WOMEN AGES 50+ FOR MARCH 2020

Kylia I wonder if your mother-in-law would be amenable to a single injection of 1 gram of ceftriaxone (Rocephin)? That's a pretty decent treatment for UTI in a person who can't or won't take pills. Of course her doctor would have to agree to the plan & your mother-in-law would need not to be allergic to it.

Rebecca – where did you enter your weight on MFP so that they could generate that chart? I’ve never done that but think it would be interesting to do for a bit
Rori – how scary that must have been! Thank goodness the neighbors took Mars in
Got my oil changed. They said something about how I will soon need new tires (there aren’t many miles on the tires as it is). Well, you know they are ALWAYS trying to sell you something, especially if it’s a woman who is going in for the oil change
Jess called. The college is going to go to online classes for the next three weeks. So she won’t be coming home
Have to call the neurologist tomorrow. Previously, they gave me the extended release. Well, with insurance thru Mars it was $50. Now on Medicare it is over $500. So I need to call the neurologist’s office to see what can be done. Even if I have to take the non-extended release tablets twice a day. We shall see.
Went to ceramics tonight. Vince had a GOP meeting and didn't get out in time. By the time he got home and had dinner, he felt it would be too late so he didn't go
M – oops! Me bad (Australia vs. New Zealand)
Kylia – a single injection is a wonderful idea!

Machka -- I went to a new hair stylist recently who recommended not washing hair every day. I needed to train my hair. So, I've been doing that the last few weeks and I have to say, it works. I even haven't been washing it after hot runs. I just dry it and spray dry shampoo in it. The most I have gone was 3 days. I did use a lot of dry shampoo. I have heard this many times before. It's because every time you wash your hair, you strip the oils and it becomes weaker and breaks. Mine does look better already.

All I need is for someone behind me on the bus to sneeze and I've got "droplets" in my hair. Run my hand through my hair ... and voila! COVID-19.
Hence the reason why I'm planning to have some of it cut off in a few minutes and to wash it more frequently.
And in other news, more information has emerged about the 3rd person in Tas and she attended my campus on Monday. So it begins.

Kiwibowler: In weight loss, slow and steady wins the race. In the story of the tortoise and the hare, we all know who wins the race. Stick with us and we’ll all eventually win.
Kylia: I have to admit I was having a personal stress festival. Thanks for the input on my repeated posts. :flowerforyou:
Amber: Chucky Cheese seems to be taking proactive measures to keep their customers safe. I think that is admirable.
I am an avid reader and use Library to Go to get most of my books. I turned in the last one when I finished it and can’t find anything to check out at the moment so I’m rereading books from my own shelves. These books are favorites that I have read before, but not recently.

March 2020 Resolutions Progress report:
1. Log every bite and swallow: Doing very well with accurate logging.
2. Cardio exercise at least 3 days a week: Work on strength and stamina. I've been able to meet my exercise goals.
3. Have fun every day: Unfortunately NOT every day. I've been locked in a stress festival.
4. Drink at least 3 glasses of water a day: Done.
5. Monitor sleep. Average 7 or more hours nightly: Done. Luckily I am sleeping well.
6. Abstain from alcohol. Done.

Taxes all finished. Accountant will file electronically as soon as she gets our signatures on the e file document. Yippee.

I just shared single injection idea with her grand daughter. So that way she can mention to Dr if MIL doesn't follow through with pills. She told my husband that she took it this morning and is due again at 930.
Michelle- if you go to progress where you add weight log in, it will show you the chart for week, month, year, or all. I know some features don't work on my tablet, some don't work on my phone. I have to log food on laptop or phone. I can read main page and community from tablet.
Today has been a stressful day, heading to bed with a sink full of dishes, clothes in the dryer, and bills to be paid. You know what? They will all be there tomorrow!

I've had 20 cm (almost 8 inches) of my hair lopped off now. It's just barely waist-length now. But that's good ... I'm less likely to drag it through stuff and it's a little bit easier to take care of.

Just skimmin' from Joe's laptop as mine is "in the shop."
Welcome Kiwibowler!
Viv Love the "declutter 1 item per day) Lenten discipline.
Kylia How frustrating. Can your MIL understand that if she doesn't take the pills, she'll be hospitalized and they'll medicate her via IV?
Machka "Lots of my time at home..." does that mean your work is closing shop, shifting to work-from-home? Touch my face uncountable times for same reasons as you listed, plus itchy ears and eyebrows. Sneeze droplets can land on short hair too, please do not shave your head. Instead try misting your hair with antivirals (thymol essential oil diluted with coconut oil?) and wash or antiseptic wipe your hands frequently. Whew, only 8 inches, yes that will make it easier to wash and dry. I so envy your long gorgeous locks!
Debby prayers for your DH, GS, family and the overseas family with the sick child.
Katla seems some of your posts reappeared from a few days ago. Could you be suffering an after shock from the accident? Don't understand about "insurance company taking care of the situation with the State of Oregon." Thankful our health practices and medicines are so much better than 600+ years ago, however the uber communication is, I think, a major contributor to the panic. IMHO this panic may well have a worse (economic) effect than the virus itself.
Annie in DE our BB&B exercise class has gone down to 4 attendees from normal 12-16.
Michele are you logging on phone or computer? If computer which browser do you use? Can you clear its cache?
Rori glad to hear DH has been back to Vets Club twice. 5 minutes to 3 hr agony of fear (sigh). REALLY glad to hear Mars found safe haven for the duration.
Rebecca and Kylia than you both for sparing us from reading whatever it was.
Heard President Trump is suspending inbound travel from Europe except the UK. Also that MIT has announced all on campus housing for undergraduates must be evacuated by March 17. Classes will resume online only after Spring Break. Feel sorry for the international students who may fear they won't be allowed to return to the US after leaving.
Will update todo's, stats etc tomorrow night.

Kylia: Thanks for your kind words. :flowerforyou:
Tina in CA: I’m sorry that your company events have been cancelled or postponed. It is sad, but sensible.
Rebecca: Athena is a cutie. Her eyes are a beautiful shade of blue. Happy 10 months!
Kim: It is good to see your smile & sunglasses. Sometimes there are no words.
Barbara: If a car is involved in an accident the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) wants to be notified. My insurance agent helped me with that.
I’ve been a mess, not entirely useless, but nearly so. :ohwell: The very same night as the parking lot fender-bender DH had a seriously low blood sugar episode and we had to call the paramedics from the fire department for help. They gave him IV Glucose. Luckily that did the job for him and he didn’t have to be taken to the hospital.
I hadn’t heard that Trump suspended all inbound travel from Europe except UK. I wonder why UK is not getting the same treatment as everyone else. If their conditions are safer, that would be very good news. I hope it is true.

This may sound like a weird question, but does anyone feel like you’re still your starting weight? I know that I’m not but sometimes I feel I am. I also have the fear that if I over eat that I’ve gained 10 pounds back. I also look in the mirror and think that I’m really chubby. I think it must be a psychological thing.

We are unreliable at self observing. Hence recording and self monitoring. Your Critical Parent ego state is trying to sabotage by getting you thinking in a very black and white way. Using weight checks and self motitoring is in the Adult ego state domain and is useful for challenging that black and white thoughts.
"if I overeat I will gain all the weight" "that happens only if I go back to my previous habits, overeating occasionally is not a return to old habits."
Another tool is looking to non measurement based outcomes. For example I'm using my ability to do side planks at the gym without my boobs escaping into my armpit as a non measurement based outcome. I know that before I put this weight on my bra could pin the puppies in place and I want that back7 -

There are faint murmurs that the COVID-19 unit might take over our floor when we're sent home. But who knows.
Meanwhile, I've gone 100% online at university. After a student was diagnosed yesterday, I requested the change and it was granted. I figure that by Easter the uni will end up going online anyway.
If I ever shave my head, it's because I'm in chemo. I may cut my hair to about 1-2 inches in length at some point in the future ... but not for a while yet.

Mary If you see a chubby person when you look in the mirror, it's definitely a psychological thing unless something has changed drastically. You have a fit, firm, fabulous body, and you worked really hard to get it.fanncy0626 wrote: »October 2014 north of 190!

Right now I would have been on the train to London for the girls' pre jaunt jaunt. Minus the Glasgow friend. I'm still sneezing and not an attractive specimen, so I did the right thing. I do feel a bit guilty though.
My difficult friend, who used to work for the WHO in Geneva as an epidemiologist, is getting very worked up about the virus, bombarding us with videos and statistics, so I don't want to give her a cold to cope with on top, although she says she gets plenty from her grandchildren. She has a lot of health problems and is convincing herself that she wouldn't survive COVID19.
Secretly I'm really happy not to be going, especially if that's all she can talk about. She can be over excitable.
Waiting for the outcome of the COBRA meeting at lunch time. I need them to bend the arm of Saga. I might ring them anyway and see if they've moved on the "amend" conditions. We still have around a week. My guess is they won't announce the cancellation of the cruise until after the amend period is over, so as to keep most of the money in house. Well, you would, wouldn't you. If the worst comes to the worst, we will take the January cruise.
Nice day, but pretty breezy. Might take a walk over to the fish market on the harbour. We are low on king prawns. Their frozen ones are far superior to any in the supermarket. Tonight we are going veggie with roasted Mediterranean vegetables and feta. Brown rice and a tahini sauce.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx who is counting her blessings.5 -
Heather Viking suspended all operations so maybe the others will follow. There will be a lot of pressure on Saga to follow suit. Hang in there until the last possible moment.4

Good Thursday,
Overslept, oops, guess I needed it.
Mary- I have read somewhere that the mind is the last to know. You have worked hard and come a long way. Weight is fluid. I use my clothes to let me know if I have been slipping up on my good choices. Of course sometimes in this age of leggings, I slip a little. I am not perfect! Our society encourages obesity. Super size everything. Process lots. Separation from people. YOU HAVE great habits in place to get where you are. Enjoy it. When you are thinking that you are old weight take a selfie and compare to old picture. We have your back!
Machka I love your hair. Mine hasn't been that long ever. Always wanted it. I am glad your uni is allowing on line classes.
Self care, self love, courage, exercise, best choices, lots of support. These are important things. I appreciate you all.
Gotta get ready for work.

Morning! Becca Athena 10 months of pure joy, how time flies!!
Rori glad the va social time is starting to settle a bit for DH. Scary that Mars went wandering but how wonderful your neighbors got to meet your leashloving cat
Barbie keep those book recommendations coming. I’m going to download the audiobook from my library today. Also glad we got our taxes “done and dusted”
My wrist is slowly improving and regular exercise and stretching is a big part of that—habits, routines, fierceness!
Going to get a cut and color today-hooray for a little bit of pampering-so welcome. Now off to the treadmill with me!!!

After work today, my husband and I walked to the beach and just sat there talking, and watching the little waves, the people, and the dogs. It was beautiful. No wind. Warm temps. Fairly quiet.
I had been praying for some good news this week.
We're in a holding pattern. Waiting to find out what's next with my husband's injury situation. Waiting to find out if and when my mother, husband and I will have our surgeries (all three of us are booked to see surgeons and organise things). Waiting and working toward finishing my degree. Waiting to find out what the most recent structural re-org at work will bring and if hinted-at advancements will ever take place. Now waiting to find out what will happen with this virus. Waiting, waiting, waiting with nothing resolving.
But today, I did finally get a little bit of good news.
I passed my summer course!! And I passed with a decent mid-high mark. That's such a relief!! Another course done ... only 3 to go.

Morning, afternoon and evening, all...
Last full day of my daughter's visit today, and much as I love them, I'll be happy to wave goodbye tomorrow and get back to our normal lives again. Must admit, it's been wonderful to be able to snuggle a two-month old pretty much at will, and see the nearly-five-year-old's imagination at full blast. Unfortunately, I won't get a chance to see my 8-year-old grandson, as the crapweasel sperm donor will be dropping him off at the other grandparents' in Missouri on Saturday, instead.
Rori - so glad to know your DH is beginning to acclimate to the Vet's Club, and hope it can continue despite the fears of group gatherings. My heart goes out to you with the scare for Mars, and so glad it was only a scare.
Rebecca - Athena's such a beauty--thank you for sharing pictures of her!
Egg (my cat, for those who don't know) is anti-humanity except for me and Corey, so has absented herself from the house since Sunday when my family got here. Corey got her to come as far as the back patio yesterday and got a couple bites of food in her, and this morning, for less than two minutes, she eased in her kitty door and bolted a few bites of food. We can't leave her food outside as it draws the raccoons and coyotes, as well as neighborhood dogs and cats, so if she's been eating, it's only been what she could catch. She's obviously lost a pound or so, but she got quite chunky this winter and is just back to fighting fit again.
And... this is also my last day of "vacation." Got a lot of cleaning done, got seven large garbage bags of donations to Goodwill so far, all the closets cleaned out, got a lot of family time in, and haven't gained any weight, but actually looking forward to going back to work tomorrow morning.
Today brings doing floors and hamburgers for dinner. Not sure what else, if anything. But right now, I need to go get on the elliptical.
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR9
