What is your "Petty" Reason to Lose Weight?

I've realized that I'm attracted to guys who are more attractive than me, lol.
Instead of setting for my dating pool, I'd like to "move up a league"19 -
I want to see myself in the race photography and not be disgusted.7

Don't take this the wrong way, but seems to me the only thing you might suck at is picking boyfriends, lol.
Seriously, girl. Don't put up with that.
Oh I'm working on that part just have a special needs toddler so I'm trying to find a new job that will support me and my daughter and not rely on him because hes completely unreliable when it would come to child support and custody and basically anything involving her lol so I need to be completely self sufficient before I kick him out.15 -
I want to feel confident
I want to look in the mirror and say you are damn sexy 😆
I want to wear anything I like without worrying about problem areas

* more confident
Weight gain really takes abit of confidence. It shouldn't but it does💁♀️3 -
I am seperated and when I sign the divorce, I want to be hot as hell. Also a customer referred to me as "The Fat One" to her husband over the phone when she thought I didn't hear and when they come into upgrade I want her to eat her words.21

Ditch the *kitten* boyfriend. Quickest way to lose 200 pounds.19 -

I speak from experience.
He's only saying you suck because he knows in his heart you're way out of his league, and he doesn't deserve someone as good as you. He's afraid of losing you and wants to keep your self-esteem low. In his convoluted reasoning, if you feel so bad about yourself that you think no other man would want you, you'll figure you might as well stay and put up with his crap. Whatever you do, don't believe him. You're worth far more than that.
Garth Brooks song comes to mind. "She's Gonna Make It." Next line is, "He never will."17 -
Every time I look for a job and they tell me they're not hiring, my automatic thought is, "Which is it? My age, my weight, or my cane?"
I'd like to take at least one of those out of the equation.14 -

I am in the process of getting a divorce and have endured so much verbal and emotional abuse from my husband because of my weight. One of the last digs he said was that I needed to get off of our front porch before it breaks and that he was glad I didn't go with him on his recent trip to visit his mom because it would have cost an extra $500 just to feed me. Everytime I tried to start my diet or exercise routines instead of supporting me, he would tell me that I wasn't gonna stick to it and was stupid to even try. So my petty reason is to lose weight, becoming smaller than he has ever seen and show him what he lost!51

You go girl!!8 -
I want to fit on a seat comfortably 😂
Went to see a comedian with the boyfriend last week and the chairs were tightly packed in, so I sat awkwardly, was uncomfortable and felt sorry for my bf and the random man next to me because my fat *kitten* was stealing some of their space...
Once upon a time when I was thin the worst thing would be having to sit with a fat person because you have to be too close for comfort, now I am thay fat person... Time for change12 -
To be able to lie down in a bed instead of a mattress on the floor 😌 to be able to wear smart colourful clothing instead of black ones ☝️27

I have a friend who started trying to lose weight around the same time I did. He keeps bragging about his progress, but when I share mine he basically acts like it's nothing. Its not a competition.....but.......I want to win LOL21

god why are some people so awful! My ex told me I was fat, ugly, stupid, and that no one would ever love me. Now I'm hotter than his new (younger) wife and about to get my professional doctorate degree. WINNING34 -

YES. So much this. Mine are slowly getting better.
Time to be petty......I sometimes fantasize about running at the riverfront park downtown, looking fit and with a killer pace to boot. I'd secretly love to run into my most recent ex there so he could see what he gave up. The dude was definitely a "wolf in sheep's clothing" and a bit of a narcissist but I'd like him to know that he didn't break me.15 -
I'm getting married in October and I want to look stunning in my dress.
And a friend of mine is getting married a week before me, and my ex boyfriend is also a friend of hers and will be there. I dated him unhappily for 6 years and didn't know how to leave (he was my first relationship and I was in a bad place) but he cheated on me with my best friend of 10 years and left me for her. Unhappy or not, it still broke me for awhile.
He and my ex-best friend have both gained a LOT of weight and I have lost 54 lbs since this whole thing went down. Partially in thanks to the constant motivation and support of my fiance. I so want to rub it in their traitorous faces how much hotter I am now. That, and my fiance is absolutely perfect in every way. Ever since I read my first fairy tale I began searching for him. And I guess I settled for my ex because I didn't think that kind of love was something that happened in real life, or perhaps that I didn't deserve it. He is everything I have ever dreamed of and searched for, everything I thought did not exist or I would never find... and I just want to feel worthy of that.32 -
My partner of 10 years and I recently separated as he couldn't see getting married and "the long haul" together. I want to look amazing and rub his face in it.
Also I wanna look good in photo ops with the celebrities I meet.11 -
If some kind of food unexpectedly disappears, I'd like to not be the instant automatic suspect just because I'm the size I am. After all, everybody knows all overweight people have no self-control and compulsively eat everything in sight, right? Note, this is one of those things that used to happen more often in the past than it does now. And you know what? It usually turned out to be my skinny brother who ate it. To this day, though, I'm still afraid that if somebody's food disappears, I'm going to be the first one the fingers point to.17

That was my motivation too. My ex husband told me he didn't like fat women!!!
As you can see from my profile picture I am no longer fat and am happily unmarried.8 -

It was my motivation too. My ex husband was pretty insulting about my weight at times.3 -
I don’t want to be the fat mom at my kids’ school functions anymore.5

I know that many of us choose to lose weight because we want to have a healthy lifestyle and feel better about ourselves, but c'mon, we also have "I'm going to stick it to X" reasons.
For me, it's because I don't want to be the fat gay cousin. I want to be the hot gay cousin. I also want people's minds to be blown when I can lift heavy boxes by myself.

Mine is because I just had baby #3 and the father of my baby is a bigger guy. I want to always look better than him so he doesn’t ever find someone better looking and leave me. And hoping I can motivate him to get in shape when I start getting into shape.10

My petty reason would be so that I am no longer the 'fat, unattractive, undesirable' friend of the group.14

More of a "used to be skinny-fat, then gained a bit in my early 40s, now digging down and muscling up" kind of thing for me. Gaining confidence and self-respect are not petty, but manifestations thereof may be for me at times.
Non-petty:
--Having my SO drag me to the beach, which she does regularly.
--It's a life gesture to my SO, indicating that I'm happy and healthy both in our relationship and with her.
Petty:
--Working out at the gym in a tank/sleeveless shirt while looking and feeling like I belong there.
--Having younger women look at me and think "I hope my husband looks as good as him at 47."9 -

This is me as well. I have a co-worker I am friendly with who has lost weight over the past several months and is doing great and I am happy for them . . . but I want to WIN. (Remember this is the petty thread)12
