Pfft, the universe sure likes proving me wrong. Some months the scale hardly budges, and some weeks you lose 3 pounds in 2 days.
Today's weight: 195.2, down from my hover point of 198-199 through the last 4 weeks.
Weight loss: SUPER non-linear lol.
Which means I basically hit my February goal of 195. March will be 190 then! Which means I'm on track to no longer be obese in June.
I'm also thinking it might be time to try the next size down for jeans again.
I've been part of this group almost since I started losing weight at 272 pounds and all of you are a huge inspiration and incredibly hard working and to all the new people: you got this! Weight loss is a personal, individual effort but it doesn't have to be alone.18 -

Girl that's amazing!!! Congrats on that and hitting your goal this month!5 -
@Terytha - I feel the same way. You and Raven St. Cloud have been with me every step of this journey through this thread. New friends have joined us and made us stronger. I'm so glad we've both stuck through this. It's my 9 month anniversary today.
@ehusted7059 - I know what you mean about sharing your weight. That was a huge hurdle for me. But you know what, the first time I did it - right here on this monthly thread back in July, it was liberating. Suddenly I wasn't keeping my weight a secret anymore. And now that the secret was out, shame had no place to hide. Posting my weight and even more importantly my goals for the month has really made all the difference to my success.
I work in Healthcare IT and my clients are Medicare and Medicaid health plans, so regulatory compliance and hitting targets is a constant thing. It's funny but posting my goals has really turned into a compliance program for me, similar to what our health plan clients have to do. If I don't meet a certain threshold, I'll be out of compliance and then I'll need to put myself on "plan of correction". This thread is like a KPI dashboard - it lets me know at a glance if I'm on target or off track. And if I get off track, I've got a cadre of weight loss consultants (you all) to help me course correct.14 -
@cheesenobiscuit Thank you!
I think the perspective is important. When I started I used to get pretty jealous of the people who were already so much lighter than me. I felt hopeless of shifting the 120 pounds I needed to lose.
But they put the work in for longer. And now I'm the one who put the work in for the long time and I'm at the point I used to be jealous of others for reaching. And I'm determined to pull or push as many people with me as I can because I was pushed and pulled this far.
How's that for an NSV lol.
@speyerj 9 months is incredible. I'm proud of you. ♡16 -
Good morning everyone!
Made my goal for February and I am excited for March!
Doing really well with food/calories for the most part. Yesterday was a really tough day. I really learned something new. As I have posted before, people at my work seem to want to taunt me with food and I sit right next to where they put it. And someone brings in something every day, but I have resisted. It was Fat Tuesday on Tuesday and I did really well. A co-worker was bringing in red beans and rice and I planned to eat that. Although, I didn’t feel satisfied when I was done. I would have much rather eat my prep meals that seem to have more satiety to it.
But back to yesterday. I woke up hungry and that is rare. I usually have my chia pudding ready for those moments but for some reason I didn’t prep those this week. It’s been weeks since I have even eat them because I typically won’t start eating until around 11am and I start with snacks then have a late lunch. So I grabbed a jimmy dean “turkey egg white delight” sandwich (high in sodium – 250 calories) not the best choice…but I was hungry and it was better than going through a drive thru. But boy did it spark something in me to want to eat all day! I had to mentally control myself from eating everything in sight yesterday. On the way home, I contemplated going off plan. But I asked myself is that what I really want to do the day before weigh in! . Thank goodness for this thread! I came up with an enjoyable dinner to get through it. Instead of eating my “boring” (just my thought for yesterday, normally I love my prepped meals) prep meal, I ate something a little high in fat and carbs but stayed under calories.
It really motivated me to move forward…a little win that is giving me momentum!
I wish I could reply to everyone like some do, but it’s difficult for me to keep up! It is so motivating to come and read this thread…I see successes, I see you working through your struggles and prayers to anyone that needs those!
I hope everyone has a great healthy weekend! See you in the March thread! (Thank you @ravenStcloud)

I didn't reach my goal weight this month but between Valentine's day and my birthday, I'm happy I still had a decent loss.
SW: 312
GW: 155
February GW was 274
02/02 - 283
02/09 - 281.2 (-1.8)
02/16 - 280.6 (-0.6)
02/23 - 283.4 (+2.8)
02/28 - 279.0 (-4.4)
I would really like to be in the 260s by April when I go to the beach. My original goal was to be 265 by the time we take the trip right in the middle of April but that would have me losing 14 lbs in 6 weeks, and I'm not sure how realistic/healthy that even is, so I'll just shoot for getting below 270. I'm excited to kick March off!
As others have said, I don't comment or reply to everyone's posts because things get crazy being a new mom, but I do read everything and I'm cheering everybody on!13 -

So I didn't hit goal. This week I've been all over the place from 194 to 198. So I felt like Forrest Gump eating chocolates when I stepped on the scale. I knew I would be holding a little water since yesterday was strength day. Overall I'm happy with the month. Ready to spring into March.11 -
Weekly Weigh In:
2/1: 251
2/7: 249
2/14: 247
2/21: 245.5
2/28: 244
February goals:
*Continue attending ALL my kickboxing classes!--I have missed a few this month (only 3), so in the grand scheme of things, not the worst thing.
*Work on decreasing my sodium intake--still room for improvement, but definitely something that has gotten better.
*Lose 4-5 pounds--7lbs down! This is the most I have lost in a month before. I am honestly surprised because Feb was rough for me, mental health wise and with school, so to still come through with a loss is a great feeling.
*Incorporate more veggies/protein in my diet--Protein is going well, I do need to work on the veggies. I have discovered that I really enjoy peppers, which is new for me.10 -
Good morning! At least it's morning where I live. Reading everyone's posts as I enjoy my coffee is a nice way to start the day.
@svm569 don't sweat the gain. Seriously, when you change scales like that, it does not mean you gained 4+ lbs. Especially if you weighed in the middle of the day and you usually weigh in the morning. Home scales are notoriously different from one another and really are just a "ballpark". Yesterday morning I weighed 201.9. I hopped on the scale before bed and I weighed 206. It does not mean that I gained 4 pounds yesterday! It is just that weight fluctuates depending on time of day so "they" say (whoever "they" are, LOL) to keep track effectively you're supposed to weigh yourself on the same scale at the same time of the day. You broke both of those rules! So, take a deep breath, try again on Sunday, and accept that using a different scale may mean a different baseline. You're doing great!
@mmccloy12 I know about all those days when you just don't feel satiated! But great job taking control of the situation. I find the same, that weigh in days help me. I love the feeling of having the scale come down, more than I love the feeling of giving in to a particular craving that I know will be unhealthy.
@Terytha I find your weight loss super inspiring and I love your attitude about the whole thing, how you still enjoy foods you love and seem to avoid "woo" diet stuff. Thanks for continuing to be here and sharing your perspective!
@lilann1961 I'm sorry about your daughter's health issues- that is so scary. I hope that some answers come soon, and you certainly can be forgiven for stress eating. I have gone through something similar with my now 7 year old son. Last year he had really mysterious symptoms for 6 months that resulted in all kinds of crazy invasive testing (poor kid had to have an endoscopy and a colonoscopy). In the end we never figured out what was going on, he just kind of got better. Or at least, I hope he is better. I definitely drank wine during that time and didn't make the best food choices. I hope things improve soon!
@Tarzan37 sending good thoughts for your sister! Waiting for test results is the worst.
As for me, it's the almost-last-day of the month and I'm happy it's Friday. I plan to run today in prep for my 5k in a couple of weeks, even though it looks like rain is in the forecast. That's what rain jackets are for, right?
I'm feeling pretty good, I haven't been losing much and haven't been sticking to a set "weigh in day" but this morning I looked at my weight graph for the last 3 months, and slowly but surely it's coming down- little bit by little bit. I've lost only 8 pounds in 3 months, but hey, the holidays were in there, right? And also- it's better than the alternative, which is gaining.
I've also noticed my clothes are fitting a little better, and yesterday someone I hadn't seen in a while commented that I was looking "fit". Yeah! Little changes are good. And hopefully- little changes are sustainable for me. One thing I hope will help me this time is I am not losing weight for a specific event- like a trip or a wedding or a horse event. In the past, this is how I've always framed it and then once the event passes and I've shed the weight (or some of it, anyway), I just slip back to my regular habits and call it good. Unsurprisingly, the weight comes back. This time, I'm just losing weight to be more healthy. Middle age (I'm in my early 40s) has come to call and with it, new concerns about my own health and how it is affected by my weight.8 -

@fitchick37 Congrats on this month's loss. I love that since you weren't feeling the run that you switched to a swim. Doing what you enjoy for exercise means you will do it more often.
@cory17 Glad you had a lower number. You can keep it down and going lower. Stick to your goals.
@GroverBlue78 Happy you were able to find some time to workout. What a great supportive hubby you've got.
@torihudson6 Way to kick this month!! Those classes and your nutrition focus is serving you well. During your birthday week think about switching to maintenance calories and save some calories on regular days. That will you give extra calories on special days and should come out pretty well for the week.
@ehusted7059 Welcome. What did you set as your weekly goal loss in mfp? Just multiply that by 4 and subtract from current weight. Remember though that weight is ups and down even when it seems like we are doing everything right. For example this week my weight is the same as last week even though I didn't go over in my calories and worked out. That's ok because I know it will go down as I continue to stick with things.
@svm569 Great loss for the month! I know your frustrated with the scales but I wouldn't stress over it. They are new so will be different from your old ones. Adding in the strength training also more than likely affected your water retention. I always weigh more the day after strength. Give it a few weeks to see how your body reacts plus adjust to the new scales. You've done an amazing job this month.
@ashleyrivers You've been successful before and know you can do it. Finally being in a good head space will be a tremendous help. I think once we can feel comfortable within we are able to celebrate ourselves without constant doubt and sabotage. My advice is to go slowly which will allow to process all the new feelings that come with the body changes.
@kali31337 Very nice!! Yes, good choices most of the time is what matters. Being able to take a day every now and then to break helps keep the burnout down.
@CupcakeCrusoe You did smash it!!! Love seeing all those green checks. Keep checking 'em off.
@angelexperiment Congrats on your loss. I'm sure making the small adjustment will help with the hunger feelings.
@BrownSugar174 Awesome job!! You continue to inspire with your dedication to making changes and working hard at the gym.
@FadedNovelty Great number for the month! Your routine is working well and paying off. Feeling stronger is a great nsv. Take measurements if you don't since between the fat loss and muscles growing your body is going to be changing in ways that may not show up on the scales.
@AlexandraFindsHerself1971 Keep at it and the jeans will be up over that booty before you know it. You are doing great!
@lilann1961 I'm sorry you still haven't gotten any answers for your daughter's health issues. I know that is stressful and we all don't like it when we can't help our kids get better. Take care of yourself and family first.
@Tarzan37 Sending good thoughts for your sister's results. Focus on caring for yourself and your sister. The rest can wait.
@kathrynegrady You have solid goals and plans in place. I don't have premium so not really sure what difference it makes. Someone else may have insight on that. I'm glad you took the leap and joined in the thread.
@Terytha Congrats on hitting goal this month! Watching your journey has given me encouragement and hope for mine as well. You said, "I'm determined to pull or push as many people with me as I can because I was pushed and pulled this far." That right there is why I love this thread. Keep pushing and pulling us. Now go get those jeans!!
@Speyerj Happy 9month Anniversary! Your journey also gives me inspiration. You have lost so many pounds and continue to set and achieve monthly goals like nobody's business. The consistency of your work is amazing.
@mmccloy12 Great work on reaching your monthly goal. I'm so proud of you not going off plan yesterday. Extra props for taking the time to stop and ask yourself the tough questions. You had a wonderful Feb and no doubt March will be also.
@cheesenobiscuit It might not be goal but you had a very solid loss for the month. Celebrate that win! Needing to shift goals as we go along is just part of the process. It's not about the number but about progress forward.
@shorepine Feeling fit and healthy is where it's at. Even better is when others notice the changes. Sure we are doing this for us, or at least I hope most are, but getting recognition is always nice. Enjoy your run.
@Lasmartchika All loss is progress even when it is less than we had hoped. Congrats on doing that.
Hubby has the weekend off and I want to do something but don't know what. Weather is iffy and other than needing to make a Costco trip I'm clueless. There is a new restaurant that opened this week. Maybe will give that a try. Hope everyone has a happy Friday and great start to the weekend.

@svm569
Scale/weight fluctuations are normal. Starting a new exercise routine, weighting in the middle of the day, and getting a new scale are huge factors to having changes in weight. Weight in the morning, noon, and bedtime one day and you'll see a difference. It's not weight gain- it's fluctuation. When I first started I really struggled with those "gaining weight back" mornings. Someone said to me one day "Unless you ate 10,500 calories over your maintenance calories yesterday you didn't gain fat. You gained water". Times like this is when other measurements are helpful-even just to get you out of your own head. I've started to weight everyday and I have a lot of weight fluctuations.

@Tarzan37 I agree that holding steady this month was an accomplishment for myself as well. January was almost to easy, new year motivation, and then came February and the excitement/motivation started to wane. We made it through tho!
@Terytha "Weight loss is a personal, individual effort but it doesn't have to be alone." I love this! And way to meet your February goal
@fitchick37 Excellent loss! What type of lifting program are you thinking? I need one too
@GroverBlue78 Way to go! I hear you, I have been meaning to go to the gym and have not gone so I understand what a big deal this is! Keep it up, hope to share my gym stories with everyone next month
@torihudson6 Birthday Month!!! I am also happy to see February go, hoping for a better March. But you ended with 7 lbs loss!!! That's awesome
@svm569 Look on the bright side, even with the gain you still got an overall loss. I bought a new scale for the new year and I also saw a gain when I switched scales. Now that you are calibrated to this scale it should be more accurate.
@ashleyrivers "fighting to good fat fight" LOL Welcome, hope we can help each other as we continue on this journey
@kali31337 Great job! That an excellent loss for the month
@CupcakeCrusoe You rocked February!
@AlexandraFindsHerself1971 I also recently bought 4 pairs of jeans/jeggings, size 18. They fit pretty comfortably, not sagging, not too tight. I can't wait to see size 16 again
@lilann1961 I'm so sorry you had to go through that, very scary when its your child. Glad to hear that she is ok
@kathrynegrady Thats what I love about this group, we all have our ups and downs. I'm also trying to not overwhelm myself because then I will quit.
@mmccloy12 Great job not giving in to temptation! As far as your coworkers, people are weird. You think that by knowing you are trying to make better choices they would respect that. Good on you for not giving in. I love you asking yourself if it was a good idea to eat that before weigh-in, I honestly feel if I just ask myself that when I feel tempted I will make the right decision 9 times out of 10.
@bluffgirl67 you didn't hit the goal, but you're trending in the right direction. The Forrest Gump comment made me LOL
@shorepine I'm also not losing weight for a specific event/vacation. It does feel like less pressure, I'm ok with losing slowly. In my head I'm like this is a 1-2 year journey. Its a marathon.
I am weighing myself tomorrow for the last day of February. Will there be a gain? Will there be a loss? Will my weight be maintained? Tune in tomorrow to find out.11 -
