06/24 – 143 – Our weekend was so busy I didn’t get a chance to post although I weighed both days. We visited a local winery Saturday night and I ate a lot of snack foods that I usually avoid. Back on track for the work week.
06/25 – 142 – OK!
06/26 – 141 – I’ll be happy if I can stick around this weight for the rest of the week.
06/27 – 142.5 – Not real surprised. I’ve noticed that when I start trending down in my maintenance weight, I start getting a little loose with my calorie counting. That’s why I’m here. I need to watch a little closer the next couple days so the weekend and the picnics next week don’t throw me above maintenance.
06/28 – 142 – I was very mindful of my eating yesterday and I’m preparing for the weekend. I need to do better drinking my water.
06/29 – 141.5 – I’m glad my weight dropped a little before my eating catches up with me tomorrow.

Day/Weight/Comment
06/22 134.2 Now that I'm down to the last 11 lbs (can't believe I'm finally saying that!), I need to figure out some real maintenance strategies. This is new territory, and I'm afraid of messing it up. From what I've learned from the maintenance forums, the trick is to go slooowly at the end. Hmmm, we'll see. I may reset my MFP goal to 1/2 lb a week when I have only 5 lbs to go, but not yet.
06/23 136.4 Everything was *super* salty yesterday and I didn't get in all my water (woke up this a.m. absolutely parched, which is never a good sign!). I thought it might show up 2 days days later, but here it is already. Because I've been doing this challenge long enough to have some insight into my weigh-ins, I know this isn't fat, and I'm not worried. Plus, after last round's whoosh of almost 6 lbs, I'm okay if the scale adjusts up a bit.
Advice from a maintainer that's good to keep in mind: "A slow, gradual upward creep over weeks is more likely to be fat gain. A big whalloping overnight gain from the middle of my range to/above the top of the range is more likely to be water/digestive contents. If I gain 3 pounds, and I'm pretty sure I didn't eat 10,500 calories above maintenance, I'm going to believe it's water weight/digestive contents, and give it a couple of days* to drop back rather than freaking out about it."
06/24 135.8 Despite my earlier declaration that I wasn't going to start slowing down yet, I got curious yesterday and played with the numbers by adjusting my MFP goal down to only 1/2 lb a week, which gives me almost 200 calories more per day. I've been stuck at only 1200 calories since I started logging in March, so I was excited to see such a "high" number (1390), and I used every calorie for once, plus a few extra. I'm completely sedentary- whatever the level below MFP's "Not Very Active" is, that's me- so none of this 'eat back your exercise calories' stuff for me, and it's a relief to think think I may be able to have a more relaxed calorie range at some point.
06/25 135.8 Well, this may be a maintenance round as I stabilize from the big loss how the bump in calories changes things. The experiment continues
06/26 137 Booooo. My stomach is bloated and I feel like nothing is moving through my system properly, so that may be what's going on, but still, boooooo!
06/27 135.2 Maintaining in the 135s, sorta. Probably the healthiest thing after last round's loss. I'm really making peace with going more slowly because I've lost on average 7 lbs a month for the past 3 months, and I'm on the home stretch. Yes, it's summer, yes, I'm getting in a pool at a resort next week, and it would be awesome to be at goal weight already, but I need to be smart and think long term. Too much, too soon, and I'll lose muscle (and I ain't got much of that to start with!).
06/28 135.2 LOL, big surprise.
06/29 133.8 This is my lowest weight in over a year! I'm going on vacation tomorrow, so it won't last, but at least today, I can say I'm 10 lbs from goal.

06/22- 248
06/23- 247 got my sweet Hank out for a walk today, happy dog. Light work around the house
06/24- 245 I have been stuck at 248 for foreverrrr. Is this just water loss, is it that I’m sticking to a calorie count? Hummm. I will not write about food here because it makes me hungry when I read it and other people’s post. Eeek. Tomorrow I have to really watch myself because in the evening friends come and there is something I really want to be able to have!
Does anyone use bulletproof coffee? I have ordered the brain octane. A fitness gaI have started following on Facebook says she puts that in her coffee in the morning instead of breakfast. I’m not a big breakfast eater so I would rather have a little something that way then be forced to sit down and eat breakfast. I know, Breakfast is a big deal, sometimes I try to at least have a hard-boiled egg but I really don’t like eating until 11. When I IF it’s perfect, by the time I get done with dinner I’m not supposed to be eating again until around 10.
06/25- 244 Other than walking costco, no exercise. Cant get motivated. doing good holding at calorie count.
06/26
06/27- 242.2. Weighing is in the am on all days
06/28- 242.2
06/29- 242.8. Big dinner out with friends. No idea how to log it.

R81 Goal: Round 80 was an insightful 3rd round for me. I learned a lot about my body and what causes fluctuations after noticing a trend of gaining weight following the previous day of intense exercise/lifting heavy weights. With this knowledge, I hope I can be kinder to myself and not launch into a chocolate bingeing frenzy when this is the case.
My overall aim for the whole month of June is to still train consistently - with that should come the weight / inch loss.

Expected a gain after Friday's boozing, then yesterday's treat meal was a calorie fest and my ⭐ week showed up, so the odds were defo against me this morning 😂
Very happy with myself because a treat meal usually turns into a full day, and sometimes even a weekend but I channelled that urge and carried on about my day. Expecting that gain to be away tomorrow, ⭐ week cramping and bloating permitting, so should finish the round with a loss.

06/22 - 201.4 - not a great start, exercise is not great because of injury, food could have been better and very little water
06/23 - 200.6 - ok food and water and managed a stroll.
06/24 - 200.6 - still the same but at least there was no gain. Food good but exercise was not happening.
06/25 - 199.6 - yes a loss. Good with food and water. Doing as much as I can with exercise.
06/26 - 201.2 - and yesterday was a very good day. How did I gain 1.6lb?
06/27 - 199.8 - and back down again. Yesterday was good.
06/28 - 199.8 - same again which is good.
06/29 - 201.4 - up again but I ate a lot of chocolate - emotional eating!
06/30 - 202.4 - away yesterday all food on the go.

Day/Weight/Comment
06/22 247 lbs trying to restart Keto with sister
06/23 245.8 lbs mostly water, but drinking a lot of fluids to flush the body. Calories still at the 2100 top end. Goal is to get in 10000 steps per day again.
06/24 244.8 lbs Drinking plenty of water so I am not dehydrating. Did a morning walk for 1.5 mile in the morning. Took a nice hike with my son on a local “hill” after work. Nice vertical and plateau.
06/25 243 was able to get a 60 minute walk in on the treadmill. Went 3 miles with inclines. Whatever will help prep the hike. Doing another tomorrow if all goes well.
06/26 242.6. Ate like a pig at s farmers market. Knew it would not end well. Need to get past the issue wasting food. No problem, back on the horse.
06/27 243.4 lbs
06/28 241.4 lbs Yesterday did another hike for just over 1.5 hours consisting of a lot of hills with my son. It was tougher but easier since the body is waking back up nicely. Still have a ways to go to climb Mt. Washington. I figure I have six weeks to be ready. Will have to take it easy today since I am giving blood. My blood type is always in very high demand. Very happy with my progress!
06/29 241.2 lbs this morning. Off to a morning hike with the boys. Had a big meal of bbq. Not what I would call a nutritious meal, but very good😂. Sensible eating the next 6-8 days.
06/30 243.6 yesterday ended in a lot of eating with family 😂. Way too much consumption. Oh well, New day and back to eating sensibly. Another hike today, but both boys today. All that matters is the overall weight loss direction is downhill.

06/22 - 191.7 - I'm happy to see this number but definitely surprised. I started IF last week, and I really feel like that helps me. Mostly bc I'm a snacker, so the later I start eating the less time I have to graze. Hopefully, this downward trend will continue!
06/23 - 192.4 - I’m not surprised by the gain. I had a bit too much wine last night, too many carbs and not enough water. I have a short run planned for today. IF is going to be tough today bc I drank that wine at 9, but I’m going to give it my best!
06/24 - 193.3
06/25 - 196.6 - (Yikes!)
06/26 - 194.6
06/27 - 193 - This round has been a roller coaster for me. A lot of the weight gain is water (TOM + lifting) so my goal for today is to complete my training run and drink 100 oz of water.
06/28 - 192.7 - Still making my way back down. Drank lots of water yesterday and didn't go overboard with my eating yesterday. I managed to complete my training run last night and I'm doing outdoor yoga this morning (if the rain holds off). I will try to drink 100 oz of water and get some exercise (hopefully yoga and a walk).
06/29 - 193.6 - I've been hitting the mark on exercise every day, hit or miss on the water and just barely hanging on with food (which is obviously the most important part).

Ending weight round 80- ???, for mental health reasons stopped weighing at 6/19. Picking this back up on 6/22 hopefully refreshed and ready to work!
UGW - somewhere in the mid-130's.
Goal for round 81 - FOCUS! Weight loss was great, then stalled a bit due to some stress and insomnia. Took a little break from the challenge in order to free up some brain space. I believe physical health follows mental health and I must be in the right mind space in order to track food intake.
6/22 - 140.9. Not as much damage as I expected after taking a few days off. Traveling today/tomorrow with extended family so no scale. When I get home tomorrow night I’m going to grocery shop and meal plan for the week and do my best to hit a deficit the last 8 days of the challenge.
6/23 - traveling no scale
6/24 - 142.0. Knew I had to face the music. This weekend consisted of fried salty food, cake, and not as much physical activity. Add in my TOM due tomorrow and that I haven’t “gone” in a couple of days due to travel, and I’m not surprised at all. I’m unhappy with the choices I made, but they are done and it’s time to move on. I’ve committed to movement every day and tracking my food to stay in a deficit each day the rest of this challenge. My husband is on board too after this weekend!
6/25 - 140.9. There goes some of the bloat from the weekend salty foods. Wins yesterday: hydrated very well, 30 min on elliptical, 30 min walk, in a caloric deficit, slept well. Ready for another good day.
6/26 - 140.4. Pleasantly surprised as my TOM hit and it’s brutal (sorry for the TMI). I have cramps, I’m super irritable and I’m hungry all the time. I gave it to the cravings yesterday quite a bit too. Won’t be surprised if it goes up again when that catches up to me but happy for the drop today. Wins yesterday: HIIT class, 2.75 mile walk, good water intake. Today I need to focus on diverting my attention from the binge cravings.
6/27 - 139.6. Shocked it went down, I thought it would be up. I feel so heavy and gross this week (thanks, TOM). And I've been so hungry. I did better yesterday with managing that - deciphering if I was truly hungry or just stressed - and I was truly hungry so I ate. Wins yesterday: 4 mile run, 4 mile walk. Hydrated well. Listened to hunger cues. We will see if the scale stays low or if this extra food catches up with me at some point.
6/28 - 140.4. Rough round. All my fault though. Gave in to the binge cravings yesterday. Wins: RPM class, hydrated well. Other than that, I ate way too much and was way too sedentary outside of my gym workout.
6/29 - 140.7. All due to my choices. I’m not in the head space for tracking and dieting right now. I need to either be ok with my weight for now and take a break, or get myself together.
6/30 - 139.6. This is the round of bouncing between this number and something in the 140’s. I think my body likes being here. Which is not bad, I’m at a healthy weight/body fat %. I’m at the point where I need to decide if I’m good staying here or if I want to push for those vanity pounds.

6/25 – 172.0 Late eating and lots of salt. Need to kick this pattern to the curb….sigh.

6/27 – 172.8 All one can do is move forward, learn from past mistakes and manage each day with a sense of newness and opportunity to change the course of action. This is what I tell myself when I see the numbers go up instead of down. Thanks for showing me daily it all can be reality.
6/28 – 172.4 – Did well with food intake but need to up the water. Here is to another successful day.

Period bloating. Also, ate too much junk yesterday (cookies and ice cream)
06/28-180.2

06/29-179.2
I’m sick I equate this 1 lb to drop to that.
06/30-179.2- still sick Cancelled my hike. Crappy eating day. Need to get better for my canoe trip next weekend.10 -
My first round.
SW: 200
GW: 175
This round I would like to lose 5lbs. Might seem like a lot for 7 days....
6/24: 200lbs I really want active yesterday. I stayed away from carbs so that is a plus. But I ate a lot of whoppers candy and 2 pieces of key lime pie. 😭😭Another positive I downed 1 gallons of water.
6/25 198.4 lbs today I will stay away from junk food.
6/26 198.2 lbs
6/27 196.2 lbs not sure how that happened. I totally ate fast food of shame yesterday. But I only had about 1/2 gallon of water.
6/28 196.8 lbs a little gain not to sad about it. Today I think I will exercise for a good minutes. Maybe the scale will love me tomorrow.
6/29 196.0 lbs I am happy. Hopefully I can survive the weekend.

6/22 169.9 I weighed and tracked all weekend but didn't update in here.
6/23 169.9
6/24 169.5
6/25 168.4 I took off Monday and today too, a mental health break. My BF had to go to Spain on Saturday, his brother had a stroke Friday night. While he's there he's going to do a check-up at the Cancer Center. He knew he had to go for a week this summer, and with his brother's stroke, it just made sense to do it now. Last year at this time he was there getting treatment. His illness prompted me to lose weight again. We've had a rough couple of years but things are looking good. Luckily he kept his Spanish citizenship so he gets free healthcare there.
6/26 166.4 This isn't a whooosh it's an "I was sick and didn't eat much yesterday". Isn't it ironic that I took off for mental health and woke up sick? I did get a 3-mile walk in, though maybe I shouldn't have walked at all. I ran a fever last night and one this morning, I'm taking meds and only in the office to print out stuff for tomorrow's meeting. I'm the featured presenter so hopefully, my nose and sinuses will calm down before tomorrow at 3:30. I wish this number 166 was real. I'm sure it will be 168
6/27 166.4 I'm happy, still suspicious but happy. I ate below yesterday but not by much but I did zero exercise. I woke up feeling much better this morning, thankfully. I think I will go to the gym tonight. I'm feeling about 90% well. No scale tomorrow. Happy Friday Eve
6/28 No Scale I did not go to the gym last night. After the 4 hour drive and presenting (non stop talking) I was more tired than I had expected. I went for a short indoor walk (the bank said 100 degrees) and crashed. Had not brought enough medicine - since I had felt so much better. That will teach me for feeling better. My plan now is to work this morning then drive home. There is a Planet Fitness about 45 minutes into the drive home, I'll stop there. Then if I'm too tired to do anything tonight - who cares
6/29 168.4. I knew the 166 was related to my cold and not eating much. I’m fine with this.
6/30 168.0 woohoo down a little. Walked 3 hot miles yesterday. Woke up to repeat this morning but my legs weren’t into it. Some days MS says it’s too much. I’ve finally learned to listen. That’s ok cause there are still calories to burn cleaning house and shopping in the ac!

Phooey! But ok, I did over-indulge on Saturday - emotional/frustration eating. Major problems with the so-called landscaper we hired to dig out new beds -- aside from never showing up when he promises and then working an hour or less per day, he dumped a load of clay fill into our beds instead of garden soil. Aaaggghhh! I'm so frustrated - I have perennials & annuals sitting in pots as I expected to have them in the ground 2 weeks ago. So I ate chocolate and other junk to comfort myself, which of course it did not. What did help was when I decided take back control, so I bought myself a small electric tiller and some cheap planters to hold the plants until the beds are actually ready, and I planted the annuals in my existing front-yard beds. They'll be crowded, but that's ok, they're in the ground and can be moved later. I HATE depending on unreliable people, and this guy takes the cake. Anyway, I know part of this bump up is water because I had way too much sodium, and I'm taking back control of my emotions and food as well as my garden. So there! (Sorry for the off-topic rant, but really it's not since most of us are familiar with eating in the face of frustration, and the post-bad-eating recriminations.)
6/25 - 160.4
I behaved myself yesterday and have my eating plan in place for today. All good. I moved my bigger perennials into bigger pots and put all the annuals intended for new beds into my existing beds so they're not in the tiny pots. I may start tilling a new space today. Not a peep from the so-called landscaper. Grrrr.
6/26 - 159
I won't hold my breath, but supposedly the "landscaper" will be here today to take back the clay he dumped in my flower beds, and then we're done and I can do the rest myself. I have all sorts of yard projects planned for after I get my plants in the ground, so yay summer! I also have an one-person art show opening Sunday, so I have to get my paintings organized today to hang tomorrow. And Friday a friend is dividing some perennials to give me more to plant. And Greek Fest runs tomorrow through Sunday -- always a wonderful event with GREAT food, mostly not too off-diet (except baklava). So I'm off for a nice walk now, then the paintings, then....Busy week! Have a lovely!
6/27 - 158.4
We fired the "landscaper" -- I feel SO much better. Ordering soil today and I'll do the rest myself. Big beds -- the whole back of the house other than patio + one side of the backyard + back of backyard. I can't wait to dig in the dirt -- and aside from the pleasure I get from playing with plants, it's great exercise and I don't snack. Yay!
6/28 - 159.6
Pizza. So sodium. I went over my calorie goal, but barely, and I did a fair amount of work in the garden, so all good.
6/29 - 159
Lots of wheeling soil from driveway to garden yesterday. Back at it today. Yay!
6/30 - 159.2
I moved wheelbarrows of topsoil for 2.5 hours yesterday and ate responsibly, so I assume this is holdover from Thursday’s pizza. More soil to move, but one bed is full and the promise contained in this beautiful soil makes me happy. And I have a one-woman art show opening today. All good! Have a lovely Sunday!

@nikki062181 This 38-year-old just finished up round 80 with a 4.2lb loss. Yay!!!! I met my goal but barely the last 10 days. Here is to meeting it again in this 10 days. I was 17lbs from my goal weight and have since gained 17 additional pounds. I'd like to at least lose those 17 lbs before I have to start teaching again. I've had it hard the last year. My MIL, who I consider my Mom, passed away from a long battle with lung cancer. My Grandpa passed away 8 months later. I graduated from college while being married and having 3 kiddos, and completed my first year in the classroom last year. I also found out that my middle child is battling multiple mental illnesses, which were triggered by the loss of his Grandma. I had to take a step away from my weight loss journey. My family needed me, but I need to be healthy too. So, here I am...going for it again.
GOALS FOR THE WEEK!
First step: Continue to track calories
Second step: Continue to measure my portions
Third step: Continue to cut out carbonated beverages
Fourth step: Continue to cut out too many sweets
5th step: Push water!!!!
6th step: Take my B12 supplement daily at lunch because I have a deficiency
7th step: Walk 15 minutes a day at minimum and do arm exercises starting on Monday for this goal.
OSW: 232 lbs
CSW: 154.8 lbs
CGW: 150 - 151
UGW: 125 lbs
Here is to wishing we can all achieve our goal! 🙏
6/22: 154.8 I ate a very healthy, high protein lunch yesterday, so I could have pancakes, hashbrowns, and a flurry for my birthday treat. I am so glad I did because I did not want to wake up and regret my weight gain this morning. I had almost forgotten to take my B12 also, so I ended up taking that one late. I'm very inconsistent with the time I weigh myself too. When I head back into work in August, times will finally be consistent. Until then, I want to enjoy when I get up...whenever that is.
6/23: 154.2 My son begged me not to make anything healthy because his gf came over last night, and he didn't want to be embarrassed. My husband asked me to eat whatever I wanted when I ordered carryout from this pizza joint. I knew I had treated myself already because of my birthday on Friday. So, I had a salad with extra protein and some breadsticks. It paid off. 😁
6/24: 153.8 I have really been enjoying these smoothies for breakfast. They're quite yummy. Since I have life threatening food allergies, I have to be creative when making some things. So, I cannot use a lot of fruit or fillers like most are able to. However, the ones I've been having are quite refreshing.
6/25: 152.6 A NEW LOW for many months! I did not do well on the water intake. I did complete my first day of exercise on the 30 day challenge. I changed it from arm to full body. Since it finally did not rain either, I went biking for a half hour too.
6/26: 152.4 I struggled yesterday. I was not feeling well at all. I didn't eat or drink well. I did complete my full body workout though. I remember why I cannot stand squats.
6/27: 154.4 🤔 Maybe because I ate later or did not drink enough? 🤷♀️
6/28: 153.8 Back down to where I was 4 days ago. I feel like a yo-yo. I have a feeling I will not meet my goal this round, so I'm hoping that I at least lose some weight.
6/29: 152.8 I let myself have a high carb, high calorie treat day yesterday.
6/30: 153 I had another high carb, high calorie treat day yesterday to boost my metabolism. Back to my regular diet today. I also went swimming. 😁7 -
Sneaking in for the last few days. I have gone up to worse than I was at the beginning of the year. Best thing though I quit any drinking and feel amazing. Time to tackle my weight..replaced booze with junk food sigh. 12lbs back on in 8 rounds

If all goes well I should see my goal of 60 pounds lost since starting my journey and get close or into the high 310’s.
06/22 322.8 I took it easier yesterday due to the 110 heat here so this is a loss of the water weight I had put on yesterday.
06/23 322.2 So close... My steps remain good, a little over 7k yesterday if the midday heat hadn’t been so bad I would have hit 8k. Today the rain and a bit of muscle tenderness is going to keep my steps lower. I’d rather nurse it for a day than pull it and be down a week, which is what happened last time I didn’t listen to my body.
06/24 321.4 Yay! That makes a little over 60 pounds lost since I started this journey. Hopefully I’ll see the end of the 320’s soon, they have been a little rough for me. I didn’t rest enough yesterday so today will be a full rest day to deal with a still sore calf muscle.
06/25 321.0 I’m so happy to see another loss. I think I have figured out some of what has been causing the bouncing and have adjusted my food plan. Judging by the lack of bounce since the shift I might have this figured out now.
06/26 321.8 Inflammation and hormones are the reason for this bounce. I’m also very hungry this morning. I’ve had the same thing happen at the same point in my cycle since I started this journey and usually I end up binging around dinner time. I’m going to try to make a plan and hopefully stay on track.
06/27 319.0 It’s the 310’s finally! I think that I lost all the water that has been masking weight loss. I double checked this four times, on the fourth it was a little lower, but I decided to record the higher since it came up first. I won’t be surprised if I have a bounce back up a little, that happens to me sometimes after a high drop. I stayed on track yesterday and added in some instant breakfast to my plain yogurt to satisfy my chocolate craving. When I wanted crunchy mid afternoon I snacked on an apple and peanut butter instead of crackers and cereal.
06/28 319.2 I was active yesterday, but I don’t think I got in all my water. I’m just happy that I didn’t end up with a huge bounce up.
06/29 318.4 I was expecting a bounce up because I started weight lifting yesterday. It was kept on the lighter side though because I didn’t want to over push myself. Over the last few days I’ve found myself a little hungry midday and today I’m shifting some calories to my lunch in hopes of curbing it before it’s a problem. If it still continues I may shift to planning a snack, something I’ve been avoiding doing because I prefer the three meals route. My nsv yesterday was finally starting weight lifting, I had been finding excuses to not do it for some time now.
06/30 316.6 That’s below the goal I set for mid next month as part of a challenge. I’ve been very on track since my binge early in the month and I’m seeing my plan of stay on track and getting active paying off.

Joining in for at least part of round 81!
Female, 57 yy, 4'11''
OSW 177.1 lbs
LTG: 110.0 lbs
STG: 139.8 lbs (just like the idea of being below 140, but not as close as 139.9 but will take that too just to get below 140 :-)
MTG: 123.4 lbs Leave Overweight category and get into Healthy BMI range
Goal for 10 day Challenge - lose 2 pounds (138.9)
Day/Weight/Comment
06/22: 140.9 Up 0.3 pounds from yesterday; but not unexpected as weight dropped 2.2 pounds from the day before (serious whoosh, so usually see a bump up until it settles over a couple of days). Had 1 hour step class this morning and really pushed it - burned 388 calories in the hour (ok that is a lot for me!) and had heart rate in peak zone for 54% of the class! Some weights and other functional training then back home. Lazy afternoon with some weeding in the garden until the ants and mosquitoes drove me in! Big dinner - grilled swordfish with olive tapenade/tomato sauce, saffron rice & black beans and fresh greens from farmers market, although within calorie budget. Still feel like I am retaining water (extra exercise?) so curious what weight will be tomorrow. I do need to figure a better way to distribute calories more through out the day, but dinner is my favorite meal of the day and so far do not have time to cook dinner foods for breakfast or have gotten leftover portions quite right.
06/23: 140.3 Yeah!!! dropped down below round 80 ending weight! Today is my official "rest day", but may still try to get in 30-45 minutes of walking or light elliptical for some cardio and probably some stretching or yoga as legs feel tight after yesterdays workout. Slept in today so probably going to have just two main meals (brunch/dinner) and snacks. Dinner tonight is grilled bigeye tuna with fresh mango salsa!
06/24: 139.7 Wow rest days rock!!! Made my short term goal to get below 140 !!! Not sure if I will make round goal of losing 2 pounds as will not be able to weigh in after Thursday but at least a great start! Did step class this morning, but could not stay for spin or weights, so went back in for spin class in evening. No weights today due to crazy schedule so will start tomorrow. Cavatappi with duck bolognese and smoked mozzarella for dinner - satisfied my love for pasta, but still within calorie limit! Hope the higher carbs do not create a bump! Apple Watch is suggesting that my resting metabolic rate is dropping (as expected due to weight loss) so either need to 1) up exercise; 2) decrease calories consumed; or 3) adjust to idea of slower weight loss going forward (so far I have been doing more of (1). Currently calories consumed are close to what I would eat at goal weight for maintenance with modest activity, so really think best options are 1 or 3. (next week it is going to have to be 3 :-) due to travel!
06/25: 140.2 Well not completely unexpected as typically see a big drop and then a bump up. Overall downward trend shows that I am still on track. I don;t expect a drop tomorrow as today was heavy leg weights (usually see a bump up after that) Exercise was good today (latin dance, weights (legs) and yoga, so expect this will even out in a day or two! Tomorrow is BodPod day. Gymaholic thinks my body fat is around 36% based on neck, waist and hip measurements (with height) so interested in what results will be! (hoping that with the weight training it is lower!!!)
06/26: 139.8 Yeah!!! Back to short term goal of being below 140!!! BodPod analysis came back 40% body fat at current weight (still have 30 pounds to lose) but the goal is to keep up the weight training with cardio so that body fat percentage is lower (predicted to be 25% at goal weight of 110, but would be 30% with just cardio! The staff person doing the test did indicate that my body fat and BMI were tracking together, so that basing weight goals on BMI would be useful for indicating healthy weight based on % fat. This also provided an estimate of resting metabolic rate of 1100 calories and average non-exercise rate of 1350; currently I am targeting 1400 calories a day so if that is accurate, all of the deficit for weight loss is coming from exercise. May repeat the BodyGem BMR test (should be more accurate) to see if BMR really has changed that much now that I am just below the midpoint of journey. Exercise planned for today: upper body weights and spin class.
06/27: 138.8 Thrilled to see my 10 day goal of losing 2 pounds today. Did not have time to use the elliptical trainer at home, so just going to have to get steps in at the airport. Walked rather than took the train during layover in Atlanta and did laps around the terminal so that I could at least get the minimum exercise calories to close all of my rings! Then 8 hour flight to UK. Challenge will be to at least maintain current weight over the next 6 days while out of the country. Last international trip in March I ended up gaining weight (too much beer and bar snacks and limited walking) so will be more careful this time! There is supposed to be university gym access through the conference so did bring some workout clothes and hope to get in more exercise than just walking. Although not an early morning person at home, might be a great way to spend time if I do have jet lag!
06/28: DNW. Arrived in UK this morning, but between walking to immigration, to catch tube/train and on campus I managed to get in 17,000+ steps! Had some down time this afternoon and walked to the gym (about 10 minutes away) and got a 30 minute workout on a recombinant bike; really helped with combatting afternoon jet lag. All of the spin bikes at the gym are too high for me (under 5') but lots of ellipticals so will try to go there before breakfast in am. Need to remember to bring AirPods if I want to do a HIIT workout. At the end of the day did burn over 800 calories! Managed to control eating, even with going to the pub this evening - ordered large salad with grilled halloumi rather than the really greasy fish and chips and had gin and tonic with light tonic. The gym has a scale so may weigh in tomorrow just to keep as eye on weight (will be with gym clothes so could subtract a pound).
06/29: DNW Woke up at 5, but went back to bed as gym did not open to 7, but ended up sleeping to 7:30 as alarm was set for pm not am! Got to gym before conference started, so tried out an elliptical like machine, but only had 20 minutes after figuring out the equipment. Did get lots of steps in so hoping active enough to stay in maintenance. Not a lot of great food choices for lunch at the conference, so was pretty hungry by dinner. Best option, as only the bar menu was available, was grilled cajun breast with Caesar salad. Met some colleagues who had not seen me since I started exercising this year and had lots of positive feed back and encouragement!
06/30: 138.7* Got to the gym at 7 and tried out their fancy scale (gym is completed wired/high tech with QR codes to login to cardio and even weight machines and syncs back to iPhone/Health Kit! Weight was 140.2 after conversion from kg, so subtracted 1.5 pounds for clothes (might have to adjust when I get back home, but at least in a reasonable ballpark. Scale gave %Body fat, but it was 10% lower than BodPod measurement so not going to update that. Tried some of the weight machines; displays show a "sine" wave with a ball that stays green if you lift/lower according to the suggested pace; kind of cool for keeping a certain pace/breathing or learning I guess. Gym at home is pretty low tech in comparison! Tried to do my HIIT workout using Seconds on my phone on the elliptical, but not all of the (re) downloaded music was syncing properly (need to fix while on wifi!) Missed breakfast in order to shower and lunch choices had virtually no protein (to avoid the fatty carbs) so hungry already! Grabbed a pear for a snack for the next break, and will get cheese at the poster session (need to not over do the cheese!) but going off campus for dinner hopefully!
