Goals this round.... Little to no added sugar; no flour products; calories below maintenance. I’m setting up my own system to track the days I stick to those goals. This round I will check in daily on my goals, but weigh only on days 5 and 10 as an experiment. And I’m considering this round a new restart.

We had to go to Indianapolis yesterday, so I spent driving calories, about 7 hours worth between there and back and around Indy. I did stick pretty much with good food choices until late evening when I had some ice cream. But I’m determined to eat properly the rest of this round. Thank you all for your inspirations, examples, and support.

Happy Halloween & Blessed Samhain! So far I’ve successfully ignored the candy sitting on the counter for this evening’s spooky little beggars, but I was not so successful with the zucchini bread or calories at last night’s Master Gardener meeting. But today is a new day.

Goals yesterday....I did have a little added sugar (1 Reese’s pumpkin from the trick or treat bowl) and a small bowl of lime sherbet), but mostly I ate very healthy. No flour products. Calories not great but not bad. And I finished painting my bathroom. Yay! Now on to the hallway. Have a lovely weekend, all!

I cheated a bit (again) last night. House painting makes me hungry! We’re meeting a friend for dinner this evening — she’s in town for the dog show and I haven’t seen her since this time last year. We met on the train from Nevada to Chicago in 2011 — I love chance meetings like that that stick. Enjoy the weekend, all!

We went out for dinner last night but I stuck with grilled salmon, unadorned sweet potato, and salad with no croutons and a tiny bit of dressing. I did eat a couple of fun-size candies from the bowl — trick or treat was rescheduled here until yesterday — but that’s gone now. Slowly getting back to some self-control. Enjoy your Sunday!

11/04 - DNW - At BF's all weekend. Kids made me eat a couple pieces of candy with them and unfortunately my BF is not all in on this paleo/primal lifestyle so I couldn't stick to it very well this weekend. But back on it starting today! TOM came so I'm not at all sure how weight will look tomorrow. I feel less bloated despite the weekend and TOM so I'm hoping I stuck to primal enough that it didn't set me back too much. I'm looking forward to the week ahead and all it has to offer!

Previous Day's Comments10/30 - Um, whoa! I finished my ham&beans at lunch and had a small FiberOne bar as a snack to hold me over until dinner (I knew I had to cook so it'd be longer). Other than that, I stuck to a primal/paleo diet yesterday. Just didn't want to waste food so I finished it off. Today I have a ton of roasted mixed vegetables, some mashed butternut squash, and baked chicken breast for both lunch and dinner. Luckily I didn't have much in my house grocery-wise so cleaning out non-primal foods really wasn't hard at all. It was stuff that needed to be tossed anyway because it was on the older side. Now I need to make sure I meet 1200 minimum (I was 50cals under yesterday) and ideally 1500 with this change. Must buy appropriate snacks! Need to go grocery shopping anyway. I'm lacking frozen veggies (ideal given my travel schedule -- at least I know I won't waste it). Also, restarting IF because I felt amazing on it once my body adjusted and I miss that.
10/31 - I splurged a little with a single reese's pumpkin (pumpkin and trees are the best, I swear. Its gotta be the peanut butter to chocolate ratio!) Also had a granola bar because I needed SOMETHING to get through the day after lunch settled out. But I'm out of granola bars and the reese's was from my neighbor. Today is food truck day so I'm going to have to do my best with that. I know they have good options. Dinner is thawed and ready for cooking (zucchini spaghetti with homemade meat sauce). That will also give me lunch tomorrow! Black ice out so not sure if I'll get a good workout in. But trying to just move more throughout the day if I can.
11/01 - whoosh much? Wasn't expecting that, honestly. This Paleo/primal lifestyle really is making a difference. I'm already sleeping better, I don't have the bloat and swelling anymore and it's only been 3 days (and one completely true Paleo day yesterday as I had a treat a day the first two days as a matter of not wasting). Yesterday I didn't deal with my typical fatigue and grogginess at all. I feel great!

Will this be the round that I hit my goal for this year? It will be if I get serious and end the eating out. My goal for this round is at least a two pound loss.
10/30 284.6 This bounce up is nothing more than the usual ovulation bounce up. I actually went back over my weight and ovulation times to prove it to myself. If all goes the same as the past it should be gone tomorrow or at worst in two days.
10/31 282.2 And the whoosh. I do have a small family party and eat out planned today, but I preplanned them and know what I can have to stay in calorie goals. I might still see a bounce tomorrow from sodium, but I’m positive I will reach my goal for this year by Monday at the latest.
11/01 281.4 I stayed on plan yesterday! I wasn’t expecting another drop today, but I’m happy seeing it. This loss puts me a little under my 100 pound loss goal for this year. I’m going to shoot for at least another 8 before the Christmas holiday.
11/02 280.4 I’m sure this freefall will end soon. I suspected that I had been retaining water for awhile now from the new exercise bike, but I didn’t think it was this much.
11/03 279.4 Still in free fall. Don’t worry I’m not starving myself and am eating at a decent calorie level.
11/04 278.8 I was so busy with errands yesterday, but I did them all between meals and made sure that I was at home near meal times so that I didn’t grab something out. Because of this I didn’t drink enough yesterday and I feel dehydrated today. On the plus side I don’t have anything planned until Thursday so I can rest a little and recover from my busy weekend.

10/30: 292.0 lbs (+1.4) .. bit of an uptick this morning, nothing too bad. Most likely going to take it pretty easy today aside from some walking.
10/31: 290.9 lbs (-1.1) … back down near my current low weight. Had a good run this morning, 3 miles over 40 minutes. It was warmer than normal for this time of year, but rainy. The rain felt pretty good though! I have my second strength training personal trainer session this evening after work, then I’m manning the door for trick or treaters for the remainder of the evening.
11/01: 292.2 lbs (+1.3) … pushed my calories yesterday slightly higher than I have for the past week or so, and ate a bit more carb-heavy than typical. I’m just glad that I’m hovering in the 290-292 range instead of staying at 295 like I was for the last few weeks.
11/02: 292.4 lbs (+0.2) … didn’t go out for a run this morning as planned… my legs were really sore from the gym on Thursday night. We’ll see how I feel in the morning. Likely going to take it easy today and rest.
11/03: 294.3 lbs (+1.9) … the number on the scale keeps creeping up. Been eating well within my budget, so it's not food related. Was a bit frustrated about it until I read this morning that it's pretty common when you're beginning strength training and have sore muscles.

@quiltingjaine -We go to a Catholic retreat center in San Juan Bautista. CA. They feed us 3 meals a day and the monks that run it don’t care how late we stay up and sew. They also let us bring in what ever snacks or drinks we want in between meals.

10/30 163.5 Same as yesterday. I got in 4.25 miles, 2.25 of that more hiking than walking. I ended up having a salad for lunch and salad for dinner. After committing to eating out less, my friend asked me to go to dinner last night and I said yes. I had a salad again because it was the best choice. I REALLY wanted their brisket grilled cheese which is the BEST but even half of it is expensive on calories. Freezing rain this afternoon, no outside walks. I did bring stuff for the gym if the weather allows I'll lift weights tonight.
10/31 164.2 ARGH. I'm not sure why I'm up. I was good yesterday. The weather did not hold, so no gym. No exercise tonight because it's HALLOWEEN! Don't be frightened by my scary ghost costume.
11/1 164.5 Double argh! Stayed out of the candy, for the most part, was under calorie goal even with what I had. Stupid water I guess. I should get a walk in tonight. Three miles maybe a little more. Happy Friday All. @deepwoodslady My thoughts are with you.
11/2 164.9 I walked four miles after work yesterday. It was wonderful. Not sure what's going on with the weight.
11/3 DNW The time change messed up my brain and I forgot to weigh. I spent almost 5 hours cleaning the house and doing yard work on yesterday. I went for a short walk (1.5 miles) and then had friends over Saturday night (which explains the marathon house/yard clean up). Our menu was a healthy one - hummus and veggies as an appetizer, fancy tomato soup and grilled cheese for the main course and apple oatmeal crisp for dessert. Unfortunately, the broth I used for the soup was not low sodium so probably some water retention. After our delicious dinner, we sat around the fire pit until it got too cold.
11/4 165.9 Too much weekend. I did walk another 4 miles yesterday. This really is my favorite time of year for walking. I've walked 9.5 miles in 3 days. I'm heading to the gym tonight. I haven't done weights in 2 weeks. Try drinking a lot of water today to flush out my system.10 -

▪11/1 - 183 - Currently, I really do not know what my actual weight is. I weigh early a.m. every day, usually before 12 fasted hours are completed. I hardly ever feel hungry. Fasted for 24.5hrs/not intentional. 20g carbs. Meal time~ 8pm.

Edit: I have been thinking, for a while now, to eliminate stevia in my coffee to see if that has caused a stall in my weight loss. That is the only "food" item that I haven't experimented with. I could have developed an intolerance. It's worth a try.

11/03 …..185.6 ….. A very low cal & carb day due to yaking on the phone with my cousin during my normal dinner hour. It was so late after the call, I just had an Atkins meal bar & called it done. After extra low calorie & carb days I usually have a binge day due to excessive hunger. I am learning this pattern and am trying to always get a healthy amount of cals & carbs in for my plan. So I count yesterday as a too low/fail. Today I will increase everything without excess and stave off excessive hunger. At least, that is the plan. Yesterday’s stats: 565 Calories In / 2566 Calories Out. 9 Net Carbs. 14,275 Total Steps & 6.04 Total Miles. 11/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 4 hours & 49 minutes which included my extra hour for Daylight Savings Time. I walked for 67 minutes at a moderate pace burning an extra 316 Calories. Happy Sunday everyone!
11/04 …..186.0 ….. Yesterday's weight was a bit unrealistic due to a lack of solid calories the day before. "Too good to be true". Yesterday I ate back my workout calories & carbs but stayed within the perimeters. Perhaps a bit too much sodium so I will focus on water today. Yesterday’s stats: 1501 Calories In / 2617 Calories Out. 61 Net Carbs. 14,381 Total Steps & 6.09 Total Miles. 12/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 5 hours & 24 minutes and woke up very tired, dragging. I proved my commitment to myself by walking in FREEZING COLD TEMPS at early dark in my neighborhood for 46 minutes and burned an extra 271 calories. I walked at 3.5 mph to get my freezing butt home quickly! I watched for bears and carried my bear spray. Today I plan on walking inside the school which is unavailable most weekends. I am at goal for the round today. Now, to keep up the momentum! Have a great week everyone!
