I didn't used to mind "So I did a thing..." but it's become SO overused and obnoxious. People using it for stuff like voting, a grocery run, or highlights in their hair.

A few years ago when I first heard it, I didn't mind because it was stuff like a total career change or buying a house.

I have heard this 3 times today...In the context of...I fixed the mistake you made before it became a disaster. No...no, it wasn't a "great catch", it was an obvious error on your part because you didn't check your work. Don't make it sound like I should be proud of myself for noticing and correcting your sloppy mistakes.
