Thanks for the video, nice to have as a reference.2 -
I' m in! Thank you, @GrandmaJackie!
69 years old female...5'5" ...I used to be 5'7" but arthritis hit and I lost two inches, so now that two inches is squished around my waist like the billows of a big accordion... ...Oh, well. I'll just keep working on it.
We used to walk 5 miles a day. A pinched nerve and back surgery side-lined me for about a year. Then I had back surgery. Then I had hip surgery March 10th. Recovery is slow. Sure do want to be back walking!
The Shelter in Place has everyone freaked. We need to remain calm and respectful of each other.

Day | Weight | Change | Comment
03/18 | 132.6kg | No change | Busy day at work and had visitors all evening/night. My mum came in to town ready to babysit my son today, so I picked my sister up on my way home from work and brought her to my place as well so we could all catch up. Later, my dad also decided to come into town but he didn't arrive until about 9:30pm. So it was a late dinner and a few beers, I was expecting a rise on the scale. On the bright side, I didn't snack after work and I didn't have dessert. Got all my water in, but no exercise. Hubby out of town for a day trip today, will see how shopping goes - we normally do an online order that he can just pick up, but they have cancelled that service at the moment so that is frustrating. Stay safe, everyone!
03/19 | 132.7kg | +0.1kg | Made homemade pizzas on wrap bases last night, they were delicious and much lighter than the normal dough bases I make, but I think my sodium was very high as a result (perhaps I should choose a more healthy topping than pepperoni...). Only drank 2L of water too so that also wouldn't help. No exercise as I'm still trying to shake this cold off. Our supermarket shelves were bare when I went yesterday afternoon - no TP, soaps, potatoes, bread, pasta, rice, tissues, canned vegetables, flour, ready-to-make packet meals, cheese, milk...nothing. This was Wednesday afternoon. Our store gets one delivery a week, on Tuesdays. So I don't expect to find anything on the shelves for the next week, which is ridiculous. What's happening, as the cities stock out, people are coming further and further out into the rural areas to wipe our shelves clean too. Their stores get deliveries daily, but they can't wait that long. I don't know what I'm going to feed my one year old toddler by the end of the week, unless they happen to get another delivery in (which they have to pay the freight for, so they won't do that as they don't make enough profit to cover it). I really don't understand how people can be so selfish. It's not a production issue, there is plenty of product available, it's just distribution is the issue - they can't keep the deliveries up to the stores because the demand is increasing exponentially! People are literally panicking over nothing. They're panicking because the media is telling them to. I wish the media would just stop covering all of this and just report the statistics and whereabouts of the virus, nothing more. It's so stupid, people being worried that something is going to stock out, so they buy as much as they can, causing it to stock out. If everyone just stuck to their normal buying, it wouldn't even be an issue but no, people are selfish and greedy.
Sorry for the rant, I'm just extremely frustrated with people.
03/20 | 133.1kg | +0.4kg | Wrong direction! It's just water weight, obviously, but I'm not sure what's caused it. Maybe sodium. I didn't drink enough water the last couple of days too. Feeling anxious and sad, and that leads to poor decisions for me usually. Hubby bought a lasagne for dinner last night, normally we would split it and eat half each, but I did split my share in half and ate it with a salad (bringing the leftovers for my lunch today with a salad). So that's another small win in the 'smaller portions' dinner plan.
03/21 | 133.3kg | +0.2kg
03/22 | 133.5kg | +0.2kg
03/23 | 133.5kg | No change | Sorry, I have been a bit AWOL this weekend. I just didn't get online to MFP at all, but I did keep weighing in. Weight still rising, which I know is from poor choices and overeating and anxiety and lack of sleep and no exercise whatsoever. I've gone off the rails with everything happening. I'm in Australia, and our state is just starting to close "non-essential" services as of today (so pubs, restaurants, clubs etc. - basically anywhere that people gather together because people have been ignoring the "social distancing" recommendations and have been packing into clubs and onto beaches). I'm not sure what this means for my work situation as I should be able to work from home, but it's all up in the air at the moment!
03/24 | 133.3kg | -0.2kg | Dropped some/all of the excess water weight so that's good. Still feeling extremely anxious, but went to bed at a good time last night and managed to get a good sleep which I think makes a huge difference. Still fighting this cold that doesn't seem to want to go away, will be interesting to see if I'm sent home from work or not. The policy is supposed to be to stay home if any symptoms, but last week I was told it was up to me. I asked my boss about working from home, he said it didn't sound promising but he'd ask. I'm waiting to hear back from him, but I'm really hoping it's a yes!

03/23 - 145.9 - We left early due to the virus issues. Packed uhaul Friday night and left at 4am Saturday. Unpacked house today and got vehicles registered (they're due in Kansas in April). Drivers license office closed but my license is good to 2024 anyway. It's been craaaaazy. But I love it so much already. Moved my start date up to Wednesday instead of Monday to try to beat some of the madness and get me in their system to start working (utilities, I'm essential).

Previous Day's Comments03/18 - I honestly forgot about it. I have an ick "head cold" (not the virus, its from the sudden change with allergies to/from TX). Just a slightly stuffy nose and some mucus that's drained to my throat. Woke up with cotton mouth and chugged water before I ever even got out of bed. Forgot I was going to weigh in today until I got out of bed a few minutes later. Oops! I think I know where my claritin is and I'm going in search of it through the packing madness in my house. Definitely need to focus on my water, I'm so dehydrated. My skin and body are showing it (like giving myself a bloody lip this AM when it cracked from dryness). I'm sure it'll also help with hunger as yesterday I could NOT be satisfied. I'd eat and still be hungry. It was madness. Today should be better, especially with water. Going to make some tea, as well, for caffeine since I already packed and moved my coffee pot. Body slowly adjusting to less and less caffeine throughout this, at least. I will weigh in 2 more days and then hopefully have a chance next week sometime once I start unpacking. I'd like to see some progress during this round, but only time will tell...
03/19 - I was afraid of this... So many carbs and a lot of mindless eating (including ice cream which bloats me like no other) and barely any water. Last day of work, they're taking me to lunch then I turn in my stuff. Still can't find my office keys. I swear they're in my office but I don't remember where and today is my only opportunity to look. Oh well. BF wants to pack the Uhaul Saturday morning and take off right after. Going to be a long day (even longer for him since he drives in Friday evening, that's a quick turnaround). Lots of stress. Lots of cleaning to do today. Taking the last of the packed items down so I can clean. I'm not looking forward to the cleaning of my kitchen. Really not that bad, just hate it.

03/18 - 164.7 I'm really losing track of my goals. I haven't worked out in 9 days and I completely binged out on snacks yesterday. I'm definitely in a downward spiral. I usually track my weeks from Sunday through Saturday which means I'd keep on this path and start fresh on Sunday. That's too long. I am starting fresh today. I can do this. Please help hold me accountable!
03/19 - 164.9 Wrong direction. I did get a workout in and stayed relatively close to my calorie goal. Going to workout today and stay under my calorie goal!
03/20 - 164.9 Well I got a workout in however I went WAY over my calorie goal. On the bright side, I ate all the snacks in my house so I have no more temptations. As long as I break even this round I'll be happy.
03/21 - 164.0 Getting close to breaking even! My SO offered to go get me my fav snacks while practicing social distancing and renting and watching The Invisible Man at home. Guess what, I said no! I would not have been able to use portion control and it was past my eating period.
03/22 - 163.1 FINALLY back on track towards my goals!
03/23 - 162.3 Very proud. Trying to stay positive through this Pandemic.

Looking forward:
- March: I need to focus on getting back to where I was pre-Christmas
- 2020: Goal is to stabilise weight around 145
- Strengthen strategies to reframe the tendency to use unhealthy snack food as a reward/treat.
- Make sure I have prepared healthy snacks available
- Cut down on eating between meals
Back Story:2018:2020
My goal was to get down below 160, to allow me to enjoy the indulgences of holidays and celebrations.
2019:
I exceeded that and have been below 150 for most of the last 2 months.
In 2018, I put on 10 lbs over the last 2 months of the year.
In 2019, I consistently lost weight since the end of July. I put on about 4lbs over the Christmas break, but was still below my original 2019 goal.
That's a WIN in my book!
Focus: maintenance! I might even manage to lose a bit more ever so slowly.

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

JGMTD Round 108 (30 for me)
Sorry for disappearing last round. There were so many changes to adjust to, and I never seemed to be able to get a post together. I went from being busy packing for a trip to see my son to being even busier cancelling travel arrangements, gearing up for teaching all of my courses online, picking up a few supplies, checking in with family, and keeping up with daily developments. More recently, I’ve been self-isolating (except for solitary walks outdoors), teaching online, and figuring this new reality one day at a time.

Day/Weight/Comment
03/18 – 165.8 – Starting this round in a good place. Although I didn’t post last round, I managed weigh in and meet my calorie and exercise goals most days. Today was a pretty good day, despite the grim news reports and increasing restrictions. My online class went pretty well and I met my goals. I’m finding stability in the habits I’ve developed and serenity in my outdoor walks.
03/19 – 164.6 – After a rainy start to the day, the weather cleared and I got out for a walk again, tackling a more rugged trail to get my heart rate up. I’m glad the parks are still open, although I don’t know how long that will last. Got a few chores done, but much of the day was spent addressing online teaching issues and providing long-distance support for stressed family members. My sleep schedule is totally shot, but I’ve been pushing myself to fix simple, reasonably healthy meals and to stay hydrated. Glad to have the structure of these challenges to help me stay grounded.
03/20 – 164.6 – Unseasonably warm, but such a delight to get out in short sleeves and enjoy the weather. I skipped most of the chores and took the dog for a long walk in the park. Did well on calories but a little under on hydration.
03/21 – 163.4 – Slept in and slightly dehydrated, so I think this number is misleading. Managed a short, chilly walk in the park with my husband and just squeaked in under my calorie limit. Didn’t get much work done today. I had a nice, long phone conversation with my son and saw my daughter briefly, although at a 6+ foot distance, since I’m the support person for my mom. Things are ramping up very fast in NJ. Today we got our “stay at home” order, with most non-essential businesses closed and all gatherings banned. Fortunately, the parks are still open.
03/22 – 164.4 – Rain all day, so no walk. I was up early, so I managed to book a grocery delivery and ordered a few fresh items. Met my calorie and hydration goals but didn’t get much done. I haven’t been particularly hungry or motivated lately – guess I shouldn’t be surprised with all that’s going on. Looking forward to some sun and warmer temperatures tomorrow.

03/17 …..200.4….. ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND
03/18 …..200.4….. Michigan has gone crazy. In 48 hours we have went from 2 cases to 110. 25 of those cases in the last 2 hours. I’ve cancelled all my non-essential dr appointments as requested by our governor. Business in my motel & cabins is down to zero as it’s not recommended for folks to travel. This morning we had our first Coronavirus death in Michigan-a male in his 50’s. They’ve closed the borders between Michigan and Canada as a joint effort between countries and that includes our Detroit entrance. If I put on the 24 hour news stations (CNN or FoxNews) it just about scares me to death. So I am going to try to check in and stay informed but use my time for some much needed projects that I should get done while I have the time. So far, no cases within 100 miles of me. That is how far our closest hospital basically is. I plan on going out only when I have to at this point. I am a high-risk individual-turning 60, diabetic and in remission with cancer. Better safe than sorry. For myself, but for all others as well. On the diet front, at this point I am just watching my quantities and putting more thought into the best course. Stay safe everyone!
03/19 …..200.8 ….. My grandson (age 3) is being taken to the nearest hospital (pretty far) to be looked at today. He is really sick with high fever, dry cough etc. They have a triage set up outside the hospital. You call inside when you get there and they test temp at your vehicle and see if anything warrants a test since the kits are scarce. Hopefully it is just normal seasonal sickness as we are still in the full throws of winter here (it snowed yesterday). On the diet front I am struggling and feel very scattered about what to eat. I am working on it. I am trying hard to increase movement inside this tiny cabin (my living room will not even fit a 5x7 rug between the couch on one side and the chair on another). Also, my motel office is at my entry and there is usually constant interruption (things, however, are going a bit slow now except for those already here). I usually have to leave to get privacy or 20 minutes straight. I’m going to look up the Leslie Sansone walking programs today and see if I can get the wi-fi to get to my living room. It is horrible here in my area. Keeping fingers crossed as walking is what works best for me & my health! If nothing else, I will dance. Not much in the line of radio stations here, but I have Alexa and I turn her up to reach my livingroom and pray no one comes to the door. LOL Stay safe everyone!
03/20 …..201.3 ….. I’m losing the game here by dropping the ball. Gotta start putting more thought into this again instead of news channels, texts and phone calls in regards to the virus which is taking up every spare minute of my time. I’ve already blown today but I can still make changes starting TONIGHT, NOT TOMORROW. In Michigan news, more deaths and more cases being reported. My local area still very short on supplies including bread, eggs, flour and many shelf staple goods but considering we only have one grocery store and we are no where near a freeway (for easy truck access) it is actually not too bad. Traveling to the big box stores like Walmart, I am hearing, is still a waste of time, people still hoarding. I am not in the habit of using much bread for myself, mainly my son. However, I still have some stock of all-purpose and self-rising flour left here from before if I need it. I got a double waffle maker to try chaffles for Christmas and I haven't used it yet. I can't get shredded cheese but I can shred my own if I can find it in block. I may try that in the next few days. I have been excited to see what chaffles taste like and how they will affect my overall plan. I have heard they are a game changer.
03/21 …..202.1 ….. Yesterday afternoon’s transgressions showed up on the scale this morning. Last night was much better. I may try some protein shakes. I am hoping I can get unsweetened almond milk to keep the calories and carbs down. I am hoping my SIL can pick me some up from the local grocery store and put it in the front seat of my car. I am trying to lay low. My son & I are feeling great and want to keep it that way. Last night I prep cooked some keto friendly meatloaf. Oh so good! I am freezing part of it. Today I will be making a spaghetti squash lasagna to freeze. I will also be making and freezing egg roll in a bowl as I have all the ingredients I need for it. If I can cut two meals with the protein shakes, eat my frozen keto meals and stick to my approved snacks then maybe I can turn this train around. I hope you are all doing well. I am saying my prayers and thinking of you all and your families. hugs
03/22 …..202.0 ….. Prep cooked yesterday so dinners are under control for the most part. Low supplies are making the sides difficult. Now, I just have to watch any other meals and snacks. I am hoping that today will be even better than yesterday. On the home front, today I have to get out there and clean 5 cabins and I am a nervous wreck about the possible germs. Of course, I will take every precaution but still……..I have found that neighbors and townsfolk are starting to call and ask if I have gloves, bleach, Lysol, toilet paper etc. that they can buy off me or that I can share with their family. They expect I will have those products in a motel situation, honestly, people are thinking of anything they can to keep themselves safe. I wish I could share with everyone but my suppliers have dried up so I have to be cautious. I am trying to help/share with my adult kids / family and closest friends. However, if I run out of supplies I have to close my business. And, I have to remain diligent in protecting the public when they come to my place of business. Business and revenue has slowed for sure, but is still going on. What a sad state our world is in right now. I know other countries and other US states are faring much worse than northern Michigan. Prayers to you all. Our best defense is staying as healthy as we can. Today I will try to find the time for some additional indoor movement.
03/23 …..201.7 ….. a bit better. Michigan is on complete lock-down except for grocery/pharmacy type essentials. All non-essential businesses are closed. I am still trying to find out if that includes my motels and cabins. I think we may remain essential since forestry, tree service workers and construction etc still need rooms and they are still working. I put a call into the governors office and am awaiting the answer. In the meantime, I still have people here though business has slowed. This feels like a very scary movie. If you are still working (in an essential job) you must have the paper in your car proving it to law enforcement. Still no flour, milk, bread, yeast or hundreds of other things available in my area. Hunkering down as much as I can. I hope you are all staying well.

Day/Weight/Comment
03/18 134.4 – 7.08 miles walked yesterday, met up with sisters for afternoon tea.
03/19 134.2 – rain all day yesterday meant only managed to walk 4.83 miles, kept eating well under control though so 218 calories in credit, but carbs over.
03/20 134.2 – 6.47 miles walked yesterday. C-19 ? Biggest problem here in my area of the UK is stupid people stockpiling, shelves are cleared of TP, nappies, long life milk, flour, pasta, rice, long life milk, frozen veggies, basically anything with a long shelf life!! WHY ?? If everyone just shops as normal there is plenty for everyone. Schools shut for everyone except children of key workers from end of today. All over 70's are self isolating for 12 weeks & all public gatherings have been stopped. I am standing by and prepared to help with fetching & carrying, walking dogs etc. for anyone self isolating – I've not been called on yet. I think it's the media's approach that is causing the panics, so there have been minimum deaths so far here, far less than from other ailments, so why stockpile? Luckily, we're not on lock down; if I couldn't get out and walk I would go crazy, I really hope it doesn't come to that!!! Stay calm everyone and shop as normal.
03/21 134.8 – 5.5 miles walked yesterday, spent majority of day at my elderly housebound & in early stages of dementia MIL's, took her some essential supplies to find her just sitting in her chair staring at a blank TV screen. “They've switched our electricity off, have they switched yours off?” She had not had a hot drink or eaten although she does have cold food available there. So after checking the neighbours was on, using their microwave to give her a hot meal and cup of tea, I started to try to get the power back on. Made some phone calls to power company and BIL & finally established that the cooker socket was tripping out the power. All this took time, but so glad to get everything back on. Gently chastised her to phone us if it happens again, but as she is stone deaf & has lost her hearing aids !!!!! She was due to be reassessed for new ones yesterday, but the home appointment was cancelled as she is in the very vulnerable group. She also will not accept any carers & lots of help of us her family too, she gets very annoyed at us thinking we are interfering and taking her independence away, thing is she is not capable of doing much anyway it's like walking on eggshells and very frustrating as we really want to help!
03/22 134.8 – 8.46 miles walked yesterday locally in lovely spring sunshine even if it was a little nippy! Happy Mother's day to all other mothers out there, stay safe and keep washing your hands. Meeting up with my DD, SIL & GSs at a park where we can safely meet up – at the required metre distance! It's our GS's 2nd birthday tomorrow. Our DS is in self isolation after siting next to a colleague at the start of last week with suspected but unconfirmed C-19, so only phone contact with him at the moment . Thankfully he's not showing any symptoms. Crazy crazy times.
03/23 134.8 – 7.3 miles walked. A totally different & bizarre Mother's day yesterday, DS 'phoned from his self isolation, met our DD & family outdoors in the spring sunshine, we each took a picnic; they sat on one bench, we sat on another!!
03/24 134 – 11.39 miles walked yesterday, 821 calories in credit and all other macros in green – a good day yesterday.:). So we in the UK are in lock down, luckily we are allowed to go out once a day to exercise, so I shall have to do my walking all in one go. I wanted to do my bit to help feed the nation and as I am fit & healthy, but not working, so at the weekend I put my name forward at our local supermarket for a temp. contract to re-stock shelves and have an interview this am; however, my DH expressed his concerns at me being more exposed to potential carriers of the virus & we have his elderly very vulnerable DM that we have to give regular care & attention to – she refuses to have carers in, Upshot is that I have agreed that I will cancel the interview, I am disappointed but we have to think of our families health too, he is being sensible. At least I shall be giving blood this pm, so still doing my bit for the community. When will this end? So worrying, keep safe everyone.

Day/Weight/Comment
03/18 - 156.1 - Almost gave up on trying anymore yesterday, so much work and effort for such slow results. Re-motivated today.
03/19 - 155.4 - Slept in today, that likely helped with the scale.
03/20 - 156.5 - Ribs. I had better not have them again for 3 months.
03/21 - 157.2 - The rise continues. Not as motivated right now. My workouts have been on point, but not my eating.
03/22 - 157.8 - I had better try and get rid of this.
03/23 - 156.6 - Better. Continuing to burn lots of calories through exercise/hiking each day, back to moderating food.
03/24 - 156.0 - Back on track. Much harder to take off than put on.

Day/Weight/Comment
3/18 158.6lbs, 34.0%bf; 6h49m/74 - Rough night... hope to keep to as normal a schedule as possible.
3/19 157.6lbs, 33.8%bf; 7h57m/89 - much better!
3/20 158.1lbs, 33.9%bf; 6h20m/73 - working from home is entirely too sedentary.... I need to get it in gear!
3/21 156.4lbs, 33.4%bf; 8h14m/87 - don't ever underestimate the value of decent sleep for weight loss. Going to have to venture out today... I don't HAVE to have almond milk for my protein shakes, but I'd prefer to maintain some civility in my life during this insane time... and water shakes just make me sad. LOL
3/22 157.4lbs, 33.7%bf; 6h3m/79 - and I prove my own point about the importance of sleep... LOL.
3/23 157.6lbs, 33.7%bf; 5h13m/69 (nice!) - weirdness continues and still feeling off balance. Haven't eaten my way through everything in the house, though, so YAY!
3/24 157.2lbs, 33.6% bf; 6h15m/82 - struggling with motivation. My inherent lazy is stepping up in a big way, right now. So, diet is more important than ever!

3/18- 154.8 back to where I was at the beginning of the last round. Hanging in there. Just need to keep the snacking in check working from home for the next month.
3/19- 154.4 Pleased. Rode yesterday, did HIIT. Enjoying the extra time with the kids even if work productivity is taking a hit and managing them is stressful. Finding a routine. Played evening games and are starting a big puzzle.
3/20- 155.4 Yeah, even though I had a good run yesterday I ate back all my exercise calories and I don't think I was really tracking carefully enough.
3/21-156 This working from home thing is going to kill my progress. It's too, too easy to snack and then I've been baking fun things since my daughter wants to and I admit I enjoy both the baking and eating part. Ugh. I have to find a way to stay on track...
3/22- 154.8 I should hope so. I rode/walked Frosty for more than 2 hours yesterday on the rail trail. I have to get hay today and I'll try to get a ride in too.
3/23- 154.2 I'm happy with this. I was super active this weekend. Riding, running, loading and unloading hay and I ate decently as kids were at their dad's. Weekends normally wreck me so I'm proud of myself for losing over a weekend for once. Small changes.
3/24- 154.8 I didn't track at all yesterday. Just trying to manage week 2 working from home and homeschooling kids. They are hard to keep on task, but we'll get there. Did a big bike ride with them in the evening so that was fun if chilly.8 -

03/18: 177.6 (A nice 2 lb drop from yesterday! I did an at home Zumba class from what I remember during the at person one using Spotify. I made a delicious dinner and tried to release some stress. I’m still going to work since they haven’t shut down and I don’t see them doing it unless the governor does it for the whole state. We’ll see! Taking it day by day!)
03/19: 178.8 (I’m super sore from my workouts at home! This weight gain is only temporary since I’ve completely changed the way I workout. I did another YouTube workout and ate to plan.)
03/20: 177.6 (I didn’t work out yesterday like I was supposed to and ate out of plan by having 2 mini brownies. I’m so stressed out because my husband has been ordered to not work and thankfully I work for an essential business so half of our normal income will come through just fine. My husband has to file from unemployment today and we’ll see how much he gets. It’s gonna be a struggle, but I’m grateful that I’ll have enough money for essentials. I need another mental health day, so I will be staying at home like we’ve been ordered to (I usually have every other Friday off so my weekend has started) and organizing my bathroom. I’ll see if I get a workout in today even though I have another rest day I can use from now til Sunday. Best of luck everyone!)
03/21: 178.8 (My hubby and I ordered some takeout from a nearby Mexican restaurant and it definitely hit the spot! We’re taking full advantage of Postmates on the weekend. I didn’t do a workout yesterday but I got approved to work from home so I’ll be doing that next week. Only time we’re really gonna go outside is when we need to go to the grocery store. Hubby is going right now to see if there are eggs anywhere. We only have 3 left and there’s a shortage!)
03/22: 180.6 (I made some lasagna last night and that was so good! Did a YouTube workout as well and relaxed as much as possible!)
03/23: 180.0 (Yesterday I decided to organize my bathroom shelves and linen closet. I threw so many products away that were close to empty or ever used. It was so therapeutic to get rid of a lot of stuff. I did a YouTube workout and ate some leftovers. Overall it was a good day.)
03/24: 178.6 (Had a normal day at work and did another YouTube workout. Hubby put the crockpot on for dinner and I did not have to cook anything last night. Those are my favorite kind of meals!)

In a weird way I’m fine with holding steady within a pound of 180 for the past 5 weeks. I’m no longer gaining as I was, my metabolism is settling down, and I’m getting a good sense of what my maintenance calories really are. I haven’t been exercising much but as the weather warms up I’ll get back to walking long distances and I’m planning to expand one garden and plant a new herb garden (assuming the nurseries are open), so that will help. I also have some house painting (inside) left to do, so if I can keep my calories steady, I should start to lose again. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Now to shake this stupid cold! I hope you’re all finding ways to stay calm and healthy and in touch through these chaotic times.

How’s everyone doing? I’m trying to keep busy with my work (writing) and things I’ve put off for ages (sorting photos, going through clothes for what no longer pleases...). I’ve been trying to talk to one or two friends every day on the phone — social media are great, but we need to hear voices. I was going to teach a couple of writing classes this spring and summer, but they’re cancelled, of course, so I’m setting them up to teach online and hoping that will be productive for everyone involved. I’m looking forward to warmer weather so I can play in my garden. I’d love to hear what others are doing to stay healthy and as happy as possible during these difficult times.

All things considered, okay. I did get out for a walk yesterday morning — it was 64 degrees F and lovely. Then the wind came up and the temp dropped 25 degrees by noon! Whoa! And now it’s trying to snow. Harumph. Oddly, even though we’re stuck at home I’m not snacking, and we are eating healthily. I’m a bit stir crazy but having a sinus headache that makes me go to bed for a while has helped — make lemonade, right? Last week I found a gorgeous Bassett entertainment center in a second hand store and it was delivered yesterday — see picture. We’re adding shelves inside — lots of storage space! I hope you’re all finding creative, loving ways to ride this out. Stay healthy!

Happy Sunday, everyone. If there’s an upside to our current situation, it’s time to do some of the things I’ve been putting off. Yesterday I cleaned out my “baking drawer” in the fridge — the spilled flour had been calling me for a while. Also went through everything, tossed a couple of things that were wayyyyy past their use-by dates, and wrote dates on the others in big fat numbers I can’t miss. It all looks so much tidier, cleaner, and more inviting! I hope you’re all finding things to do that make you happy.

Monday, Monday.... I over did it a little yesterday — all healthy, but.... I’m trying to let go of a stupid cold and I think NyQuil might make me retain a little water. Off to work (down the hall, into my office...). Stay well, everyone!

I indulged in some butterscotch chips yesterday — that’s right, the chips straight from the bag. They were worth it! But I’m resisting their pull today. Off to do some actual work.👩💻 I hope you’re all finding things for which to be grateful amid the chaos and restrictions. I’m writing down at least one thing each day. Today I am grateful to have a warm home to shelter my DH and Mike the cat and me.

I believe it’s stress. I’m a nurse and on the front lines in the er and icu . So far no corona in our hospital but it’s still stressful. I am getting a hip replacement on the 25 th so more stress but I’m continuing to try to stay on plan.

well the surgery is now off. I was waiting for the other shoe to drop. I have to call my short term disability and rescind that and get back to work. We are tentatively scheduled for May 6. My surgeon felt bad but it’s out of his hands. Our hospital system has 28 hospitals and over 750 icu beds and not one patient with the virus but the government is forcing them too. I do understand but having none on bone pain and knowing I have to endure another 5 weeks just stinks.
