@cyndy-- welcome back! The scuba pic looks great! Scuba is one activity I've always wanted to try, but so far I haven't done so. When my husband and I went to Curacao in 2008, Scuba was part of our resort package, but my husband's blood pressure was too high, and though he told me to go ahead and do it without him, I really wasn't interested in going it alone.

AFM--I'm in a similar boat as cyndy. I've been maintaining in the mid 190s with some slips up over the 200 mark which always motivates me to get back to about 194 or 195. Then I get complacent and stop putting in the effort. In reality, I need to lose another 20 to 30 lbs to really be at my healthiest.

I've made a lot of progress on the landscaping projects, but it's been tough due to weather. Last week I was dodging raindrops and battling the heat. Plus, some holiday plans cut into my work time as well. Tuesday night, some friends and I went to see Billy Idol. My college roommate has loved him since HS, so she and I go whenever he's playing in Chicagoland.

I haven't been to the gym at all since I got back from vacation, and part of me feels guilty. On the other hand, I'd prefer to get my exercise by being productive in and around the house. Even so, I should probably schedule at least one or two visits a week, so I don't lose my rowing machine progress.

Hey everyone, I have a question. Anyone here have their doctor increase their dosage of Metformin and how did you feel? I’m trying to figure out if my fatigue is from my meds change or just stress.

Hi everyone, I'm Jenn. So happy to find this thread! I've gained almost 100 pounds in the past 20 years, and it's time to set it free. I'm a former competitive swing dancer, actress, and singer (all hobbies -- I'm corporate by day), and I'm looking forward to getting back into shape so I can get back to those things I love.

    My stats:
    Age - 48
Height: 4'11" (5'0 on a good day LOL)
    Highest weight: 225
    Current weight: 218
Goal weight: between 105 and 120, I'll see how I feel when I get down there

Karen and Cyndi - love your vacation photos! Iceland and Hawaii are both on my bucket list.

@MidModJenn -- welcome to the thread!! Thanks!! Iceland has been on my list for about 10 years, and I finally made it there. Hoping to make it to Hawaii someday as well.

@danceandplay -- Sorry I can't be of any help with that question.

@tom-- I would also call that a win!

AFM-- So I never made it to the gym this week. It's just so hard to go when I can be getting the yard chores done as my exercise. I'll put it on the schedule again this week and see what happens. Nothing too exciting happening here. It's been hella hot these past few days, but I've still managed at least a couple of hours of yard work each day plus a short walk with Gunner (my dog). He got into a nest of bunnies in our yard, so I had to move them. Now I'm obsessively checking on them morning and evening. And Gunner is obsessively trying to get to them through the fence.

Welcome to the newbies and greetings to the regular posters... Hi to the lurkers! We know your are out there and it's okay. No pressure ever. I am a lurker as well!

I'm just checking in with the same ol' song... Plateauville! I am so tired of it but trying to push through. I have done some hard thinking and I was most successful last year when i was mostly concerned with nutrition as opposed to working out. Granted, they go hand in hand, but I had a bad foot last year so all I really focused on was what went in my mouth!!! So I am still going to try and stay active, but really really really focus and log my food. I am going to try and keep my carbs down below 100 per day and eliminate gluten again. Seems like when I work out, I tend to "award" myself with something that I probably should not have. That's the current plan. Let's see if I can push through. Wish me luck!

    @rosie5456 --welcome to the thread!

@cyndy-- I may join you in trying to keep carbs down, but I eat a lot of fruit in the summer, so my focus will be on lowering the amount of processed sugars I eat. I find I am most successful with my nutrition when I focus on trying to raise my protein intake to 100+ grams/day. I'm sure a lot of it is psychological--it feels less like deprivation when I'm trying to add, but adding protein while staying within my calorie allowance forces me to lower carbs and/or fats. :)

@tom-- yes, it was an amazing trip! I highly recommend Iceland for those who like outdoorsy vacations.

AFM--I've been getting in a lot of active minutes in my yard and house, versus formal exercise, but it seems to be working because the scale is going in the right direction. As I mentioned above to cyndy, I am also going to focus more on adding protein over this final month of summer break as I strive to move into the 180s before I return to school mid August.

My exercise schedule was doing nothing for my progress, so I deleted it and will add the protein tracking instead.

Today it will be 100 degrees here in Chicago, so it sounds like the perfect day to finally get back to my air-conditioned gym. LOL

Ok so not sure How this works, I will give it a shot though, just bear with me as I learn how to navigate this forum.. I am here trying yet again to get to my goal weight.. I had some success starting May 2018 I lost 50 pounds by January 2019 however I was at a stand still , still following my plan but going No where, then at the end of March of this year I basically just gave up since then I have gained 14 back. I am super frustrated and almost resigned to being this size.. I never had any support of this type and figured what do I have to lose!! Lol beside the weight. Right.

@skinnyjeanzbound - that sounds like a great plan and so glad the scale is moving the right direction! I love fruits, too... especially when it's hot. I will go along with you in cutting out processed sugars.

My current short term plan is to log my weight on MONDAY... that way I will try and stay on program and focused through the weekend.... accountability is such a great tool!

    Have a wonderful weekend, Everyone!!

@missbehave_1 -- Welcome!! If you don't already know to do so, make sure to click on the little star right above the page numbers of the thread (top right). That will add it to your favorites, making it easier for you to come back to the conversation.

@cyndy-- I can eat an entire watermelon in just a few days! LOL!

AFM-- Just checking in to record my protein for the day. Didn't quite meet my goal, but I came pretty close. Also, I finally went to the gym today after lying on the couch all morning watching Tour de France. With the extreme heat, I knew there was no hope for any outdoor activity, and my fitbit said I only had 800 steps at 1 pm :worried: , so I figured a trip to my A/C gym was the solution. I did finally take my dog for a very short walk around 8 pm, but it was still stiflingly hot outside.

@gjet3168 -- Great to have you here! I do much better when I check in frequently, so I'm also trying to post every couple of days minimum.

AFM-- Well, I had 2 family events this weekend to celebrate birthdays. Yesterday we went to my husband's sister's and I was way over my calorie allowance. I had a couple of beers--a rare occurrence for me. I don't like to drink my calories, so when I do indulge, I try to stick to lower calorie drinks like vodka soda or rum and diet coke. I knew there would be birthday cake, so I should have done a better job limiting my carbs earlier in the day. Today was quite a bit better. I still had some cake at my niece's birthday party, but I was much closer to my calorie goal and my protein goal.

    Happy Monday!

Welcome @rosie5456! Good job on the loss. I am also at 1200 calories a day. Sometimes I go under and sometimes over... for instance.............THIS WEEKEND, ARGH!

Confession time in California. So I am housesitting at a friends house. In MY house I have eliminated all the foods that tempt me. This house I'm sitting has a fully stocked kitchen with all the things I have a problem with. It was a constant battle and alas, I succumbed yesterday. I managed to stay away from all the delicious wine (thanks to my desire to keep my streak going) but the things that got me were Mac and Cheese and Ice Cream. Saturday actually looks like I did a good job now that i've logged it all... it was just hard. Now yesterday (Sunday) different story. Starting out good - breakfast burritos and I did not eat the tortilla wrapping... lunch sushi (rice was the killer there)... but dinner, oh dinner... The Mac & Cheese and the Ice Cream. Granted I walked a ton yesterday and had earned many calories, but it was almost a 2000 calorie day! 89g sugar and 210g carbs! I try and keep the carbs below 100.

The weird thing was, the scale at the house I'm sitting said 187 this morning. I went home to check on Kitten and my scale said 181.3. I stepped on it numerous times. I can't trust it. It's a trick... a good trick. So I'll see what my home scale says tomorrow. Don't get me wrong... I would be THRILLED if my scale was correct... but we've all been on that rollercoaster and I just can't trust it... especially after all the wrong food I consumed.

We shall see. Here's to a strong week... gonna drink water today like a fish!

@cyndy-- I've had that scale trick happen as well, and for me it usually means I need to replace the batteries. I feel your pain--I can't keep certain foods in the house. For example, the doritos I gave into last night. I also LOVE mac n cheese, so if I'm going to indulge, I buy the little kraft single serve microwaveables. That way, I don't have to make a whole box (which I will then eat in one sitting) to satisfy the craving.

AFM-- Weather here in Chicago was just perfect today!! I wish it could be like this every day. I took advantage and did a bit more of my landscaping project. Tonight, I'm working on an indoor project of rehabbing an old MCM stereo console a friend gave me when her father passed away. She's coming to visit on Friday, and I would like to have it done by then. :)

I was so close on the protein today. :)
