7 am in Vegas another 24 💗 have a great day all!5

@ellie117 - Congratulations on the 22 days...!!!
I go through ups and downs, periods of cravings and other times I have no desire to drink. I had 7 drinks on Friday of last week. I woke up feeling awful and I haven't forgotten the feeling so I'm fine with nothing for now. I'm also a binge drinker. I breastfed my son for 16 months, no problem abstaining from alcohol. But once I get that feeling, it's hard to stop so I'm just going AF until Thanksgiving week.
@forestdweller1 Winemakers are starting to use screwtops now even for finer wines because they're finding that screwtops keep the wine fresher if you're not going to drink it all in one day.6 -
October 16 - AF
October 17 - AF
October 18 - 1 wine, 2 drinks
October 19 - 2 drinks. I did the "wait 6 minutes" thing 4 times, then kind of caved. However, I didn't go for the 3rd like I usually do. Bad to do 2 days in a row though. I was digging my heart out in the garden, still so much to do! The last 15 minutes of it I was like "how lovely it would be to sit in the tub with a cocktail and watch TV after this." (yes, I have a TV in my bathroom) I held out for about 1/2 an hour, and then dove in. Still not quite in the AF headspace.
October 20 - Sip of wine and 2 drinks. Considering that I am calling Tuesday my drinks days, I had at least better be AF tomorrow!!
October 21 - AF
October 22 - Tuesday. 3 drinks.
October 23 - AF
October 24 - 3 drinks - Obviously not where I have been at for 10 months, but still being mindful. For sure need to rack up some more AF days.
Running monthly total: 8AF days out of 24 days so far.1 -

@dawnbgethealthy we are headed to a Blues game tomorrow night! Friday night the traveling show of Dear Evan Hansen with some girlfriends, Saturday night a Halloween party, Sunday night my Chiefs play... Monday leave for a work trip for a few days, home for Halloween to round out the month so I may still be at 13AF days by then!
Also heading to Philly for a weekend trip first of November, and we are going to a Flyers game Dawn!
OMG girl, so jelly in here!! I saw the St. Louis Blues in Colorado back in '97 when Brett Hull and Pierre Turgeon were still with the group. I wanted them so badly to win a cup all of these years and they finally did : - )
Guessing that you live in or near St. Louis Missouri. Beat the LA Kings badly tonight. Wow, you were there, so jealous!!
Philly, wow, I saw them play in Calgary when the "Legion of Doom" was still together: Eric Lindross, John LeClair, and Mikael Renberg. Startlingly, Mark Recchi was the stand out for me that night. Ah, so long ago, and all of those guys retired now.
Philly has Claude Giroux still, and JVR (James Van Riemsdyk) still but nobody else that I recognize much. Are you seeing the Toronto Maple Leafs or the New Jersey Devils. doesn't matter, still jelly. (but want to know!)
Heck, you are living my dream life!! My goal is all 30 NHL cities to see games in my lifetime. Whittling away at the list, Dallas was an awesome place to experience NHL.
Pay attention lol, I will want deets : - )3 -
@WinoGelato
I shouldn't have so quickly skipped by Dear Evan Hansen. I would love to see it. It won't come anywhere near me, it is only playing in big cities. I am excited for you that you get to see it, and would love to hear about your experience.
I do know the story sort of, the main character pretends to be a friend of a deceased boy, sort of getting a new family via this.
@Womona probably knows, she is our theatre babe.
Again, kind of jealous of your life right now @WinoGelato but in a good way. Live it up : - )1 -
I also find I’m getting picky with alcohol, kind of like losing a bunch a weight and not wanting to blow it on a big doughnut.
This month, I can honestly say I only had one glass of wine that was truly delicious and that I really savored. Everything else ranged from “meh” to “just Ok”. So now I’m asking myself if it’s worth it to give up an AF day for something that’s “just OK”.
100%. I was offered some wine yesterday, and I knew the label, and knew that it was "meh", so had an AF day instead.
The same with food, if it is not delicious then I am not going to waste calories on it.5 -

Good catch, @LoveyChar , my favorite white now sports a screw top, still the same vino. At least it was 3 months ago.
Have fun weekend, y'all !!2 -

October 25 - 3 drinks, yep, 2 days in a row. Not just drinks, very indulgent evening, Ribs dinner, way over my calories.
I have had 1100 calories leftover each day for more than 15 days this month because of all the ice skating and stuff.
Apparently not over being self-indulgent just quite yet, sort of rewarded myself with very fattening ribs and drinks. 3 days until my MFP 1 yr anniversary, and November 28th 2018 was when I started cutting back on booze by joining this thread. I really did quite well until this month, just haven't gotten my mojo back yet for that, but I firmly believe that I will...but probably not this weekend when I have company and a cocktail party on Sunday. If nothing else, logging on to this is in some way keeping me accountable. Don't want to call it failure, just falling off of the wagon a bit.

@dawnbgethealthy you’ll get back on track. A lot of people on MFP find success with diet breaks to kind of recharge themselves after the fatigue of constantly monitoring and being vigilant about a deficit. You’ve loosened up the reins but you’re aware and still logging for accountability. You got this!5
-
@dawnbegethealthy you're doing great! Progress as I see it and yes I'm jealous you have a TV in your bathroom 😂 October is nearly over,it's flown! 6:51 in Vegas I'll take another 24 of no drinks3

Mostly (2 exceptions...) AF in October. *Have* to stay on track today and tomorrow. Weigh in Monday psychologically important.
Feel like a drink but not gonna do it. (There I wrote that so I'm committed.) Woot, woot.4 -

17 days AF so far. No plans to drink the rest of this month. If that happens, I’ll be one day shy of my goal. I was aiming for 23 days AF. No biggie - proud that I was able to abstain and choose when I really wanted to drink.
Great job to everyone checking in!4 -

Multiple adult Haloween party's last night. 7 hours worth. Only half of an alcoholic drink all night.

22 out of 22 days AF!
For those of you who drank regularly before starting this challenge - what are some of your feelings so far after cutting back a bit/completely?
My husband and I are in this together, but we don't really feel a big difference so far. We drank Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and most Sundays, so we went from consistent drinking to cold turkey. He is easier to wake up on Saturday and Sunday mornings though How has it been working for you?
I used to have at least one drink every night. Now that I’ve cut back to only a few times per week (weekends usually), I notice I sleep SO much better when I don’t drink. So that is a huge win in my book. Also, my tolerance for alcohol has plummeted. Which I think is good! In addition, my weight has gone down because I’m not drinking my calories and engaging in drunk eating. Makes a huge difference.6 -
14 out of 27 days AF! I wanted one tonight but had my seltzer &cranberry instead and the feeling is passing.7
-
24 days AF now. I've had a drink only when I really made a conscious decision to have one, not when I craved one or felt I should have one out of habit, or in a certain situation, which are all different.
I've noticed that even after having just one drink, my appetite is huge the next day. Going AF has really curbed this. That, combined with the empty calories from the alcohol itself, it's no wonder my weight loss stalled. 5lb down this month so far10 -
27 out of 27 days AF this month! Made it through the last full weekend, including a town event that had a beer garden.
Husband and I like the challenge this posed for us, but I don't think we're ready to completely give up alcohol after month's end. But this has really proven that we can do it, and we can definitely moderate our consumption in terms of days and how much.11 -

Proving that you can do it makes it that little bit easier to do it again when you feel like it. Well done to you both!6 -
Went to a charity poker tournament in Seattle where the only thing they had to drink was wine or beer, so I nursed one Stella over the course of 3 hours. Halloween party Saturday where I wasn't quite so austere, with 3 white Russians, one beer and another shot of whiskey. Terrible headache yesterday, ran it off after 13 miles. 24 AF days out of 28. One more drinking day to go in October.7
