    Options
    I'm a goalsetter.... I do write them down in a day planner. Some are weekly, some are monthly and then there are my long term goals. I so sometimes keep a gratitude journal of sorts, especially when I'm struggling with feeling that I haven't accomplished anything and I'm way behind where I thought I'd be at this age. It helps me to 'mentally reset' and quit comparing myself to people on a different journey than me.

    June Goals - 1. Hit 140 at least once 2. Walk on my lunch break 3-4 times a week 9 (it's freakin hot) 3. Ride my horses 6 days a week 4. Schedule a date night once a week 5. Payoff $500 in credit card debt 6. Planks/pushups daily


    I do read devotionals & my Bible every morning for about 30 min while drinking coffee. That's when I do the gratitude notes in my day planner. I wake up at 5:15 no matter what so that I can fit this into my schedule.

    Setting goals just helps me keep focused. I set short term fitness goals every 8-12 weeks and long term fitness goals once a year. Usually my long term goal is set for my birthday every year. Sometimes I will use a intense 30 day goal to get back on track or refocus if I haven't been doing so well.

    Making goals is very personal, some people need them to do anything and everything. Some people have goals but they don't call them goals.
    I've had a long term goal forever, to be fit enough to do a Sprint Triathlon. I've have other long term goals, become a healthy weight, become a healthy person.

    I try to make short term goals, lose 5# a month, work out 4 days a week...

    Goals don't motivate me, they are just there, so if goals do nothing for you, then let them go, don't worry about them.

    If you want to have a goal, but don't like that word, use something different.

    I am inherently a "goal" person. I have a number of short, mid_term and long-term goals.

    My most significant long-term goal is to live independently as long as possible (I am 74, in excellent health, and have a family history of longevity). To achieve that goal, I eat a healthy diet, exercise daily, get a check-up (with full blood work) once a year and get recommended tests as recommended.

    Mid -term (probably 2 years out) is to get my Gold Medal with my horse Annie. To do that, I ride a minimum of six days a week, go to the gym to continue to develop more core strength, take lessons twice a week, and read and watch instruction dressage videos.

    I have many short-term goals that typically have a duration of a week or two. They include things like getting my backyard cleaned up and "groomed", decluttering the house and getting rid of everything I don't actually use, logging food and exercise in MFP daily, etc.

    I find that these goals help to make sure I don't get to the end of the day/month/year having just let time go by (which I have found, is amazingly easy to do when you are retired and accountable to nobody but yourself!)
