@katharmonic - that is so fun that they have preview runs of the race course! It should be lovely in San Diego when you are here. Hopefully you will bring your running gear for a run along the water when you aren't in Old Town drinking all the margaritas and eating all the fresh tortillas!
Oh, for sure @shanaber - I hope to get at least a short run in Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning if I can. Last time I was there I did a long run in Balboa park. That was way hillier than I anticipated! Running along the water sounds like a perfect way to de-stress, along with those margaritas. If you have any specific running route or restaurant suggestions pass them along. I'm staying in the Gaslamp quarter. I hope I can remember the little coffee and smoothie bowl place I went to last time that I loved, but I'm sure there are plenty.

01/04 1.73 miles
02/04 3.42 miles
03/04 3.24 miles
04/04 2.37 miles
05/04 3.51 miles
06/04 3.22 miles
07/04 2.78 miles
Managed 20 miles this week, last time I did that was June 2017. Yesterday's run really knocked the stuffing out of me, its was sunny with clear blue skies but the wind was really strong and I kept getting winded!
Thankfully we don't have any poisonous insects or snakes, we do have lots of nettles and city folk driving large expensive SUV's on narrow county roads.

2.5 miles with section of interval sprints. Haven’t done that in a long time - thighs are burning!7

@shanaber I empty my hydration vest and take it in the shower with me. I use my pouf with some body wash and scrub it (especially where it’s the sweatiest), then hang it to dry in the shower.
The bladder I empty of any water/Gatorade then blow the line to make sure it’s clear of any water and pop it in the freezer until the next time I use it. I read that tip somewhere... it prevents the bacteria from growing in it and from getting smelly.6 -

My current shoes are the 15 version. I hope they are close to the same shoe. From reading posts on here, there are chances that they are drastically different. At least they have a decent return policy if they are. I also bought new tennis from New Balance. There goes my tax refund.
I have the 19's and I really like them. I know some on here miss the old support system, but the guiderails actually work better for me and I think they are even more comfortable!1 -
@katharmonic The series sounds like a lot of fun! And I love a good theme! Fresh tortillas are just the best!! You can get them still warm at the grocery store here and I usually have to open it up and get one out to snack on while I finish shopping.2

Yep, the 19s don’t work well for me compared to the 18s. But I have a different situation from most people looking for a stability shoe in that there’s really not much wrong with my gait - I don’t overpronate - but I have a bad knee which needs my foot placement to be very stable. I found that the 19s made my foot roll to the outside and put pressure on my knee.
By the way congratulations on a great race! I love the medal, and the alligator photo! I keep picturing some runner trying to jump over an alligator.2 -

Well, did that. Got slower after 13km but truth be told didn't make much effort to hold pace. Now to go eat everything in sight.
I think I need some new shoes (again). The Asics I got in January are getting too hot to be comfortable.10 -

Today I got to run 3.74 miles around my home lake. I’d planned on running mid-day as I’ve been doing most of the winter, but then I remembered that it’s spring now and decided to run after my morning coffee. It was beautiful weather for a run - just under 50 F, humid but low dew point, not too windy. It was noticeably colder around the lake, which is still melting, but not too cold that I needed anything more than my light windbreaker and shorts. The melting lake made for some very pretty fog, which made me miss the part of California where I grew up where morning fog was much more common than it is here.
And my butt was only slightly chilly!

All she needs to do is upload her .gpx files to Strava...I have no idea why she doesn't, especially as she'd probably come near the top of the different mileage challenges that Strava does.6 -

I wanted to see how a few miles felt on drained legs after yesterday's half marathon. The first mile was rough as I worked through some tightness and stiffness, but felt great after that.

Not only did he take away your sweep, but he did it so fast, he didn't even podium for time spent running!8 -

Morning all. Monday here. Day 8 9n the run for me, I'm doing that silly spring streak because why not. I'm also doing a 150k challenge so those two challenges line up well. 5k every day 8n April. Sorted. Last week 8 managed 40k so I'm slightly ahead. Not sure if I'll be able to keep my streak going this weekend cause hubby is away playing bowls.
So today I did 6k.
And today 8 talk to my manager. Hopefully. Or at least if I see him this morning, which I should because we have a welcome for some new students, I'll be telling him 8 really need to talk to him. I don't know why I'm do nervous. He's going to be sad and probably disappointed. I think its that disappointment. Hes a great boss so I never want to let him down so to speak.
Had someone look at the house yesterday. I'm pretty sure they won't make an offer but you never know.

30.9 miles for the week. Goal was 36. Not bad missing a day!9

@martaindale Congratulations on your race Glad you didn't let yourself get eaten and ruin the race's future
@katharmonic "Mountain Goat" sounds like lots of fun trails and hills!
@shanaber Did the noise come from your new hydration vest come from the fabric, or the water sloshing around? In the second case: I try to get all the air out of mine before a run. I hold it upside-down so that the part where the hose comes out is the highest point and all the air collects there, and then drink a bit from it until all the bubbles are gone.
For keeping it clean, I take the bladder out, blow out the last bit of water and prop it open so it can properly dry inside. The vest without the bladder inside I sometimes put in the washing machine together with my running clothes (stuffed in a pillowcase, so the buckles etc don't make noise in the washer). I only ever put plain water in there, because I was afraid of sugar serving as food for bacteria. But @zdyb23456 suggestion of putting it in the freezer sounds brilliant - maybe with that, I'll dare running with some sport drink inside this summer.

I almost didn't do my long run today. I went skiing with some friends yesterday. "Our" mountains are almost snow-free, so we piled in my car and drove to the Alps. Much higher mountains means not only there's still snow, but also that the slopes are on average 4-5 times longer than what I'm used to. Made for some tired legs in the evening
So I was really tempted to call today a rest day. But then I remembered that I already skipped last weekend's long run due to traveling. I don't want to skip it two weeks in a row, so this afternoon I went out and did the 15km my plan called for last week. And now I'll spend the evening on the couch ^^11 -

This morning's Goat run didn't quite go as planned. They had advertised a 4-leg run that started at a central location downtown and went out and back to 4 different parks with water towers - so you had to go up to each tower and return to the starting place each time. The full thing was advertised to be 15ish miles and half of it was 7.5ish. I planned to do 2 of the 4, but leg one turned out to be 5 miles by itself, and it was tough. That last steep hill up to the tower nearly did me in. When regrouping back at the start we realized this was going to be way longer than expected (apparently they didn't count the miles within each park, only to the park and back?). Turns out the full thing was a bit over 18 miles. I bailed out to go to work, not wanting to spend the extra time and energy today. I felt a little wimpy and it means my weekly mile total is low, but that's the way it goes. So I didn't get the NannyGoat or the SuperGoat, I guess I'll call it the KidGoat.11
