I am so frustrated. Grrr. I gain 3lbs on vacay (even though I thought I made mostly good food choices). Then came home did 16/8 fasting for a week - avoided the scale and I’m up another pound! I know it’s not a lot but I have been fighting to get under 160 for months (and did!) and here I am and feel no matter what I do the scale doesn’t go down. Pissed this am. Thanks for listening.
07/15 - 160.8 would love to see 159
07/16 - 159.8 yes! Apparently I do better just counting calories instead of fasting.... body needs food.

07/13 130.6 run today.

07/15 129.8 Holy Moly, I’m doing it! Back in the 120’s after 20 yrs!! Goin for a run today. Psyched!
07/16 129.4 Still trekking down on the scale. Today is floor and upper body day again. Still achy from 7/14. Ate well with lots of vegetables yesterday, well under calorie goal. Not starving here but exploring new definition notions of “meal”.

Vacation and tons of activities, I've been slacking off a bit lately and gained 2 lbs over the last month. I need a serious reset over the next 10 days. Rather bloated this morning so I feel that 4 lbs is doable.
Goals: 1. Work out at lunch 4x a week
2. 2 Reps of 5 Push ups daily & 2 Reps of 1 min planks daily
Day/Weight/Comment
07/12: 147.0 - Yoga Burn at lunch + Push Up + Plank. Big family dinner at nice place, tried to keep my eating light. Had 1000 calories saved up for dinner.
07/13 - didn't weigh in - busy day. Lot of walking and baseball game. Ate a pretty large mexican food meal - but only ate 1x all day.
07/14: 145.6 - Another busy day with kid's baseball. Gardened quite a bit and worked around the house.
07/15: 144.6 - YAY!!!!! I feel like the bloat is leaving!

7/12 169.9 Got home Wednesday night weighed - 173.5. This morning 169.9 and hopefully down more tomorrow. While I was in Colorado I stayed within calories all but one day and even then was 200 over. I walked every day I was there. I had the most fantastic walks of my life. Like I'm trying to figure out how quickly I can go back just to walk trails. Turns out I love hiking, I mean it kicks my booty when I'm doing it but I have personally never done any physical exercise that gave me such a feeling of accomplishment. Please see the pic below, this is what I got to see after sweating my *kitten* off for twenty minutes climbing up. So this water weight is no biggie, I haven't been drinking as much water as I should, now that I'm home my regular routine should take care of that. I need to get caught up with you guys. HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
7/13 168.4 Not as big of a drop as I had hoped but I know I'm still retaining water. I got in a little over 3 miles and mowed the front and back yard before it got too hot. Spent the rest of the day with the BF. The first time we've seen each other in almost a month.
7/14 169.1 Dang it! Too much sodium for someone who was already retaining water. Why do chicken cranberry sausages have to have so much friggin' sodium? Walked 3 miles, trying to keep up the miles in the heat is challenging but I'm trying Spent the rest day with the most beautiful "like a grandbaby" girl ever. She was "helping" me water flowers. ch5zyycq0tl2.jpg
7/15 169.4 I guess I've still not drunk enough water. I know the calories I ingested would not cause me to gain 2 pounds. It has to be water retention. It cooled down to a high of 85 today, so I'll hit the trail after work. It's Monday for sure, I'm so tired.
7/16 168.2 That’s better. Walked 3 last night. I should be able to get three in tonight before the temperature goes into the 90’s for the next 5 days. Headed to StL today. I won’t have a scale until Friday. I’m going to try to drink water while driving instead of tea. It definitely helps with water retention.15 -

@pcs2362 - Hi Patty! It does look like we have very similar starting stats, although I’d love to have your extra height. Last year in March 2018, after a health scare with my husband, I decided that I needed to lose weight, but I also needed to find a way to keep my weight loss going without changing my whole lifestyle. I knew I wouldn’t stick to it if I had to commit to gym workouts 3-4 times a week or eliminate certain foods and drinks from my diet. I set MFP to a sedentary lifestyle and weight loss of 1 pound a week. I entered my measurements. I also bought a cheap fitbit to track my steps and synced it with my MFP account. I followed CICO (calories in/calories out). I used a food scale and the recipe builder in MFP to account for everything I ate. When I hit the lower 170’s in May of 2018, I plateaued and knew I had to find something to keep me going. That’s when I found this challenge. I’d been weighing daily, but finding others who were going through the same thing as me and sharing the challenges of the weekend indulgences and plateaus but they were still posting their weight and giving their insights, gave me the extra push I needed to continue my plan and drop to this weight that I haven’t seen since I was 37.
Currently, during the work week, I try to stay around 1400 to 1500 calories a day and then indulge a little on the weekend. I find or make lower calorie versions of food I love. My go to treat in the summer is a Keebler ice cream cup filled with Halo Top ice cream (approx. 85 calories). I drink lots of water and continue taking my measurements. Knowing that I’m weighing and reporting the next day has really kept me from over-indulging on a regular basis. Even when my weight goes up, I know it would have been worse if I wasn’t posting here. It took me about 9 months to lose around 40 pounds, which is slow, but that time was going to pass anyway and by taking my time I rarely felt like I was missing out on something really good.
I bumped into the “paper towel” analogy on another weight loss forum and it also helped when the weight loss started to slow down. Think of your body and weight as a roll of paper towels. Each pound lost is like tearing off a sheet. When you start, you don’t see much of a difference in the size of the roll for each sheet pulled, but each subsequent sheet pulled is making a bigger difference in the size of the roll.
To summarize, whatever weight loss plan you decide to follow, as long as you stick with this challenge, you’ll do great! Good Luck!

07/12 – 141.5 – Great start for the weekend. Our city is having an Italian Festival right outside my office door. I ate half a Stromboli for lunch yesterday and had a small salad at home for supper to compensate for the extra calories. Our grandson is spending the night tonight and he will want Chinese food, so no Italian for me today. I’m just realizing that after over a year of watching calories, these food decisions are starting to become second nature to me.
07/13 - 142 – Not unexpected due to the sodium in the Chinese food.
07/14 – 143 – Drinks and snacks with some unexpected visitors last night, then I didn’t eat great today either. It’s the weekend! I don’t want to weigh tomorrow, but I will.
07/15 – 143.5 – Not as bad as I expected, although it could still show up tomorrow. Back to weight loss calories for the week. We have plans to head to wine country by Lake Erie this weekend and I’d like to be back down before we go.
07/16 – 143 – Slowly but surely.

UGW - somewhere in the mid-130's.
Goal for round 83 - discipline, get myself in the right head space. I do well for a couple of rounds, and then stagnate for a couple. Last round was not indicative of real life with travel, different work hours, and a small medical procedure at the end that has left me swollen and retaining fluid. I really want to regroup this round and get where I need to be mentally. But I need to find the drive. That's my biggest hurdle - I lose focus when stress and anxiety pop up, get upset with myself, and then spiral down more.
7/12 - 141.5. Not the right direction. Couldn't work out yesterday due to a small dermatology procedure, didn't think I ate poorly but I did eat a couple of oreos. Oh well. Today is a new day. Frustrated that I'm 2.4 lbs over my low less than 2 weeks ago, but I have to look forward not back.
7/13 - 140.9. Leg/core weight circuit yesterday, hydrated well, stayed in a deficit.
7/14 - 140.0. Spent all day yesterday outside at my daughter’s softball tournament, head index 106 degrees. No workout but I sweated all day long and it was too hot to eat much so I was in a deficit. Day two of tourney today. Hydration is the main goal, for my daughter and me.
7/15 - 140.7. 4 mile run and 2 mile walk yesterday. Then sat in the heat at the second day of the tournament, followed by the end of season team party. Indulged in pizza and cake at the party.
7/16 - 141.1. I'm stuck, mentally and physically. My head isn't in this anymore. I grazed too much yesterday. I walked 4 miles and took bodycombat, don't think I drank enough water to make up for all of the dehydration from the weekend. I need to work on the mental side of this. Honestly, I'm tired of thinking about weight loss and food choices. It's taking up a lot of mental space. I need to get past that feeling and remember why I want to lose weight. I'm fighting bad genetics (huge history of heart problems in my family) and don't want to have the health issues my family does. I'll get there again at some point.13 -
@ConfidentRaven You are doing really well! 50# in less than 5 months, if I counted correctly. Awesome!
@acquilla30 I get you with the stomach apron. I don’t know how old you are but for myself, at 69, tummy tuck is not an option. It will shrink to some degree but now I need a garment to hold in the deflated tire. 😕
@amn0619 Hang in there! You’ve got this! The crazy bouncing caused me to take 4 MONTHS to get through the 140’s! You can do this!7 -

What we need to succeed is a sustainable way of eating, not a DIET we go on and off.
This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE.
7/11 123.0
7/12 121.0 WTH?? Happy new round to me?? Got daughter home from hospital, meds picked up at pharmacy and I think last night was a good night. Not sure why I’m losing. I’ve been eating.
7/13 121.0 It was a good day, I think. We didn’t do much of anything. LOL We had zucchini pizza boats for dinner-I modified the recipe because we are pretty much OMAD, and added extra protein. DGS works at the movie theater and we asked him to bring us a small buttered popcorn. I haven’t had popcorn in almost 2 years. The first bite was MEH but after that it really was delish. I hope I haven’t openers a Pandora’s box!
7/14 121.0
7/15 121.5 Pool (she can’t get in), walk, and Mazzio’s salad bar yesterday. Up 0.5, probably that popcorn rearing it’s ugly head! Oh well.
7/16 122.0 Pretty sure this is still the popcorn. @Mbabydoll and I did all of the laundry- 4 loads. Her washer is huge! She took a picture of me trying to reach the bottom of the tub. And fancy so I loaded and moved laundry and she pushed the buttons! LOL We had Green Chile and Chicken Mock Enchilada Casserole around noon and a salad later in the day.9 -

I know I checked in yesterday, but my post seems to have disappeared. Oh well. We’re going to an art fair this afternoon — part of the city-wide festival that runs from yesterday through next weekend. Looking forward to it! Have a lovely weekend, all!

DH told me last night “you have a lot of muscle.” I’m still smiling! Have a beautiful Sunday, all!

Yesterday afternoon I went hiking at one of our beautiful county parks. It was hot, but they have fields of native prairie wildflowers, and deep fragrant forest with one of Indiana's designated Scenic Waterways running through. And I came face to face with a doe on the trail.

I appear to be stuck, but it's ok, I've been eating happily -- hungry with the work/fun of putting in a new garden. Today is mulching day if the rain holds off. If it doesn't, that's ok, too, as we really need it and I could do some laundry. I thought I'd add a happy pic I took yesterday -- the view from my office window. When we moved in, there were huge clumps of pampas grass blocking this & the bedroom window. Here's the redo as it currently stands.

I was sure I'd be at least the same weight today as I was yesterday, since I'm on my 30th hour of fast. I suppose the cheating over the weekend has come into play.
It could also be water weight. We'll see. I'm glad to be back shifting around 160 now. That 165 was a surprise. I knew I'd gain a little, but not 5lbs!14 -

@quiltingjaine thank you for your kind words. It does make me feel better to know I'm not the only one who has been stuck in this range. I also know it's much harder when you're close to goal weight and I need to make some additional changes if I want to get there. That's what is hard - I don't want to make any more changes LOL. Best of luck to you and your daughter!7

end goal: 125
GOAL: Be AWARE of my food choices...
WHY ---do I choose what I choose
WHEN --do I choose the food I choose
HOW ---do those choices impact your weight and fitness goals? The understanding of these questions should be enlightening to help me make better future decisions and change patterns of behavior
3rd round for me. This is a great way to keep in touch with others with similar goals. I'm 49 yo female Canadian expat living in Central America. Good luck all for to continuing the journey to all our goals. On 6/25 I decided to give up alcohol for a month, partly to help with weight loss, but who am I kidding...lol I need a etoh break anyways. So, I'm doing my exercise, mindful choices with food, and haven't had etoh in 21 days.

Vacation and tons of activities, I've been slacking off a bit lately and gained 2 lbs over the last month. I need a serious reset over the next 10 days. Rather bloated this morning so I feel that 4 lbs is doable.

2. 2 Reps of 5 Push ups daily & 2 Reps of 1 min planks daily

07/12: 147.0 - Yoga Burn at lunch + Push Up + Plank. Big family dinner at nice place, tried to keep my eating light. Had 1000 calories saved up for dinner.

07/14: 145.6 - Another busy day with kid's baseball. Gardened quite a bit and worked around the house.

7/12 143, not too bad for being lower than usual on water and not working out as much as I normally do (in the middle of my TOM). Hoping to get my energy to today for 70 minutes on the elliptical.
7/13 142.8, going to the museum with a friend and then a yoga class later in the afternoon. Food is all prepped, so just hope to drink enough water throughout the day and keep to the plan .
7/14 141.2, today’s my last day of my cycle so a lot of the weight drop can be attributed to that, but still great to be almost in the 130s and at my round goal. One small victory is that I noticed that I’m under my license weight of 145. I put that number when I was in the 160s because I was too ashamed to put my real weight.
7/15 141.6, this is the second month that I recorded my TOM weight. I normally just track, but don’t actually look at the trends on what happens. Last month, I stalled for two weeks after so hopefully that won’t happen again. But if it does, I can prepare more next month. I won’t be making any radical changes to my diet or exercise this week to really see what my body does.
7/16 140.6, really don’t understand the weight loss today, but I’ll take it! Going to a baseball game with a friend and going to have a hot dog and a beer (will make sure in calories, but life is too short to not enjoy some days!)

07/12 160.4 - 14,300 No diet change. It is water retention because I am uncomfortably puffy again. Started birth control last week for medical reasons and even though doctor said it wouldn’t affect weight, I have to believe that is where this is coming from. I’m having a few other issues as well. Maybe it is just a transition time - I hope. This stinks! 😔
07/13 160.8 - 14,000
07/14 159.6 - 15,600
07/15 159.0 - 14,100 It seems like I’m just losing at a “normal” rate instead of the fluid going away because I should be down a few pounds. I guess I am just happy to be moving in the right direction and proud to be staying on plan. It has been much harder this week. I’m having insane hunger/cravings.
07/16 157.6 - 11,900 A new low! I’ve changed my goal three times now but I really think I’m getting close. Maybe 145-150ish??

12: 241.4 Whew. Not liking that number so much. 😕 Did pretty well with food today. I was surprised that Fitbit gave me about 900 exercise calories. I only used 5 of them, but that was only by chance as I synced and logged my food at the end of the day. Goal for tomorrow - log as I eat.
13: 241.6 Feedback: Lack of sleep actually hinders weight loss. On the plus side, I started my day off with an organic vegan sprouted protein shake with Brain Octane oil and Mighty Maca...and I logged it before the first sip! Great way to start my day!
14: 241.5 Not gonna lie, I'm irritated by this, but I also know that's not gonna help change it. I'm doing the right things, so I know the scale will catch up at some point. Hopefully soon!

@deepwoodslady Thank you! I didn’t used to be, I let my diagnoses beat me down for a long time. I had an incident late last year that made me see that I was quickly heading toward being bed bound. I’m determined to avoid that potential fate for as long as possible, so I use that fear to get myself moving and motivated. You are doing great too and we all have our weak moments, and you are decidedly the sum of all your parts.
@quiltingjaine I believe that you are correct, I’ve lost about 50 since joining this challenge and I had lost 20 before joining. I know eventually the loss will slow down, but I’m enjoying the faster loss, hopefully for a little longer. It’s hard to believe that it’s been 5 months since I joined because it doesn’t feel like it’s been that long.10 -

My goal for this round is to get out of the 310s and stay on track with my food and fitness plans.
07/12 312.0 I’m happy that I’m not up from all the activity yesterday. I did 2 sets of a bodyweight workout minus planks and I got in 10k steps. I’m feeling it all today so I’m going to take it easy today. My nsv was hitting 10k steps!
07/13 311.2 I’m still feeling the other day and I’m having a flare up of my MS. I have a plan in place and I’m not going to use it as an excuse to sit around and eat. I’m going to try to do little bits of activity as I can throughout the day.
07/14 311.6 I managed strength training yesterday and I was a bit high in sodium and carbs, plus a little later of a night and then earlier morning.
07/15 310.4 I got in decent steps yesterday by doing several short walks as I felt like I could. I’m having to use my cane, but I’m not beating myself up about it. I have a plan in place for the next week because we’ll be at about 100 before any heat index, which usually brings it up around 105-110. I hope to get a few walks today because the weather is going to be nice.
07/16 310.4 I got in a number of walks yesterday thanks to the slightly cooler weather and ended up a little over 10k in steps. I’m still having to use my cane and I’m not the fastest walker right now but that’s okay, I’m just happy to be out walking. The rest of this week I’m mostly staying inside because of the excessive heat , but I can use a lower activity day or two.

Day/Weight/Comment
07/12- 223 A good day but my carbs have been creeping up, I'll need to track and plan better.
07/13- DNW
07/14- DNW This was my son's birthday party and it was a challenge!
07/15- 224.6 I was off Keto yesterday for the birthday party - I had some cake, fruit, etc.. but my calories were reasonable/maintenance level. I think with a day of keto this number will drop back down as I let go of some of the water I'm retaining due to the carbs. We will see
07/16- 223.8 Yay, back on track!
07/17-
07/18- Leaving for a 4 day camping trip - will have to batch cook some Keto things to bring.
07/19- No weigh in
07/20- No weigh in
07/21- No Weigh in (but I will weigh in on the 22nd to end this round)
This is a particularly challenging 10 days - my goal should probably have been maintenance.12
