Don't forget, Lisa, and to be a WOMAN.
I am a 70 year old woman. This surely must be the best time and place ever to be who I am.
We are home! We got home in record time - no hold ups at all. Both ways I sat behind my DH so I couldn't easily see the road and I played with my phone, or read my Kindle. At the difficult bit near Heathrow I got stuck into Duolingo. I was still afraid, but it was controllable. I downloaded some wonderful choral music from Amazon. I managed to find the Roy Goodman recording of Allegri's Miserere that is on my favourite Soul Music podcast, so I now have that for ever.
Nice visit, lovely hosts, but I'm glad to be home. Sleeping was not good, too much eating and drinking - again. I'm yearning to get back to normal. We are joining the family for lunch tomorrow at Marroccos, but I can have fish and there will be no alcohol. I will get my exercise in beforehand.
Having a nap this pm and will probably stay up for the fireworks and Big Ben. We have rib eye steak for dinner, with asparagus. Going to watch the recorded 2nd episode of a series about the Profumo scandal. The first episode was good.
Thinking about my word for 2020. Last year it was Embrace. I'm thinking, UNLEASH.
I need to be braver.

I have a long "to do" list for today and I have to be sure that getting the new thread for January ready is at the top of the list. "Work is the most dangerous form of procrastination." I have to be sure that I don't spend my day doing things that look important and not doing the one that has to be completed today.
Heather, I am frequently a nervous passenger in a car but I'd rather be the passenger than the driver. When riding in the car gets stressful, I close my eyes so I can't see what's going on and often fall asleep.
I think I've decided on my word for 2020 but will give myself a few more hours for possible inspiration and then announce it when I start the new thread for January 2020.

Meg Way to go, girl!…and there is a special place in heaven for you for taking on the task of cleaning your friends house. (((Hugs)))
Tina Maybe when you clunked your teeth it scrunched your hyoid bone, which would hurt & feel weird:
Yvonne I bought bacon in Costco yesterday & the clerk told me it was National Bacon Day & I thought of you. I love the interesting posts on such things.coastalgosgal wrote: »Athena is just fine. Its another cutie on here thats under the weather 😟🙏.
Barbie Thanks for the heads up about the Svalbard article, and Lisa thanks for posting the link. Fabulous and interesting. Well-written article.

I think people got confused. It was Olivia, not Athena, who had pneumonia. But she is better as of yesterday, Mom reports.

Update on Josephine the Ballerina : We aren't exactly sure why, but Josie is spending more time as an inpatient than was planned & her mom isn't communicating much about what is going on. We are going to gently try to find out (maybe contact the dad, who tends to stay on an even keel). If we find out anything I will post again to keep you updated, as I know several of you are interested in sweet Josephine's status.6

Meg: It is great to see you post. I am happy that you’re planning to stop by more often. :flowerforyou:
Allie: It appears you’ve been bitten by the travel bug!
Ginny OH: I’m sorry your grandson has been sick. Ear infections are a misery and both at once is so hard. I hope the medicine works well and quickly.
Machka: Happy New Year! Your photo is wonderful. You look elegant in the vintage style clothing.
Lisa: I love the Winston Churchill quotation. “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts.” I needed this today, and I’m adding it to my favorite quotations list.
Barbara: Yes, I’ve been scheduled for a visit with a specialist in January. It is worrisome and I’m not ready to talk about it yet. :noway:
Amber in TX: Congratulations on the smaller size clothing!!! It is proof that you are succeeding. :flowerforyou:
Happy New Year’s Eve day. Tomorrow we get the opportunity to follow Machka and greet the New Year.

Karen - Thank you for that! I think that must have been it, because that is exactly where it hurt for a bit.
Machka - Happy New Year! And to everyone else who is already there. We have 14 more hours as of writing.2 -
Happy New Year's Eve ! (New Year's Day in Machka's world )
So many interesting posts to read by you ladies, I'm still playing catch-up. Briefly:
Meg - Kickboxing!! You go, girl. That looks like fun. And just LET some thief try to snatch your purse! You can maybe give us some pointers?
Karen in VA - yes, please let us know if you hear anything about our little Josephine. How is Olivia?
Rebecca - hope you hear soon from DYS.
Tracey - sorry your DH (and you!) had to go through his medical stuff but it looks like the message is sticking. So frustrating to be forced to look away when our spouses or loved ones aren't caring for themselves and there's nothing we can do but hope someone catches them when they begin to fall. (((HUGS)))) Glad he and your DD stepped up to take care of Christmas!
Debby in VA - (((HUGS)))) to you. Spousal sabotage is not uncommon. Stick to doing what is healthy for you, and focus on small goals. You'll get there.I finally got my DH to admit he didn't want me slimming down because he was afraid I'd get snatched up by some other dude. I still get furious thinking about it - mainly because I'm NOT so needy that I am looking for another man to come into my life and interrupt my schedule, leave messes for me to clean up, have me worry about his spending/money, his relatives dropping in unannounced, etc. etc. I could hire a handyman to do the chores/fix it stuff and NOT have to fix him supper, do his laundry, listen to him snore, smell his f*rts, lol. WOW I am on a roll here, better stop. DH is wondering why I'm giggling!
OK back to business. This past few weeks I've made some progress with 14:10 IF Intermittent Fasting and cutting way back on sugary snacks/chips, eating a lot more veggies of all types, and getting back into walking more and resuming SWSY.
(I will interject here that many of you on here are doing fine with CICO, Keto, and other eating plans. You have my admiration and if it works, don't fix it!!! This IF might not be for you. Mary and Beth piqued my curiosity with their 19:5 IF success and I'd done well in 2018 utilizing the 5:2 FAST diet - 5 days normal eating, 2 days vastly reduced calories per week. So I decided to look at it again.)
Happy to report I'm down nearly 4 pounds (a lot of it water weight, I'm sure) but more importantly, my Fasting Blood Sugar is now down to 94. The norm used to be 105. My blood pressure is back into the 120's/80's. So inflammation is getting better. Overall goal is to lose about 5 more pounds and especially for my favorite jeans to loosen up, lol.
I found a lot of inspiration from re-reading research by many of the scientists in Michael Mosley's Youtube presentation "Eat, Fast and Live Longer" (thanks again Heather for sharing this way back when!).
And I've run across a new author, Gin Stephens, who has written a book on IF called "Delay, Don't Deny". (I have it on order from Amazon, should be here Friday) She has a neat blog page and I thought this one was very timely, especially her link to the article in the New England Journal of Medicine: http://www.ginstephens.com/all-blog-posts/your-2020-resolution-join-the-intermittent-fasting-health-revolution?fbclid=IwAR1n9i8Nfy2lTF4PuWKVLsuOUROacVc6vq_ZbVfru3lwjPdE00VQ0OnvnaY
She also has a very active Facebook Group. Delay, Don't Deny: Intermittent Fasting Support. Many of the folks on it are young women with a lot to lose, but there are some older ones as well just trying to regain health.
Anyhow, working on my Health Strategy Simple and Sustainable. More on this later.
Make it a wonderful day, ladies. Roaring 20's ahead. Fasten your seatbelts.

Happy New Year ladies!! I have been thinking of what my word for the year will be. The word that comes to mind is Metamorphosis. Major change. A transformation. Yes, that will be my word, because it has the word ME in it.💖
💖Rebecca3 -
Lanette LOL!!! A friend from post-graduate school once shared her fantasy with me…she wanted to form a women-only gated community. After being thoroughly vetted, male applicants would be bussed in each day to do any tasks/chores the women didn't want to do. Also to have sex when desired. The men would all have to be on the bus & gone by sundown so the women could, if they wished, meet for cocktails/mocktails, dinner, and evening entertainment. No f@rting allowed.
