@fitchick37 Great loss! Congrats on sticking with your no alcohol goal and getting all those steps in. I don't know anything about the switch game but lack of coordination I can relate too. I can't even do a vine thing right lol.
@BrownSugar174 Tablespoons are tricky little things even when using an actual measuring spoon. I try to find gram measurements in the database esp for high calorie things like peanut butter, olive oil, and mayo. I have a mister that I fill with olive oil and do a super light spray on a skillet for my morning spinach omelette. First time I put the skillet on my scale, zero out, and then misted. It didn't come to 1 gram which is about 10cal so I don't log it but I know it's there. My head has that, "it's so good" mantra sometimes too. Like today when I really wanted a few heaping Tbs of mayo in my tuna. I settled for 12g of mayo and a big ole splash of mustard. I don't like mustard much. Hubby will be excited and surprised with his present. You know there is going to extra room in the seat this time. I used to play tennis a couple of hrs a day. Now my arms don't cooperate so well and really miss it. I never been to a tourney though. That would be fun.
@cory17 Enjoy your new lunch walks. Not only a good way to get some exercise but also a wonderful stress reliever.
@MuttiNM Baby steps is wonderful advice. I think sometimes wanting the weight fast off leads to going whole hog in the beginning. Then the stress of all the changes is too much and bam back to old habits. You've been doing great and I'm you will be able to push through any stress that may come your way.
@KeriA Congrats on your loss. I'm glad you got a chance to drop in. This group really keeps me focused and tbh I don't know if I would still be going without y'all. The chili sounds yummy. If you don't mind could you send me or post share the recipe please. With your plans I'm sure you can lose the holiday pounds and more.
@sarahthepixie Welcome aboard. Sorry your mobility is limited at the moment. Exercise is great for retaining muscle and for allowing some extra room for calories but isn't required to lose weight. All you need to do is to stick with the mfp calorie guideline and you will lose weight. You can be rocking that bathing suit!
@Lasmartchika Shout out for Onederland!! Keep it up
@WynterDreaming Happy Birthday and congrats on a very nice loss! Exercising with your health problems may be a no go but don't let that discourage. Focus on what you can do to be successful like logging and working on making good choices. As the weight comes off you may have to shift from the 1.5 goal since it goes slower then. All that matter is losing regardless of the rate. You've obviously been doing well with calories so continue to consistent within your goal and it will drop off.
@curlyqchic Happy Birthday and welcome. You have a great plan for hitting your goals before the trip. Consistency is the key to hitting them. Say goodbye to fat pants and muffin tops.
@sharpdust Aw thank you...I'm so glad it helped.
@amkita Congrats on the loss. If you do step on the scales just keep thinking of the extra drop you will get once your period is over. Great work on the goals. I'm happy you are enjoying your spin classes.
@L2HS Of course you're welcome. You're already off to a banging loss this year. Taking care of your own health so you can be around for your kids is wonderful motivation. Since you lost quite a bit before you know it's in to do it again. Start with whatever may be easiest for you and slowly add in other things. Make habits to stick with for life. You can do it.
@MsDollyDimple Wow what a difference! Losing 140 is major accomplishment. I know the creep back up is frustrating but I know you are strong enough to lose back down. Are you following the same plan this time or trying something different?
@kali31337 Way to push through and complete 5k! That's determination right there.
@RavenStCloud So happy you are finally feeling a little better. Costco food court is soooo good and cheap! Splitting the bake and cooking veggies to round at the meal is a great idea. My favorite is the turkey pesto sandwich. I still get it when I go but take off the bun. Portion control is a hard one to stick with. When I logged tuna today the 6oz can is three servings. I'm like really!! Who splits tuna into thirds...not me for sure. I want to echo the thanks for starting the thread every month. I agree with @aliciap0116 that beginning a new check each month recharges my batteries. You've give us all a safe judgement free place to share, grow, and learn every month. Like I mentioned up there somewhere I honestly don't think I would still be doing well without your monthly threads.
@pamiede That is amazing!! You have made such progress in only a year. I love seeing the comparison pics for inspiration.
@vegasgirl0825 Hope you feeling better soon and isn't going to be something longer term and yucky. Sustainability is what I want too. That's why I set a lower goal. I knew if I went with the 2lb/week I would feel miserable and deprived. It will take me longer but I'm hoping to learn enough along the way to stick with the habits and information I acquire.
@aliciap0116 Aw thanks. Bookmarked the link but I like the part you mentioned about being harder on ourselves than we are others. That is so true. I know I'm always tougher with my head talk when I mess up and have a bad day. Learning to speak kindly to myself is something I struggle with daily. Too many head games from others when I was young plays havoc on my self worth talk. I also agree with you on the "why" we've decided to lose weight. Doing it for external validation and revenge might be a starting point but somewhere along the way it really needs to be for ourselves.
@damaddox7 Glad you jumped in. Wow 37lbs is a great loss. Looking at this as making a healthy lifestyle change will really help. Keep up the logging consistency and you will reach your goals.
@speyerj I think you give hope to quite a few of us. I know I'm always inspired by your goal commitments and consistency. Your success shows how important those two things are. Thanks for sharing the graph and showing us the ups and downs that may be (probably) our path to goal. Hip weight vest yep! I just know you are going to crush the 5k unless you were your new shoes lol. Your friend's streak is jaw dropping!! I want to be her too.
@mmdeveau Thanks. When I can take the time to really read and think about others successes, struggles etc then respond it somehow keeps me motivated and on course too. Your water intake is off the chart. With the amount of running you do though I'm sure less wouldn't be good for you though. I relate more to the "if you see me running you know I'm being chased so don't even ask just run." Committed runners like you have always interested me though esp those who do the cross country. The work and dedication that goes into the marathons is amazing to me. You and others deserve mad props for that. As for the week do your best to make smart choices, eat small amounta of the good stuff, log it and enjoy!
@lilann1961 Reading the threads is inspiring esp on my bad days. I'm a poster here (guess you noticed) but all the other threads I just lurk. Even taking the time to read can be helpful in so many ways. I'm happy you are getting back on track. We all get derailed it's the getting back on that's important. I totally get comparing yourself to others and am guilty of that all the time. In my group I'm usually the smart one and they are the pretty thin ones. I know in my head I'm the one making the comparison and they could care less but it is difficult to stop doing. I tell myself confidence doesn't come with being skinny it comes from within at any weight. Just gotta work on putting it into action.
@shorepine I'm proud of you for just owning it and logging. Hiding from the log isn't going to help but claiming the bad will. You've had a lot going on so getting off track is easy to do during those times. Enjoy those spin classes and kicking butt all the way to your Jan end goals.
@LovelyChaosLily Glad you are here. Share what you want when you want. Putting ourselves first is very hard. I'm a caregiver type to everyone but myself. Thing is we have to learn that by taking care of us we really are helping those we care for. Becoming healthier will allow us to be there in the future and be able to do more now. When we don't take the time to fill our own cups how can we fill those of people we love. Finding the way is a difficult one but we can do it. hugs
My day has been a blah one. Woke up thinking I could finally at least do the elliptical. By the time I got moving and all the morning things done the leg pain was off the chart. Hubby keeps telling me to go to chiro. I've not been in years but it would probably help get whatever inline that has the nerves so messed up. Thanks to all for keeping me going when I'm not able to go myself. Still logging though so hoping official weigh in tomorrow will be a good one.
Fingers crossed for onederland since I was hair over 200 today.13 -
@LovelyChaosLilly, does it help to think of it like this? Everything you do to make you stronger, happier, and healthier is ultimately something that helps you do more for your family, the way you want to but can't always manage.
Also, one of the BEST things you can do for your kids is teach them healthy eating habits, and ways to deal with stress that don't involve food. That really started me off on my path of confronting my eating disorder and bore fruit in that my sons, despite their heredity, eat in a healthy way as adults.5 -
@lilann1961 I feel you so hard on this with cliquey moms! It's like Lord of the Flies in mom groups sometimes and I just don't get it.
@BrownSugar174 that sounds like so much fun!
@bluffgirl67 I know you know (that I know that you know, lol) that weight loss is like 90% food anyway, so take that exercise bit in stride. I hope that your leg is feeling better soon, that must be very disheartening. But your spirit is admirable, coming in here and cheering everyone on despite not feeling well!

Today I am at 206. I would like to get to 203 by the end of January. My weight fluctuates so much it's really hard to tell. My goals are strength training and swimming for this month!10
-
@bluffgirl67 thank you so much for the tip on looking for grams. I’ve actually started using PAM to cook some things. I also have started measuring the olive oil and mixing it in the veggies (in a mixing bowl before putting it in the frying pan).4
-
@speyerj @BrownSugar174 @bluffgirl67 Thank y’all for the warm welcome! I’m awe with all you ladies who continually lift each other up.6
-
Wow guys! I’m so excited for all of you! I wish I could be as good as you and tag each of you individually but holy moly 🤪 there are so many of you!! Each of you have unique and individual styles. I like it! I appreciate reading about each of your takes and incorporating bits and pieces into my own plans.
That said, the cookies are gone! I ate two small ones out of the whole batch (which was like 2 1/2 dozen) and I’ve been adding a few more calories in to help with the fatigue. So far it hasn’t helped. I sure hope something works soon because my nursing school starts in a few days and clinicals are full 12 hour shifts.11 -
@bluffgirl67, how amazing of you to not feel well and still come in here and cheer everyone on. I hope you feel better soon.
@Aerohead21, great job! 2 small cookies out of that many is an accomplishment. I hope you also start to feel better soon.
@L2HS, welcome! Everyone here is absolutely amazing and inspiring.
@joelann10, that seems like a completely reasonable goal! Welcome
@LovelyChaosLily, we're happy to have you. Finding that balance is so important ad it is something I still have to work on everyday.
@shorepine, I'm happy to hear you're on your first good day again. Also, great job on signing up for the spin class AND killing it! Go you. Also, props to logging your food even on your binge days, I know how hard that can be.
@Tarzan37, it always makes me smile and feel better when I come here and read through everyone's postings.
@lilann1961, we are happy to have you
@mmdeveau, enjoy the restaurants! I'm sure you will be able to find that balance.
@amkita, go you! Almost hitting all your goals and for seeing that scale move!
@pamiede, you all look GREAT!
@vegasgirl0825, I hope you get to feeling better!
@sharpdust, that day sounds exhausting. I can easily see why you weren't able to eat enough.
@aliciap0116, thank you! It has definitely been a struggle some days, but I am determined not to miss a class if I can help it.
Today was a rough day, my anxiety was brutal last night so I wasn't able to sleep, BUT I made it to my kickboxing class really helped. Nothing too much to report, I am resisting the urge to weigh because I know it is going to be higher due to water retention and muslce soreness, so fingers crossed I can hold off until Monday.
I love seeing so many new people, as always, please add me if you are looking for friends!9 -

1/10: 242 (-0.5)
1/17: 240.2 (-1.8)
Had a good loss this week. I've kept under my calorie goal every day so far. My goal is to hit 238 lb. by the end of this month, so that should be doable.

Finally through the looking glass and into Onederland!! I don't even remember how long ago it's been since I have been below 200. More than makes up for my bum left side this week. CICO truth!! Thanks to everyone for the support and encouragement along the way. Next big goal number is 175. Gotta be honest..I can't quit smiling to myself. Back to catch up later in the day.18 -
Congratulations @bluffgirl67!! You've done an amazing job of persevering through some tough obstacles! Very inspiring!2

Overall, I did much better this past week! I made sure to drink at least 60 ounces of water a day and did a good job of staying within my calories for at least five of the days. If I can do all of that for seven days straight now, I should record a bigger loss on the 24th!
Happy Friday everyone!7 -
Weighed in at 201.6 this morning.
I'm so close it's agonizing lol. In the grand scheme of things it's just one more pound out of many, but on a smaller scale, hitting goal markers is satisfying as heck. After that, the next big goal is 185. That one marks the line between obese and overweight for my height.13 -
Congratulations @bluffgirl67! You have been steadfast. So happy for you!!5
-
wow @bluffgirl67 well done on the onderland!! and looks like @terytha will be joining you there soon!! Great work on the water drinking @Tarzan37, you're on the way to getting into the habit of it and then you'll drink it automatically. Can't reply to everyone so thought I would start getting in the habit of trying to reply to the last three people as a start so hopefully over time I will give everyone a thumbs up!
As for whoever said about weigh in days, I weigh daily but monday is the official day.9 -
I just decided to actually make use of my MFP account with my old method not helping to keep me accountable... so I'm quite late to the party with my post, but here is goes!
SW and CW: 245
My New Years Resolution is to make overall healthy changes and not focus on my weight number so much. I spent so much of last year on the scale and it yo-yo'd so much that I'm, again, almost at my starting weight for 2019.7 -
@bluffgirl67 YOU ROCK!!! And all of your amazing stories are really motivating. Thank you all for sharing. And keep going, you will reach your goals.8

Welcome back girl! Small sustainable changes... that’s what I keep saying to myself over and over again.5 -
I read all your comments, I’ve no idea how you people reply to everyone in one big long post!
I’m having a rough day. My blood sugar levels were low in the night, I woke up hypo having had bad sleep and I feel crappy (t1 diabetic). I’ve walked the dog once, need to go again soon before it’s pitch black outside and then I’ve an appointment at 7.30pm to quote for some work. Think I’m coming home to bed after, I don’t want to fall off this MFP wagon!
Hope you’re all having a good day folks xx11 -
Weekly Check-In:
SW: 275 (September 2019)
CW (Dec 31): 233
Jan 10: 227.8 (-5.2 lb/month)
Jan 17: 224.2 (-8.8 lb/month)
Jan 24:
Jan 31:
January goals:
1-Make it to 50 lb total loss (225 lbs). Did it! 224.2 lbs
2- Keep my sodium intake under goal 6 out of 7 days/ week. 5/7 This one definitely needs work.
3- Get more steps in. Need to work on this one. I averaged around 7100 per day.
Overall it was a good week with a couple of NSV's. Besides hitting 50 lbs lost, I finally had someone notice/got my first comment from a family member who didn't already know I was trying to lose weight. And I finally was able to go down a jean size! (My jeans have been loose for a while but the smaller sizes I could find at the thrift store didn't fit at the waist. But I finally found some this week!)15 -
@Aerohead21 Choosing to eat only two cookies was a great decision. Have you thought about checking iron level etc to see if that is why you aren't feeling well? You've got a lot coming up so hoping you can find a solution soon.
@torihudson6 Sorry you are stressing right now. You are doing amazing with your kickboxing workouts. The scales probably will reflect the change in workout but that's fine. The drop will come. Keep working and kicking it out.
@rhaiin Great loss for the week! You can reach that goal.
@Tarzan37 Congrats on a very nice loss! Sticking with your goals is really paying off.
@Terytha All the work you are putting in will be showing up on the scale soon. You've got this!
@fitchick37 I'm sorry you aren't well and had a crappy night. Hopefully you can have a good night's sleep. Then take advantage of the weekend to rest and recharge. Hang tight and you'll be riding this wagon to your goals. Hugs
@CLAWSMITH Whoop Whoop!! Congrats on losing 50lbs and a great loss for the month already. Having someone notice how hard you've been working must have felt great. I bet your are rocking those new jeans and even more people will start to notice the changes.
Thanks everyone for helping me celebrate Onederland. @aliciap0116 pointed out I hit it on my 100th log in day so that's pretty cool. I can stretch just a little further today so maybe by Monday I can be back to normal. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
12 -
@bluffgirl67 Congratulations! Getting to onederland is an amazing achievement! Way to go!5
-
Hi all! Doing my weekly weigh-in. I'm on my phone so this is going to be a very short post! I can't type very well and I'm currently talking to text right now 😆
I am going out of town this weekend and I am fully prepared! Still a little bit of anxiety but I really want to enjoy it! We have plans to do a lot of activity! Main reason I'm going is to play "hunt a killer". I go up to my best friend's once a month to play and I'm very excited!
I'm only going to post my weight goals and not my non scale goals... but did pretty good with those this past week. Except for the exercise as always ... but I did go a couple times so to me that's a success!
Show a loss this week which is great!
January goals – weigh in on Fridays
OW – 276.6
Starting weight for January - 252.2
January GW – 246.2 (6lbs)
1/10 – goal 250.7 – 248.8 – I had gained some over the holidays, so it really is only a 1lb loss for me technically
1/17 – goal 249.2 - 247.4
1/24 – goal 247.7
1/31 – goal 246.2
I've been reading everybody's posts! Great job! I'm going to try and do a reply post everybody next week!
Hope everyone has a wonderful and healthy weekend!8 -
@bluffgirl67 ONEderland!!!!! AMAZING!!!!! Truly inspirational!!!!!5

Hello
I don't really have a New Year's resolution but I am hoping to lose 30kg by the end of the year and look great in 2021!
My height is 5'3
Starting weight 105kg
Current Weight: 102kg
Goals:
To go to the gym at least 4 times a week
Drink more water
Log my foods on MFP daily
Prepare packed lunch for work
Drink less coffee8 -
@bluffgirl67 Congrats!!!! All your hard work has paid off, I'm so happy for you
@mmccloy12 I have a gathering with some female friends to celebrate one of our own getting engaged. Like you I am excited but also a little bit anxious because I don't want to fall back into old habits. Like you, I am planning ahead which should help with those decisions. Hope you enjoy your weekend
@CLAWSMITH Other people noticing is the best. I can't wait for that. Its usually the 20 pound mark for me when people start to notice
@Terytha you are almost there!!! How exciting
@tarzan37 Nice loss!
The weekend is here!!! Hope everyone has a good one. I plan on keeping up what I've been doing, logging my foods and getting some hikes in to add to my mileage.10 -
Hello! Just saw this thread.
Here are my stats:
Height: 5'9
SW: 256.8
CW: 248.4
GW:145-175 (anywhere in between there will be perfect).
Goals for January:- GW:245
- Eat out 2x a week max!
- Pack my own lunches 5x a week.
9 -
Tomorrow is "2nd Christmas"! My family lives in three states and so we try to get together in January instead of December because all of our lives have settled down. Well that means I will be tempted with stuffing, potatoes, homemade bread, pie, cookies, and fudge....😖 I will probably go ahead and enjoy the day, but I will feel guilty about it.7
-
Happy Friday everybody!!
Official weigh-in day for me:
SW: 201.4 (1/6)
1/10: 200.8
1/17: 198.2
1st GW: 190
UGW: 140
I'm very happy with the results so far. But, the weekend is coming and that's the hard part to navigate. I will keep trying to figure out how to not destroy my results. The good thing is, I'm becoming very mindful of eating more healthy things during the week. I've bought lots of fruits and veggies, and also snacks that will keep me satisfied in between meals. Love reading everybody's posts, gives me ideas I can use in my life.
Have a wonderful weekend everybody!!9
