@orangequilt thank you. I have been drinking the sparling ICE drinks, 0 everything even sodium...does have splenda in them.6

@parkerpowerlift @GroverBlue78 @orangequilt nice work this week!
@Terytha I also sing songs through planks. So much better than a timer! :-)
@sharpdust Nice work with the hike. Good luck getting through the end of semester!
@bluffgirl67 That's good news about your mom. And so much can be done with free weights! Incline push-ups would work, but so would tricep extensions and kickbacks. I found this: https://www.self.com/gallery/a-15-minute-dumbbell-arms-workout-you-can-do-anywhere It might help.
@torihudson6 feel better soon! and don't you just love being surprised by a weight loss? Hooray!
@shorepine Good work getting a little exercise in! I'm sure you'll be back to the healthier eating in no time.
@deesibecoool Welcome! and I think you've received some great advice already. Learning to distract yourself from the craving is something we all have to do. That first month will definitely be the worst, but it will get easier.
@cory17 I also have been trying to get rid of excess goodies in the house/office. It's the worst around this season
@lindaporter2018 I've been enjoying your updates! I'm glad you, your hubby, and your car are all onboard with the plan! :-)
@imbatmilf welcome! I also am working off the weight after a big gain. Starting over seems harder sometimes, but talking in the group helps.
@lindamtuck2018 Sounds like you have a solid plan to move forward despite these small setbacks this week. Nice work keeping your focus!
@bdbjswbrb There is yummy stuff everywhere this time of year! Nice work sticking with your plan.
@mmccloy12 Nice progress this week. And it's great that the book can help you think about habits and using new approaches to change.
So far this week is looking good. Since my work party on Monday, I have kept to my calorie counts, even coming under by 100 or so calories on some days. I'm still having an occasional cookie or holiday treat at work, but I'm logging it all to make sure I stay on track. Workouts have been regular. I'm planning another home workout tomorrow morning.
The real test will be this weekend. Starting this afternoon, my house will be a Christmas cookie baking factory. I took over that role in my husband's family when my in-laws moved to Tennessee. Now it's my job to make sure everyone gets their "dogbone" fix. I need to not lick bowls, not eat all the broken cookies, and have some self control before I package up all the cookies for everyone. I may have to check in some point this weekend on the thread with a "Heeeeelp me" post.7 -
Read this today and resonated with me...this is exactly what I was trying to say earlier
"IF I am able to really put myself in the mindset of: I’m doing this to be healthy, then there’s really no way to justify fasting or starving myself before or after big events. It doesn’t feel healthy. It doesn’t feel good. It clouds my mind and heightens my anxiety. "10 -
@mmcloy12 THIS! IS! SO! TRUE!!3

Ugh, cramps. This morning was the most pathetic workout I've ever done, but it feels like my stomach is full of barbed wire and it's hard to summon any strength.
I'm gonna rest for a bit, take a painkiller, eat a pickle and then go play in the virtual world. Then, when I have moved enough to satisfy myself, I will BAKE.
Nanaimo bars time!
Then I meet a friend for pizza and gift exchange, and then at 11pm we have tickets to Star Wars.
I'm officially on holiday now, which means I'm officially on maintenance calories until the new year. It's been 9 months since I started my diet and so this is a good time to take a break, enjoy some egg nog, and give my metabolism a boost. It's scary though.
I'll end the year at 205, and since I started it at around 280, that's pretty darn good. This little pause is just fine. It doesn't mean I'm giving up or relapsing into old eating habits. I'm still logging everything. Its gonna be OK. So I tell myself.13 -
ok i'm joining.... I need support losing a few pounds to make it to the HUNDREDS - 2020 goals!! meal/calorie accountability - nutritional meals - less empty calories, more movement/exercise/toning and most importantly -->purposely planned self care/confidence building actions/events.12

@bluffgirl67 So happy for you and your family getting good news from the doctor
@torihudson6 Way to meet your goal!
@lindamtuck2018 Thats great that they decreased your meds! Very happy for you
@bdbjswbrb I hear you about the office goodies! I am really looking forward to the holidays being over so things can back to normal
@mmccloy12 You are killing it, keep it up!
I've hiked everyday this week and am up to 42 hikes completed! 10 more to go Looks like some of those will be in the rain because its raining next week, but they will get done. It was mid-November when I was doubting whether or not I could finish all 52 before 2020. I've been posting my hikes in Instagram so my friends have seen my progress. While out to lunch a friend asked about it and I was like theres no way I'm gonna get them done and they were like who not? That motivated me and I am so happy they believed in me more than I did.
Still have not gotten on the scale so no weight update but my mentality is so much better than last week, thats a NSV11 -
@sharpdust that is definitely a NSV, I'm happy to hear you're feeling better! You'll get on the scale when you feel ready. Also, you can totally finish the hikes! We all can't wait to hear about it.3
-
@Terytha wow 75 lb in a year! Way to go! That’s roughly 6.25 lb a week so just about where they say you should be (maybe a little more or less depending on where you started). My goal is 1 lb a week which is 4 lb a month, which makes 48 lb a year so you’re way ahead of that! Go you!5
-
I'm all in! I have 1 pound to lose before I'm at 199 - would love to get to my prepregnancy weight of 165 and then hopefully 155 with more muscle mass!8

@deesibecoool Welcome! You have found a great group of ladies in this thread! So much support and inspiration here! Cravings are tricky. I have learned for me that denying myself or saying something is off limits is the fastest way to start a binge. If I want a cheeseburger and fries. I will get a small or child size portion. Log it and move on. Or if I feel like I want to splurge on a certain food I make sure to eat lighter meals before and after and try to get some extra activity in to allow for it. Usually that keeps me within my daily calorie allowance. Good or bad, I log it. Accountability is what helps me keep things in perspective. Life's not perfect and we shouldn't expect ourselves to be either!
@mmccloy12 , I love the saying this is a marathon not a sprint!! I think you are doing amazing!
@Terytha You have done amazing! 75lbs in a year is something to definitely be proud of. Enjoy your break! It is well deserved!
@bluffgirl67 You are still rocking it with the exercise! I am glad to hear about the good news on mom!!
@torihudson6 Way to hit your December goals!!
@aliciap0116 Your pictures are awesome!
@lindaporter2018 I also started at 288lbs back at the end of March beginning of April this year. When I started I didn't think my goal was achievable. But day by day, week by week it gets closer. I think having your daughter with you is the best reason to allow yourself extra calories! I love it that you all are going to hit the gym together!! That's awesome! Enjoy your time together!!
@imbatmilf Welcome! I browsed MFP for a long time before feeling comfortable enough to post or join a thread. I think you will find everyone in this thread supportive and friendly. I find coming here on helps inspire me. I hope you find this to be true as well!!
@sharpdust You are killing it with your hiking!!
Happy Friday everyone! I hope you all have a great weekend!!9 -
@Aerohead21 I think that’s 6.25 pounds a month (as opposed to 6.25 pounds a week). That’s 1.5 pounds a week which is awesome @Terytha !7

I went out for pizza with my best friend tonight. We've been close since high school. She was my maid of honor. The closest thing to a sister I've ever had.
She's swiftly becoming wider than she is tall. She wheezes when she walks. Her blood pressure is really high and she gets sick a lot. It's hard to watch. I say nothing because what could I say? She knows already. Her problem is mental not ignorance. But it's scary to see her slowly self destruct, and to remember and realize how I was in that exact same boat a year ago. It makes me sad, for her now and me then, both of us feeling hopeless and resigned, unworthy.
We're all worthy. There's always hope.14 -
Hi everyone. I would like to leave 19 stone in 2019 and see the New Year in the 18s.
My start weight was 20st 4lbs (284lbs). I am currently 19st 10lbs (276lbs).
My goal is to see 18st 13lbs on December 31st!
3 simple goals to get me started:
Track all meals
Drink 6 glasses of water
Walk 30 minutes a day
Good luck everyone - thanks for your support 😃
10 -
@Nads36 great goals. even just tracking changes what you eat i think. it does for me anyway. will be great to never see those 20s again!4

Greetings, peeps!
I'm slowly getting my life right and organized here in Korea. I just got a microwave yesterday and tomorrow someone is giving me a free toaster oven. Apart from that, I've only got two little burners in my apartment, so while I initially cooked chicken and veggies, I was just eating them cold and when that got old, I was just eating lots of carbs that didn't need any cooking or heating. (Reheating on the stove didn't appeal)
Today was the start of my winter break and I've got 12 whole days to explore and check out the area. (I've been here since Dec 2nd, but my job had me working 6 day weeks, so this is my first full weekend off!!!)
Hoping to find a local gym and maybe buy some weights for home. Then come up with an exercise plan I can follow once work starts up again.
Here's to everyone having a happy holiday!!!11 -
Welcome @Nads36 and @amygallihermfp glad you found us
@CLAWSMITH Hope you are feeling better soon. It's no fun being sick but esp at the holidays.
@lindamtuck2018 Great news on another med decrease and getting to come off of another. You are doing wonderful on taking control of your health.
@bdbjswbrb Way to enjoy the special goodies and still keep losing. Fitting it all in is what this path is about and you just rocked it.
@stefsc1 Glad you checked in. Don't put extra stress on yourself with goals that are really pushing it. Set them at just a bit of a stretch but completely doable while you feeling down/pressured. You have had a fantastic year and no reason you can't change strategy when needed.
@mmccloy12 Yay for dropping below 250!! Oh yes, tired of thinking about eating. But we have to eat forever and mindless eating is what got me here. Mindless eating will get me heavier and I don't want that. So yep gotta think about it always. As your quote says we are doing this to be healthy.
@VoicedJoy22 Thank you for the link.
@Terytha You've had a great year! Taking a pause will be fine and by logging everything you will see how the change affects you. Things like how much/how often can I break and still be doing fairly well. Enjoy the season.
@sharpdust Happy you are getting the hikes in and in a better place mentally in regards to the scales. If you are doing the work then you know things are going well. The scales are just one of the tools for tracking and use them in whatever way works for you.
@Candyn617 Couldn't agree more "Accountability is what helps me keep things in perspective. Life's not perfect and we shouldn't expect ourselves to be either!"
@RavenStCloud Happy to hear you are getting settled in. Having the toaster oven and microwave will make a big difference for you. Hard to imagine how back in the day and not so long ago we got along without those. We didn't get a microwave until my senior year in high school back in the 80's. Now I would so miss having one.
I'm feeling off today. Think a fibro flare is fast approaching. I got in 15m on elliptical and just couldn't push for another 5m. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Hello everyone!! Sick baby the past two days so I haven’t done nearly as much as I’d have liked but I’m still on track. I noticed I have been dehydrated so I’m adding more drinking to my to do list. It’s been hard with a clingy little baby. I have twins so it’s hard because it’s not like the other one is NOT needing my attention.6

Ugh! Gained weight this week. I was down to 218.5 on Wed, then up to 219 today. I've been eating too many carbs and haven't had dinner at home for the last 5 days, and haven't been drinking enough water - so no wonder. With Christmas coming, I'll be lucky to even lose 3 pounds this month.
Still, I did lose another 1/2 inch off my waist. So there is progress, even if it doesn't show up on the scale. It's just a difficult month with so many social events going on.9 -

Week 8 - 12/27/2019 - Merry Christmas
Had a great workout this morning, my best one yet in regards to getting that heart rate up and dripping sweat all over the place. I feel stronger each week. Has been a struggle with weight this week, but overall coming down gradually. Unless the scale gods shine very favorably upon me, not going to make revised target 2 month goal of 290 by the end of the month, but I'll be close!
Had my work holiday party tonight, today's calories are up and I am not feeling guilty about it. I worked hard this am. It's just one day. I still logged it to the best of my ability (painful, but accounted for). I have promptly scraped the leftover food I brought home into a bowl to feed to the chickens, minus things they shouldn't eat like chocolate and onions. They'll be feasting tomorrow. I'll eat the eggs, will be better for me, anyway.
Speaking of, the girls are laying like fiends right now. I've got a huge basket of the most lovely variably colored eggs you ever saw. Going to need to take more in to work / to the boys' teachers as the girls are overproducing our consumption right now. Happy chooks. They are a teensy bit spoiled.
I won't get my one-on-one with the trainer this next week as my days off are the trainer's days of (Xmas eve and Xmas), but I will be in the gym on Tuesday getting a workout in to keep up my promise to myself of a minimum of 3 gym workouts weekly. Don't wish to break my streak.
Currently working on:
1) Continuing to log accurately
2) Increasing my water consumption - Drinking two cups first thing after waking up, to start, trying to remember to get that water in on my work days, which is a struggle.
3) Continue my 3 scheduled weekly workouts at the gym minimum, trying to get up to 4 weekly.
I'm not good at the individual responding, but welcome new comers and congrats on everyone's progress. I wish you more joy than stress this holiday season! Hug your loved ones and know each and every one of you are beautiful.12
