THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

69 years old female...5'5" ...I used to be 5'7" but arthritis hit and I lost two inches, so now that two inches is squished around my waist like the billows of a big accordion... ...Oh, well. I'll just keep working on it.

09/20 268.9 Portion control, good choices, no reason why I can't reach my goal
09/21 268.7 Movie popcorn, mexican food, not stuffed just satisfied. Heavy eating really doesn't agree with me the older I get so I'm doing better at calling it good before it get out of hand.
09/22 268.8 feel good about my eating this weekend plus I racked up 26,000 steps which definately helps.
09/23 268.3 staying pretty even so far, thats ok , better than gaining 2 losing 2 over and over.

09/25 266.7 well I did basically a fast today although i had about 300 cals over about 20 hrs, was a real good cleanse I drink a lot of water, but now im down 10 on the year, for the moment haha, must stay focused. I will happy with a good solid 266 at the end of this round. very exciting oh yes, im also getting my 8000 steps, lifting weights and doing some spinning as well gotta keep moving folks, ONWARD HO!

09/20 – 185.8 – Little drop to start, despite the Chinese food I had last night. But here we are at the beginning of another weekend. How many calories in a poké bowl?
09/21 – 184.6 – Happy to see a drop, but I slept in this morning, so that may account for some off it. Apple festival with the grandkids this afternoon. Drinks and dinner with friends this evening. A bit over on calories but got in a 45 minute walk at the park.
09/22 – 184.6 – Holding steady. Gorgeous weather for the last day of summer! Dinner guests this evening, but logging and maintaining a deficit is easier when I can control the menu and portion sizes.
09/23 – 183.4 – Nice drop and, surprisingly, a new low. My younger son and his fiancé stopped by for a couple of days on their way home from a business trip, so we wound up doing a big family dinner and sitting around the fire pit until late last night. Restaurant lunch and take-out dinner today, so I expect a sodium bounce tomorrow. A busy day at work and I wanted to spend more time with family, so I didn’t cook, log, or walk. But I’ll be back on track tomorrow!
09/24 – 184.0 – There’s the bounce, but it’s not too bad. Exhausting day – 14 hours of teaching, meetings, and workshops - but I managed to stay under my calorie limit and log my food. No walk but I got in almost 9,000 steps. Next up: sleep!
09/25 – 184.0 – Slightly less busy day. Woke up feeling sluggish but determined to meet my goals today. I walked for an hour in the park next to campus and still made it to my afternoon workshop - with 3 minutes to spare. Met my calorie and logging goals. Even got a bit of the neverending grading done!
09/26 – 183.0 – Good to see the last bounce gone. Student conferences all day, but I’m done with classes for another week. Dinner out with my husband, followed by a 35-minute walk around town. Still feeling too full, although I managed to come in under my calorie limit. We’ll see what the scale says tomorrow.

9/21 - 153.5 - felt like poop yesterday, ate like poop yesterday, slept 13 hours. Not sure where this came from, but we’ll take it. Taking it easy on my belly today. We’re sharing some kind of bug at work, apparently.
9/22 - 154.5 - ate one meal yesterday, subsequently felt like I was going to vomit all night. We’ll see how today goes. Ham & eggs cooked by my Honey this morning. 🥰
9/23 - 154.5 - breakfast was not so easy on my belly yesterday. Even drinking makes my tummy roll. I finally broke down & ate some oatmeal last night and it didn’t make me sick, so YAY! I need things to work their way out today. I have life to live.

09/23 396.6 (-1.0) – I have just not had a good year. I must finish the year strong! I have an appointment Oct 10th with a weight lost specialist for WLS patients. I have an appointment on Oct 3rd with a knee specialist. I need to see a sleep specialist also because I know I have sleep apnea and it is rearing its ugly head again. My therapist came back from maternity leave and we had a good session last Tuesday and I have been doing better ever since. Still doing WW. Was up 10.8 pounds with them and decided to just start the ticker over with them. My PCP prescribe something for me that is stomach and liver friendly that seems to be helping my knees. I hope you all are still rocking things. It is end of month which starts getting hectic for me tomorrow, but I am determined not to drop the ball on ME. I know I may not make goal weight of 389 but at this point I will be happy with losing 4 pounds
09/24 393.8 (-2.8) - At month ends, I will not have much time to chit chat but I am very happy about today’s loss. I did several things right yesterday. We will see on Saturday when I weigh in at WW. One thing I want to share is I have been getting in the bed before midnight 3 nights in a row. This is compared to 1 and 2 o’clock in the morning. I must say I can certainly feel the difference. My goal is to keep this up even on Friday and Saturdays unless I have an event and I am out until midnight.

My journey … ("I May Not Be Where I Want To Be, but I’m Not Where I Use To Be!")
In 2003 Weighed over 600 lbsMy highest weight was 611 in 2003. Weight in 2004 before weight loss surgery was 580. Lowest weight after surgery was 302 in 2007. "I May Not Be Where I Want To Be, but I’m Not Where I Use To Be!"

I joined MFP on March 27, 2010 weighing in at 388 pounds. I was re-gaining weight and stumbled up on it while trying to get back on track. I was determined never to see 400+ on that scale again for me.
I have been morbidly obese all my life. I have a lifetime of mental and physical scars from obesity. In October 2004 I had Gastric Bypass surgery. WLS (Weight Loss Surgery) was the best gift that I could and did give to myself.
Between 2008 and 2010 I gradually gained back 80 of almost 300 pounds lost initially after weight loss surgery. I never reached my goal weight of 200 pounds. I still managed to keep off over 65 percent of the weight I lost which is very good and I am very proud of my accomplishments since 2004. It has literally changed my life for the better on all levels. I am here to lose re-gained weight and to reach my initial goal weight. I am in no hurry. I am taking this one day at a time and I am in it for the long haul.
Surgery did not fix the head. It is a good tool and the best gift I have given to myself, but it was not the easy way out as many people think. Once the honeymoon period is over after the WLS it is up to the patient to keep the weight off.
On August 29, 2011-- I was admitted to Intensive Out Patient Eating Disorder Program to learn how to manage my binge eating disorder effectively. The program is wonderful indeed and will be instrumental in me reaching all of my goals. The focus of this program was how to eat and not diet. Weight loss was not a goal of the program. I actually gained 20 pounds in program. But I had to get thru a lot of stuff and my the time I was released I had stopped gaining. I was discharged from program on December 3, 2011.
My tool is still working for me today. My head is still the issue. SO the struggle continues. I will never beat myself up again. I fight the fine fight faithfully and positively everyday. Because that is what will get me to my goals one day. Even though it may not show up on the scale every day -- Everyday I make progress one way or another just by showing up, waking up and trying.

First round for me! 34 year old female, lots of weight to lose but perhaps not as much motivation as I need. Hopeful this will help! Only participating for nine days - would love to lose half a stone (7lbs) but would also like the moon on a stick!

09/21 - 19st 6.8lbs - Did week 4 run 2 of couch to 5k today. Got my first heckles from a stranger. Ignored them. 💪
09/22 - 19st 6.3lbs (-0.5lb)
09/23 - 19st 4lbs (-2.3lb) Did week 4 run 3 of couch to 5k today, and somehow racked up over 23,000 steps on my pedometer. Certainly am moving more these days!
09/24 - 19st 2.8lbs (-1.2lb) Tough day of toddler groups and biscuits to avoid ahead! Fingers crossed for rock hard willpower.
09/25 - 19st 3.5lbs (+0.7lbs) Not sure what the craic is with this gain, it was undeserved. I was under my calorie goal with good choices and had nearly 15,000 steps on my pedometer yesterday. Even managed to resist the bloody biscuits but nevertheless here we are. Still a loss overall so no worries but hoping to be back on track tomorrow.
09/26 - 19st 3.5lbs (no change) Adding my comment before bed today instead of first thing in the morning because today has just been THAT against me from the get go! Nevertheless I have maintained my willpower, stayed within my calorie goal and got out to do my couch to 5k session despite one child refusing to sleep and the other vomitting all over my running clothes just before I was about to leave. (Ran in pyjama pants and my husband's hoodie. I was NOT giving up today!) Thursday can just bugger off. (I did the run though! W5R1 3x5mins. I am so proud of myself!)
09/27 - 19st 2.5lb (-1lb) Well, thank goodness for that. Looking at a 4.3lb loss do far this challenge. Don't imagine I'm going to hit the moon-on-a-stick 7lb mark with two more days to go but nevertheless I'm not disappointed!

I'm in. This is my third round. Delighted with 2.5 loss in round 89. Aiming to get more daily weights in the 130's... be great to see the back of the 140's. I am going to Florida in 6 weeks time - my niece is getting married in Key West so I'm aiming for 1lb a week till then.

20th Sept 140.5. Late piloxing class followed by late pasta. 16k steps. Yesterday was a good day.
21st Sept. 140.25. Good day yesterday. Stayed within calories. Piloxing class.
22nd Sept. 141.0. Good day yesterday. Hit steps and stayed within calories
23rd Sept: 143.0. Was expecting this. Very poor mental health day yesterday. Didn't get washed or dressed. Stayed at home in and out of bed all day. Made brownies with my son. Ate tonnes of food. I mean , LOTS. Felt sick. Today is a new day and I feel a lot better. Lashing down the water. Aiming to get back to normal weight by Wednesday.
24th Sept: 143.5. A big jump up considering I stayed within calories yesterday and got in all my steps. However......chocolate rocky road did make up 600 of my calories PLUS I haven't gone to the toilet in 6 days and I feel so backed up and bloated. I am drinking approx. 3 litres of water every day, but obviously not enough fibre. Piloxing class tonight.
25th Sept: 142.5. Still haven't gone to the toilet, breaking out the big guns today. All bran for brekkie, beans on toast for lunch and mushy peas with my dinner. Stayed within calories yesterday but didn't hit macros. Ate 400cals of brownie . Piloxing class last night. Planning a walk with the dogs tonight when son in training. Please oh Please let me go to the toilet sometime soon!
26th Sept: 142.25. Stayed within calories and hit my steps yesterday. Really upped my fibre so hoping for some movement in the toilet department soon. Food planned for today and piloxing class tonight.
27th Sept: 142.5. TMI but I eventually went to the toilet. Went 100 over on calories yesterday and 400 of my daily calories went on chocolate rocky road. I have to learn to not give into the treats that are brought into work. Piloxing last night and again tonight. Horrible that this round ends on a weekend aghhhhh.

09/20 172.6 assumably almost all water weight but I’ll take it! Over 16k steps yesterday and (almost) hit my 1.5L of water target.
09/21 171.4 definitely need to increase my fibre! Only managed 8k steps yesterday 😞
09/22 169.8 I have now lost over 10lbs since beginning to use MFP again! Water weight is still weight you carry around so I’m good with whooshing it now and getting down to focusing on fatloss soon. 1.8lbs away from being 12st again makes me happy, as I’m definitely using each stone as a milestone. Yesterday I walked my 10k steps, drank more water and even had a curry I’d prepared weeks ago and frozen (definitely not diet-friendly, but I’m not going to throw out food, just work the rest of my cals for the day around it).
09/23 173 super low mood yesterday led to me eating an entire pizza. HAVE to meal prep today. Gutted.
09/24 171.2 trending back down is always good. Started a new workout class, which was very fun. I have my normal pole fitness class tonight so going to be going straight from work, preparing for a late dinner!
09/25 170.8 work is a nightmare at the moment but I got to my pole class last night! I didn’t even get close to my step goal yesterday but I have been hitting my water target (albeit at night)
09/26 170.6 it was my day off yesterday so I went for a 3 hour walk, got all my shopping done and carried it home, and meal prepped for the next 10 days! I didn’t hit my water goal (not even close) so that’s today’s focus. Very glad to still be losing!
09/27 169.6 finally back below my pizza weight! 14k steps and actually getting close to my water goal helps. I’m starting to really enjoy overnight oats (where I was definitely a cheez on toast girl before) and have been enjoying that fuller for longer feeling.

09/20 61.85kg scale still can't decide between 61.7 and 62.0 so I chose the middle. Which makes me happy! Did a nice 5km run this morning.
09/21 61.6kg 💃🏽and the scale wasn't being weird so I'm going to take it and enjoy! Was out till 1am with my bestie who likes a drink or 10 😁 but I stuck to my water. A late dinner and only 4 hours sleep but I'm raring to go today. Salad lunch out, barbershop and football (soccer that is 😉) watching planned.
09/22 61.7 kg. No problem here. Went over my calories but stayed in deficit. Had a great day.
09/23 62.1kg - 61.8 kg with the scale being weird again... not unexpected as I was over calories again but still in deficit. Ran 3km and now will be very mindful of eating.
09/24 61.5kg after the gym which is a new low! 4.5 ish kg {10lbs} to go... Or 31st December. I'm going into maintenance at whichever I hit 1st!
09/25 61.8kg. Usual mid week blip up which will be gone by the weekend. Ran 3km and later today I have a strength training club and then I'm trying aerobics... Phew! All followed by a smart dinner out... Time to make smart choices

09/23 207.2. Happy Fall Equinox! Today I begin an extended fast. No matter what I am going to muscle through to next Sunday, but I hope to go 10 days for some true healing.
09/24 206. I was successful at fasting yesterday & expect that today will be the same. I feel strong & determined
09/25 203.2. For the first time ever I am successfully fasting. I have not had a nibble of food. I am drinking coffee & water & taking my supplements. I am active & I feel good. I have mentally prepared for this fast since the spring equinox.
09/26 202.2. Yesterday I felt so good about fasting. Then I got really hungry after yoga. To be fair I did get almost 14000 steps & did a 1 hour hot yoga class. I feel good this morning, a little tired.
09/27 203. I ended my fast last night. I wasn’t feeling great & I was hungry. I am a little disappointed I didn’t push through but I still beat my last longest fast by an hour.

09/20 191.4 (-0.4) did my workout and 15K steps. Sticking to this dr prescribed diet which is fairly close to keto but not as much saturated fat. In moderate ketosis this am. Probably going to drop quickly this week due to water weight.
09/21 191.6 (+0.2) 17 K steps and on plan. Tired today so didn't get to my workout.
09/22 Away. Not my scale. May weigh on another scale for comparison.
09/23 193.8 (+2.2) not surprising to have the jump. Ate off plan this weekend a bit and not very active.
09/24 191.4(-2.4) ok so the weekend blip is over. Haven't started working out again since last week so going to get to it today. Feeling skinnier though! Did my measurements and gave lost 17" in the last 6 weeks (2 rounds if 21 day fix). It's so easy to lose focus and give up too soon. I really want to learn from these last 6 weeks that even if it's not perfect, progress will still happen over time.

I might reschedule some stuff today to at least get to one. I don't think I woll have time to do Monday & Tuesdays workout but better late than never!

09/20 -193.8lbs- Starting off this round celebrating a 10lb loss since I started back on my journey!
09/21 -193.4lbs- No planned exercise. Still watching the calories though.
09/22 -193lbs- Got in some slow walking and house work yesterday. Also found out that it is really challenging to eat out and stay within calories!
09/23 -192.8lbs- Weekend went pretty well. On to Monday and a little meal planning. I don't love meal planning but I have got to stick with it.
09/24 -192.8lbs- No exercise yesterday except housework. My base calories without exercise is 1200...not easy to stick to but I should be back to walking soon. I can always find some work to do around here until then!
09/25 -191.9lbs- Calorie count was good yesterday. Did an exercise video online yesterday and will do another today. I will do some meal planning today. It is hard to stay in calorie range if I don't plan ahead.
09/26 -192.8lbs- I ate well yesterday and did a low impact cardio video and my calf muscles are so sore! I was walking, even jogging a little, several times a week so that soreness was unexpected!
09/27 -192.4lbs- I had a very stressful evening yesterday but I did NOT soothe myself with food. I went to my room to take a few deep breathes and get control of my thoughts and then I went for a walk. This is a skill I need to practice every day!

09/23 – 143 – I had extra sodium, little water, and more food than I usually do on a weekend. I also have a professional luncheon today and I’m not sure what’s on the menu. I’ll have to be extra mindful over the next couple days to compensate for the last few days.
09/24 – 143.5 – I’m going through a stressful period right now, but I have some plans in place to try to mitigate the damage.
09/25 – 144 – I quit smoking on Sunday, so this is not a surprise. I’m trying to stick to my eating plans and increase my exercise. I’m glad I’m here so I don’t completely go off the rails!
09/26 – 143 – I did better on my snacking yesterday and drank more water. I’m also moving a bit more to relieve stress.
09/27 – 142.5 – I’m going to work really hard to stay within maintenance calories this weekend. I’m trending up in my weight, but I’m sure it would have been worse if I wasn’t weighing in every day.

Round 89 wasn’t any better than the last few rounds. I’m going to keep joining though and keep trying. I need to get my diet under control and start doing some form of exercise again. I think I need to update my excel sheet and start tracking my numbers again that was motivating me to see the trends going down.

Sept 22 - 186.2 - I don’t feel well at all and hopefully I can knuckle down after I feel better.

Sept 24 - 188.2 - still sick and not feeling like putting effort into this right now.
