I had a really great run this morning. I ran 6.55 miles. I wanted to keep on running, but I had to come home and get ready for work. I love runs like that. It was still hot and humid at 71°F, Feels like 71°F, Humidity 77%, Dew point 63°F, but somehow it didn't seem too bad. It is getting light later and later, but there was still a nice moon and so it was pretty bright outside even before the sun came up. I really got into the zone and just felt like I could run forever.
@mbaker566 I'm glad you and Speed Demon are healing and you got a chill new foster. I hope that they are able to get the other dog trained.
@shanaber Wow! 25 Half Marathons! That is really impressive!
@hamsterwheel Great race report! Congrats to you and to your husband on your races!
@zeesparrow I hope your foot heals up soon!
@rheddmobile Great race report! Congratulations to you and your husband on your AG wins!

@teresa502 occasionally the HR monitor on most Garmin watches locks onto your cadence number instead of your actual heart rate. So an easy run for me should be about 115 bpm, but the Garmin bug showed my average HR at 172 (which was my average cadence for the run).
@hamsterwheel6 @katharmonic @teresa502 count me as a true Brooks Ghost fan! I have run in those for several years. Have tried other (Glycerins, Adrenaline, Launch), but always come back to Ghost.
I see. I only have the Forerunner 220 with basic functions. It doesn't have a HR monitor. It would be nice to have a more advanced version but I'm one of those people who don't replace things until they are completely useless! I'm just a casual runner so it serves my purpose well although my band is starting to show signs of breaking....
@Teresa502 the Forerunner 220 does have the HR function *if* you pair it with a Garmin HR strap. That model sold with the HR strap as an option. My FR 305 came with a strap and I used that same strap on my FR 220 and my FR 230. The strap finally quit working and I bought a replacement for $25.
Thanks @7lenny7! I had no clue!0 -

I could explain how to do it and probably make it confusing, but instead I'll point you to this video which does a really nice job

And here's the strap I bought. I must have caught it on sale because it's $40 now. Note that this is the old, no longer made strap. I was looking for the cheapest option and at $25, this was it. At $40 I'd have to look at the newer model.

Was supposed to run 4 miles this morning. For some reason had the worst insomnia last night and I have no idea when I finally fell asleep but I know it was in the wee hours of the morning. Then as soon as I did finally fall asleep, my husband kept stealing the blanket, waking me up each time. I wanted to smack the heck out of him (or at least give him a good kick) but I was simply...too tired to. I have come to realize that I do myself no favors if I run after a really poor night's sleep. My heart just feels over-strained so I'm taking an unplanned rest day. Does anyone else ever get that over taxed feeling in your heart if you run after not really sleeping the day before? I HATE not running but I did kind of skip my rest day this week...
Ug, I have not have that over-taxed feeling, but I have had to deal with insomnia and a disruptive sleep partner - in my case, snoring. I've started moving to our guest bedroom when I know that I really need not to be woken up, or asking my husband to sleep there if he's up much later than me so he doesn't wake me up when he comes to bed. It's been a game-changer and I highly recommend if you have the space.2 -
Congratulations to you and your husband on a great race @rheddmobile !1

PS. Mu husband did the 5 miler at the HM I just did - He hasn't run in years, but decided to do because of the cause and walked/ran it and came in 3rd for his age group. We won't mention that there were only 4 in his age group and the first was an elite so - he didn't count. Sshh.
I'm just thrilled he did it and finished. Made him feel pretty good too.
Hey, he can't control how many people in his age group show up to race.3 -

After work run with a friend for the first ~2.5 miles and finished alone. It was great to catch up with her, and both of us thought we had to bail with our busy schedules but we somehow found a time we could overlap for at least 30 minutes. I love running with this friend because she and I started together on day 1 of the walk to run program and have come a long way together. She isn't running as much right now but loves it when we have the chance and she is such a great encouragement to me (and we also do a lot of venting which is equally good). After I dropped her off at her house I finished the run alone and tried to kick up the pace a little. My legs started to complain about being sore from yesterday's squatting and lunging, so I decided to wrap it up and get home to walk the poor neglected dog.

Thanks @7lenny7! I actually have a strap and heart rate watch but I haven't used it in several years. It's a Polar brand.

3.75 miles on Monday and 3 yesterday. I was going to take the rest day late, but I may skip it entirely, as I don't feel I should need a rest after such short runs. OTOH, I'm not feeling great about the runs, either, and maybe it's because I need the rest day... I dunno.

Wow. That’s all I have.2 -
My current definition of a long run starts at about 10 miles, and since I did 13 last week and it felt a little too long, I did this week as a "cut-back" and stuck with 10 today. The weather has changed and it was cold, raining and windy. But as yucky as that was, I really enjoyed the running part
September goal 100 miles

Sept. 20-22 - Botanical 5k [virtual race]
Oct. 19 - CityTrail trail 5k (#1 of 6 in the series)

Oct. 27 - Lublin Half Marathon10 -
@MNLittleFinn Amazing race report!0

I get awful yesterday afternoon. Even my boss commented that I didn’t look well. I skipped last night’s run in favor of laying on my sofa. I hope to make up the run tonight, since it is supposed to be a rest day.
I also need to pack for a trip to my in-laws and catch up on some work that I can’t manage to ever get done at work(I guess that is what happens when you do the work of two people because you are short staffed), so it should be a busy evening.9 -

Wow. That’s all I have.
Ditto. Can't imagine doing that run, let alone the upcoming 200 miler!
@marisap2010 Hope you are feeling better today!2 -
Threshold workout called for 1 mi WU, 2x2mi@8:20 with 2:00 recovery, 1 mi CD. The threshold portions came in at 7:48,7:35,7:41,7:37. Effort felt about 85-90%, so I need to work on easing up on those sections if I am going to sustain for very much longer. Can't seem to gauge my pace, even after all these years. It's either balls-out fast, or too slow.

@MNLittleFinn - amazing race report and incredible feat! When I try to imagine each section you talked about, I don't know how you could do one after the other, after the other. Just an extraordinary performance and accomplishment. Congratulations again.5

How to look glamorous. Run/hike 77 miles, then eat bacon and a chocolate gel, off of a paper plate...LOL

This is awesome! Thanks for the video. I just bought my husband a Garmin because he kept borrowing my tomtom messing up all my stats in Strava. My tomtom btw, NEVER records my hear rate anything close to accurate so now I'm going to google to see if my tomtom can also be connected to my chest strap. My husband will be happy to find out that his Garmin can be synced up to his strap.0 -

We don't have an extra room, but my husband was so worried about disturbing my sleep again that he slept in my son's room last night. After a good night's sleep, I had a pretty good run this morning. I'm glad I took the rest day.

I just checked my Strava and it only has me down for 35 miles this month. I know I was on 38 though. I think I had a treadmill run in there that I didn't record. This morning I got my 4 miler in that I missed yesterday....only I FORGOT MY DANG GPS WATCH! Well, at least I had my chest strap paired to my more basic watch so I was able to track my run somewhat. My run was pretty good! I wasn't super fast or anything (I'm generally a slower runner) but I had tons of energy afterwards. My short jog to work felt so easy after that that I never even broke a sweat!
So today's count: 42/80. Still behind for the month.7 -

Thanks @shanaber! I had bootcamp after work yesterday and didn't have time to investigate last night. Mine is pretty old so I'm guessing it's not bluetooth capable.0 -
