'm glad you clarified the poop breaks. 😉15 -
@zdyb23456 - lol on holding back the nice rack comment.
@7lenny7 - hope tomorrow is the day!
@rusgolden - congrats on the 10K!
I'd not heard of nettles either. I tried to catch up and read about all the scary things where people live, but what started it? Did someone get bit by a snake or eaten by a bear or something?
I am afraid of the brown recluse spiders also. About 20 years ago I remember reading about an office building in Orlando that was infested with them and a bunch of people working there had gotten bit and were missing big holes - and they showed pictures! I never could forget that image!
I did the AIM race - but I forgot when it was. Time just absolutely flies.
Biking tomorrow for me and not sure on Sunday yet.
4/1 - rest day
4/2 - 4.5 miles + strength training/legs
4/3 - 5 miles
4/4 - strength training / upper
4/5 - 4.5 miles
14 / 70 miles

6 miles in the bank after a beautiful trail run! 🌞

3/3 = rest day
3/4 = 8 miles

Welp, pre-summer is officially here. Temps in Austin hit a high of 91F yesterday and the humidity was 97% when I started my run this morning. Like running draped in a hot, wet, wool blanket.
Oh, and there is a 60% chance of severe thunderstorms tomorrow morning for my half. I foresee a soggy, hot, humid run in my future 🙄
Why do I live here?
Anyway, I still enjoyed my run this morning. I picked my favorite trail from last month and revisited it. I still have not bought trail shoes but I did buy a hydration pack. The icy water bladder thing helped A LOT.
Anyone still getting snow? Do you want to send some down here?
April goal miles ? / Miles to Date = 17 miles
Upcoming Races:
4/6 = Wanderlust Half
5/4 = Wisconsin Marathon (Mittens Challenge Part 1)
5/5 = Kalamazoo Marathon (Mittens Challenge Part 2)
6/15 = Fit Foodie 5k12 -
Morning all. Its Saturday morning here. I plan on a short run today. Will see if it happens. Today will be filled with yard work (no self respecting kiwi says yard work, we say gardening and lawns! I've been hanging our with y'all too long. Dear God, that's another one. Sigh) and cleaning. House is listed but no bites so far. I'm still getting moments of excitement with a little panic. I'm dreading Tuesday when I tell my boss but will be glad when it's done.9

I forgot about chiggers...ugh. And fire ants. The fire ants were super busy building on the trail I ran today.
Funny story about when I first moved to Texas. I found out that cockroaches FLY down here. One landed in my hair the first time I tried to walk on a green belt after moving south. I did not go outside for a week....shudder.10 -
