03/18 134.4 – 7.08 miles walked yesterday, met up with sisters for afternoon tea.
03/19 134.2 – rain all day yesterday meant only managed to walk 4.83 miles, kept eating well under control though so 218 calories in credit, but carbs over.
03/20 134.2 – 6.47 miles walked yesterday. C-19 ? Biggest problem here in my area of the UK is stupid people stockpiling, shelves are cleared of TP, nappies, long life milk, flour, pasta, rice, long life milk, frozen veggies, basically anything with a long shelf life!! WHY ?? If everyone just shops as normal there is plenty for everyone. Schools shut for everyone except children of key workers from end of today. All over 70's are self isolating for 12 weeks & all public gatherings have been stopped. I am standing by and prepared to help with fetching & carrying, walking dogs etc. for anyone self isolating – I've not been called on yet. I think it's the media's approach that is causing the panics, so there have been minimum deaths so far here, far less than from other ailments, so why stockpile? Luckily, we're not on lock down; if I couldn't get out and walk I would go crazy, I really hope it doesn't come to that!!! Stay calm everyone and shop as normal.
03/21 134.8 – 5.5 miles walked yesterday, spent majority of day at my elderly housebound & in early stages of dementia MIL's, took her some essential supplies to find her just sitting in her chair staring at a blank TV screen. “They've switched our electricity off, have they switched yours off?” She had not had a hot drink or eaten although she does have cold food available there. So after checking the neighbours was on, using their microwave to give her a hot meal and cup of tea, I started to try to get the power back on. Made some phone calls to power company and BIL & finally established that the cooker socket was tripping out the power. All this took time, but so glad to get everything back on. Gently chastised her to phone us if it happens again, but as she is stone deaf & has lost her hearing aids !!!!! She was due to be reassessed for new ones yesterday, but the home appointment was cancelled as she is in the very vulnerable group. She also will not accept any carers & lots of help of us her family too, she gets very annoyed at us thinking we are interfering and taking her independence away, thing is she is not capable of doing much anyway
it's like walking on eggshells and very frustrating as we really want to help!
03/22 134.8 – 8.46 miles walked yesterday locally in lovely spring sunshine even if it was a little nippy! Happy Mother's day to all other mothers out there, stay safe and keep washing your hands. Meeting up with my DD, SIL & GSs at a park where we can safely meet up – at the required metre distance! It's our GS's 2nd birthday tomorrow. Our DS is in self isolation after siting next to a colleague at the start of last week with suspected but unconfirmed C-19, so only phone contact with him at the moment. Thankfully he's not showing any symptoms. Crazy crazy times.
03/23 134.8 – 7.3 miles walked. A totally different & bizarre Mother's day yesterday, DS 'phoned from his self isolation, met our DD & family outdoors in the spring sunshine, we each took a picnic; they sat on one bench, we sat on another!!
03/24 134 – 11.39 miles walked yesterday, 821 calories in credit and all other macros in green – a good day yesterday.:). So we in the UK are in lock down, luckily we are allowed to go out once a day to exercise, so I shall have to do my walking all in one go. I wanted to do my bit to help feed the nation and as I am fit & healthy, but not working, so at the weekend I put my name forward at our local supermarket for a temp. contract to re-stock shelves and have an interview this am; however, my DH expressed his concerns at me being more exposed to potential carriers of the virus & we have his elderly very vulnerable DM that we have to give regular care & attention to – she refuses to have carers in, Upshot is that I have agreed that I will cancel the interview, I am disappointed but we have to think of our families health too, he is being sensible. At least I shall be giving blood this pm, so still doing my bit for the community. When will this end? So worrying, keep safe everyone.
03/25 133.6 – 9.3 miles walked yesterday, outside was very quiet – everyone crossing the street if they met anyone to more than keep the obligatory distance apart, other than when I gave blood, obviously impossible to keep a distance when the blood carer is taking the blood! But all other precautions taken and constantly wiping everything down with anti-bac wipes. More obvious police patrols. Calories 413 in credit & all other macros in green.

I believe it’s stress. I’m a nurse and on the front lines in the er and icu . So far no corona in our hospital but it’s still stressful. I am getting a hip replacement on the 25 th so more stress but I’m continuing to try to stay on plan.

well the surgery is now off. I was waiting for the other shoe to drop. I have to call my short term disability and rescind that and get back to work. We are tentatively scheduled for May 6. My surgeon felt bad but it’s out of his hands. Our hospital system has 28 hospitals and over 750 icu beds and not one patient with the virus but the government is forcing them too. I do understand but having none on bone pain and knowing I have to endure another 5 weeks just stinks.

03/25 248.2. Glad it’s dropping. Today would have been my surgery for getting my hip fixed. Thanks covid 😡. We are tentatively scheduled for April 29 . It could be earlier but as soon as the ban is lifted I’m my surgeons first case. So I can’t take my nsaids just Tylenol which is not cutting it. I plan on sticking with my healthy eating because that is the only thing I can control at this point.

3/19- 154.4 Pleased. Rode yesterday, did HIIT. Enjoying the extra time with the kids even if work productivity is taking a hit and managing them is stressful. Finding a routine. Played evening games and are starting a big puzzle.
3/20- 155.4 Yeah, even though I had a good run yesterday I ate back all my exercise calories and I don't think I was really tracking carefully enough.
3/21-156 This working from home thing is going to kill my progress. It's too, too easy to snack and then I've been baking fun things since my daughter wants to and I admit I enjoy both the baking and eating part. Ugh. I have to find a way to stay on track...
3/22- 154.8 I should hope so. I rode/walked Frosty for more than 2 hours yesterday on the rail trail. I have to get hay today and I'll try to get a ride in too.
3/23- 154.2 I'm happy with this. I was super active this weekend. Riding, running, loading and unloading hay and I ate decently as kids were at their dad's. Weekends normally wreck me so I'm proud of myself for losing over a weekend for once. Small changes.
3/24- 154.8 I didn't track at all yesterday. Just trying to manage week 2 working from home and homeschooling kids. They are hard to keep on task, but we'll get there. Did a big bike ride with them in the evening so that was fun if chilly.
3/25- 154.4 I don't feel like I've been jumping around insanely like I was in the past. I hope that means my body is adjusting to this new weight. I only have 4 pounds to go. It seems like so little, but I think I'm OK with it taking a few weeks to get there. I haven't been tracking carefully, too busy with homeschooling kids and working and trying to get them out for bike rides and such so we stay mentally happy too. I need another mental health day, so I will be staying at home like we’ve been ordered to (I usually have every other Friday off so my weekend has started) and organizing my bathroom. 03/18 - 164.7 I'm really losing track of my goals. I haven't worked out in 9 days and I completely binged out on snacks yesterday. I'm definitely in a downward spiral. I usually track my weeks from Sunday through Saturday which means I'd keep on this path and start fresh on Sunday. That's too long. I am starting fresh today. I can do this. Please help hold me accountable!
03/19 - 164.9 Wrong direction. I did get a workout in and stayed relatively close to my calorie goal. Going to workout today and stay under my calorie goal!
03/20 - 164.9 Well I got a workout in however I went WAY over my calorie goal. On the bright side, I ate all the snacks in my house so I have no more temptations. As long as I break even this round I'll be happy.
03/21 - 164.0 Getting close to breaking even! My SO offered to go get me my fav snacks while practicing social distancing and renting and watching The Invisible Man at home. Guess what, I said no! I would not have been able to use portion control and it was past my eating period.

I don't want to get political but at least here, many snowbirds are coming back and they are not quarantining at all, they are excited to see neighbors they have not seen all winter. The weather is getting nicer, so the farmers are getting restless, they are working on machinery, taking them selves places to prepare for springs work. The governor here is just trying to get them to stay put a little bit longer and then you can go out, just a couple more weeks will buy some more time for the hospitals to prepare for increased cases, just look what a week has done for our country, otherwise if this is going to be drawn out they will become even worse right now about disregarding the quarantine and once our older population does, the kids will too and I think that is the message trying to be conveyed. A little something to look forward too. We know the US is not use to being told what to do and to stay home, we are actually kind of spoiled. It's like telling your kid to just do your homework a little while longer and then school is out. Just my thoughts, the virus isn't going away, and a year to 18 months is a long time to dodge it until a vaccine.

In a weird way I’m fine with holding steady within a pound of 180 for the past 5 weeks. I’m no longer gaining as I was, my metabolism is settling down, and I’m getting a good sense of what my maintenance calories really are. I haven’t been exercising much but as the weather warms up I’ll get back to walking long distances and I’m planning to expand one garden and plant a new herb garden (assuming the nurseries are open), so that will help. I also have some house painting (inside) left to do, so if I can keep my calories steady, I should start to lose again. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Now to shake this stupid cold! I hope you’re all finding ways to stay calm and healthy and in touch through these chaotic times.

How’s everyone doing? I’m trying to keep busy with my work (writing) and things I’ve put off for ages (sorting photos, going through clothes for what no longer pleases...). I’ve been trying to talk to one or two friends every day on the phone — social media are great, but we need to hear voices. I was going to teach a couple of writing classes this spring and summer, but they’re cancelled, of course, so I’m setting them up to teach online and hoping that will be productive for everyone involved. I’m looking forward to warmer weather so I can play in my garden. I’d love to hear what others are doing to stay healthy and as happy as possible during these difficult times.

All things considered, okay. I did get out for a walk yesterday morning — it was 64 degrees F and lovely. Then the wind came up and the temp dropped 25 degrees by noon! Whoa! And now it’s trying to snow. Harumph. Oddly, even though we’re stuck at home I’m not snacking, and we are eating healthily. I’m a bit stir crazy but having a sinus headache that makes me go to bed for a while has helped
— make lemonade, right? Last week I found a gorgeous Bassett entertainment center in a second hand store and it was delivered yesterday — see picture. We’re adding shelves inside — lots of storage space! I hope you’re all finding creative, loving ways to ride this out. Stay healthy!

Happy Sunday, everyone. If there’s an upside to our current situation, it’s time to do some of the things I’ve been putting off. Yesterday I cleaned out my “baking drawer” in the fridge — the spilled flour had been calling me for a while. Also went through everything, tossed a couple of things that were wayyyyy past their use-by dates, and wrote dates on the others in big fat numbers I can’t miss. It all looks so much tidier, cleaner, and more inviting! I hope you’re all finding things to do that make you happy.

3/21 254.4 I’m glad to be back down I had a high sodium lunch, which sometimes gives me a bounce up. I also hit ovulation time according to my health app, so I’ll see if I hold or manage to drop. Sometimes if I’m really careful I can still see a drop or two, but usually I hold or bounce around.
3/22 254.0 New low, yay! It’s been a bit since I’ve been able to say that and I’m so glad that I didn’t give in to the want to eat yesterday.
3/23 253.4 Yay for the continuing downward trend. I wanted to eat to eat again yesterday and I finally had a couple of spoonfuls of ice cream and a small amount of chocolate milk. I didn’t binge though and thankfully it helped a lot. I’m really proud of myself for sticking to just a couple of bites and not letting it spiral out of control.

3/18: 139.0 (+.2) – This next several months will be challenging as we are all having to change our daily realities, activities, eating, etc. The more we can talk about it the better. I went to my small gym today (at a private club so its still open but they are limiting it to 10 people at a time. Thankfully I was by myself, and rode the bike for an hour and rowed for 10 min. I miss running and walking as I need fresh air. But I am determined to heal the hip and keep on keeping on. Everyone hang in there.😘

No testing available either. He will just have to deal….sent him some stuff yesterday so hopefully he stays mild and can rest and stay in for a week and be over it.😑

03/21 120.5 Apparently I’m more distracted than I had realized. I keep forgetting to make my daily post after I make comments. Yesterday I sat in our courtyard and enjoyed the sun and 59 degree afternoon.
03/22 121.5 A touch of stress eating I think. 7 saltines with butter last night. I have started a diary of our doings and goings on since earlier this month.

03/24 120.0 This lockdown is tough. My husband swears it’s been 2 weeks instead of the one it actually has been. I have caved to the desire of that hot end slice of homemade bread and the loaf is almost ready to come out of the oven.

03/18 - 361.8 - Good news. My interview on Monday went well. Better news. I have applied for several positions with state (PA) and federal gov't. One position with the state just got back to me and said I scored a 100 on their test. Now I'm just a bit excited. Getting a job with either means I can use my time in the Air Force towards retirement. I'll have to work until I'm 72, but hey... it does take a huge weight off my shoulders. Bittersweet news... My mom has lived with me for the past 20+ years. We recently found out she has early stage dementia. But the state is saying she now qualifies for in-home health care. Which means that while I am at work, someone will be here most of that time. This would be another huge weight off my shoulders. I had to reset my scale and it jumped up. Not happy, but let's see how it goes for the next few day.
03/19 - 360.9 - At a time where the coronavirus is virtually collapsing our economy, I got offered a job yesterday. I just have to pass the background check. As long as my previous employers are honest, I'll be fine. I guess the stress was slowing my weightloss, since I'm down almost a pound. The real barometer is if it continues. Time will tell. Also got my payout from my 6-month DietBet. I put in $175 and got out $176.30. Yup, a whopping $1.30 of winnings. Needless to say, I won't be doing that again. And that's a cautionary tale for anyone interested/considering participating.
03/20 - 359.4 - And downward we go. Back under 360 and I hope it stays that way.
03/21 - 359.3 - Slowly we continue. As long as I'm level or dropping, I'm ok.
03/22 - 359.1 - Starting to exercise from home. I liked going to the gym because if I drove there, I seemed to be more invested. I know I have to exercise, even if I sometimes fight myself. Downward we go!
03/23 - 358.0 - I think I'm solidly under 360 now. And a little roadmark... I'm now down over 20% of the total weight I want to drop. And I'm a little ahead since I've now reached my goal for this round.
03/24 - 358.4 - A small tick back. Not a problem, since the downward trend still holds.
03/25 - 357.7 - Seems that when I consistently drink ACV, my weight # goes down. 45 lbs. down. While I have been hired for one job, my dream job was to get a state or federal job and use my time in the Air Force (8 years) towards a retirement. In the past few days I've gotten great test scores back from the state and been referred for a federal job with the VA close to my home. I'm hoping this is that ray of sun through all the clouds. But like this long-term weight loss journey, those jobs are slower to the actual finish line. If anyone works for their state (mine is PA) or federal gov't, any advice is certainly appreciated. I don't want to get too excited, but... I am!

3/18 192.2 Happy to start with a loss! Am down and blue this morning—didn’t sleep well, my daughter was laid off with the rest of her company, so this at least is something nice to think about. Working hard to get exercise in and keep calories green. Can’t let the blues mess with progress...
3/19 192.2 Happy to stick with the lower weight and not bounce up. So far sticking to the program but struggling with feeling burned out by all the firefighting and emotional support I have to put out there.
3/20 192.2 Exact same weight again. Realistically I’m doing the exact same things—eating green, exercising—but I’m also out of routine with this working at home and have a higher level of anxiety as reflected in a rising average resting heart rate. So I’m ok with maintaining—my goal is to be compassionate with myself right now. Compassionate by being healthy, but not harsh.
3/21 DNW—away from scale
3/22 191.4 Yay, a loss! Was worried about the salty pot roast last night and not much vegetables.
3/23 191.4 Kept the loss, happy with that. Started omega oil pills last night—nauseous this morning and didn’t get in my run. Wondering if it’s related.
3/24 191.4 was hoping for a little more off, but ‘twas not to be...at least no gain. I developed a sore shin yesterday, may have to stick to the exercise bike for a little while to rest it. Never feel like I work out as hard on the bike...I should look up some videos to keep it interesting.
3/25 192.0 I’m guessing hormonal fluctuations. Or else because 40 minutes on the bike in the evening is not as helpful to metabolism as a walk in the morning! No good reason otherwise for an uptick, was green for calories.
