@shanaber interesting about the "shake and bake". My mum was always convinced we got more earthquakes in April and October due to the change of seasons. Wonder if there is any truth to it? And we get a lot of earthquakes in NZ.
I had a lazy ish day. Went for a 3k run, then did a short strength training session, and then went for a short walk in the park before meeting up with an old friend I haven't seen in about 12 years for coffee. Just a wonderful, perfect day.
Can't believe the end of Feb is here tomorrow! Who's gonna do the march thread?

Early morning at the gym today for a mace workout (for the study I'm in) before my hybrid cardio/strength training class. In between I did a very short treadmill run just to get the minimum in for today.
We didn't get much of the predicted snow, but it turned really cold here overnight and there is a wind advisory currently. It's pretty miserable out there and I'm not looking forward to the next few days. Not sure I'll end up reaching my 100-mile goal for February. It all depends on whether I get my long run in on Saturday, which is looking iffy at the moment.6 -
@7lenny7 I will definitely have to investigate the honey water thing you mentioned when I get back to mileage that needs fuel. I am willing to invest in gu and other things, on the rare occasion my runs are long enough to need fuel, but the not dealing with the sticky mess thing is something I can totally get behind. I end up feeling sticky enough after a long run, I try not to add to it. Also, in training, the caffeine that is often included in pre-made substances, isn’t always appreciated for after work runs.
Also, I love the kody pictures... but it is making me contemplate how much of a wuss/loser I am being by not going out on snowy trails and instead dreadmilling it. May have to try an adventure/USFS trail/snowshoe trail run this weekend, when I have time to thaw.
Today was 2.3 miles, and the first sub 15 minute mile (aka sub reasonable walking pace aka “pack test” pace) of this regroup.
This also means I am at 25.3 / 25 for my loosely set/mid-month determined goal.
I may have to go look at notes to see when I last actually met my intention for mileage. Also means I should probably start thinking of a goal for next month that is lofty enough I can go back to my traditional “set a goal I totally don’t reach” mode. Like, I can’t go changing who I am, or the girl y’all know, and actually meet my goals twice in a row or anything...ya know?6 -
My running goals for 2020 are to build up endurance and speed while staying healthy. Strength goal - lose body fat and gain some muscle and work on flexibility.

Monthly total – 69 miles
2/27: Yesterday’s run felt ok, not great. And today, had a chiropractor appt. He said my right rib cage area of my back was so tight and knotted up and that in his opinion was the actual cause of my tight hip flexor area. I have no idea why….don’t feel stressed, don’t recall any event that did it. Had a massage done last week and she said the same thing….big knot in that area. She worked on it for an hour. Sigh….he also said that running wasn’t helping. I’m at a loss……maybe I just need to chill for a while. 😫

Thinking about my 5 siblings makes the other side of my back seize up. 🤣 While I love them all, I only really get along with a few of them. We are all so different. I prefer each of them one on one....family gatherings are not a good idea.2

Well, I did drink too much free wine at the conference dinner, but I did manage to get out on Wednesday morning for a jaunt along the Mersey. I was lucky that the start was a back wind, as it was cold, blowy and sporadic showers. By the time I turned back at 4km, I had to traverse that distance, whatever, and running was the quickest and warmest way of getting back. At least until the hail storm hit me in the face at 7km! Holy Hades, that was *bitter*. I was very glad to get back to the hotel for a hot shower! As expected, not enough sleep, too much wine and getting chilled to the bone has meant I've not been out since Wednesday, but all I have to do is a nice 5km tomorrow to meet my February goal. All I have to do now is decide on my March goal!
Hugs to all of you with family issues. I don't have much extended family, and I get along with my sister just fine - in fact we run together twice a year.
Goals for the year:
1. Get back down to a decent running weight (currently set at 160lb)
2. Run a sub-60 minute 10K
3. Run at least 4 10K races
Current races planned:
14/06 Lincoln 10K
??/10 Autumn Richmond Riverside Run6 -

The wind died down here so this morning’s run was a nice 29F (real feel 25F).
My only sibling (my sister) died from a form of acute leukemia when we were teenagers. I often feel sad that I don’t have other siblings, nieces or nephews. But then I read this thread and don’t feel so bad!

Mostly cloudy with occasional snowflakes, windy, and low 20s F this morning. Footing was better than yesterday, but not by a lot. Had one significant slip, but caught myself and didn't do any structural damage. Today's run was in honor of my birthday; the first person to correctly guess my chronological age will get a big MFP hug (provided I can figure out how to do emojis).
Next year when you pop in here claiming your December 2020 mileage, what accomplishments will you have made?
Return to a good running weight of 175 lbs
Run at least 4 5k races
Get a 5k PR
Average at least 138k per month, to meet my Run the Year pledge of 1,020 miles

2020 races:
4-25 Shine the Light 5k, Twinsburg, OH
5-23 Race for the Parks 5k, Hudson OH

Morning!
I have "rested," allllll week because the IT band syndrome crap. Lots of stretching, lots of foam rolling, lots of strength traning focused on glutes, flexors, and hammies.
I really need a run.
Not a lot of pain today, just barely a twinge in my back hip joint. i hope it stays away for tomorrow - tomorrow is going to be 64 degrees F here and I soooooo want to get out and run. I'm getting excited.
I also would like to buy some running shorts, but I don't know what I like. I have some cute nike ones that are SO comfortable, but I don't know if they're too short and they fit as tight as leggings do, but they're shorts. I feel like I should get some that are more loose-fitting. I also want pockets. Lots and lots of pockets.
I think i have been trading pain in the IT band for pain in other areas - today it's a knot behind my right scapula (shoulder blade + I think I spelled scapula wrong). Getting old is dumb. It's a new thing every other day. That's what my elders say and it's frustrating because I think it's so preventable and I must not be doing something right.
Under Armour sent me an email for $40 off $100 - I'm sure you all got it too lol. I wonder if they have some joggers that my daughter would wear....3 -
