Basically this. I made a huge error in judgement with the first marriage so I don't completely trust myself not to screw up again.1 -

As I look back on the long term relationships I've had, I thank my lucky stars I didn't do something so foolish like marrying them! (hey, they probably feel same way, so it's a win win)2
