I can credit my arms to my bootcamp trainer. I think I've done about 100,000,000 variations of pushups in the last year! Resistance training using your own body weight is way more effective than lifting, I have found, even though weights definitely have their place. Way more effective to lift 200 lbs than 10, for example! Who needs a gym when you have yourself!!!
Go on, kick some butt!!!
OK I got it. Sorry not being able to read this earlier. Can you share some of the variation on pushups you do. Because currently I do circuit training with pushups at 3 sets, 25 reps. I don't know if its enough.
Here's a list of the most common upper body exercises we do at my bootcamp with a demo off youtube:
spiderman pushups http://youtu.be/fSoigipsZM8
burpees http://youtu.be/W5oXadjFAlQ
body builders http://youtu.be/YEmrFEGbOOA
bear walk http://youtu.be/moeE1Q8e8z0 try doing this up and down a hill for added resistance
pike push up http://youtu.be/EA8g7q9jauM
push up with knee thrust http://youtu.be/OOv1c8PYE7c try doing this kicking your leg right through. throws you off balance forcing your core to work
staggered push up http://youtu.be/5Z8fCEYz1qQ
and finally walking staggered push up. We just did these the other day. They are killer! http://youtu.be/mr9RSm97QLg
Hope those help! A few of them give you some added cardio to, which is great. Have fun!!!!0 -
