It's nice to feel desirable occasionally, if the 'eyer' is respectful about it. If it helps, know that a person who takes care of himself/herself & has confidence -- regardless of age -- has always turned my head more often than anyone else. One of the sexiest women I ever met was 65, gapped toothed, & with a huge hook of a nose, but wow, the twinkle in her eye & way she carried herself were mesmerizing!10 -

I absolutely agree!!! Intelligence really turns me on along with confidence. I admire from afar because way too shy. Thank God my hubby isn't shy!!!7 -
To be fair my wife has given me that look since I lost weight and she is the only one that really matters but I feel she may be feeling 'obliged' to do it after 25 years. I certainly wouldn't act on anyone else actions but a little validation is always nice
NSV for today - was told that one of my jumpers looked like it was using me as a clothes hanger and didn't fit at all so that can go to the charity shop along with the big pile of suits at home.

Hawaii for 15yr anniversary in March. I own shorts but they don't really fit and i don't want to have to buy more. I also need a new swimsuit, mine is not in good shape due to being stretched out and old. So finding one that i like and fits me will be a challenge, so more options sound great. I have the confidence to wear a swimsuit but it would be nice to think less about how i look in it. No chub rub will wearing either the shorts or the swimsuit.
I would also like to weigh less than my husband8 -
To look good in anything I wear and come on, who doesn't want to be found attractive by others12

My recent kick in the a** was a sort of ambiguous relationship-ish situation maybe ending...? He was a totally nice guy, nothing traumatic or anything (I've been there too) but still gave me that mentality of wanting to get that revenge bod. Why do we do that?!?
Whatever works though! I'm fully back in the zone!10 -
Looks on the beach. 👙7

I'm getting married in September 2021 and want to look beautiful in pictures. I mean, I also want to be healthy and all, but currently the vanity of wedding dresses and pics is that extra jolt of motivation.14

Oh, and I also knit and would like to use less yarn/have it not take as long to make a sweater. 😉18

I want to be taken seriously, by others and by myself17

I just came to terms with the fact that I’m just really friggin sad right now. Finally losing the last 30 pounds may not be a happy pill but it’ll be a step in the right direction.
*update*
Okay you guys I found a truly petty reason!!!! So I have a crush on this long legged track star who wants to take me running with his dog once the weather is nice. Im super competitive so the goal is to be able to out run him! Or at the very least impress him!
I also want to walk around half naked this entire summer. Because that has never ever been a thing for me. 💪🏽 yes we can ladies and gentlemen yes we can!23 -
I used to be into rock climbing. Last fall, I tried climbing a route that used to be easy for me, and the 30 pounds I'd gained made it feel like trying to climb a ladder with a toddler strapped to my back. That's my petty reason.13

Every day I have to find something "dressy" to wear to work that will cover my muffin top up. I want to lose the weight so i can wear more than 5 tops and 3 pairs of pants. I refuse to go out and buy more clothes. I just need to get my head in the game.18

I'm going on vacation with my parents-in-law for their 50th wedding anniversary in June. For as long as I've known her, my MIL has talked about losing weight but she's never actually done anything about it. My petty reason is to be the one who actually *does* something about it.13

Lol yes this! Got back into knitting lately and it would be great to use less yarn, and also to be able to wrap projects more quickly.4 -

To show this louse I live with what a swan he’s been overlooking all this time with his neglect. I want that perfect heart shaped *kitten* of mine to be the last thing he sees as I walk out that door for the last time.

I want to show my family that I am better and stronger without them, and that I have moved on from their drama. Emotionally and mentally I've moved on, but I feel like my body is still kind of 'holding' me back14

My petty reason is when the nurse reaches for the blood pressure cuff to take my BP, she/he doesn’t have to change the cuff to a bigger size to reach around my arm when I’m wearing a thick sweater.10

My boyfriend lost 50 lbs from all my clean cooking! Women are constantly checking him out and flirting with him So now I have a petty reason to KEEP losing weight.16

A family member that had WLS told me that I needed to take my tax return and get weightloss surgery because I will never have the motivation to do it on my own. This person was 3 sheets to the wind and saying this "from a place of concern".
I just thought "Oh man, this hot mess is telling me that I'M A HOT MESS. Not today Satan! And that was what has gotten me through the first 20 lbs.45 -
Besides getting healthy....my petty reason is I want to buy this expensive and hot bikini I have been eyeing for the past 4 years and be the hottest grandma at the pool lol16

a size 14P lavender sheath dress I have had about 20 years never worn and I want to wear my wedding ring again.13

Haha! Great thread!
I think most of us have had the fantasy of making everyone's jaw drop in disbelief while singing Mariah Carey's "Someday" to an ex of ours, however, my petty reason leans a bit more towards just wanting to show everyone I'm not the person they had me pegged to be. There is an event in August I'd like to attend, and I feel like it will be a time for me to shine. It's kind of like either I start losing the weight now, or I don't go. And I want to go. I want to do this. So that's my petty reason: to show up to this event, and feel good, look good, and show everyone this awesome transformation of body, mind and spirit. Kind of like I want to be inspiring, but you know deep down I'm doing it because there's a handsome guy there I wanna impress, too....
Also, I have this lovely (casual) dress with the most vibrant green color that I bought literally over 10 years ago. Even though it didn't fit me the day I bought it, I said to myself almost prophetically, "Some day I'm going to fit into this/wear this, and look absolutely gorgeous." This August event is where I'm going to wear it. I just know it.18 -

My sister and I have never gotten along. She had weight loss surgery and gave me grief for being heavy and poor enough that I couldn't "get healthy", and for having chosen a fat husband, and...yeah. Well, the WLS kicked on some autoimmune stuff that she is now dealing with, and she's gained about half her weight back.
I don't see her again til Christmastime, and I want to have dropped eighty to a hundred pounds without messing up my insides, just willpower. Kiss that, kitten.
Plus I want to be able to show my ex when I see him that he's the one that kept me from being healthy.
Also, corsets. I LOVE corsets. I want to be able to wear the ones I have again, and they'll help the skin shrink when I get to where I can wear them again.12 -
To look good in family vacation photos. I wanna be the hot mama!11

Ha, fun thread and beautifully honest! Mine? My neighbour saw a photo of me and suggested it must have been taken a very very long time ago as I looked quite slender. The horror, it was from 2017. After a few years of endless (minor but chronic) leg injuries that stopped me exercising (and frankly a great love of cakes, crisps and couch) I am set to sneakily beat her at her own game - she's always telling me how she used to be tiny and really needs to lose weight16

I feel like this is extremely petty and selfish because people are constantly mom-shaming me for wanting to maintain my body and not gain any "extra" aside from what I need for baby to be healthy.
I want a belly-only pregnancy, and I'm working very hard for that to happen.
I want people to not be able to tell that I am pregnant from behind.
I don't want to have my baby and then hate myself for letting myself gain all of my weight back and having to start over.
I'm tracking everything. But still maintaining a good communication with my doctor. If she says I'm not gaining enough, then I will eat more. But for now, I'm counting calories and so far I've been under because I'm just not that hungry. I get such dirty looks when I'm offered junk just because they think the pregnant lady will surely want some and then I politely refuse.
"You're eating for two, indulge a little." they say with an eye roll.
Um, no.
To whoever, disagreed, you do you.
I'm making sure my baby is healthy but I'm keeping ME healthy, too.
