Women 200lb+, Let's Be Mighty this May!!!

Habit is a curious thing; I said I wasn't going to pay attention to calories, I was just going to eat soft food and get through this dental issue, and here I am meticulously logging the peanut butter sandwich and the half cup of chicken noodle soup I soaked it in to make it even softer. (wry grin)10

@BeUncommon I'm so sorry for the loss of your Dad. With everything else going on, it's especially stressful. About a month after Mom's burial I was really feeling the loss. I called the cemetery to clear it and went out there (it's in the country) to visit the grave, then sat in the chapel for a bit. Very lovely, peaceful, and calming.
Hang in there ... you CAN do this!!

WOW!! Am I ever behind. Last 3 days have had epic, ongoing kerfluffle. I did manage to keep food on track and log my meals but that's it for MFP.
So, welcome to all new folks and those returning. I do plan to read the 40+ posts I've missed. While I don't plan to respond to all of them, I'll try to respond to a few. I'm cleaning windows today and after the winter we've had, they really need to be deep cleaned. My plan is to clean one window completely, then read/respond to MFP posts. Whatever works ... LOL ... to get these blasted windows done!!
Hope Y'all have a great day!!12 -

Hello there! My name is Kelly and I have been on this journey before was successful for 2 years then met my husband and gained all of the weight back. I am looking forward to figuring out how to live a healthy lifestyle again.

My goals for May are:
1. Log every day, everything!
2. Break the plateau I've been idling at for a while.
3. Drink a glass of water before meals.
My goals have not changed since April. I am back at work part time which I think will help me succeed at my May goals.
15 -
I'm back, and survived finals. Only have one more class Thursday and then I get a week break before summer classes start. I realized I never posted my starting weight for May, so I'm going to do it a bit late.
April ending weight: 240
5/2: 240.5
I ended up losing 1.5lbs in April which I will happily take! I have not been eating the best this first week, so busy that fast food is the quickest and easiest to do, but hoping to get back on track this weekend with tracking. Hope everyone is healthy and well!14 -
@aliciap0116 - I think you are too hard on yourself. You lost 1.5 pounds over the course of two weeks. That is progress. Celebrate the win!
@Keria - I hope you get to go back to work soon. I have to hand it to you how well you are coping.
@CupcakeCrusoe - you are killing those SMART goals!
@rpbarkernc - Great job getting so close to goal.
@MuttiNM - I'm so glad you are riding your bike! And you just dropped another 2 pounds. You are a weight loss machine!6 -
@PansyLass13 For a while I put a goal to check into this thread it was helping so much. Definitely I can relate to the logging issue. I finally have my log in days up to over 95 and usually have all my food and exercised logged. I am afraid to ask what fitness blender workout plan is.
@RavenStCloud can you bring your own wipes or would that be rude? Anyway good job getting to the gym.
@rpbarkernc great news
@procolorer my daughter’s birthday is May 26 ans she will be 26 this year. I am wondering what to do for her birthday.
@aliciap01116 It feels like you are doing well following the PNP idea of evaluating without judgement what is working and what isn’t and making adjustments. Keep up the good work.
@MuttiNM that bike ride sounds wonderful
@torihudson6 actually that is a good loss for the end of the quarter/semester. Enjoy your break.
I just made my family very happy and with meatloaf. It was lamb meatloaf and it had a yogurt sauce and a lemon green onion herb topping. I served it with mashed veggies (potatoes, carrots, cauliflower. Yum. Also I was able to push my time on my Gazelle 5 minute longer. Last Wednesday I couldn’t get myself to exercise for the life of me.

I have a day at home tomorrow. It’s easy to stay on track during my days at work, but my days at home are so tough right now just with the urge to snack all day. I am so grateful that I have an essential job and have continued to go to work during this time. But I am better prepared for my day tomorrow with cauliflower, greens, bok choy, carrots, bean sprouts and shirataki noodles. Plan to make a huge dish of low calorie “pad Thai” in the morning (using PB2 instead of peanut butter & lots of veggies keeps it high volume - low calorie) and just eat this all day. I need these high volume dishes to get through my snacky days I think. I’ve lost 14% of my starting weight, and I will not be falling into a mindless eating trap now!! Hope everyone has a great night!9

I started at 204 in March when all this madness started and I'm currently at 208. It's definitely snacking and idle hands. I was working a lot to cover people who got sick and stayed home for 2 weeks, but now everything is getting back to normal. I move in June to another state for a new job and I'm trying not to stress about that yet. (Got approved for an apartment earlier today!)
I'm disappointed the weight has creeped back up but I know it's because of my own boredom snacking. I need to work on that, I used to be so much better at avoiding it.9 -
Hi, I hope you are all well! Just to fill you in my neighbour is home, tests all clear, Dr suspects he mixed meds! He is neither admitting or denying, keeps saying he can't remember. I feel sorry for his wife who is over the wall with stress! I hope he gets the help he needs!
I've been drinking too much coffee which keeps me up late and has my mind racing! So definitely have to limit intake! Will try drinking more rooibos tea (redbush herbal). We have been in lockdown for over 6 weeks, our numbers are rising so quickly now, clearly, the lockdown hasn't worked in all areas! There seem to be pockets of hotspots all over the country.
Have any of you watched the video on utube doing its rounds, called Plandemic? I'm not sure what to believe! And even if it is true, what can we do about it! I guess I'm at that stage of lockdown where I'm questioning what we are doing! But still keeping up my powerwalking and counting Kjs!
I've also been experimenting with a sourdough starter, it took 8 days to be properly active, so I went online and found a simple recipe for NY style sourdough bagels, and baked them, Wow they were outstanding! Its the one thing I really miss in SA, bagels aren't a thing here, most people have never even had a bagel! I will save this recipe it's from a website called Baked (I think it's Canadian).6 -
@KeriA birthdays are always so hard! My moms hoping they can come visit me but who knows! The last couple years they’ve been buying me things for my house remodel for my birthday!
@changeforeverlj I haven’t personally done anything with sourdough but my co-worker has and it’s turned out amazing! I can’t believe people don’t ‘do’ bagels there. They’re delicious! Now thinking about buying some of those bagel thins1 -
@procolorer I know hey! A bagel is something beautiful to behold! I'm going to google bagel thins now...

Living Room windows are done! Yea Me!!! Had to clean out all the window tracks as well as the amazingly grungy inside platform in addition to the windows themselves. Only thing I could not do was the outside facing windows ... that will take a ladder outside the house to do (which means I can't do it because of my vertigo). That means either my granddaughter or hiring it done *sigh*.
So, today ... plan to mop the bathroom and kitchen floors. Got the vacuuming done yesterday. I think I need to take a break this afternoon and sit outside for a bit ... just to enjoy the sun.
Hope Y'all have a great day!!6 -
Good day yesterday. Tracked everything. Did only 5 minutes of walk every hour that seems to help with leg pain. Working on building up to 15 minutes straight. For 2 years I could barely walk but now walk even little amount with out pain is awesome!. Small steps. HAHA literally,
Tried a new recipe with last night. A veggie egg casserole. DD (darling daughter) and DH (darling Hubby) actually ate. Farm Fresh Veggies, Zucchini, eggs, tomatoes, carrots, spinach, celery, onion.
Hoping to repeat most of yesterday,
Be Blessed to bless others.10 -
@cesse47 I love your pep! I'm finding spring cleaning is keeping some of my sanity too. Also a good workout!
@Rosie3579 That is so tough messing around with your routine and environment. That pad thai sounds awesome!
@torihudson6 Congrats on surviving finals! Enjoy your break!
@kmnebgen Welcome! I'm new to this group too and also working my way back down the weight loss ladder. Sending good vibes for May!
@MuttiNM Holy moly well done on those goals! Killing it!
Needed the positivity of this group today. Cannot shake the 1-4 lbs of water weight and bloat I am carrying around this week no matter what I do. It might be time to avoid the scale for a few days, but I also find I like the proof every day that the scale IS wonky and there are things related to weight I have no control over. Feels a bit like a catch-22 right now. Trying to focus on all the NSVs I've got going on, but I feel a bit blah regardless. It's nice to have you all to turn to.10 -
ceese > Thank you very much, and yes we CAN do this x We have the same goals which is ultimately hitting onederland I am still quite a long way from it but I will get there eventually. x
pansy > Hi there and welcome back to MFP. I am new to the group and not long ago started back logging here on MFP.
Raven > I would be so nervous to go to a gym these days, expecially after hearing about your gym. You live in Korea? my daughter wants to go there so bad. She watches Korean TV Drama's etc. She is a BTS fanatic!! lol
Rpbarker > Congratulations!!! that is fantastic Keep up the awesome work!
Charlee > Welcome to the group. I am very new here also! Nice to have you here and good luck on your goals x
Alexandra > okay I literally just laughed out load! Geez you sound so much like me..lol I hope you sort out your dental issues soon x
Kelly > Welcome to the group. I am also very new to it. I used MFP before but then was away for years so now in the past couple months I have been back. Logging is the key in my opinion, it keeps you accountable for what you are taking in. Im sure you succeed Just keep at it!!
Tori > 1.5lbs is still a loss!!! as long as you are going down to reach your goal, that is all that matters xx
Hope you all are having a wonderful day x

Hope everyone is having a great Thursday! I did it everyone, my first workout of May (besides mowing my huge yard) from Youtube. I was sitting on the couch watching TV and I'm like "I need to be more productive with my time", so I went to someone I followed on Instagram who I really like and did one of her favorite Youtube workouts. Time flew by and I'm just feeling so proud of myself. I know everyone in here would understand, coming off a depressive episode is hard and trying to find your groove again can be even harder, so this is a major win for me.
And thank you all for the encouraging words! I appreciate them.12 -
Today there were like 50 pizzas delivered to work. The pizza place was celebrating healthcare workers (I work in a lab) but I ate my healthy choice meal and saved hundreds of calories. It took a lot cause it smelled soooo good!13

Today was a good day. It was a gorgeous morning, and I was grateful to spend it hiking in the hills with my toddler and my dog. So cool to see my son becoming such a great little hiker and climber. My low cal version of Pad Thai worked out really well, and I got to have a big portion which kept me full. I also made a sheet pan of baked carrot chips seasoned with cayenne. Left them out on the counter so I could snack all day like I wanted to do. I am honestly so happy to have a day where I ate exactly how I wanted to eat, exercised, and achieved a great calorie deficit! I am at home again tomorrow. But I have leftovers and also a big cauliflower that I plan to roast with cumin for grazing throughout the day.
Thanks to all who have posted this week. So many inspirational posts & I’m glad to be here with you all.9 -
@Rosie3579 good job planning ahead. The hike sounds nice.
@janicemlove I can relate to dealing with some boredom.
@changeforeverlj thanks for updating us on your neighbor. Sorry the numbers are rising there I hadn’t noticed that. I have been thinking about sourdough started. Soudough is a Seattle thing. But baking isn’t a Keri thing.
@cesse47 that is a lot of cleaning.
@Mybeth1 hope it was another good day.
@sarahurc I have been wondering when the scale will go down too.
@torihudson6 Nice! tomorrow is the day I usually do a YouTube exercise video.
@procolorer I am impressed. I used to eat lean cuisine for lunch at work a lot. Today I ate one left over from before I have been at home.
Actually today I had a victory that wasn’t even a non-scale victory and has nothing to do with health. However it was something I had wanted to do for months and especially once my office closed during the pandemic but had hit a road block or 2. When I realized I would be working at home and later not working but at home I thought this is a perfect time to get some training I needed on a program I use at work that has had a huge change. I thought about doing it the week between Christmas and New Year’s which we usually get off. The problem is that I don’t have the software at home. 1st I had to figure out whether my laptop could handle it. I even tried talked to the manager of the department that does most of the work with this program to see if I could take home a laptop with the software but he wasn’t at work the day I was getting ready to work from home. So then I bought a book I know works well for me. I was going to download trial software in March but it was no longer available since they had allocated all those licenses to COVID – 19 research efforts. I can’t afford full price and don’t need the software forever. I tried reaching out to the company. I have taught the program and have used it most of my professional life, even making my employers purchase it so I can use it. Now I was temporarily unemployed due to COVID 19 and want to do something constructive with my time. Well this morning I decided I wasn’t going to accept there wasn’t a way to do this. I may only have a partial month until I go back to work. So I found out about a 1 year personal use version that I could afford but then the checkout didn’t work so I got on their chat. It turned out they had started a program for users who had been laid off due to COVID 19 for free software and training. So I signed up for it and got on the site but couldn’t find how to get access. I finally found where to do it and downloaded it. I also redid my weekly schedule so I can do a Chapter in my book every weekday. I think this is just what I need to put more structure to my week. Cooking has been fun and I can continue doing my part. I did need to get over the exercise at home hump too. Now I have a challenge that I enjoy and is another type of self-improvement. After that I did some exercise and did make dinner. So it was a good day.

GOALS:
🏵️ Lose 5 lbs. TOM started yesterday, I'd been seeing 188 and 189 all week. So it's okay. I haven't been eating enough to maintain since last week, so this will go away.
🏵️ Log everything in grams. ✅✅✅✅✅✅⛔Yesterday I grazed a little but made my best guess and went running, so I don't think I went into my deficit too far.
🏵️ No more than 20% calories from treats every day. ✅✅✅✅✅✅⛔
🏵️ Move every day. ✅✅✅✅✅✅✅
🏵️ Drink more water. ✅✅✅✅✅✅✅
🏵️Be kind to myself. ✅✅✅✅✅✅✅
🏵️ Treat myself in other ways than food. ✅✅✅✅✅✅⛔
🏵️ Reduce sodium intake ✅✅✅✅✅✅✅
Goals overall: ✅✅✅✅⛔⛔⛔
It's Friday! Which means pizza and moscato tonight. It's also bodyweight exercise day, which at least doesn't take as long as a run.
To treat myself tonight, I'm going to do whatever I feel like doing without feeling the guilt about the state of the house. It's a guilt free night. No cleaning unless I really want to. Might catch up on The Blacklist. I did split the sleeves on my cardigan, so I might do more of that, might not. Warmer weather makes me not want to knit.
Have a good Friday, everyone!7 -
@CupcakeCrusoe we used to watch the Blacklist! However we got distracted by other shows and haven’t watched it for awhile now. Hope you enjoy the day!
@KeriA I’m not a huge fan of frozen meals but sometimes I just need a quick running out the door meal! I’ve decided I’m definitely not a fan of Healthy Choice- the chicken is just terrible. I only ate like half of them because of this. However today I’ve got a lean cuisine cauliflower crust pizza!
It’s Friday which = weigh in day. Technically it’s only been 4 days since I really started watching what I ate (and I got so excited yesterday because the store actually had diet Dr Pepper so I didn’t have to drink full calorie Coke anymore!) but I’m down 4.2 pounds. I know some of it’s probably water weight but I will take what I can!
5/5 287.3
5/8 283.0
Might have to up my lose goal for this month!9 -
Torihudson > Well done on your workout! With that great feeling and feeling so proud of yourself will probably help you to continue to do it
Procolorer > Congrats on your willpower to stay away from the pizza! I imagine that would have been really hard, with the smell coming from them..lol Pat yourself on the back for that one xx
Also good job on your weight loss!! awesome job!
Rosie > Well done to you! How do you make carrot chips? I could really use some good heatlhy snack ideas
Cupcake > I love blacklist! Like procolorer, I have not watched it in awhile either as I have been watching some other netflix stuff but it is a great show
Anyone into Vikings? I loooove that show and cant wait for the 2nd half of season 6 to start!! Also been watching Tiny House Nation on Netflix.. it is so amazing what they can do creating those tiny houses lol
Have a wonderful day everyone

Happy Fri-yay everyone!
On Monday I weighed in at 187.6. Today, 182.8. That TOM water retention is no joke. Took all week to drop it. -_-
Friday is exercise and order takeout day. So my plan is try get an hour of VR in and then get a bowl of pho tai. But I'm cramping very badly so the exercise might be shorter.
I'm starting to get worried when I look at myself in the mirror. I've only got 20-30 lbs left to lose, will I actually see a difference by then? I've lost 90 and barely see anything at all.11 -

Granddaughter worked from home yesterday so other than some dusting and vacuuming, none of my ToDo items got done. So, today I plan to mop floors. Tomorrow is a "ME" day ... time to do something fun just for me ... so definitely want to get the mopping done today.
Hope Y'all have a great day!!6 -

I talked with my doctor before I started MFP this time. At 72 and with compromised lungs, aerobic exercise if really difficult because I start having difficulty breathing very quickly. Doc said to do walking in "chunks" of 5 min each. Right now I'm doing 2 5-minute chunks per day along with my stretching and chair yoga. Hopefully will be able to increase walking to 3 chunks in the future. Baby Steps for me as well.
We Can Do This!!

When I get "water logged", LOL, I do 3 things. I increase the amount of water I drink per day, reduce sodium intake, and choose foods with more water content and less sodium. A day or two of doing that seems to break the cycle for me. Looking back, I think I sometimes get "water stalled" because I'm drinking less than I should and eating foods that are processed or have larger sodium content.
Oh, there are a couple of other things I might do. If I think I've been lax, I'll become more meticulous in measuring and weighing food. For example, If I have a bone-in pork chop, I'll weigh before eating. Then, after eating weigh the bone and any meat scraps to determine how much I actually ate. Also, will stop cooking with salt and only add it at the table. Will also eliminate all processed foods for a time.
