Well, today was day 1 of online teaching for me as a middle school science teacher and online learning for my 2 boys (8th grade & 5th grade). To say it was stressful is putting it mildly. I totally give props to those parents who are working outside the home and still have to somehow help their kids do their school work. My 8th grader is pretty self sufficient, but my 5th grader is not (has an IEP and school is HARD). So I spent the first 3 hours of my day responding to student messages as best I could while teaching my son his outlined work today. By lunchtime I was exhausted and was actually happy there's not a bunch of junk food in my house! I rested, ate a salad, had some caffeine and now I'm ready to tackle the afternoon. (Thank goodness my kids finished their work so now I can focus on my job!) With all this craziness going on, today was my official weigh-in day. I was a bit worried because I made chocolate chip cookies on Saturday and I sat and ate 4 of them last night. But, I had a loss and I'm super happy about it. I hope everyone is doing well through these hard times!
SW (1/6/2020): 260.4
1/31: 244.8 (-15.6)
3/1: 237.3 (-23.1)
3/9: 235.7 (24.7)
3/16: 232.9 (-27.5)
3/23: 229.8 (-30.6)
March Goal: 227.3
Exercise is pretty non-existent for me right now because I'm consumed with kids and work and not super motivated to work out at home. So I'm just trying to be extra diligent in my food choices.12 -
@AlexanderFindsHerself 20 lbs is great. I need to redo my kitchen when I can afford it. It is pretty small. It sounds like you are getting a bigger one. With all the cooking you do for your home you deserve it. You are doing a lot of NEAT and now starting bodyweight exercise so you are doing well. I have been collecting exercise and stretches that can be done in bed.
@Terytha congratulations on the loss this past year. Quite an accomplishment and I like that you are looking back at your progress for the year. Maintaining for a while is actually not a bad idea after losing so much.
@shorepine We are fortunate that we had this group to support us through this challenging time. It is inspiring and reassuring and helpful to be able to voice our challenges in facing it. You voiced what I felt about today a different kind of Monday. All I have to worry about feeding is our 2 kittens. Wow geriatric horses.
@mmccloy12 you will also be in my prayers and thoughts. You are really being challenged. I just started looking into the Phit n Phat site. I think your 4th goal is the most important. Glad you are working on it.
@changeforeverlj That sounds like a nice break to walk and see such amazing things.
@vegasgirl0825 Some schools are not even teaching. I am glad that some are but I think teachers should be given a period of easing into it. I didn’t concentrate on exercise either at first. I am only now easing into a bit this my second week at home.
I feel like I have a lot on my mind today so I will post these 1st8 -
First day back to work today. In the afternoon, our mayor announced a shelter in place order to take effect starting tomorrow evening. Our dept is considered essential so we were all emailed letters from our CEO to print and carry with us along with our business card and ID in case we are stopped. The shelter in place order will go through at least April 10th.
So... it was a bit weird heading in this morning and I didn't have an appetite to eat much but made myself eat a greek yogurt with granola and raspberries. Packed a lunch of a turkey sandwich with avocado along with more raspberries and blueberries. Trying to stay healthy. Drank my daily Emergen-C as well.
I haven't slept very well the past couple of nights due to some hip pain again so may need to take a half dose of excedrin pm to make sure I get some good rest tonight.
Hope everyone hangs in there and stays safe and healthy!

KeriA, I do a lot of my floor yoga poses and bodywork stuff in bed. I still have a lot of painful trigger points in my sacral area, and so lying on the floor actively hurts, still. So hip flexors and boat pose happen in bed. I'm at thirty seconds to hold boat pose. I want to be able to hold it without shaking for two minutes straight.5

My day began with texts between me and my siblings in town. My mother (93) doesn't drive and is a retirement community that is in lock down by state direction along with all others. We were told recently we could no longer visit. There are no cases of the virus. This family of centers worked it out with UW hospital system to get all staff and any resident with symptoms tested unlike the infamous center in Kirkland who got little help. I had texted to my brother and sister that Mom was letting us know she needed TP soon so whoever was getting supplies next could get some for her. My sister panicked and somehow her being down to one package was down to one roll. My mother is very picky about the type, amount of TP we buy her. I let her know she may need to loosen up on these expectations. Any way my sister dropped off 2 rolls from their COSTCO stash and I will get Mom some when next we have to venture out. Obviously we are not a family of hoarders.
I planned to wake up earlier today but didn't get to bed early enough and I am insisting on getting my sleep so it was a definite Monday just delayed by a few hours. I adjusted my at home work schedule to an at home no work schedule. It included some Phit n Phat (PNP) food planning and study. Some at home exercise and of course MFP including this thread. I was suppose to work on a family budget but haven't yet done that. My neck is a little sore so I think one of the exercises will have to go or be done better next time. I am not sure how many days a week I will do this. Even one day a week is an improvement since we are walking some at least every other day.
Today our Governor has ordered shelter in place which is only a small step from where we were since non-essential businesses and schools have been closed. Instead of asking us to stay home we are now under order. But then most were. It is good for us that were to have all others doing the same. There are exceptions for essential trips to get food and supplies and take out food is still allowed. Walking is fine but not meeting at parks in groups. Playgrounds, and play courts were already closed. I went on my work email so far no word on what will happen next week. I have only had breakfast and dinner since I slept in. I watched some movies online this weekend but will probably return to my usual reading tonight and get to bed earlier. I agree with PNP's Corinne Crabtree that 1st thing is getting enough sleep and water. I am really trying hard today with the water which I am so bad at.
Take care all.9 -

Well, at least this last week was a loss. But I feel like I am really struggling. As most of you have expressed, these are challenging times for weight loss right now. I am really missing the gym! I went from hating it, to now that its been taken away, really needing it.
I struggle with fitting exercise into my routine. I am gone all day, from 6:45AM till about 6PM. Once I get home, I am done for the day, tired, and just want to get in my jammies, eat dinner, and go to bed. To ensure I am taking care of myself, I made it a habit to go to the gym every day after work. I get home an hour later, but I can still end my day once I get there.
My company is an essential business, so my work schedule has not changed. I know there are a TON of things I can do from home to stay healthy, but I just don’t have the motivation for that! I managed to go for a 45 min walk yesterday after work, but that’s the first thing I have done since last Monday. The scale seems to show that. I really need to figure this out or I am afraid I will lose all progress and motivation.
I feel a little selfish complaining abut this. Seeing it written down makes me feel like my issues are so small compared to others right now. But this is what is on my mind today. I am grateful for that loss, my job, mine and my family’s health. I truly hope all of you are doing well and coping with the world as it is today.12 -
@shalanne Your schedule sounds like mine before my office closed so I understand how hard it is to fit in exercise. I was struggling to add a day onto my 3 day a week aquafit schedule so I'm impressed you went every day after work. It is hard to eat healthy home cooked meals and exercise on work nights. My work closed last Tuesday last week and I only managed one small walk last week. So yes it is a challenging transition and it seems to keep changing. This group is here for support. No more feeling guilty. Talk nice to yourself. You deserve it. Stay safe.

March Goal get to 255
My March Weekly Goals are:
1. Get enough sleep and improve water intakeI moved this up to the top. I am doing better at water intake but not there yet. My sleep patterns have changed with not working and I need to tweek here.
2. Continue to Improve my weekday breakfastsThis is no longer an issue anymore. No more starbucks on the way to work./i]
3. Log weight, food and exercise and stay under calorie goaldoing this
4. Get close to mid 250s this means my highs and lows get and stay below 260I am making progress at this and could make it if I keep going the way I am.
5. Get some exercise 6 days a week and up NEAT cleanI have done okay at the 1st not as much of the latter. Think some cleaning would be good.
6. Make healthy foods at home I have been doing the bulk of the cooking since my DH is working at home. Tonight my daughter is making it.
8. Check out this thread more oftenGet enough sleep and improve water intake
I am checking in everyday but I usually take a while to get on here. Today I couldn't wait since I had a bigger loss than I have for a while. It is so nice to have finally caught back up to my previous weight on MFP and start going beyond or below as the case may be. It shows a couple lbs loss but it is closer to 8 since some of my variations went up to 266 in January. My high last week was 260. Yesterday I got up late and wasn't hungry for breakfast right away so I ate brunch so I skipped lunch. When I got hungry for that it was time for dinner. So we had dinner. I had a snack later. I need to go to bed earlier.5 -
Good morning everyone, weigh-in Wednesday.
Height: 5'6"
SW: 236.4 (9/8)
2/26: 196.4:
2/29: 195.6
3/4: 195.8
3/11: 196.8
3/18: 189.7
3/25: 187.5
3/31:
March goal: 189.9
My non-scale March goals:
- Exercise at least 15 min per day, 6 days a week. 5/7 days.
- Water 128 oz. Between 96-128 each day.
- Intermittent fasting @16/8. 7/7 days.
- Eight hours of actual sleep. 7/7 days, but waking up in the middle of the night with anxiety.
I hope everyone is doing okay today. I have continued to have a low appetite this past week and have been trying to force myself to eat more, especially healthy fats. My low this week was 186.3 and while I wouldn't mind being there a week from now, I am glad I have balanced out a bit. I don't want to lose the weight too quickly and want my body to feel healthy rather than stressed right now.
I have been waking up in the middle of the night a lot so I shifted my bedtime to start reading in bed at 9:30. I have found that I sleep better this way and feel more rested. I've ordered a melatonin supplement to see if this helps too and am going to try journalling my thoughts and fears to work through them. I tried the Headspace meditation app but it is not resonating with me. I will try it a few more times since I have a free 30 day trial.
I am grateful this week that I have had a chance to go on walks with my family each evening, and that I have a spinning bike I can use for exercise. I have enjoyed starting my day yesterday and today with a 30 minute ride. It makes me feel accomplished and strong from the start. I think this is an opportunity to establish new habits and fitness routines. The combination of no commute and flexibility of working from home has been enlightening because I have no excuses - I have to own what I choose to do or not do. That said, we are sticking to a pretty solid work and school routine and that is helping things to feel "normal."
Sending hugs out there to everyone. Do your best to be healthy and safe, love one another through this, and reach out to people who need support. And if you are looking for support, feel free to add me as a friend!11 -
Down another 2 pounds today! And the size 16 jeans now fit perfectly. So that's two sizes down in pants from when I started. I'm still wearing the same shirts but now I'm running them through the hot dryer to shrink them a bit. (grin) I feel SO GOOD. I have tons more energy to deal with life. I really enjoy this, and I never in a million years would have thought that I would enjoy the process of losing weight.10

A few of of us have referenced the PNP podcasts. I have subscribed to them on my phone and am posting a link to the PNP website to make it easier for others to access them as a first timer. If you are stress eating right now, please listen to a few of these and see if they can help you. Corrine also links to some of her other episodes that are helpful on these pages.

I weighed in at 191.6 this morning, which means my goal of 190 may still be possible by the end of the month.
But if it isn't that's ok! It has been a very rough few weeks.
I'm just aching to hit 185 though and its soooooo close now.12 -
Good Morning, What time we are living in. Prayers to everyone who have to turn their lives upside. My little world is starting to get crazy because of the rain, we haven't been able to even go outside for 3 days. So today, small blessing NO RAIN but still very wet. Looks like DD(Darling Daughter) and DH (darling Husband) will be helping me tidy up the back yard after DH get done with work. Just need to add more exercise in my goal plan. I have RA in my spine and have been diagnosed with Lupus, so I research cardio workouts that wont leave this body is pain. I am going to looking at the PHIT-PHAT podcast and see what they have.
Stay sane and find one thing that positive today.9 -

That's really how I feel. The monthly goal is 272, and at 274, I may well do it. But I decided about mid-month not to worry about it because I was feeling better and my clothes were changing their fit and my partners were commenting on the change in my silhouette, so something was happening even if the scale wasn't showing it. Of course, I do like the scale to show it! I am similarly aching to be able to say "I have lost 25 pounds this year". Three more pounds and I can!

Good afternoon! Weigh-in Wednesday.
Highest weight: 435 (11/1/18)--lost 50 lbs. by the end of 2018 but got off track and gained back almost 31 lbs.
SW: 415.8 (4/17/19)
2/29: 274.4
3/4: 273.4
3/11: 270.6
3/18: 268.2
3/25: 264.8
3/31:
March GW: 265.4
GW: 160 (then reevaluate)
Fitness goals for each week in March:
- exercise bike 5 times per week - 0/5
- short walking videos twice a day 5 times per week - 0/5
- strength training 2 times per week - 2/2 (upper body only; didn't do lower body/legs this week)
- chair yoga 3 times per week - 3/3
The pain in my right leg that started last week Monday continued through this week. It does seem like it is getting better but it stopped me from doing most exercises that involve my lower body. I was able to do the dumbbell exercises I do for my arms as well as the chair yoga so at least I did something. I also tried to get in a very minimum number of steps as the pain started to lessen. It seems like once I walk 20 or 30 steps the pain decreases. Yesterday after walking around my condo a bit I and getting the pain to ease, I got on the exercise bike just for 5 min. I wanted to see if it aggravated my leg and it didn't. Today I want to maybe try 15 minutes. I don't want to push things because I don't know what caused the pain but I sure am missing the exercise. Never thought I'd say that!
My son finished his bike trip across the U.S.! He finished on Sunday, 5 days ahead of schedule. With all the uncertainty across the country because of COVID-19, he really pushed himself the last week, especially the last 2 days. He rode 125 to 135 miles each of his last 2 days. He said he lost almost 20 pounds during that 5 weeks. I guess that's one way to lose weight! He didn't really have much to lose: at 6' 4" and about 167 pounds, he was already lean. He said it was a great experience and challenge but he probably won't get on his bike again for a few weeks. I'm so grateful he was able to finish his trip and that he made it home safely!
Hope you all and your families and friends are safe and coping as best as possible.10 -
@MuttiNM - I just did the calculation. You lost over 150 pounds in less than a year! That is amazing. And I'm so glad your son is back at home. I'm sorry about your leg - in another time, I'd recommend PT, but that's out of the question right now. But the internet might have some good stretches or exercises. And then there's ice and Advil.
@theytha - I'm so freaking proud of you. Sticking through it even during difficult times and staying consistent. You are an inspiration.
To @mmdeveau and @lbostic89 and all the other nurses, physicians and caregivers out there - you guys are heroes. I am thinking of you and worrying about everyday. I admire you so much.
@Orangequilt - I've been thinking of you too and your Mom and Dad in Spain. Not that things are better in London either. Please stay safe.
Its a difficult time for everyone - we are living through an epic human tragedy. Yet a small silver lining is that the forced pause in our lives is reminding us of what is truly important, what we really value and helping us realize how we can get by with less.

Hi I’m new to this whole app and group thing. I’ve been struggling with a food habit. I was hoping I could come into here and get some support lol.
5’5
SW: 232
CW:188
GW:150
I did lose a lot of wight and honestly I don’t even know how I did it but I want to try harder to change my eating habits. I started working out again and I want to do that hopefully every day. I guess I’m just here to talk to people that can relate to me.11 -
Lost my job today😢 I am very overwhelmed. I was anxious being required to work in a non essential business, but I was still very thankful for having my job. I am not feeling that great and the constant fear of having this virus haunts my sleep and thoughts. Now I have no paycheck or insurance if I do get sick. I hope I can hold it together.25
-
@mmccloy12 I am so very sorry to hear this😢. I just..I hate this so very much!5
-
@mccloy12 I am so very sorry. That really sucks and is very scary. I wish I could give you more advice on anxiety. I will let you know if the supplement I ordered has an impact on sleep. And listen to the podcasts I posted above.
Apply for unemployment insurance. It will provide some funds to and hopefully can be done online. And then I would check into the health exchange insurance options for your state. You have 60 days to enroll. They base the premiums off your income and use the unemployment insurance amount you receive if you are unemployed. Here's a link for more details: https://www.healthcare.gov/unemployed/coverage/
And give yourself a few days to breathe and adjust. This is a lot to take in all at once. Sending you hugs.6 -
@speyerj, wonderful and true insight.
@izzysbizzy, welcome! Times are tough right now but everyone is still so supportive.
@mmccloy12, I’m so sorry. Sending you hugs. Times are hard right now, we’re all here right now in the best way we can be for you.
I completed another home workout! I’m so proud of myself because I hate working out at home. I kind of fell into a funk with school being all online and now my job, I just didn’t have a proper schedule for myself, but I’ve fixed that and I feel like I can breathe a bit easier again. Times are tough, and this is all new, so we’re all just trying to do the best we can.
Congratulations to everyone who had a loss! You’re amazing.8 -
@Tarzan your breakfast and lunch sound yummy and healthy. Hope you sleep better soon.
@aliciap0116 good job finding a way to get the exercise in. I too have been having some issues with my sleep. I really like the point that Corrine makes that we aren’t social distancing but physically distancing. We still need to reach out with each other just electronically not in person.
@AlexandraFindsHerself I am hapy to see the progress and that is the best to enjoy the process.
@Terytha glad you are making progress
@MyBeth1 All the best finding the right exercise.
@MuttiNM I am glad your son completed his ride early and safely. You are doing well even with some challenges.
@izzysbizzy support is important.
@mmccloy Oh no! I am so sorry. I am worried what will happen at the end of the month with my job but I am more concerned for you.
@torihudson6 Good job with the home workouts. I set up a schedule for working from home then they closed my office and I am struggling to adjust again.
What I am seeing lately is very hard fought success despite hard challenges. I am proud of us if not only for supporting each other.
My daughter made Butter Chicken for dinner tonight, yum! I seem to have been able to do at least one important thing a day. Today I organized all my work clothes so they will be ready when ever we get back to work. Yesterday I organized a family budget so my husband and I can begin to plan for retirement in a few years. Of course now things may change but it will help to have the information. The day I did my at home work out. I am really concentrating on eating when I am hungry and not when I am not. I also have waited to eat breakfast. I got up earlier today but didn't eat breakfast until it was really brunch.8 -
I am definitely going to have a gain this week... And a bad one of that. Why does cheese have to be Soo good?!?!?11
-
I just can't have fruit can I. -_-
I tracked the start of my recent stall to the day I started snacking on grapes every day and the end to when I ran out. Previously apples and bananas gave me similar stomach issues.
I miss fruit.12 -
Sorry, I keep forgetting to update in this group
2/28 - 320.2
3/6 - 320.6
3/13 - 318.4
3/20 - 316.6
3/27 - ? Hopefully down again8 -
@mmcloy12 That's really awful for you! I hope you have people around that u can lean on and get support from!4

I miss fruit too. I have a fructose intolerance. I consider it some kind of wrong that I can eat a chocolate chip cookie with less misery than eating a fresh juicy pear.6 -
That is sad to not have fruit . I forgot to do my daily weigh in . I made a nice breakfast this morning. We had to get supplies this morning including TP for my 93 year old mother living in a retirement community. We can no longer see her but since she doesn't drive we need to keep her stocked with what she needs. She is picky about the quantity and type of TP she wants but I explained we can only get her what we can and that we are avoiding going out ourselves. I am lucky I have 2 siblings to share the burden with but we are all over 60 so we are at high risk too. Our texts about this were quite funny since my sister panicked and thought I said she was down to her last roll when I said last package (of rolls).
However since we had to go out for supplies I had my husband pick up some pastries and I made scrambled eggs. You can see I do not have any no list foods just what I can fit in my calorie goal. I have been having more like 2 meals and a snack now that I am home. I do have a lot of not worth it foods and I am very picky with sweets since I limit them. When I was working we had bigger breakfasts on the weekends and I actually lost then more often. Now I am actually eating healthier breakfasts during the week since I have time to make/prepare them myself and am not eating on the run. However this was just a special treat since my daughter is on spring break. Anyway I am finally losing better.8 -
I was going to say that my husband went early to the grocery store today because they have an hour set aside for seniors and those with special health conditions just after opening. Usually stores have just cleaned that night and there are less people around that early. Also it is newly stocked so that they don't have to go out again or to other stores to get everything they need as much.9

@BrownSugar174 @aliciap0116 @KeriA @torihudson6 @changeforeverlj thank you for the kind words. And wow...thank you for all the hugs! You guys are awesome. Cheered me right up!
It's so great to see everyone doing so well during this crazy time! I know it's a struggle but we can all get through it one day at a time. Establish new or temporary routines. Reach out and post. we are all in this together!
@aliciap0116 hope the sleep gets better! What a great opportunity to walk with your family! You are just rocking your goals!
@torihudson6 I know you miss your kick boxing, but it looks like you are doing great adding some things at home!
@KeriA I have enjoyed your posts! I like you can post in here more now
@MuttiNM so happy your son finished his bike trip and is home safe! What an accomplishment. Hope the pain in your leg gets better
@AlexandraFindsHerself1971 Yay on getting into a new size jeans! You are just killing it! Great job!
@Terytha that stinks about the fruit...hope you can find some that will work with your system. I have some foods that don't agree with me that i love...it stinks I know! I am rooting for you to hit 185 soon!
I know I probably missed a ton of people, sorry! I weigh in tomorrow...can't believe March is almost over!9
