Hello! I'm new to this page and just looking for friends that are on a similar journey, namely, trying to stay healthy and fit in your 50's, and beyond! I never had a weight problem until I got into my 50's and it was super hard to lose the weight. I'm fighting the fight (the weight gain, the muscle loss, the depression, etc.) that comes with this age and I am starting to see good results, though it's hard to fight this battle alone. Looking for others who would like to be MFP friends so we can spur each other on with encouragement and ideas of what is working for you.3

Matchka thanks for combining all our answers to the hobbies challenge! Interesting variety but a lot of commonality too!
My BP is all over the place! One more day than I’m going back to my original Med combination. Can’t deal with the side effects! Scared I’ll have a heart attack or end up in ER!
Going to order EltonJohn’s book for my kindle. Love his music. Watched the movie about him recently and was very impressed by the actor that played him. Did you know the actor, Bisby I think is his last name, sang the songs in the movie himself? He did an awesome job!

@juliedee20 Welcome to the group. We’re all fighting to stay fit/healthy. You’ll get lots of advice and support here. This morning I'm Prepping for a workshop on Silhouettes with my Monday Painters group this afternoon.
DH just brought me coffee so I will go and watch Pointless with my feet up before dinner.

Welcome, Most of us find support and encouragement by being part of this thread. I hope you'll come back and share your journey with us and join in the conversations that are going on. I have been part of this thread for a few years and have learned so much from these women as I've lost weight, kept it off, and trudged through many of life's challenges.

Oh Kelly!! ... Congratulations ... such a precious photo! I get all weepy looking at new life, new promise ... sigh
I have no hobbies ... I have no dreams ... no life really ... ! Seriously though, no hobbies and I can't see exercise as anything but drudgery ... I've tried to "flip the script." Can't.
Hello NY Karen! ... their refrigerators are always empty ...

beth call me a sucker cause I took her to the store and loaded her up (and filled her car with gas ). We also had great bbq for dinner and a fun diner breakfast—my favorite thing when travelling. She is appreciative and working on finding paid internships so a little support won’t spoil her (hopefully).
Looking forward to being home

Then I'm a sucker too. I traveled 700 miles at the beginning of September to cook and fill my son's freezer and refrigerator. Not much we won't do for our babies!!

Barbie--Your bathroom remodel looks great. I would like to redo ours and take out the tube and put in a big walkin shower.
KarenVA--Thanks for the update and pictures of Josephine. Keeping everyone in prayer.
Rebecca--It's good for bonding.
Allie--So sorry for your loss. No matter that you know it is coming it is still a shock and painful. Sending hugs and prayers.
KJ--Congrates on your beautiful new grandson. What does big brother think?
I agree, when our son lived out of town and was single I would stock up everytime we went to visit and fill his kitchen with food. Part of being a mom.
Blessings, Vicki GI NE Where we got NO snow and having beautiful Fall temps.<33 -
OKay, all caught up on reading posts while the kids nap. I will have to comment on what is going on with everyone either later tonight or tomorrow morning as the kids are beginning to wake. Just want you to know that I missed you ladies this past week, but had no time to chat. Details later. Love to you all! KJ5

Kelly, so happy to hear Miguel Emiliano arrived at last! What beautiful, serene faces he, Joaquin and your daughter have.
Welcome juliedee20
Scale hasn't moved, but I can see I've lost some weight … in my face. The wrinkles are really standing out in high relief with less fat underneath to plump them out. Fooey!
T'ai Chi/line dancing friend coming over soon to practice some dances I struggle with, then to relax in the hot tub with sparkling wine, cheese, veggies. Have some TJ's mandarin cranberry sparkling water I'll try diluting the sparkling wine so I consume less alcohol. Then we're off to see Downton Abbey with friends.
Lighter, lovelies!

Beth, I think your hobby is taking care of your children. It fills a lot of your time and brings you joy. What's fun for other people may not be fun for you, and vice versa.
Kelly, congrats on your beautiful new grandson.
I just found out that there is a Great Canadian Baking Show on TV so I started watching it today. Such nice people and interesting baking.

Well I am beat, got 3 hrs work in before I got a text from DD she had been in an accident.. so i left work, both her and DGD were ok.. but sustained alot of front end damage..so i had to lug the groceries home go back to wait for two truck, then go to body shop and then over to the rental car place..
Next 2 days will be busy with wake and funeral and have to be down in new haven at 4:45 Thursday morning to catch the train.
He got us a cheap hotel with a continental breakfast and we have to pay for our lunch and he will pay us back 15.00 for a dinner meal really ,in NYC what are you going to get for that..
By the time we get home to Portland will be after 10 pm friday night and i have to be at work at 7:30 the next morning.. wowza .. what a week6 -
Allie-good to here DD and DGD were not injured. What is the old saying "It never rains but it pours"? Not like you needed anything else on your plate.
Had to deal with ugly issue at church today, but it is over. I believe we made the right decision.
Knee and leg still not happy. Had some bruising show up from foam roller so laying off that. Se doctor tomorrow and hopefully start tracking down the issue.
Otherwise, everything the same in my world. Back to work tomorrow. Good thing about doctor, I will probably just go home after I see him, so short day before next three days are busy.

Hi Gals,
Kelly -great picture! Such handsome grandsons you have.
Allie – So glad to hear your DD and DGS are ok… sorry to hear you are still headed to the work deal in NYC - I was hoping you could get out of it, with the funeral etc. Hang in there…. Thinking about you.
Rebecca – love to see you post… you always bring a smile to my face.
Mom was here this weekend and it was a good time, it is always better if we have things to do together, but ANYthing I come up with she is not interested in, and she almost never comes up with an idea. This weekend we went and visited a friend of hers in memory care – she can be taken out to lunch or a drive or even drinks as at 93 years old this friend is only on a calcium pill but is slowly losing her memory. Then on Sunday we went to an antiques fair. Nice to get out.

Skimmed a lot but can’t catch up.
Allie- you were a blessing to your FIL for many years and I am so glad you were with him to the end. I love that Josh Zhoben song and it was so perfect for a sign that fil was ok in heaven. Hugs
KJ- congrats on your beautiful baby #2. He is georgeous. Hope you are enjoying your time in TX.
Hobbies to make money- like someon else said, I spend it. Although we have 27 pecan trees and some years pick them up for extra money.
Exercise- golf, yoga, SS classic at Y, walking my puppy but he doesn’t go very far. Just finished water aerobics.
Creative- audio books, bridge and I use to knit a lot before my eyes got too bad.
Missed you all but will do better.

Did one segment of 10MS Ball Workout then took the extremepump class. The plan for tomorrow is to do some HIIT then Rummikub in the evening.
Luci – what a lovely shirt
NYKaren – filling DD’s refrigerator – that’s called being a mother. Even to this day and my kids are out of college, I still put food in their refrigerator.
After exercise stopped at the Salvation Army, didn’t get anything but I was surprised that they were opened. Then to Aldi. According to the website of where we take ceramics, they’re closed tonight. Update: they were open
KJ – Miguel is so cute. What a head of hair!!! Thanks for posting
Julie – welcome!
Allie – for dinner, you can probably get McDonald’s for less than $15….lol So glad no one was injured
Went to ceramics tonight. One gal picked up this crab for me from the lady in VA. Another lady went to SC (we need to go there) and got me a large mug, I just need to paint it. I had been looking for a large mug to have down at the condo. Honestly, I probably could have bought a cheaper one at Target, but this one will be from me.
