Thanks for the great info!
I have a question about gels/water on runs.
I have run only one 5k and one 8k so far, but am aiming for a marathon in about a year.
What is the race/training distance where I should start running with water or even gels to eat while running?
I understand most races will include water and gatorade stations, but for the training beforehand, what is the distance to start bringing those with?0 -

That is a personal question, and depends on your fitness level and environment. Personally, I don't need any fuel or water for 10Ks or less, but others may as their run times may be longer. Also, if it's hot out, you may need water sooner than on a cool run.
Generally speaking though, the body needs to refuel once you get around 45 minutes into your run, and then every 30-45 minutes after that. As for water, it depends if you are drinking Garotade (or the like), or taking gels/ gummies. If you are eating your fuel, then you'll want to drink a little more often, maybe every 10- 15 minutes, depending on the distance, pace, and climate.0 -
