I've been working on this for a couple of months, but usually backslide. Guess I'll give this a try. I'd like to become a casual drinker and when I do just have 1 or 2 drinks, not a binge like I normally do.6

It is exercise on day for me so I will do some hill repeats for 90 minutes or.
I have habitually had alcohol after exercise.
Something about damping down my muscles and easing my joints.
But if I exercise to lose or maintain weight, then drink all of that exercise, am I not just wasting my cartilage on alcohol.
My joints hurt terribly after I drink😵2 -
Back on track, drink wise. 4 AF days in a row, which is my weekday goal. I notice my craving for it goes way down if I am AF a few days, and goes up if I’m having a drink every night. Hmmm...
Now, if I can just lose the water weight from the most delicious pastrami Reuben I had for lunch the other day. Im holding onto the salt like grim death, but it was so worth it!
I 100% agree. It was somewhere on this thread possibly back in November where I saw the warning about never having drinks 2 days in a row. I have broken that a few times and inevitably have drinks on the 3rd day too, and then the 4th day is extremely difficult.
I see that in the past you got to the point where you didn't even like the taste anymore. That hasn't happened to me. I like the taste and also the effect.
Oh yes, anything in a restaurant is so salty. I try not to eat out much. Once I had a tossed salad with grilled chicken at a restaurant and was up 2 pounds the next day! I don't know what they do to the food exactly, but I suspect salt. I lose weight so dang slowly that getting off 2 pounds even if it is just water can take me a month.
But...Pastrami Rueben sounds so yummy.5 -
Here we go!
8/1 - AF
8/2 - 3 drinks
I worked out HARD yesterday and even though I drank I came in under my calorie goal from working out. Same with today so far. So since i ended up drinking friday and Saturday i guess I will not have anything heavy tomorrow. We are grilling out tomorrow so I might have ONE truly hard sparkling water but that is it! So far not off to a 100% start. I seem to do better 4 AF days rather than 5 of the week 🤔4 -
8/1 AF
8/2 AF
8/3 Many adult beverages consumed - impromptu family gathering at my house5 -
I am going to strive for the same as usual, 4-5 AF days per week. I will post daily to keep me accountable.
I was pleased with my 20 AF days for July.
August 01 - AF - I didn't want to be, but have to start the month off right. Many things planned for the weekend and there will be drinks involved. I will have to be strategic so that I don't have drinks 2 days in a row.
August 02 - AF - Again, didn't want to be. It is a long weekend with lots going on here in British Columbia. I want to not look terrible tomorrow, so no booze for me tonight.
August 03 - 3 drinks.
2AF days out of 3 days so far.3 -
1710 calories consumed in alcoholic drinks ~ that's horrible. I would have been under my calorie goal without them...eating is definitely not my weight loss problem

I quit completely 4.5 years ago after being a heavy drinker since university. I am 58 now. I tried a whole bunch of things - counselling, AA, books, a priest. What I finally realized was that it was all up to me. The other stuff was just noise. I don’t see it as a willpower thing. More of a mindset. I picked a day (my daughter’s 18th birthday) and said that is it. I have not had a drop since14

So far my AF weekend continues but it's been a battle between the little devil and the angel in my head. I caught myself almost putting a bottle of wine in my shopping cart today. Thank goodness the little angel put that devil back in his place.....just earned my ice cream reward for tonight7

It's really smart of you to track "drink" calories, a good idea. I think I will too! It could be more motivational to see the calorie count.3 -

Very powerful recognition.
This is a quote I printed out and it is directly in front of where I sit at my desk.
Thank you for reminding me who caused my problem, and the only one who could fix it completely.
Congrats on your journey.

8/1 - AF

8/3 - Planned drinks at the Ren Faire...had...many...maybe 5 or 6
8/4 - AF
Really proud of myself for getting back to AF on a Sunday night. The job situation is painful right now and suffer from some pretty bad Sunday blues/scaries. I really took note of how much the drinks on Saturday affected my sleep, which was so much more apparent after being bookended by AF days. I also really wanted a drink last night while cooking yesterday, and was able to push past it. Hoping to end up AF the rest of this week as well, and just limit my intake to when the in-laws visit on Saturday.
Thank you everyone for posting your challenges and successes5 -
I also suffer from Sunday Blues, but I can see now that drinking exacerbated that tremendously and sometimes caused work to be even worse than a usual Monday. Awesome job not giving into that downward spiral!jmciotti13 wrote: »8/1 - AF

Thanks for that! It really helped to start my Monday right! You're right, we want it....we can do it! And with the support of each other and this group we will succeed! 😁🤩4 -
Whew...long long Sunday, with Church and shopping with middle daughter. She & hubby are both gluten free by necessity so we visit many shops for organic, etc...then top it off by a stop for my non-organic fruit and veggies. Replaced my sushi and wine with a salt loaded boxed dinner because I was so tired and hungry. Bad idea. Had a NA beer with. Good idea.
NO way am I looking at the scale this morning, instead going back on MFP diet site to log in daily.
And not going back to having to log in my wine calories.
Day 5, and looking forward.6
