@zrrooo You are correct. The sticks measure “wasted” Ketones. By the time I got around to buying them I had been following the WOE for a couple of months and was most likely fat adapted so they never changed color. I finally bit the bullet and bought a meter which I used sporadically at first but after reading several articles I started using it every morning. Then a couple of months (and more articles later) I also got the glucose sticks, my meter does both. I’ve been using both daily and find it interesting how my GKI changes daily. It is pricey but the information I glean from it is invaluable. The website I use (Best Ketone Test) has bundle deals. Even using the meter intermittently was a big help to me. I think I’m worth it.5

01/01 398.8 – Fresh start and never giving up! I am thinking about starting WW again. I just don’t think so. I just think I am going to stick with MFP and my therapist every 2 weeks for now. And really make my health a priority now. Why is this so hard? Why?! Just venting. If any of you have any thoughts on WW positive or negative, please share privately or here. I am a realist, so I do not take any offense just looking for honest feedback and personal experiences whether yours or family and friends. Thanks.
01/02 396.8 (-2.0) – Yesterday was a lazy day. I only ate 2 meals, and both were light and good. No walking. I did some chores around the house. Reflected on my spiritual, health, and financial goals – in that order. Now to put something in writing for spiritual and health goals. Have a great day!
01/03 396.2 (-0.6) – I got in my 6500-step goal and was under calories yesterday. I am not getting the 11:30 bedtime goal so far.
01/04 393.4 (-2.8) – Round goal reached! I guess it was too low, but I wanted to be realistic. I was a little over my calories yesterday and I got in my step goal and a few slow fast walks. I am making sure I log everything. I am going to the movies today. I am taking my own snacks with me. I am eating before and if my friend wants to go for a bite, I am good with movie only. I will decline because I going to visit my Dad. It is really helping me to stop and take a few minutes to read some of the posts here. I will never catch up, but thank you all for being here. It helps! I remember things I stopped doing. Like pre-logging. I used to do that in the mornings. It helps even if I don’t stick to it. I am going to go back to it. Have a great weekend!! :flowerforyou:
01/05 395.4 (+2.0)
01/06 395.2 (-0.2) – The good thing about this weekend is I maintained my round goal! I will continue to work on the weekend bumps. It will never be perfect for sure, but again my goal is 80/20. Consistency not perfection. I did not get in any intentional exercising. But moving on to a new week and new round soon! Hopefully I can go back down a little today to have a 4-pound loss this round. I plan to get in some short walks and drink a lot of water. Have a great day! :flowerforyou:
01/07 394.4 (-0.8) – I got in my steps yesterday. Very happy with my loss this round and ready for the next one. I am going to keep my goals low and reasonable with the average of 2 pounds per week in mind. Have a great day!
Total change this round: (-4.4) (SW 398.8 GW 396 EW 394.4)*One of my major goals is to get my BMI under 40 so I can have surgery on my knees *
My journey … "I May Not Be Where I Want To Be, but I’m Not Where I Use To Be!"In 2003 Weighed over 600 lbs.My highest weight was 611 in 2003. Weight in 2004 before weight loss surgery was 580. Lowest weight after surgery was 302 in 2007. "I May Not Be Where I Want To Be, but I’m Not Where I Use To Be!"
In 2005 Weighed under 400 lbs.
In 2007 lowest weight after surgery 302lbs
I joined MFP on March 27, 2010 weighing in at 388 pounds. I was re-gaining weight and stumbled up on it while trying to get back on track. I was determined never to see 400+ on that scale again for me.
I have been morbidly obese all my life. I have a lifetime of mental and physical scars from obesity. In October 2004 I had Gastric Bypass surgery. WLS (Weight Loss Surgery) was the best gift that I could and did give to myself.
Between 2008 and 2010 I gradually gained back 80 of almost 300 pounds lost initially after weight loss surgery. I never reached my goal weight of 200 pounds. I still managed to keep off over 65 percent of the weight I lost which is very good and I am very proud of my accomplishments since 2004. It has literally changed my life for the better on all levels. I am here to lose re-gained weight and to reach my initial goal weight. I am in no hurry. I am taking this one day at a time and I am in it for the long haul.
Surgery did not fix the head. It is a good tool and the best gift I have given to myself, but it was not the easy way out as many people think. Once the honeymoon period is over after the WLS it is up to the patient to keep the weight off.
On August 29, 2011-- I was admitted to Intensive Out Patient Eating Disorder Program to learn how to manage my binge eating disorder effectively. The program is wonderful indeed and will be instrumental in me reaching all of my goals. The focus of this program was how to eat and not diet. Weight loss was not a goal of the program. I actually gained 20 pounds in program. But I had to get thru a lot of stuff and my the time I was released I had stopped gaining. I was discharged from program on December 3, 2011.
My tool is still working for me today. My head is still the issue. SO the struggle continues. I will never beat myself up again. I fight the fine fight faithfully and positively everyday. Because that is what will get me to my goals one day. Even though it may not show up on the scale every day -- Everyday I make progress one way or another just by showing up, waking up and trying.
Giving up is not an option for me. Perseverance, Patience, & Positive thinking will help me reach my goals…… and the same is true for you too!! We have the power within us.

ust seen this thread and it looks awesome- great to keep me accountable- hopefully. Been on MFP for ages, well always had it in the background. 2019 not been a good year weight wise, I’ve put on a shocking amount of weight after otherwise being a healthy (ish) weight for years. Anyway here goes....
Start Weight- 218.8lb
End of 10 day goal- 214lb
Ultimate Goal Weight- 175lb
Day/Weight/Comment
12/29 218.8lb
12/30 217.2lb 😀 (A good start)
12/31 217.0lb Had a very good ‘leg’ session at the gym yesterday and I’m feeling it this morning in my quads and calves. Back to it today, bench pressing and some HiiT on the stepper planner before the New Years Eve festivities. Takeaway has been suggested by family, so I’m going to let myself have it, but make sure it fits within my calorie goal for the day. Oh and 3 weeks into being alcohol free- taking my own AF beer!!
01/01- 219lb Good session at the gym yesterday and thankfully the gym’s open again today. Had a takeaway last night and probably indulged too much in nibbles etc. Stuck to non-alcoholic beer which is a win. I think the salt from the curry and nuts etc are causing this weight retention today. Stuck within my calories- just, yesterday so hopefully this will come off in the next day or so. Plenty of water today and easy on the carbs....
01/02- 216.8lb Stuck to my intentions yesterday. Made a lovely sweet potato and black bean chilli which made several portions 👍🏻. Another gym session today followed by an hour of football training, so plenty of cardio today. Going to have another day of watching carbs closely and drinking loads of fluid in order to flush out any remaining water weight from New Years.
01/03- 216.2 (Moving in the right direction)
Skipped the cardio aspect of the gym yesterday as my legs were in pieces after heavy squats and various isolation exercises. Felt like I could eat everything in sight yesterday- chose healthy (ish) snacks to eat rather than the masses of chocolate my misses has in the cupboard! Plan today is to do a chest session at the gym and stick to my food entered in my diary (I always log the day before).
01/04 216.6lb Not a massive change from yesterday so not bothered by the slight increase. Been much more active today, 5 hours of football coaching followed by an hour at the gym. Did some interval stuff on the elliptical after some deadlifts, strict pressure and other back exercises. Salmon and spinach curry for tea. Would like to reevaluate my 10 day goal to 215lb. Probably a bit optimistic with the original goal- especially with my body getting used to this new workout regime.
01/05 216.6 Same as yesterday, I know I’m not drinking anywhere near the amount of water that my body needs. I just can’t seem to get used to drinking so much of it. Always drink 1l at the gym, then probably only another 500ml in the day. Going to the gym (11th day running) for a leg session, always love the sessions as my legs are too sore to attempt cardio 😀😀😀.
01/06- 216.2 At least it’s on its way down! Back to work today so should be a bit kore active in addition to my gym session tonight.
Not going to bother with the staff room today- too many sweet and savoury treats will be brought in from Christmas; stay in my room and resist! Plus I can’t do with everybody having the same conversation 30 times!!!! Hope to get under the 216 mark for the 10 day mark, which will take me to 3lb lost for the 10 days which I’m pleased with.
01/07- 217.2😫 Well 215 was not to be. Not sure what would be causing this small spike in weight? Could be water retention from the gym- but, never mind. Onwards and upwards to the next 10 days. Overall I’ve lost 1.6lb which is much better than nothing.
Aim today is to drink lots of water and go to the gym after football coaching tonight.

12/29 127.8
One of the things I love about being in this group is the way it requires me to track weight daily, giving me a broader sense of the ups and downs that are a natural part of weight loss. If I look at the stats from last round, it appears that I gained 2.6 pounds.
Round 99 SW 125.8 EW 127.8 (+2.6)
It was Christmas, it's okay. But. If I look at my ending weight for the previous round-Round 98- I see that it's pretty much the same as the end of 99 (127.2 vs 127.6). The truth is, I was 125.8 for only one day, and it skewed my beginning/ending stats for Round 99.
In other words, I've totally been maintaining at ~127 for weeks! During the holidays! Yay! Don't forget to look back and learn from previous rounds, guys. You may be doing better than you think!
12/30 126.6
New Year's Eve and the 1st will bring some parties, so I'm thinking this will bounce right back up again.

01/01 TRAVEL, NO SCALE
01/02 TRAVEL, NO SCALE
01/03 130 (end of day weigh-in) Expecting to bounce up even more after all the vacation food and sitting, but back to my routine tomorrow. By the end of the week, I'll be in the 127-128 range again, I hope. What a lovely holiday season it was! No regrets.
01/04 DNW
01/05 DNW
01/06 126.4 Woohoo!
01/07 127.8 Feeling REALLY good about this! I made it through the holidays! I was creeping into the high 150s at this time last year- wow, I feel so different. With the holiday-imposed changes to schedule and increased travel, I haven't been 100% at checking in daily, but just knowing you're all out there doing this with me makes me feel more committed. For the newbies, this works! Keep at it!

@cpanus I’m in the same shrinking boat. I was 5’1” in high school, back surgery for scoliosis brought me up to 5’2” in 1982, now at almost 70, I am 5’. I worry about shrinking because my mom’s osteoporosis, scoliosis, kyphosis and lordosis resulted in her shrinking close to 12” and with rods in my back, crumbling bones are a big concern.6

12/28 …..194.0….. ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND
12/29 …..190.4 ….. Yesterday’s stats: 1156 Calories In / 2432 Calories Out. 12 Net Carbs. 12,362 Total Steps & 5.23 Total Miles. 12/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 6 hours & 14 minutes. I walked at about 3.0 mph for 18 minutes burning 90 calories. It’s a start! Good luck everyone on the monumental 100th round!
12/30 …..190.4 ….. Yesterday’s stats: 998 Calories In / 2236 Calories out. 58 Net Carbs. 8497 Steps & 3.6 Total Miles. 11/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept for 6 hours & 21 minutes. Getting over 5 hours of sleep per night has been a nice trend throughout the last couple of weeks.
12/31 …..191.2 ….. 1710 Calories In / 2520 Calories Out. 61 Net Carbs. 13,108 Total Steps & 5.51 Total Miles. 13/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 6 hours & 19 minutes. I danced for 35 minutes burning 212 calories. [color-=crimson]Sample song – “Going Timber” by Pit Bull.
01/01 …..189.2 ….. Happy New Year Everyone! Posting late due to starting what will be an incredible amount of paperwork for my business. Quarterly sales tax, Annual Sales tax for 2019 and 2019 Income Taxes. Yesterday was a good day. A little low on calories and a little high on carbs due to spaghetti squash recipe I tried. 675 Calories In / 2634 Calories Out. 30 Net Carbs. 16,099 Total Steps & 6.81 Total Miles. 13/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 4 hours & 17 minutes. I walked in the school for 114 minutes at about 3.0 mph burning 634 calories
01/02 …..188.2 ….. Yesterday’s stats: 1145 Calories In / 2752 Calories Out. 60 Net Carbs due to one teeny tiny slice of frozen pizza (from son) when I missed dinner (very long phone call from far-away cousin). 17,628 Total Steps & 7.46 Total Miles. 13/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 4 hours & 30 minutes. I walked twice yesterday. Once for 61 minutes at 2.75 mph burning 276 calories. Once for 30 minutes at 4.25 mph burning 245 calories. Total extra calorie burn 521. I need to be more serious about my water intake.
01/03 …..190.0 ….. Gain is due to a fast & furious eating frenzy after a severe drop in my blood glucose. Blind & frenzied eating which is unfortunate because I know better, but it is the “save myself” instinctive thing to do. Clearly my calories were too low the last couple of days but I was never hungry (intuitive eating?). I’ve got to try to keep my meals steady. I was sick all night. To try to regain my strength today I am going to skip my walk at the school and focus on small but steady activity at home. Over calorie and over carb yesterday. I burned an extra 670 calories walking 119 minutes at 4.25 mph before I became so sick. Taking it easy today.
01/04 …..190.0 …..
01/05 …..192.4 ….. Brought in a crew of family, friends and locals (previous guests) to help take down all the Christmas trees and decorations from my home and business. They did most of the heavy lifting and transporting to on-site storage. I spent most of the day wrapping, wrapping, wrapping all the glass pieces. I fed the Army and ate also which consisted of way too many carbs (and calories too, I’m sure!). Today is standard Sunday check-out cabin cleaning, and working on putting back all my normal décor around the house & business office/check-in station. I hope to burn some major calories and get in a good amount of steps. I’m thinking today should be an egg or beef & butter fast for a least 24 hours to kick-start my good intentions. I must stop what I’m doing from time to time and DRINK MY WATER! Thanks to “lily lady 3k” for this: " Don’t let unstructured time become unstructured eating. - Beck " I think that Mantra will help me today!
01/06 …..191.8 ….. That’s better! An okay day yesterday. Calories were within my limits but carbs were over due to crummy choices. Good activity level for a Sunday. Water intake better but too much too close to bed. Travel is likely on Wednesday, so I dread spending the entire next round trying to shake the damage. I’ll try to keep that in mind when reading the menu.
01/07 …..190.6 ….. Lost 3.4 pounds this round of pure Christmas gain! I worked hard yesterday to try to achieve another large drop. Yesterday’s stats: 1152 Calories In / 3070 Calories Out. 15 Net Carbs. 26,306 Total Steps & 11.12 Total Miles. 13/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 5 hours & 24 minutes. For exercise I walked 80 minutes briskly (over 4.0 mph) for a burn of 776. I walked 35 minutes at 4.0 burning 255 calories. I rigorously cleaned a cabin for 22 minutes burning 100 and I did low impact aerobics for 33 minutes burning 234 calories. Total extra calorie burn 1385. I enjoyed reading everyone’s NSV’s and successes after the holidays. So inspiring…. I will see you all next round!

29: 197.2
30: 197.5 I installed laminate flooring in my daughter's room yesterday, and I'm kind of sore today. Probably just water weight.
31: 197.5 🥚 More flooring installation yesterday. Still sore. Plus ovulating window. Going out for a nice dinner with my family tonight for New Year's. Reservations are at 4:30 because it's all they had left within my eating window. So, probably will be over calories, but it's an early last meal for me which means longer fasting. May be up a little tomorrow, but I'm not gonna worry about it.

1: 197.9 🥚 Not too bad considering that I indulged last night. Prime rib, parmesan au gratin potatoes, a glass of Pinot noir, and chocolate lava cake. I ended my eating window at 6 instead of 7 and didn't break fast until about 12:30 today. I'm excited to see what the next drop looks like.

4: 196.0 🥚 There's the expected drop. I'm really enjoying being able to predict these patterns that we learn about ourselves when we weigh daily. This is a new low for me. I think the last time I saw this weight was when I was gaining weight while I was pregnant with my son who turned 15 last month.
5: 196.5 Over calories yesterday because I only had whole milk instead of my coconut milk for my protein shake. Interestingly, my overage was almost exactly the calorie difference.
6: 196.4
7: 195.7 Just shy on my 2 pound goal, but I'm happy with this. Didn't exercise, so I need to work on that. Adjusting that goal to once per round.
There's no such thing as failure; only feedback.9 -

Round 100 - Dec. 29 - Jan.7
Glad to be back after a couple of weeks of shingles – so thankful that it has been a very mild case. Round 100 … 1,000 days for some people … plus a new year … a new decade and to top it all off – I finally have my computer cleaned and set up in my new home office!
Female, 5’, 66 years. SW – 165, GW – 164 something, UGW – 140. (This really should be 125 or 130 but that seems like such a long ways to go and 140 would be a huge improvement.)
Goals – finish calorie log each day, 30 min. of movement every day, only yogurt or fruit in the evening and nothing after 9 p.m. I may go to the gym (or not) depending how I feel toward the end.
Day/Weight/Comment
12/29
12/30
12/31 – 165 – I was up higher than this but think if might have been the anti-viral meds I was on. Guess we will see over the next few days.
01/01 – 165.8 – Ham last night, at least I’m hoping it’s water. Planning ham soup for today but will try to keep the salt down. Other goal is to actually track everything instead of guesstimating.
01/02 – 166.6 – I weighed but MFP wouldn’t load for me in the morning and then totally forgot.
01/03 – 166 – After yesterday’s scary number – ham soup was great but too much salt I’m guessing – it’s good to be down a bit. This is shaping up to be quite the year. Oldest grandson gets married in April, babysitting 6 grandkids (one of whom is special needs) in May, and hoping to have our house on the market beginning of June. I think it was the prospect of the last that brought on the shingles. So I’m taking it slow but steady. January I’m painting doors (15) and going through papers & books. Some people love being busy but I tend to panic and eat. So now I’ve mapped out a plan, I’m just focusing doing that and eating right, of course.
01/04 – 166 – LNS a few graham crackers and goji berries. Need to stay away from the computer after 8. Finished first 2 doors.
01/05
01/06 – 166.2 – Did not track yesterday but also kept to an apple for LNS. Went to bed at a decent hour and made a reasonable list for today to get back on track.
01/07 – 166.4 – I’m guessing this is an up from grazing on Sunday. Not a perfect day yesterday but did track all and was only 159 c. over. Feel like I’m getting back to normal so hoping the next round to see a drop. See you all there.8 -

NEVER GIVE UP! You can surprise yourself! I have.
What we need to succeed is a sustainable way of eating, not a DIET we go on and off.
This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE.

12/29 122.5 No explanation for this bump unless it was the small bit of baked white potato at lunch yesterday or the little bit of dark chocolate (no sugar) from the night before. May not have had enough water. Low calorie, great macro day so not worried. Woke up at 3:30-the cat was crowding me off the bed.
12/30 122.5 Cat woke me at 5, I was super tired so put him in his crate and went back to sleep. (He loves his crate and frequently goes in there to nap) Woke when the alarm went off at 7, got dressed and went to have labs drawn. You all know I’m really NOT a morning person. Going to a friend’s house to sew today so haven’t read all posts but I’m at the top of page 4.
12/31 122.0 I just ate a hearty breakfast - mostly. I’m not a breakfast person but hadn’t eaten since lunch yesterday and was getting the shakes. I had a fried egg with 2 extra yolks and a piece of leftover steak AND a Thomas’ English muffin. DH bought those to have the 2 days we were on the pre-cruise stay-cation. There was one left so I threw it in my bag and kept it refrigerated on the cruise and brought it back home. I grew up eating those and it had been calling to me since we got home 9 days ago. Now it’s gone. My carbs are going to be through the roof but it’s okay. This too shall pass. Looking forward to the beginning of the new decade A YEAR FROM NOW.
01/01 122.0 Today is round 2 of (only one pan) sticky buns, this one for our cruising pals. I may have to do a round 3 after our neighbor returns from Alaska.
01/02 121.5 I ate no sticky buns yesterday and as a consequence of that, fasted until after 5pm.
01/03 120.5 I again got kicked out and couldn’t get back to the message boards.ARRRGH! My “progress” showed up but my day count was 0. I get the following screen when I try to go to “community.” Tried again and it tells me my session has timed out! Of course I never actually got in but. . .
01/04 121.0 Today is the 49th birthday of our first born and she and her SO are taking their Westie to cross the rainbow bridge. I’m crying and sure they are too. Please say a prayer for mbabydoll and Andy.
01/05 121.5 Going to friends for dinner, will make that my OMAD.
01/06 123.0 Up too early, late for us dinner last night (best steak EVER!) and sautéed cauliflower with garlic and cheese, no TMI. Semiannual doctor appointment today.
01/07 121.0 I have shrunk another inch and am now 5’0”. I was pronounced good to go for another 6 months. My LDL continues to drop - YAY! Slight adjustment in my BP meds. And finally some bathroom success! On to round 101!

1/1: 132.8 - happy new year!
1/2: 132.6 - still on task and feeling motivated. Went to the gym this morning and added some more exercises. Back and biceps today. Thinking about adding a couple more days of weight lifting, I'm really liking it.
1/3: 132.2 - woot! Nice to see the hard work paying off on the scale. 45 minutes strength training yesterday, no pickle, still resting my arm. Planning to pickle tomorrow. I think my results are finally showing physically, I'm liking how my clothes are fitting.
1/4: 132.2 - pretty happy to still be seeing this number. We all get the ups and downs and I've been going just down, am expecting the back up to happen any day now. Wouldn't mind if this was my new "high number". Played 3 hours of pickleball in the sun today and loved it. Went for a 20 minute run yesterday, forced myself to do it. I made a commitment to do at least 20 minutes of exercise every day in January.
1/5: 132.4 - ate out last night and although I took half home, pretty sure it was full of salt. Tis ok, just a little blip. Resting today, I'm really sore from either the unexpected run or the 3 hours of pickle yesterday. Probably a little of both. Will clean around the house to get my 20 minutes of activity in.
1/6:131.8 - woot! Finally broke below 132, it's been a very long time. Made veggie stir fry last night. Ended up going on a 30 minute walk yesterday and got up and out early to go to the gym this morning. Back and biceps done. Now just need to keep my food in check today. Starting a sign language class at the university tonight, excited and nervous.
1/7: 132.0 - exactly at goal, pretty cool. Looking forward to the next round.9 -

Day/Weight/Comment
12/29--Back in town after 5 days. We had a great time. I weighed myself when I got home late this afternoon, just to get some idea of how much of a bump up there is on the scale after my snacking and lack of water drinking, and I was only up 3.6lbs. I will weigh in tomorrow morning at my regular weigh-in time to get a more accurate number.
12/30--208.1 Only up 2.5lbs after being out of town, I am happy about that. Strength coach today. Goal for today is to get my water in.
12/31--207.8 Yesterday's workout with my strength coach was really hard, it's surprising how quickly my workouts can suffer when I haven't worked out for a such a short time. I'm back at work today after being off for a week, so the regular schedule today should make it easier for me to get my water in today.
01/01--208.1 Didn't fully get back to normal eating as my husband wanted to go out for dinner and some drinks last night. I went to see my strength coach today and it was another tough workout. I told my coach that for me this year is the year of flexibility, so that is what I will work on this year. Also, by working on my flexibility, it will also help me with my weightlifting.
01/02--207.4 Tonight is my 1st day of a 30 day yoga YouTube program I'm going to do, in order to work on my flexibility.
01/03--206.3 Finished day 1 yesterday of my yoga program, and while at times it was difficult, I felt so good afterwards. I did not have a great sleep last night, but luckily I am off today, but I do have some appointments today. I'm supposed to go to the gym today...we'll see.
01/04--205.9 No gym yesterday, I had a major headache from my horrible sleep the night before. I took a nap later in the evening and it definitely helped, so I was able to finish day 2 of YWA. Plan is to go out for a run today, once the rain stops, and I want to clean the house, that includes taking down the Christmas tree.
01/05--205.6 Finished w7d3 of c25k yesterday. Between travelling and bad weather, I haven't run in 10 days, so I'm very proud with myself that I actually did go out and run. Later in the evening I finished day 3 of YWA. I also just realized that all of the "gain" from my holiday trip is gone. Strength coach today and, if the weather holds, hubby and I will take the dog out for a long trail walk. Later I will do day 4 of YWA.
01/06--206.1 Finished day 4 of YWA yesterday. My trainer changed up my workout as of yesterday as he starts my training for the Spartan race. As part of my year of flexibility I had signed up for an adult ballet class, and the first class is tonight...we'll see how that goes.
01/07--206.1 Ballet class was fun yesterday, and I definitely felt it in my legs. Finished day 5 of YWA yesterday.
R100 SW: 208.1 EW: 206.1 AW: 206.8 (+1.5) Success for this round is that I was able to quickly return to my normal eating routine after coming back from being out of town for the holidays .

Congrats Everyone on the 1st round of 2020!!
Research shows that people lose more weight if they have someone to check in with or be accountable to!
There were a lot of weight losses this round! YAY!! Congratulations, to all of us who are smaller/lighter than when we started this round! Way to go, to us who ran into a new decade!
Some of us gained and many of us lost! Some made it to, or surpassed, their round goal weight!! If you did not lose, no worries. This is not a perfect road. The key is never giving up and to keep fighting the fine fight until you reach your destination. Sometimes life throws us a curve ball or 2 but hang in there because life is what it is. You can still do this, one day at a time! I will see you in round 2!

69 years old female...5'5" ...I used to be 5'7" but arthritis hit and I lost two inches, so now that two inches is squished around my waist like the billows of a big accordion... ...Oh, well. I'll just keep working on it.
We used to walk 5 miles a day. A pinched nerve and back surgery side-lined me for about a year. Then I had back surgery. Now I'm waiting to get my hip fixed. Hip Doc said surgery in April. Ugh! I can't do any walking or biking...both kill me. I see my personal trainer three times a week. She is taking it very slow and easy with me.

12/29 - 195 womp womp, I got down to 189 by Thanksgiving, but then December just went straight to hell. I started going up without any diet changes to 192, and I felt bad about it and powerless so I decided to just give myself a diet vacation until the end of Christmas and now I'm up to 195. Not tooo mad about that because all the junk I ate for the past two weeks only brought me up 3 pounds, but still I'm feeling like it's time to get back on the wagon and stay there
12/30 - 194.2 hooray, going back down. Recommitted to keto and so far so good. I got a lot of exercise in this morning and did pretty well for my diet, but had more carbs than I should have at lunch. I'll try to do better tomorrow
12/31 - 194.2 no change! I'll take that as a win since I felt super bloated this morning and was expecting an increase. Stuck well to my diet and got lots of work done today. Didn't do any exercise but I plan on dancing a lot tonight, so will count that as my exercise. Will try my best not to indulge in any cheat foods and to limit myself to 2 drinks at NYE celebrations tonight. I'd like to start the new year and new decade out on a high note.
01/01 - 192.6! YAY! Down past my goal for the challenge so proud of myself for stinking to my diet goals even while partying last night. I had 2 glasses of wine and a bunless burger with salad. Still had a great time dancing the night away. Stuck to my diet pretty well today but did not resist my fiances' donuts and had about a quarter of one at least I stopped at a quarter.
01/02 - 191.6! I hope I can maintain this loss did much better at sticking to my diet today. First day back at work, struggled to focus due to some personal issues on my mind. will try to work harder at being focused tomorrow
01/03 - 191! Coming down which is great Starting to get a pretty sore throat, hoping this doesn't knock me out with a bad cold. Taking a ton of Vitamin C and trying to stick to my goals. Did a lot of exercise today
01/04 - 190.6! Throat is super sore now, definitely sick but psyched to see these losses! Hoping to maintain this through the end of the challenge
01/05 - 190.6! Still sick, hard to get anything done today, but I did stick to my diet goals and continued taking lots of Vitamin C. I have a ton of work to do this week, so hoping that keeping the weekend very light means I won't miss out on too much productivity this week
01/06 - 191.2! Little up but don't care because I'm still far from where I started. Still sick but got lots of research done today and stuck to my diet so counts as a win
01/07 - 190.4! Yay! Still sick but still making progress feeling motivated to hopefully break into the 180s next challenge
Total lost this challenge: 4.6 lbs!! Mostly water weight but all win8 -

01/02 – 174.0 – Back from a lovely few days with my kids and grandkids. I didn’t expect a drop over the holidays, but I’ve been fighting a nasty cold that’s suppressed my appetite, so I guess I shouldn’t really be surprised. Took a rest day and worked on staying hydrated.
01/03 – 172.0 – Slept in and woke up feeling a little dehydrated, so I’m sure this is a false low. Still congested, but otherwise feeling much better, so I got some chores done. Ate most of my calories today, but had too much salt. I’m sure it will take a few days of normal health and good habits to get my electrolytes back in balance.
01/04 – 173.0 – Easy day, although I managed to get a few things done before heading out for burgers and a movie with my husband. Skipped the fries, but candy at the movie put me over my calorie limit. Still managed a small deficit, but I guess my appetite’s back 😉
01/05 – 173.0 – Still a good bit down from where I started the round and a more realistic number than Friday’s low. I met my calorie goal today and even got out for a bit of a walk despite the wind. Now that my cold is largely behind me, I’m looking to get a lot done in the coming week.
01/06 – 172.8 – I had to push myself to get out today, but I really enjoyed walking in the park again once I got there. I was worried the cold air would trigger my lingering cough, but luckily it was a bit warmer and more humid today, so I wound up walking for twice the time I’d planned. On track again with logging and under my calorie limit.
01/07 – 172.0 – Woo hoo! Nice way to end the round and start a new year of building healthier habits.
Nice work everyone! See you in Round 101!

Female 66 5’7” started this Journey 5/22/2017 at 235 lb what a roller coaster it has been. On 9/17/2019 I started over at 190. I was headed back to what I was before.

182 lb. 7,064 steps. Under 1200 calories and under 20 net carbs.
1/02 2nd day: 182 lb. 5,577 steps. 856 calories and 17 Net Carbs.

1/05. 178lb. Ate 783 calories 15 Carbs. 2768 steps Need to walk more. Must have lost a lot of water weight. Still not in Ketosis but I know I’m on the right track. I’m measuring and weighing all my food to make sure I’m using the correct counts. I’m not eating much cheese I think that slows my progress down 🤔
1/06. 179.2 lb 1125 Calories 17 Carbs and 6,358 steps. On track for the week. Hope to walk more but my knee just won’t let me.
1/07. 179lb 1072 calories 13 carbs and 10,312 steps. Not sure I can walk this much everyday but I’m determined to lose weight!

Day/Weight/Comment
12/29: 217.2 (+0.4)/18.2 (+0.1). I had my first real meal in days last night, so this is not unexpected. That being said, my sickness feels like a bit of a reset, one that got me back into some good habits. I'm going to try to take advantage of the "opportunity" I've been "given" (nice way to phrase my horrible illness).
12/30: 218.8 (+1.6)/18.4 (+0.2). As always, I spoke too soon. I need to remember that the moment I'm feeling too good about my progress/work habits is the moment that I let myself slide a little. I could have said no last night, but after my reasonable dinner I had some leftover Caesar salad (wife went out to dinner) and a Cinnabon. There's plenty of blame to go around, but I am the only person that is responsible for me. I regretted both choices as they were happening, but not enough to make me stop/slow down. I'm going to think of this as a "blip," and I'm going to try to move on from it.
12/31: 218.6 (-0.2)/18.3 (-0.1). I was not hungry all day, and I barely ate anything. I had my wife's leftovers for dinner, but for some reason she felt it necessary to make a WHOLE OTHER MEAL that she expected me to partake in (she asked me to eat her leftovers). It was relatively healthy, at least, but I'm going to have to have a little talk with her about MY body and MY right to put (or not put) whatever I want into it... no matter what the circumstances are. I still have not been to the gym since I got really sick, and I probably won't get there until Friday.
1/1: 217.4 (-0.8)/18.2 (-0.1).
1/2: 216.6 (-0.8)/18.1 (-0.1). For those of you who don't know, I'm a psychologist, which doesn't make me any better at any of this than any of you! One thing that's important for me, especially when it comes to health/weight loss, is the idea of "setting my intention(s)." It's a bit like doing the whole New Year's resolution thing, but I like to try to carefully think through the things I need to do in order to reach my goal(s). This includes thinking about what's worked for me in the past (like coming to MFP and JGMTD), but it also includes really thinking about the different things that can potentially derail me. I'm not going to bore you with details, but I know that I have a tendency to relax a bit too much when I start to feel successful here; the minute I talk about how well things are going or how "easy" this is, chances are high that I'm going to slip up a bit. I try to remember to temper the extreme feelings I have (good and bad) because that works for me, and it can be a disaster when I don't do it. I'm going to recommit to the gym 3x/wk (starting tomorrow), knowing that it may take some time to get back where I was a month ago. I'm also going to work on communicating more effectively with my wife; I love her very much, but sometimes that message seems to get lost when we have discussions/arguments. Sorry for being a bit "all over the place." Happy New Year to you all!
1/3: 218.0 (+1.4)/18.3 (+0.2). Totally binged last night after dinner. I'm actually almost fasting today, just because I know how much I over-ate. The funny thing is that, as much as I know I binged, I also know that I ate WAY less in total (dinner plus the binge) than I would have 95% of the time before I was here. It turns out I'll be going to the gym tomorrow morning instead of tonight. I can't wait to get back to the gym!
1/4: 217.6 (-0.4)/18.2 (-0.1).
1/5: 217.0 (-0.6)/18.2 (0.0). I totally had a splurge for dinner, but I controlled myself portion-wise. I'm finally headed to the gym this morning. I still have a bit of a cough/PND, but I'm feeling much better. I'll let you know how it goes.
1/6: 219.4 (+2.4)/18.4 (+0.2).
1/7: 219.4 (0.0)/18.4 (0.0. Went out for dinner and drinks with my brother-in-law the night before last for his birthday. I'm definitely going to pay for this one.

Due to lack of access to my regular scale, my entries will be somewhat of a guess for this round. I will be weighing later in the day and wearing different clothes. I will miss some days too I suppose. It will mess with my averages, but it is what it is. I will just put an asterisk next to the number. Once back in the routine there will be a big correction in 2020. And, I will hit 199 sometime in 2020!
Getting close to the end of my break with reality.

Female 66 5’7” started this Journey 5/22/2017 at 235 lb what a roller coaster it has been. On 9/17/2019 I started over at 190. I was headed back to what I was before.

1/01 1day: goal to lose 3 lb in 10 days, walk 10,000 steps. Eat low carb.
182 lb. 7,064 steps. Under 1200 calories and under 20 net carbs.
1/02 2nd day: 182 lb. 5,577 steps. 856 calories and 17 Net Carbs.
1/03 Doing Keto Diet but I’m not in Ketosis. Hope to get there soon.
182 lb. 5588 steps. 942 calories and 14 Carbs.
1/04 182 lb ate 824 calories 14 Carbs and walked 3286 steps. Still not in Ketosis but my cravings are low so I know that part of Keto is working. Hopefully tomorrow I will start loosing some weight.
1/08. 178.4 lb 1,105 calories 13 Carbs and 3,456 steps. Slow day worked on end of year book work.

Using pee sticks. I started Keto May 2018 for a year. Last summer I stopped and the wait slowing started coming back. So for 10 days starting over. Tested positive today.

Back for Round 100
Female / Age 62 / 5'2"
OW: 158.5 (12/30/18)
UG: 135.0 (for now, healthy weight for me)
Thanks @GrandmaJackie for getting us started! I've been mia, but have been tracking and I'm jumping back in! I've been following along and keeping up with everyone, but not posting myself. Big congrats to everyone making it through the last few rounds. Whether you gained, stayed stable, or managed to move forward with a loss - that's a big accomplishment! This is an easy time of year to just throw your arms up in defeat - and you stayed the course!
A big welcome to all the newbies jumping in with your goals for the New Year! The first step is the hardest. Just remember, one baby step at a time - and don't tie your success (and self-worth) to a number. Small changes add up, and you've stumbled into an amazing group
Intro:Let me introduce myself. I struggled with my weight as a teen, topping out at nearly 200. I dropped it after high school and got to a healthy weight. Every major life changed has brought weight back on - having kids, pre-menopause, menopause, family tragedy, post menopause. I've knocked it back down each time, and have been surprised that each time required a different strategy, and resulted in a different type of lifestyle change to maintain. Each time as been much harder and slower. At this point, it's moving off at a snail's pace.
Motivation. I have a hyatial hernia. It does not bother me as long as I keep the weight at 150 or below. Every female on my mother's side has had arthritic knees, and I'm starting to feel twinges. They have also sustained falls and broken bones. My husband had a major health scare a coupe of years ago. The idea of being put out of commission by a preventable injury or illness scares the bejimminies out of me.
Goals. The goals at this stage are to drop weight to a healthy range, realign my eating style to a lifestyle that will keep me healthy into my golden years, and strengthen the muscles that support my knees, ankles, and shoulders, along with my core, to prevent injury.
Dropping weight post menopausal has been so difficult, I need this to be the last time. 10-15 pounds used to be easy to drop, so that was always my warning bell to focus. Not so much now. Looks like a 3-5 pound fluctuation will be it.
A healthy weight for me is 135-140. I've always looked anorexic at 120. We'll see how things are at 135, and go from there.

Strategy: Up the hydrating foods. Fruit with breakfast. Salad/veggies as bulk of lunch. Healthy dinner. Limit/eliminate processed carbs and sugars. Zero calorie intake after 8pm. Strength exercises 3 days on/1 day rest. Regular movement through day to compensate for desk job.
R99 Challenges: My challenges this round will be finding and getting back to a routine. Life has been quite unfair as we moved into the holidays. My son lost his mother in-law in childbirth on Christmas Eve. She was just 48, and left behind three granddaughters who are devastated and the baby was transferred to NICU 3 hours away. My daughter in-law has been with the baby (who is stable now), and we have been trying to help my son with the girls. Then my mother in-law was admitted on Thursday with complications from pneumonia and passed away on Sunday. That things have been stressful and chaotic, is an understatement.
I am proud of myself for being mindful of my emotional and physical self. It will take a concerted effort to stay the course as our family navigates the changes. I spent some quiet time this morning doing my meal planning. I've also looked at my Round Stats, and see that I stayed stable over the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays - that's huge!
R100 SW: 144.6
R100 GW: 143.6
12/29 (S) 145.3 (Trend Weight 144.6)
12/30 (M) 145.5 (Trend Weight 144.7) This is my one year mark for refocusing on my health, and how my eating and exercise plays into that! I am 13 pounds down and 10 pounds away from my UGW. Who'd have ever thought it would be this long and hard?! I am hoping that this is a sign that the loss is not only sustainable, but that the hard fought changes in my habits are becoming ingrained.
12/31 (T) 144.8 (Trend Weight 144.7) Not much to say here that I haven't already said. I am being mindful of my eating, but I need to refocus on fluid intake and exercise. Actually considering investing in a treadmill - this is the first time I have ever felt that I am disciplined enough to use it. I'm watching sales, and sneaking some time in to clear a space for it.
01/01 (W) 144.6 (Trend Weight 144.7) Fixed a Tex-Mex Chicken Soup in the crockpot. Healthy and easy, and should get a couple of days out of it. Son dropped the grandkids off so he could go pick his wife up. Will be a bit of schedule. Again. I have had some water already, though! I need coffee. Not going to be enough coffee in the world today. Lol
01/02 (T) 144.6 (Trend Weight 144.7) Steady. Better than a gain. Grandkids went home last night. We're still off schedule, and I'm still off routine but staying mindful of what I'm eating. I imagine this is going to be the norm until after the funerals. Mother in-law's is Monday. They haven't scheduled the one for my daughter in-law's mother yet (still waiting for autopsy). I've started cleaning and getting ready for influx of family. I have until midnight to decide whether to invest in treadmill (then the coupon expires).
01/03 (F) 144.6 (Trend Weight 144.7) lol 3 days of holding steady. I'll take it. I'm actually surprised I didn't bump up a little. First day in several without the grandkids. I feel asleep early and missed dinner then woke up hungry, so dinner was around 10pm. Late night eating generally reeks havoc with the scale. This was a nice surprise.
01/04 (S) 146.2 (Trend Weight 144.9) Yikes. That's partially the bump I expected yesterday from Thursday's late dinner, and part a comfort food binge yesterday. Need to get back on my plan. A couple of you mentioned Adrienne's 30 day yoga challenge. Sounds like a good way to ease back into exercise. Signed up this morning and watched her intro video and Day 0. Plan to do the Day 1 video this afternoon.
01/05 (S) 144.5 (Trend Weight 144.8) I think I need that bump yesterday to snap me to reality. A little surprised that it bounced back down so quickly. I'll take it and be cautiously optimistic that I can hold it. I was back on plan yesterday - ate at deficit, got the Day 1 yoga in, and hit my hydration goal. Onward
01/06 (M) 146.0 (Trend Weight 144.9) Almost have to laugh. Weigh-in is after coffee and earlier than normal. I seem to be having some trouble with my hip and yesterday was over on sodium. This bump is likely a combination of that, so not too worried. Got Day 2 in of yoga challenge yesterday. Not a huge calorie burn, but the stretches actually make my hip feel better. Today is mother in-law's funeral. Expect routine will be off.
01/07 (T) 144.5 (Trend Weight 144.9) I've been logging but not posting. Bouncing a bit. Being mindful of eating but slacking on real focus and it shows. Pretty level round
