So... most of this belongs in the nutrition thread, but it relates to my running fail today so I am putting it here.
Today was very busy. I mostly got coffee in me. Then we had a going away do for a coworker, with cheesecake, before lunch. In case anyone is curious.... coffee and 2 pieces of cheesecake, although delicious, and probably sufficient calories on the day, is not suitable fuel for lifting or running.
Original plan was run, but it’s an icy mess again here. So, went for my indoor option. Someone was already on the treadmill. So, I started with squats, which were ugly and shaky. Tried to do the run when she was done.... made it like half a mile, and my headphones were dead, and legs were dead, and I was over it. So, I went home.
We will call it 32/40 for April.
Lots of weird work days and driving days and attitude issues on my behalf, meant I fell short. But, I made it closer than I thought. And it was the highest mileage month I have had in quite some time. (Like, since ummm May of 2017 if I was to guess?)8 -
Final April Report. Well shy of the goal. Ah well, next month is coming!

Final report for April. Had to jettison my running goal after Achilles’ tendon injury in the second week of the month, missed my 10k due to injury. Standard advice is not to run on it until running is pain free. Unfortunately it’s taking its own sweet time to recover, so my current goal is to maintain as much running fitness as I can while waiting. It has progressed to the point that I’m working on rehab exercises. Meanwhile, walking, biking, and modified strength work.
I finally made it out towards the end of the day and got my 3.65 walk in, saved it, then threw on a couple of extra miles for a total of 5.66 walking miles today. It’s wisteria season on the banks of the Wolf river. One long stretch had wisteria, red honeysuckle, sumac flowers, and banks of flowering blackberry bushes. It smelled gorgeous!
I was disappointed with my blood glucose levels after lunch. Running really doesn’t compare to any other activity in terms of glucose control, it allowed me to eat like a non-diabetic person, and without it, I’m having to cut way back on carbs. So I did 30 minutes hard cycling intervals on stationary bike in hopes of having a similar effect. My goal was to duplicate the effort of a running 5k as far as heart rate zone, perceived effort, etc. which required turning the tension up and really cranking it. My quads are going to feel it tomorrow.
I got nice and sweaty since I have no AC again! Taking different quotes since this time it’s thoroughly deceased to the tune of about 5k. In the meantime my bedroom is 78 degrees and I’m contemplating dousing myself in bug spray and sleeping in the back yard!7 -
Just to make it official: I brought April in right at the nominal goal of zero miles. The stress fracture is still not all better, but I see some signs of progress. On to May!9

@Tramboman and @PastorVincent - Hope those backs heal quickly. Back problems are no bueno for sure.
@AlphaHowls- Seriously. I am in awe. It's taking me 3 weeks to recover from 26.2 and you do it just about every day! Amazing!

I finished April with 77ish miles. Goal was low because of taper and marathon. I am looking forward to May and some down time. May is always my lowest mileage month of the year.3
