Good evening all. Monday is my weigh-in day and all the hard work and healthy eating is moving the scale in the right direction.
Thank you @cayenneandcoopersmom for the suggestion to try Functional Training. Lots of YouTube video instructions to check out. It make sense and sounds like a solid plan.
Today was a rainy day, so I took a nice long walk around the local home décor store quickly going up and down each isle looking at the things I don't need. I did pick up a few candles in a pretty shade of blue and headed to the hairdresser and then to my knitting group. Got more steps in before dinner walking in my building. Gave myself a break from weight and resistance today, slow and steady approach. Don't want to burn the candle at both ends and burn out or hurt something when it's going so well.
Hope y'all have been making great choices. Take care. Om….

MFP was a big part of my weight loss between 2013 & 2015… almost 200 lbs. lost. Kept it off for several years but became lax about diet & portions…had not been on MFP boards in a few years. Never regained the first 100 lbs I lost but almost regained the 2nd 100. Starting last May 2019, I started intermittent fasting (16/8) and changed diet to largely plant-based – but absolutely still eat non-processed meat – just nowhere near what I did in the past. Good news is – I am almost fully “recovered” and lost 80 lbs + for a total loss of over 180. Less than 10 lbs to go. The story is much longer, but can say intermittent fasting has been great for me and no plans to change. LDL has dropped from 133.00 in Jan 2019 to 71.20 in Sep 2019 and no longer taking statin. MFP has been a big help once again!

I am just getting back to it after surgery to relieve pressure on a nerve core in my neck.
    Roy
Roy, may I ask what your symptoms were before your surgery?
    thanks,
    Christine AKA: lynnchristy

    Hey Christine,
I started with numbness in my hand, mainly thumb and index. Doctor originally said probably was carpal tunnel. Within two weeks I started getting pain in my shoulder and down my arm. To be honest I thought i had popped my should out again,(that's another story). Then I got hit with a pain that started radiating up and down my arm. Even with pain killers it would not subside. It was by far the worst pain I have gone through. After seeing a specialist was finally put on Gabapentin. This dulled it enough to make me human again. They thought it was a disc and I went through the cortisone shots that did nothing.
Surgery was the final decision and was to remove the disc they thought was putting the pressure on the nerve core. Hour and half set up and 1/2 hour surgery turned into a 4 hour surgery as they found the disc was fine, but there was a spur pressing on the core. Still have some of the numbness and need to rebuild any muscle due to nephropathy. I do not wish this on anybody. So I hope you are not having any issues.
Sorry for the long drawn out post.

    Roy

Roy, thanks so much for your response. I sent you a private message. I guess I am still a bit sketchy about putting a lot of personal info out there, sorry.

Thankful and counting my lucky stars that so far (a year out from first) my hip replacements have taken well and no recall issues I know of have come to pass. The most effective exercise for me has been walking and pool exercise, basically taking my hip PT into water. Kudos for finding what works best for you![/quote]

Hi Gerald, I have painful knees and hips and have found that walking and pool exercise has been very helpful for me, too. :)

Happy hump day, all! Several of you mentioned hip and knee issues. Consider using some hiking poles when you're out walking. They help me a lot, particularly on the downhill portions on hikes. Many of them are collapsible and light - makes it easy to take them along anytime.

    Hi!

Please add me. I'm 68, just coming off of 3 spinal surgeries for herniated discs, and I want to lose 20 more pounds (down 38 from 3 years ago).

    Julia

Hey Julia, first off you don't look 68. Hopefully the surgeries will give you some of your mobility back. Please feel free to add me. I am just getting back to it after surgery to relieve pressure on a nerve core in my neck.

    Roy

    Thank you!

My pain started as Sciatica in my left thigh only. My 1st MRI showed a C5 disc and 4 Lumbar discs. The surgeon did the cervical disc 1st and that one hurt the worst. This was my 1st experience with Oxycodone and I almost became addicted. Every waking moment concerned making sure I didn't run out. Thankfully, I learned from this, and on the next 2 surgeries I weaned myself off quickly.

Doing well now as long as I take some NSAIDS and some prednisone every day.

Good evening. Glad to see the new joins and returning posts. I'm doing good, keeping busy with exercise, knitting and art class. Busy hands aren't feeding the snack monster still hiding in the back of my mind. Thanks for the hiking pole suggestion @alteredsteve175, you've got me reading reviews and checking videos for poles that could make beach and rocky terrain easier to navigate. Take care all. Om....

Evenin’ everyone. I had a good day today.a leg session and 40 mins on the bike at the gym. Excellent on food. To add to the bone and joint complaints😈 I was just diagnosed with severe inflammation of the bones in my foot! Hence, the bike. Have a trip to Italy coming up and it had better be cured by then!!!

Hope you folks have had a great day! I've been sick with allergies the last few days so that's thrown me off, but am now on the mend so was able to get out and take a good walk today. Still futzing around with my food intake and trying to get the macronutrient ratios right, but that will come with time as the menu planning gets sorted out. It's a puzzle getting that figured out, but an interesting one.

    Happy Valentine's Day everyone <3

Congrats Siberian2590 - you are doing it! bethe - did you notice the pie graph that is under our daily food log now? That should help some with the macronutrient ratios. I eat low carb and have a time getting enough fiber sometimes. bacpath - Hang in there, you're doing great with exercising even with all the obstacles. You will have a wonderful time in Italy, I'm sure :)

Shout out to all my friends :D

Just found this group and I am in. 64 yrs old, been on this site for years, but keep losing and then gaining it back after life throws hurdles. I have been back logging since first of year, down a few pounds but need the encouragement of a group my age! Been reading all your past posts. Inspiring! Thanks. I am active, walk, hike, ellip and yoga, just started 3 times week weights again. My downfall is night binge eating after stressful work days... happens about once a week, but want to get that down to 0. Appreciate the support. Live in VA
