Eeeeek, I just had to share that I am so very excited to be a top fundraiser for the Bronx Zoo Run For the Wild 5k this Sat for the 2nd year in a row! It's a cause that is really important to me and it gives me a little more faith in humanity to see how much has been raised. Overall, the whole event has so far raised $456,981! This year, my 5th year participating, is also the most I have ever raised - $1,796 so far! It kinda really blows me away. Anyway, just had to share my excitement! I can't wait to see all the animals as I'm running through the zoo Saturday morning!

@girlinahat and @Elise4270 I love the shirt! And I was just thinking this morning about whether we ever decided to do a virtual group run this year. I could have easily missed something as quickly as these threads move. LOL I think the "hug a runner" challenge sounds like a good idea.2

I emailed them and they said that this years charity hadn’t been selected yet, of course I deleted the email and can’t verify that.. the site claims that it’s “shoes that fit”, an organization that fits kids with athletic shoes. Some of you already know that Run The Edge is run by athletes. This is the organization we are doing, er y’all are doing the RTY 2019 challenge. I encourage you to check them out, feel good about supporting them. Definitely throw out an alternative virtual run, maybe we’ll do more than one.
Oh it’s a 10 day challenge... ya.. 10 days, think thanksgiving pie and all those goodies. You need to run 10 5K’s! Starts November 20th

@Avidkeo I have new x rays. He was very pleased with the bone growth. I think the articulation of the hip look much better than it had. I’m hoping that alleviates my torn labrum pain.
@Avidkeo if I could pick your brain... is it just me, or is Shenton’s line disrupted by the femoral head? The doc mentioned the acetabulum was, uh a possible surgical fix. don’t think we went into that and I am unclear if he was talking about the other side, which also could be a candidate for the same surgery to help the sciatic impingement by the piriformis. (I’m seriously hoping this is it).
The left appears to have a normal mckibbins index, +31(acetabular version +14 (+14, 0), femoral +17 (+14,+3) the right (rod side) before surgery, +55 (AV +18 (+17,+1), FV +37 (+27,+10). FV should be +15 post op).
I should really go study for my muscle practical and leave my X-rays alone... ohhh I have the mri cd... hehe! Oh that’s the left not the right, rod side. I have a follow with with both surgeons in a month, i like to get a once over before I see them so I follow and ask better questions. Dh wants me to look at PA school. Meh.. uh Physician Assistant, idk if you have that title there down under. Is New Zealand still “down under”?
Muscles. Go study.
@elise4270 it's hard to say cause about Shentons line cause it follows the bottom of the femoral neck and head, into the public ramai and they are masked by the shielding. From what I can see it looks normal. Never heard of mckibbins index! Cant say I've ever heard of a physicians assistant but it might be another name or done by nurses. And yeah technically we are "down under" though that's almost always just used to reference Australia.1 -
Went out to run this morning but just didn't have the mojo. Managed 1.7k before giving up. Oh well i got out. Lol. Total for the month 143/1505

I am 300 posts behind. I have been running/tapering but not recording here.
I am starting to have SERIOUS panicky doubts about next weekend. I don't know if I have 2 marathons in me. I seriously overestimated my abilities in signing up for this. Someone tell me this is not going to kill me. Ugh.
Upcoming Races:
5/4 = Wisconsin Marathon (Mittens Challenge Part 1)
5/5 = Kalamazoo Marathon (Mittens Challenge Part 2)
6/15 = Fit Foodie 5k15 -

UGH! I am such an old-fart. I pulled a muscle SLEEPING. AGAIN. No run for a day or three probably. Good thing I am not training for a Marathon followed by a 50k, right? #grumble10

Agreed. It **probably** won't kill you. But you know.... will make you stronger 💪😰🙏6 -
Morning all!
ANZAC day here - I guess the equivalent of veterans day. Have come to the city to go to the movies (avengers, woo hoo) and stayed the night last night in a hotel. Across the road is the Hatea Loop - a shared walking/running/biking track around the river in the centre of the city. Its 4.35kms to do the loop, so I did it 3 times to get 12km run in this morning. It's basically just flat so a nice easy run. Total for the month 141/150!
I'm going tonight and am super excited. I'm a giant nerd and it cracks me up that the stuff I was teased for loving as a kid has completely taken over pop culture now.amymoreorless wrote: »I am 300 posts behind. I have been running/tapering but not recording here.

@heracaniac Great news from your doctor! You're doing great!
@Scott6255 Way to overachieve!
@girlinahat Great pictures. Looks like the perfect place for a hike.
@KatieJane83 Congratulations!!! That's awesome. Hey, share the link to your fundraising page and I'll contribute a little. I meant to last time you posted it, but didn't.
@Elise4270 That video is hilarious!
@amymoreorless I don't think it will be fatal. Just take your time, relax, and enjoy the experience.
I finally gave in and went to the doctor today. I have bronchitis. Got a steroid shot and lots of meds, so hope I will be on the mend soon. I took today off from all exercise. I'm just worn out from not being able to sleep due to coughing all night.

A thought: when I complained to my osteopath about sleeping injuries, he told me that this was almost impossible, bar falling out of bed, and instead I had been injured earlier (accident or overuse) and the night’s sleep had just exacerbated it. You may want to find out what’s really going on.4 -
DANG MAN...
A Collegiate 5K Record Falls After 42 Years—And No One Saw It Coming
North Central College senior Dhruvil Patel ran 13:51.4 at the Cardinal Classic, showing that progress happens at its own rate.

The article talks about how slow he was in HS (still faster than me! LOL). Impressive story!7 -

There is no garrentee I did not fall out of bed or be kicked by my wife... dangerous stuff!2 -
It's been a mad few weeks here - work was chaos in the build up to a weekend away in Melbourne, where I indulged in all the good things. I returned home to the start of the school holidays, which has been good fun but my routine is all out the window. Then there's been the chaos and overindulgence that comes with Easter, shortly followed by another public holiday here (Anzac Day, yesterday) where we had friends over and ate and drank well. The upside is, that with all the public holidays, my husband has been home a lot so I've managed to get quite a few runs in to help combat all the food, however, I'm still a good kilo up from the beginning of the month so I'm kinda hanging out for school to go back next week so I can get back to the usual - eating well, running well, plus lots of yoga and pilates.
Running challenge
1 Apr: Pilates + Yoga
2 Apr: 6.47km
3 Apr: Yoga
4 Apr: 10.68km
5 Apr: Rest (but not really, was a mad day prepping for kid’s birthday party)
6 Apr: Yoga
7 Apr: 9.8km
8 Apr: 6.92km + Yoga
9 Apr: 5.46km
10 Apr: Yoga
11 Apr: 10.0km
12 Apr: Many cocktails and much food
13 Apr: Many more cocktails and even more food
14 Apr: Yet more cocktails and food
15 Apr: Rest (from cocktails and food)
16 Apr: 6.82km
17 Apr: 10.09km
18 Apr: Rest
19 Apr: 17.37km plus Easter chocolate
20 Apr: Rest plus many, many hot cross buns
21 Apr: 10.73km plus more chocolate and hot cross buns
22 Apr: 10.67km trying desperately to outrun the Easter bunny!
23 Apr: 9.78km And I can’t believe it, my daughter has just won more chocolate.
24 Apr: Rest, from all the things
25 Apr: 12km trail run with my running club
26 Apr: Yogalates - first class in over two weeks, nearly fell over more than once.

April 1 - 5 miles
Miles until Goal # 1 - 95 miles
Miles until Goal #2 - 105 miles
April 3 - 3.3 miles. Did some speed work and felt really good.

April 5 - 3.1 miles
April 6 - 13.1 miles
=16.2 miles
Miles until goal #1 = 75.5 miles
Miles until goal #2 = 85.5 miles
I wanted to see how a few miles felt on drained legs after yesterday's half marathon. The first mile was rough as I worked through some tightness and stiffness, but felt great after that.
April 7 - 3.3 miles
27.8 miles for the month
Miles until goal #1 (100 miles) = 72.2 miles
Miles until goal #2 (110 miles) = 82.2 miles
April 9 - 3 miles of speed work

Have a 5K on Saturday that I'm running for time, so keeping the mileage a bit lower this week. Still planning on busting out at least 10 miles on Sunday.
UGH! This whole "keep the mileage low so you can race Saturday" sucks. Did a little speed work last night just for the heck of it.
April 17 - 3 miles
62.06 miles for the month
Miles until goal #1 (100 miles) - 37.98 miles
Miles until goal #2 (110 miles) - 47.98 miles
FINALLY after 4 long years of not PR'ing any race distance, it happened today. Wasn't even trying for it, just naturally happened. Old 5K PR was 26:17, new is 25:58.

Miles until goal #2 (110 miles) - 20.83 miles2 -
Aww, @quilteryoyo I really really appreciate that! The link is below. I'm so excited for Saturday, it's one of my favorite events, and I just found out that some of the people who are on the documentary show The Zoo (about the Bronx Zoo) will be doing meet and greets! I might fangirl a little bit, lol

I have to say, this is totally true! Had a personal training session last night and she had me do some exercise where I was supposed to fold over and put my hands on the floor. Well, my hamstrings are always tight from running. We both got a good laugh when I could only reach my shins. Something to work on.3 -
Eating and drinking my way through Portland. We'll call it carb loading.
Some highlights were Chinese black tea and steam buns at the Chinese garden, pork belly bahn mi sandwich, Deschutes brewery, Burmese glass noodle soup, creme brulee cream donut with a shot of Cointreau INside the donut, and beignets. All topped off by a $28 pour of a hard to find bourbon.
Not bad for the first day here.20 -
