I’ve been so obsessive about losing body fat. Since I am skinny fat (24 male 6’ 1” ~151 lbs with about 15% body mass). I’ve been doing Keto for 5-6 days with a 5% net carb, 20% protein, 75% fat. I was wondering if the Keto diet has helped with skinny fat or people in general and if I should continue. Also this is a 1500 daily calorie goal.

Skinny fat is usually a way of saying that muscle mass is lower than usual. Lack of carbs doesn't contribute much to solving that, what contributes the most is having a progressive resistance training routine, eating enough protein, and not eating a low calories diet. 1500 calories is the absolute minimum for an inactive male, so you're already contributing to the problem regardless of what diet you're following, more so if you're active.

I used to overeat a lot and I worry that I’ll be fat and unattractive. What would you suggest eating wise?

Meal prepping on Keto is just so much work! 🤦🏽‍♀️ I know it works I just can’t seem to stay on it long enough because it’s so time consuming. Plus coffee creamer is my weakness! 😩😩

My first week of keto I was going nuts over meal prepping and COFFEE CREAMER!!!

I even tried sugar free French vanilla creamer which made be bloat up.

So, I came up with a creamer I've actually come to enjoy:
1/4 cup (or more) of half and
    half
    1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa
    powder (I prefer Trader Joe's)
1 1/2 tbsp of Stevia in raw (or
    monk fruit).
Put all in a small sauce pan, heat on low while coffee is brewing, stirring occasionally with a fork or whisk, until cocoa powder is mostly blended (only takes a couple of minutes).

I have a whole lot of quick easy meals now too. Most things I fix are 5-10 minutes of prep or cooking.

Keto works wonders! Has for my friends and I. Keep it under 20 and WEIGH EVERYTHING. Track it all. There’s so many hidden sugars (carbs) out there that if you don’t weigh you’ll be way off.

I keep my net carbs under 20. Most of the carbs on that chart is fiber from eating nuts like almonds and flax seeds

So why do you want to lose weight? Skeletons aren’t attractive!

Also, I believe Fat on the body serves a purpose. I’m not sure what, but I would bet some of the more knowledgeable people here on mfp could explain it to us.

Eat at maintenance, get enough protein and follow a structured lifting program. I would advise against losing more weight with your stats. (I am 5'6" and weigh more than you do, and am not that big)

My live-in boyfriend wanted to go on the keto diet, because I was starting it. I asked him to give me a week head start, because he doesn't have much to lose, he's male, and much younger than myself (in his mid-twenties).

He started a couple of days after me, it has affected him in the strangest way.... Before starting to eat keto, he had what I call chicken limbs (very skinny arms and legs with very little muscle mass).

After four weeks, he has biceps showing up and his legs look more meaty or is it beefy (not sure which word is the right one).

He doesn't work out, aside from mowing the yard. He did tell me one day he did some wall push-ups, but that's it!

We've come to just say the keto diet is crazy with insane unbelievable results!! And we love it!

When I did keto I didn't magically grow a bunch of muscle, but it gave me the power to levitate and to raise the dead. If you stick with it for a couple weeks you'll be able to control the weather. Carbs are turning our super powers off.

Shame on you for failing to mention The Miraculous Benefits of Coconut Oil.

What’s go good about coconut oil? It has high saturated fat. Is there something that I’m missing here?

I’m insecure about my body and I am mostly home doing art. So I don’t exercise much besides body weight exercises like crunches and push-ups.

MFP is an evidence based community. When I say that I mean the regulars here. A lot of people join, and come into the forums when they're starting out on their fitness journey, and ask questions about things they've heard, or coincidences they've noticed. Like the lady who's boyfriend became a ripped body builder with no exercise by not eating carbs. There have been some amazing and unsubstantiated claims about coconut oil too. Coming back to this being an evidence based community, it was an in joke, I dialed the hyperbole up to 11 about keto but forgot about other woo. Apple cider vinegar is another one, if you drink a shot glass full it erases thousands of calories.

Sorry if that answer want funny enough. 😕
