Virtual race, we're encouraged to do it in a park or something similar.
Everything's in Polish though, and I'm not sure they'll ship medals to other countries.

Ok, ok, I'm in! I'm training for a half on Oct. 3rd so I think I should run around 80 miles this month. BUT...if something happens and I need to back off on my runs, I will. One thing I've learned is to listen when my body says slow down or take a break...before it breaks.
AHH!! I lost this thread! So when I decided to join the challenge, I KNEW I should have just gone with 60 miles but I didn't want to sell myself short. I had some unexpected physical issues the first week of September (I thinkI intuitively felt something coming, something always does, lol) but I'm back in the game. This is my first post after joining. My total miles so far are 38. But if I include my run/walks to and from work, and with my dog, it would up it quite a bit. I'm not going to count these ones though, so just pure running, is 38.
This thread looks so involved! I think I need to sign up for the October thread and bookmark it so I can follow from the beginning!11 -

I keep thinking I should go back with my camera, but that would take a special trip and planing. iPhone is easier for these random wanderings.
Love the pictures! The GAP trail starts there at the fountain on the Point, if you haven't already checked that out! When I biked it a few years ago, that section was a little confusing though as far as where the trail actually was (Or maybe I was just disoriented from cycling all day and now having less than a mile to go and not being able to follow directions.)
Yeah. It is part of the rails to trail project that connects Washington State with DC. The idea is you can bike/run the entire way on the one trail, but here in Pittsburgh, it is very confusing. Still figuring it out.
What?! A trail all the way from Washington State to DC?! How did I not know about this? That would be a fantastically long trail!
I wonder how much of it follows roads though. Almost all of the GAP [Great Allegheny Passage, which then connects to the C&O Towpath] is on a rail-trail and gets you Pittsburgh-D.C.
In Pittsburgh, if you can just get past the first mile or so, it gets more obvious where the trail is.
None. Check out the project. They are doing to avoid roads.

Happy Anniversary @marisap2010 !2 -
@polskagirl01 those are beautiful medals, what a great reward!
I made myself go and do my run for today after whinging earlier and loved it. Must remember this feeling the next time I'm feeling a bit knackered. Did a lovely 8.9k in the forest, in lovely temperatures of about 24 degrees. Lots of walkers with their dogs, the best distraction whilst you're running.

My glutes are so sore this morning from yesterday’s hill repeats! This is why I need to stick to the schedule and do it earlier in the week so it doesn’t interfere with my longer runs...
*grumbles* Let me go hobble my 5 miles now.8 -

Run at least 4 5k races.
Get under 30:00 and a PR for 5k.
Average at least 135k per month, which would put me over 1,000 miles for the year.
Run the Year Team: Five for Nineteen
Cool again this morning, but did my typically undisciplined run. Slow turned into easy, which turned into moderate, which turned into tempo, so the whole run ended up at a moderate pace.

I traveled home yesterday. The rest day felt good, but this morning's long run still was pretty rough. My legs are tired and I definitely need new shoes. Fortunately, I had a few friends join up for parts of the run, because I don't know that I would have stuck it out alone. As it was, I had hoped to get closer to 14 miles but didn't have it in me to finish up another couple of miles. Plus, I wanted to take a friend up on her offer to borrow some hiking gear for next weekend, so I went with her to get that right after we stopped. I'm excited to do a little hiking in the Adirondacks next weekend.
Regardless, I'm at 57% of my goal for the month and we are halfway through, so I'm feeling okay about training. Two more weeks of higher mileage and then I'll start a gradual taper.

Went to Austin this weekend for a friend's birthday weekend and the first rock climbing competition of the bouldering season for my daughter. This was her first comp at the new age bracket so we weren't sure what to expect, but she did well and put in a good effort. Good way to start the season.
The air is so much drier here. And I woke up Sunday morning to a temp of 69F! I haven't run in temps like that in months!! So I got out quickly for my easy 3 miles. There is a nice crushed granite trail near my friends house, so I ran that. Got to take advantage of easy trail access when I can get it

@MNLittleFinn Did you sign up for the 200 miles or another 100 miles? I can't even imagine either one. Especially, right after completing 100 miles. You don't have to worry about me being you anytime soon. LOL Good luck. Look forward to hearing about it.
@rheddmobile Great race results! Glad you got to meet a fellow MFP runner.
@T1DCarnivoreRunner Your costume idea sounds like a really fun one! Good luck next weekend at the AF Marathon.
@hamsterwheel6 Congratulations on completing your first half marathon! Awesome!
@polskagirl01 That looks like a great series of races. They probably don't ship. I guess I didn't realize you were in Poland.
@PastorVincent Love all of your photos!

@quilteryoyo I signed up for Bigfoot 200. I ran a 100 last year (in a blizzard) and another 100 this year. Between October of 17 and now, I've fun something like 9 ultras, from 50k to 100 miles. I can't go fast, so I go ridiculously long.10

Ran an easy 5 miles today after I got in from an early work trip this morning. I didn't sleep much last night because I was stubborn and kept reading my book.
Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their weekend!9 -

That looks like fun! I will have to try that if I can stick to my anti-t-rex plan for at least a season. Right now I could not pull myself up by my arms so I would fall to my death from like 2 feet up.

So, no run today. I know we are all worldly wise runners here, but if you here a clunking coming from the front of of your vehicle, you might not want to delay having it checked... it could lead to something like this happening at highway speeds:
That thing hanging loose there? It is how you steer the car. Without it, the tire just wabbles along however it pleases. 🤷♂️
So yeah. This is not my month for running. BUT! BUT! I do have a peferect 3/3 for showing up to strength training so that is good.17 -

Plan was to go for a long run today. I barely got started when I pulled a muscle in my calf. I thought I could walk it off, but turned back shortly after because that wasn't happening. Ugh, hope this doesn't ruin my next marathon.

6.1 miles today. My Fitbit won't sync. I thought I might have pooped myself, but it turned out to have just been gas. (I mean, I could tell there was definitely gas, but I wasn't certain that there wasn't poop, too, until I checked...) Um. Have some TMI, internet friends. I want to say that not finding any poop in my underpants makes it a good run, but I am withholding judgement until I have my Fitbit data, too. It certainly could have been worse!

Love reading everyone’s race reports, they are always inspiring! I’ve done a races before , but never reports, so this is cool.
We left Friday afternoon to head to Jacksonville, NC. It’s about 2 and a half hours from us. Headed straight to packet pick up, where they were offering free taping , so I took them up on taping my right shin as it was feeling like a shin splint was coming on. Probably from me over compensating after my calf injury on the other leg. Sigh.
Checked in to hotel, ate, got stuff ready and went to bed for 4:45 am wake up.
Next morning got to the base, parked with about 45 min before race start at 7:00am. Atmosphere was awesome! It was a 72F but very humid even at that time.
There were no Time corals in the event so everyone just packed in at the start. Gun went off and away we went.
Now, I wanted to take it slow to start because I usually start too fast and the last 3 or 4 miles do me in. This was “supposed” to be a flat, fast course but I beg to differ lol. Quite a few inclines, not steep, but some felt really long.
Miles 1-8 felt pretty good by then I knew if I kept this pace (10:30-10:50) I could for sure get under 2:30. Started slowing down a bit on 9; picked back up on 10, then mile 11 was just ugh. Had to walk for a a couple minutes and fill up on water. Told myself the end is so close! So got moving again felt better picked up the pace again , only to slow down at another incline almost to the end..tried to finish strong and sprinted to the finish, and was met by marines handing out the medals which made it all worth it!
Chip time was 2:25.17. 7th out of 25 in my age group. Happy with that and now I know what to aim for next time!
All in all a great time and would so run it again next year!
Those last 2-3 miles did me in again, so I need to work on pacing better I guess. I feel fine until then. Any suggestions? I was fueling throughout with gels, water, Gatorade.. guess I need to start much slower still...?
Been sitting here trying to find the next race to sign up for. There is another half here that starts 10 min form my house in 2 weeks with a big hill at the end, but then most is on the greenway on sections that I normally run, so I know it well. Is that too soon?
There is a 10 miler at the end of October. And many 5 and 10k in between. Decisions.

Oh no! That happened to me a few weeks ago and I seriously thought I wouldn’t be able to do my half yesterday. I still have the bruise on my calf from the tear. I feel your frustration. Hopefully it’s not too bad!3
