Ughh guys I'm fighting the urge tonight. I am so stressed and all I want to do is honestly have a drink to unwind. This is when I have to push and not cave! I hate using it as a crutch.6

8/1AF
8/2 3 drinks empty stomach nobody else drank more than 1
8/3 3 drinks
8/4 3 drinks nobody else drinking ugh. I snuck the last one when nobody was looking.
8/5 Af
8/6 AF and going to bed. Super stressed at work today and REALLY wanted one. Almost did but had to spend about 20 minutes looking for our cat and by the time we found her the craving passed. Years ago a friend told me that staying sober was all about distraction and keeping busy.

Tonight I have poured myself a drink. Stop at one. But I was super tensed with personal stuff. I needed to relax. I know it's not the best remedy but now I have noted it. Mid week. I try going without at the weekend to make up .
Well done all. If we keep our mind our goal we will get there6 -

One is awesome. Notice there is not a zero after it to make it ten 😉. Your doing fantastic @Alzzi6 -
8/1- AF
8/2 - 😣 Wine with mom
8/3 - 😣 4-5 drinks but planned pool time with friends with the intent of making them weak - proud that I cut down and had watered down beverages using my big yetti cup of mostly diet tonic mixed w/1 shot of vodka
8/4 - 😣 3 - same as above.
8/5 AF -enjoyed some diet ginger ale in my wine glass.
8/6 AF5 -
I'm in!
My heartburn medication is done and I had my first drink since March 2019 - if you can call it 1 drink.
I ordered vodka with sprite. I did not like how it was making the left side of my chest feel, not to mention the anxiousness of "Is this drink going to give me heartburn? Because it has in the past." I could not enjoy the drink due to my emotions and chest discomfort. So, I had a few more sips and called it. By the time my husband's birthday dinner was done, you could say I drank a quarter of the drink. It appeared to be an 10 oz drink, one of those short glasses.
I have not had a drink since Aug 2nd and I may attempt to drink moscato at the end of August for my grandma's 90th birthday. I had a sip at my husband's dinner and it tasted sweet - just to my liking.6 -

It is exercise on day for me so I will do some hill repeats for 90 minutes or.
I have habitually had alcohol after exercise.
Something about damping down my muscles and easing my joints.
But if I exercise to lose or maintain weight, then drink all of that exercise, am I not just wasting my cartilage on alcohol.
Good for you.1 -
I am going to strive for the same as usual, 4-5 AF days per week. I will post daily to keep me accountable.
I was pleased with my 20 AF days for July.
August 01 - AF - I didn't want to be, but have to start the month off right. Many things planned for the weekend and there will be drinks involved. I will have to be strategic so that I don't have drinks 2 days in a row.
August 02 - AF - Again, didn't want to be. It is a long weekend with lots going on here in British Columbia. I want to not look terrible tomorrow, so no booze for me tonight.
August 03 - 3 drinks.
August 04 - AF
August 05 - AF - Going away Wednesday or Thursday for 5 or 6 days to a riverfront bluesfest in Montana, where the drinks are so much cheaper than Canada and I will have no responsibilities. I may have drinks, but will try to not have them 2 days in a row. Planning AF for tomorrow.
August 06 - 2 1/2 drinks. Kind of different that I couldn't finish my 3rd drink, I put it in the freezer. Tuesdays are the days that I sort of have scheduled to have a few drinks if I want them. Not sure what I was thinking when I said that I planned AF for a Tuesday. All good.
4AF days out of 6 days so far.2 -
Way to go with planned (even though you forgot you planned) drinks. You cracked me up with the partial drink in the freezer. I probably would have done the same thing. Hope the Bluesfest is a great time!dawnbgethealthy wrote: »I am going to strive for the same as usual, 4-5 AF days per week. I will post daily to keep me accountable.

Thanks @mainelylisa : - )
I didn't really think of the humour in putting a half drink in the freezer, but I am laughing now. Not the first time. Had I drank the other half I would have been drunk. I worked a very long day with barely any food so it was hitting me and I couldn't drink the rest. It will be consumed another day : - P
One of my favourite lakes is just across the border in North Idaho, I will be hitting a few wonderful lakes on the way down tomorrow. I love North Idaho and Montana, 40 minutes to the Canada/US border from where I live.
I will still be tracking on MFP most days if I get wifi.
I so need this little hot summer holiday.2 -

Doing well with my plan to be AF during the work week, despite awful job situation. I realized yesterday I am really depressed. Long story short, husband and I moved across the country two years ago, and I still work remotely for my same company. Since then, corporate axed everyone at my old office and I'm just floating out here with no real colleagues. I don't get to meet people in my new state (hard to meet people outside of work, especially since I work at my house). I've decided to rough it out until October, and then I need to quit. October because I get my bonus, and I busted my *kitten* last year to meet goals. I know I need to go back to therapy, I'm struggling to find some direction right now, and have a feeling I've been relying a little too much on alcohol to bridge that gap. I also weighed myself yesterday for the first time in a couple months and had to face the fact that I'm just 4 pounds off from my all-time high weight. Something I said I would never let happen again. But. Two years later, it happened. Again. So. Really struggling right now, but am going to try and find a therapist to work through some of these issues with. I appreciate all the posts, knowing I'm not alone.10 -
I am starting later here but better late then never I suppose. Wine is my crutch I drink one to two glasses a day and am only AF once or twice a week. I would like to take that to 3-4 AF days a week and eventually AF all week days and only have one or two on the weekends. I have a stressful job and am self medicating. I would rather self medicate with exercise and actually feel better. Does anyone have a tip for the cravings? I used to smoke- for 15 years I smoked a pack a day. I quit 13 years ago cold turkey and it was oddly easy because I had actually convinced myself that it just had to happen, so it did. I’m trying to get to the same place with Wine but I love wine so it is more difficult.
8/7 - 1 glass of wine had it yesterday need a detox
8/8 - AF (goal)

Thankyou so much for this! It made my day. ♡1 -
Tonight , weekend... I had a taste of my sons cider. Was tempted to buy one for myself but I remembered I've had my drink for the week so I happily watch him drink it without me. I had a cuppucino instead.

Even though today is a Friday I plan on going AF. I'll plan my day to have drinks for tomorrow. I'm also going to try super hard to not let this weekend be a total cheat weekend like I normally, unintentionally do.
@Alzzi_2 thank you for the kind and helpful words! I notice the days I do drink a lot of water actually really do help! Its fighting those bad days I have to work on 🤔2 -
We went out to dinner last night. I wanted wine, but asked if they had Kombucha. The waiter looked a little confused and said he'd check. He came back and said they didn't--that we must really like that licorice taste. I'm thinking...I HATE licorice and why would they make that flavor of Kombucha. Then realized he confused it with Sambuca. Yuck. Probably the ONLY alcohol I wouldn't touch.
BTW, I would have had one glass of wine last night, and probably before that, if my BF weren't so opposed due to fear that it would get out of hand eventually--so extending the break for now. This morning, waking up refreshed at 5:30 to work on my consulting biz plan (I need out of my job too, @Kayatpb13 ) made me thankful for the club soda. Happy weekend, everyone! Be amazing and treat yourself kindly.5 -
Just found this page and I'm in need of this. I feel awful today and ashamed! A drink a day sometimes more than 3!!!!! It's gotten out if hand, a boredom, emotional crutch.
Looking at this positive group as a way to be open and start a fresh.
So each week I'll do a AF or number for each date.
That's the idea yes?6 -

Wine is my go to adult beverage - I'm not doing too good at this. I know I will have wine on Thursday's because my mom usually gets my puppy for a play date with her puppy and we have a glass or two when she brings him back home after I get off work. I'm going to strive for Sunday through Thursday AF and less when I do have it.

Brush Lake is officially BEAUTIFUL.
Day nine, no wine.
Re-reading my collection of late 1800's E.D.E.N. Southworth novels...back then if a lady drank more than a sip of elderberry wine [to cure "the vapors"], she was ostracized. But sloshing down large quantities of Lydia Pinkham's 18% alcohol tonic was quite fine....
Sun's out, time to cruise my hills on the riding mower, Diet Dew in the beer holder.5 -
@dawnbgethealthy Yes, it is gorgeous! Hope you continue to have beautiful weather and enjoy!!!2

I logged everything yesterday... the good, the bad, the ugly. In 5 weeks I will be 3 pounds heavier then I am today.
Gotta get back on track with less alcohol.
Today I'm going to make my goal an AF day6 -
Spontaneous weekend trip to a state park staying at the lodge. And so far for the month I’m 4 out of 9 days AF. That includes last night when we arrived at the lodge, I normally would have had a glass of wine sitting on the balcony but I knew we were getting up early for a 3 mile hike . So I had quiet coffee on the balcony while everyone else slept in. Today we are heading to fish and swim - will not be AF!1
