I have enjoyed my journey to better health and fitness in the company of other like-minded women. That's what this thread is about. The title says "Women Ages 50+" but all women are welcome.
I hope you will join me on this journey and talk about your up's and down's and the strategies that have worked for you.

The reason most people fail instead of succeed is that they trade what they want the MOST for what they want at the MOMENT.
My word for 2020 is "flexible".

My goal (little as it may be) was to do some yoga or pilates at least once a week and I achieved that. Now for the not eating after dinner. I have to make some mashed potatoes for one of our cats and will probably have to have a bite to be sure the potatoes are cooked and mashed completely and there's enough butter, etc. in them.
Michele still in FL but not for long10 -
My goal 🥅 is too gain more mobility with my new exercises. Try to loose the last pounds to get to my goal weight by next Christmas 🎄 or sooner. Learn even more about foods to nutrition calories to recipes.
To get JRs weight up (growth spurt coming again got to beef him up for ur) y get hubby down .Get myself down too.
To continue to grow as a family learning experiences to make us better with time.
Learned I wasn’t putting my protein shake in right so got to do that better . I like a little bit of international delight creamer mixed in forgot to add it! (60cal vegetarian protein powder,30cal unsweetened almond milk 🥛,y 35-70cal international delight creamer when I choose to add that ,occasionally I’ll add but I do record Hershey syrup few dots to make it more chocolate. ) I haven’t been adding the creamer that brain rationalized milk 🥛 + more 🥛 milk = same calories lol
JR turning 3yrs old!!! 🥳

Oh Lord I found the weirdest sandwich out there watched a review it’s my whole day’s calories without a drink or fries! USA 🇺🇸 Donut 🍩 Chicken fried Sandwich our newest low on unhealthy inventions! There’s no way someone can eat this without gaining 10lbs in my opinion looks terrible to me y messy . I’d be sick for weeks if I ate it.

Educational Goals -- Uni! I would like to finish my Master's degree in 2020.
** I have finished my summer course (but still awaiting my mark). I have started two courses this first semester. One is in person and the other is online. I haven't done 2 courses at once during this Master's degree so we'll see how it goes. **
Family/Medical Goals -- Husband -- Never-ending stream of medical appointments + projects with 2 or 3 different organisations. And me! A goal is to get me into healthy shape again!
** March is shaping up to be "medical month" ... just got to get through it all one day at a time. And March is the 2nd anniversary of the accident that changed our lives. **
Fitness Goals -- Exercise, Eating, Sleeping -- Working up to running 5 km at least a couple times a month. Working up to cycling 50 km at least once a month.
** I was hoping to run a 5K in Feb, but that didn't happen. I have, however, joined a "Run Strong" program to learn to run with better technique. And I'm climbing a multitude of stairs. Hoping to get another 500 in March. I've also got one or two cycling events to organise this month. **
Career Goals -- One of the main things my area is planning to work on is streamlining the processes a bit. Meanwhile I need to learn a lot more SQL and as much about what 2 different people I work/worked with did. I'm also on the board of two organisations now. Both interest me a lot, but I'm also hoping that taking on leadership roles might help advance my career a little.
** March is a big month at work with at least 3 significant submissions. I've spent the end of Feb trying to get older submissions tidied up and resubmitted if necessary, and I've made a start on these 3 upcoming ones. And I've got 3 or 4 meetings with one of the organisations I'm on the board of. **
Organisation/Financial Goals -- Getting our taxes done and other paperwork in order.
Spiritual Goals -- I'd like to start attending church a bit more regularly. I'll also include relaxation and recreation in here. Down time. I get very little of that at the moment and need more. For me that might be sleep and photography.
Social Goals -- Cycling Club. I've made a detailed list of what I need to do, which helps.
-- My Personal Website -- I have started working on this: machka . net This has a social aspect in that we go to Wordpress meetings now and then.

My cousin bought me an old fashion pot steamer! My electric steamer I used so much (2-3x daily) it broke in me . This shouldn’t break as easily last awhile! Says oven safe to 350* so guess like a Dutch oven with steamer basket. Should help with cooking a lot! Can cook so many veggies in it soup too it says.

It was the wettest February on record in the UK. A few communities still flooded out, poor things.
Today it's sunshine and heavy showers.
I woke up early this morning and rather than allowing myself to spiral into gloomy thoughts I decided to get up and read 'inner peace' quotes. Never fails to cheer me up.
Done my morning exercises and will wash my hair. That always cheers me up too.

First up is a dental appointment on Tuesday. Thank goodness because the rest of my filling came out today, and evidently I swallowed it. Plus there's another whole section of the tooth which looks set to go ... the tooth does not look healthy. However, because the rest of the filling came out, that tooth is now sensitive to cold and hot and eating on that side etc. so I'm glad the dental appointment isn't too far away.
I could use another day like today. Today I worked my way through a number of little things ... bills that needed paying, some of my laundry, a few things I needed to deal with in my cycling club, etc. etc. I made some headway but unfortunately I'm not done yet ... that's where another day would come in. But I need to go to work tomorrow and this coming week is going to be busy. Still I'm glad I got done what I did.
I also got in a decent run on my treadmill which was nice.

Welcome March.
Can everyone feel spring is right around the corner? It is the time for renewal and growth. I sure miss seeing the crocuses, daffodils, and other signs of warmer days to come.
Barbie – Many thanks to you for keeping us together and starting the March thread. Your motivational posts are thoroughly appreciated.
Barbara – Happiest of birthdays to you!
Margaret – Thank you for the idea of the lemon essential oil mix. I also am concerned about the economy and the amount of panic the media is creating. This is not the first outbreak, nor will it be the last. It seems the creation of panic is the new norm. It saddens me.
Allie – Sending positive thoughts. There is something out there for you. And, maybe it is not in a dental office so do not limit yourself.
Karen – I have been checking the CDC site. It contains world maps and a lot of updates. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/summary.html I will be gleaning this coming Saturday. I am not sure what we will be picking. Peppers and tomatoes are still in season. The work restructuring is not for sissies. I was on a call Thursday where a corporate VP actually said, “This will come together and we take over more departments.”. Talk about sensitivity! I know I picked the losing side when I did not accept the offer to supervise the catalog admin team (I would be reporting to the corporate folks), but I am glad I made that decision. I enjoy my job and am fortunate the division will keep me as long as they are able to do so. With things progressing the way they are I am not sure if the promotion will actually go through – we shall see. I am still hopeful and do feel the title will benefit me in the future when I have to hit the pavement and start a job search. My current plan is to stick with it until the end of the year so I can clean up my finances. I am currently updating my resume and starting to regularly log in to LinkedIn so I can start working on my network.
Katla – Sounds like a perfect me day. Cozying up with a good read. I had forgotten about the mothball trick – thank you for the reminder. Believe it or not when I had a nail fungus 100 years ago the podiatrist told me to put my shoes in a closed plastic bag with mothballs for a week to ten days to kill the fungus. My shoes did not smell great until the smell dissipated but it did save me a ton of money.
RV Rita – Good to see you are doing well and keeping busy.
Rebecca – Sorry to hear you are not feeling well.
February Wrap Up – I am 3.4 pounds lighter and should hit my initial goal of 40 pounds down this month. I averaged a little more than 6,000 steps per day so I hit goal there. Personal to-do list isn’t progressing as planned.
March Goals – Keep on keeping on. Hit initial weight-loss goal, average 6,000 steps per day, attempt to make half of those steps healthy ones (100 steps+ per minute), complete three to-do items on the list.
Hugs to all and prayers for those in need.
SuziQ – SFL4 -
Question ... I generally do not take vitamin supplements, but am interested in magnesium citrate as recommending by the intermittent fasting community for a variety of reasons (sleep, gut health, depression). I have no idea what brand of vitamins to use. What should I be looking for to guarantee as best I can that I'm actually getting the vitamin I desire?

Barbara Happy 70th birthday! Wishing you a year of good health and good times.
Barbie, thanks for the March thread.
A new month and what will it bring?... February flew by with so much happening. Legal finally was signed on February 27 and is over. My sister started her radiation daily Monday thru Friday, with a chemo infusion on thursdays. We had good times together while I visited with her and her husband as we got treatment schedules set up. Cheri is determined to enjoy each day as much as possible. She is an inspiration to me.
Goals for March are to log all food and meditate daily. I love the longer days and swear I can feel spring in the air.

Alfie looks like the Shaggy DA and will be going with Homer to the groomers Tuesday.. for there spring haircuts..

I'm happy to see so many familiar faces and so much enthusiasm for the beginning of a new month.
Betsy, Congrats on the completion of your legal hassles. I live near you and agree that spring is in the air. More daylight has added a new dimension to dog walking and a springy feel to the air has sent me outside for a brief weed pulling session in the afternoons.
Barbara, Happy Birthday.
My plans for today include getting out the dreaded vacuum and dealing with the dog and cat hair and stuff on the carpet.

Thanks Barbie for bringing us into March! I can not remember my word of the year! lol It is most likely something like "Focus", because it does feel like I am lacking in that area. Since the new year, I have felt increasingly "scattered". We haven't had much of a winter, so it feels like the busyness of spring is beginning and I haven't had my season of quiet and rest. That ball of work, family, change...just keeps rolling and I am running on top, trying to both keep moving forward and keep my balance.
Karen VA- lol Miguel is about 4 1/2 months old; so yep a few weeks before he will be six months. I am happy to say, that I snagged a couple of really cheap flight tickets to DFW out of Chicago. SO...I will be visiting the boys for Joaquin's third birthday weekend! Yea! My DYS, Colin, is going with me. Here are a couple of the latest pics of Joaquin and Miguel. In the side by side shot: Joaquin on the left, Miguel on the right (both pics taken at 3 months)
