11/18 …..185.8….. ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND
11/19 …..185.8 ….. A very good day yesterday. I was hoping for another drop on the scale but it maintained. Got to this weight on a whoosh so I guess I have to let it get comfortable before it moves down again. Yesterday’s stats: 1004 Calories In / 2780 Calories Out. 40 Net Carbs. 21,201 Total Steps & 8.97 Total Miles. 13/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 3 hours & 12 minutes. I walked at 3.25 mph for 97 minutes doing school-hall walking and I walked for 32 minutes at 3.0 mph with a planned walk around my property. Total extra calorie burn 750. I prep cooked yesterday a bit. I have invited my cousin & his son over for a Mexican dinner tonight. I will be mindful. Good luck everyone on this round. The progress I am seeing from all of you
is phenomenal!

Goal(s) for this round (unchanged from last round): Get under 215.0 and stay there. Keep up my progress 1) planning better when I'm having "cheat" days (parties, eating out with family and friends, et cetera), 2) limiting alcohol intake (no more than two drinks on any occasion, stick with red wine or spirit + diet soda) and 3) continuing to lift weights at the gym 3x/wk.
Day/Weight/Comment
11/19: 215.6 (-1.6)/18.0 (-0.2). I'm still feeling stressed, but this weigh-in feels closer to where I actually am. I have officially gone from barely fitting into my XL shirts to fitting comfortably in most of my L shirts. Gotta love the NSVs; . I'm going to have to wait until tomorrow to hit the gym, but I'm excited get back at it (haven't been since Friday).

My "Christmas Season" starts in end November already and will run till mid-January (between family, office and friends.... ) In one way I want to enjoy myself but then I'll feel discouraged if I put weight on (it'll be hard not to over next month).
I'm hoping to add more exercise to my days to try and compensate... Do you have any other recommendations?
For the office, I stay away from the kitchen. I also convince myself that someone has sneezed all over the baked goods...that helps me stay away from them 😄
😂😂 excellent!!5 -

In addition, if I want to enjoy, I just take "testers" of the things I really really want. One little bite here and there adds up, yes, but I find that if I truly sit down and savor that one bite, it was worth it and I don't have to eat a typical serving to get the same satisfaction. I also limit myself to the number of "testers" I get to try. I have to think long and hard about which thing I want which helps me also think about the feelings it gives me (bloat, heaviness, lethargy are some things I experience when I'm not careful with my eating). I'll admit, I fail at this A LOT but I know, even if I fail, I'm aware of it and that's the first step for me.
That's a good idea! I'm not sure I'd be able to stop once I start eating but I can try, thanks 😁6 -
I'm back, I like this daily accountability & reflection!

11/19 | 134.1 | 0.3kg gain | 6,494 steps ✅ | Food Diary ✅ | Ate far too much yesterday, including for dinner, so I'm not surprised by this gain. Though I did get my steps in and met my movement goal (by walking in place in my kitchen last night!) so taking some positives out of that. Drank loads of water but still feel a bit dehydrated so I'll keep that up today as well. Better food choices planned for today to get me back on track.
11/20 | 134.1 | No change | 6,766 steps ✅ | Food Diary ✅ | Yesterday was a good day. I drank loads of water, closed all my Apple watch rings and even managed a little bit of jogging amongst my walking (this is a lot of weight to run with, so I'm happy I could do a minute or two at a time). I did a little bit of yoga last night which felt great and really opened up my hips (one problem area). I'm still working out what fluctuations are normal for me so seeing no change on the scale is fine. I'm also still working out how many calories I should be eating so at this point I'm thinking I need to reduce it some.

Lowered my goal to 5 this time. I am logging good. That is like taking a bath every day for me, so doing something more challenging for me that I need to stop that I have been letting creep back into my diet too much. Not a lot, but more than I would like.

My journey … "I May Not Be Where I Want To Be, but I’m Not Where I Use To Be!"In 2003 Weighed over 600 lbs.My highest weight was 611 in 2003. Weight in 2004 before weight loss surgery was 580. Lowest weight after surgery was 302 in 2007. "I May Not Be Where I Want To Be, but I’m Not Where I Use To Be!"
In 2005 Weighed under 400 lbs.
In 2007 lowest weight after surgery 302lbs
I joined MFP on March 27, 2010 weighing in at 388 pounds. I was re-gaining weight and stumbled up on it while trying to get back on track. I was determined never to see 400+ on that scale again for me.
I have been morbidly obese all my life. I have a lifetime of mental and physical scars from obesity. In October 2004 I had Gastric Bypass surgery. WLS (Weight Loss Surgery) was the best gift that I could and did give to myself.
Between 2008 and 2010 I gradually gained back 80 of almost 300 pounds lost initially after weight loss surgery. I never reached my goal weight of 200 pounds. I still managed to keep off over 65 percent of the weight I lost which is very good and I am very proud of my accomplishments since 2004. It has literally changed my life for the better on all levels. I am here to lose re-gained weight and to reach my initial goal weight. I am in no hurry. I am taking this one day at a time and I am in it for the long haul.
Surgery did not fix the head. It is a good tool and the best gift I have given to myself, but it was not the easy way out as many people think. Once the honeymoon period is over after the WLS it is up to the patient to keep the weight off.
On August 29, 2011-- I was admitted to Intensive Out Patient Eating Disorder Program to learn how to manage my binge eating disorder effectively. The program is wonderful indeed and will be instrumental in me reaching all of my goals. The focus of this program was how to eat and not diet. Weight loss was not a goal of the program. I actually gained 20 pounds in program. But I had to get thru a lot of stuff and my the time I was released I had stopped gaining. I was discharged from program on December 3, 2011.
My tool is still working for me today. My head is still the issue. SO the struggle continues. I will never beat myself up again. I fight the fine fight faithfully and positively everyday. Because that is what will get me to my goals one day. Even though it may not show up on the scale every day -- Everyday I make progress one way or another just by showing up, waking up and trying.
Giving up is not an option for me. Perseverance, Patience, & Positive thinking will help me reach my goals…… and the same is true for you too!! We have the power within us.Round 64 - SW 373.4 EW 369 (-4.4)

@huevosverdesysam I'm assuming we are welcoming you back under a different name?! So good to see you here!
@171lake Happy Birthday!
@matratazola For the holidays....There were a lot of good ideas. I try to preplan, drink lots of water, eat lightly around the treats. Also, don't make a treat event a treat day! For mindless party munching, eat the veggie tray! Skip the everyday stuff on the party buffet, and keep the servings of the "holiday only specials" small. Eat mindfully, and savor the food. Enjoy the company! Don't be too hard on yourself (but, I repeat, don't let the treat event turn into a treat day, into a treat week, into giving up and binging!) You can do it!9 -
I have set myself a new goal for 2019 and a new UGW.
Things are looking good for my revised 2019 goal. Happy Scale has shown a steady downward trend since the end of July, despite having one or two lapses last round.

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

Hi. My name is Trina.
This 10 days may well be a bit of a mess. We are going to a new restaurant for dinner tonight to celebrate my husband's birthday and my start of chemo tomorrow! Chemo starts tomorrow and could lead to loss of appetite and/or comfort eating and I think they may give me some steroids, so that would also complicate matters! I'm still trying to get down to 128, before officially starting to maintain, but mostly want to get and stay under 130.

When I first signed on to these challenges over 2 years ago I thought it was strictly a weight loss challenge. I noticed that someone was posting daily that she was around 105-110# and I really didn’t understand WHY she was still hanging out here. At my then weight in the high 160’s getting to my goal seemed so far off. As I approached my own goal, I realized how important the accountability was to me and so understood that tiny person’s daily posts. I don’t remember who she was, nor do I know what happened to her. Now below my original goal, I understand the accountability and the importance of daily posting - or if I’m traveling, keeping track of whatever I can to post when I again have an internet connection. I encourage you all to stick around and post daily. This is a wonderful, supportive group and we love having YOU join us!
I so agree with you, Jaine. I always do better when I am posting here.7 -
I would like to join!

Round 96 (my 18th)
It’s crunch time for my students, so I’ll be holding extra office hours and workshops to help them get caught up before Thanksgiving break. This round, I really want to push myself to get out and walk, as I could use the mental space as well as the exercise.

Day/Weight/Comment
11/19 – 176.6 – It’s always nice to see a drop at the start of a round. Tuesday is my busiest day this semester, but a workshop and a last-minute commitment made this an especially tough one. No time to walk, but I met my calorie goals.

@matratazola - Thanks for starting the conversation about holiday strategies. Such great ideas being shared!
One thing that's helped me manage vacations and holidays is to shift my focus to non-calorie treats and experiences. Drive - or better yet, walk - around the neighborhood and look at the lights, go ice-skating, take in a special art exhibit, make a big pot of tea and curl up with a book, play a silly party game, call someone who makes you laugh. Sure, there will still be plenty of edible (and drinkable) temptations, but they needn't dominate the season.11 -
