I am SUPPOSED TO BE in maintenance with a goal weight of 143 pounds and an allowable goal range of 140-150 pounds and an IDEAL goal range of 142 - 148. I fluctuate wildly day-to-day, and try to stay fairly steady month-to-month. I often succeed, and sometimes I am not exactly where I want to be. I will update here once per week and report my ten-day average weight.
May 9: 2019: 142.1 - At goal; Ultimate final weight and bottom of IDEAL goal range. I was around my lowest average weight on my entire journey. Those were good days. River trips!
February 9: Ten-day average 144.2 - Still in the lower third of IDEAL goal range.
March 9: Ten-day average 144.1 - Lower third of IDEAL goal range.
April 9: Ten-day average 147.3 - Almost the the top of my IDEAL goal range; top third of absolute goal range.
May 9: Ten-day average 149.6 - Significantly over the top of IDEAL goal range. Last week I could hardly have been any closer to the top of my ABSOLUTE range. I'm up another 0.1 pound since then. At least that's all it is. Up over 2.5 from a month ago and about five pounds (!!!) from two months ago.

When this happened to me late Dec & early Jan & again in Feb 2020, I got flustered TOO! My brain fogged up (from FEAR, I think).
SO, what worked?
I asked my husband to look at all the data (exercise & food tracking) & tell me how many calories I should eat to *gradually* get back to maintenance...
That worked. I just focused on staying below that calorie number. The fear subsided. I re-gained my balance & was kinder to myself.
SO from your figures above, they would indicate ~ 230-290 calories extra on average per day. So if you take an extra walk for 150 calories. And walk your food by 100 cals a day (a few bites), you would gradually get back down.
You are my hero. You CAN do this.
I had to stop purchasing trigger foods. That worked. Once down, I occasionally let myself have them.
Keep drinking lots of water & SLEEP!

I asked my husband to look at all the data (exercise & food tracking) & tell me how many calories I should eat to *gradually* get back to maintenance...
That worked. I just focused on staying below that calorie number. The fear subsided. I re-gained my balance & was kinder to myself.
SO from your figures above, they would indicate ~ 230-290 calories extra on average per day. So if you take an extra walk for 150 calories. And walk your food by 100 cals a day (a few bites), you would gradually get back down.
You are my hero. You CAN do this.

I sometimes sabotage myself at night. I've started being more vigilant when I tell myself "The kitchen is CLOSED." If I really try, I can just do it. My test this week - I did buy some foods I really like that are easy for me to overdo. Like dates. Like those Norwegian crisp seed crackers. Yeah. Like that. And some Akmak crackers. If I bought bread, all bets would be off. Well, I did get two bagels. But since I was down yesterday to get one with toppings, I just got a couple fresh ones to go. I want to keep them in business.
This stress is a good reminder for me to continue to reassess my goals. I may just change them depending how I feel and if I stabilize where I am now. I really think I'm still at a healthy weight, but dammit Jim... my goals!1 -

I hear you! I wanted to be 155 or below. Said the same things to myself. .. but that wasn’t your goal... I got a number in mind & went down to 153 so when my digestive track was more full I would still be under 155.
But u know what. 157-158 is MUCH easier for me, never hungry. And I’ve seen folks on here who look much fitter a year later after exercising & they weigh 5-7 lbs more.
I’m healthier & look better. The scale number gave us a good initial goal- now we know how we feel & can figure the balance!
What do you do for stress release? My daily hike/walks in nature lift my spirits immeasurably...
Doodling?
Movies?
Music?
Part of maintaining, for ne, has been finding other things that bring me joy, other than overeating.
PS finding substitutes for the foods you like are a crucial skill!!! Bravo!
Pps also of scale starts creeping up to 158 I cut back cuz I’ve already given myself 3-5lbs extra so SURELY I can maintain under 158. MIND GAMES

I am SUPPOSED TO BE in maintenance with a goal weight of 143 pounds and an allowable goal range of 140-150 pounds and an IDEAL goal range of 142 - 148. I fluctuate wildly day-to-day, and try to stay fairly steady month-to-month. I often succeed, and sometimes I am not exactly where I want to be. I will update here once per week and report my ten-day average weight.
May 16: 2019: 142.7 - At goal; Ultimate final weight and bottom of IDEAL goal range. I was around my lowest average weight on my entire journey. Those were good days. River trips!
February 16: Ten-day average 144.2 - Still in the lower third of IDEAL goal range.
March 16: Ten-day average 145.7 - Top third of IDEAL goal range.
April 16: Ten-day average 149.1 - Over the top of my IDEAL goal range; almost top of absolute goal range.
May 16: Ten-day average 149.2 - Significantly over the top of IDEAL goal range; almost top of absolute goal range.
OK, so I don't weigh less than a month ago, but at least it is pretty much the exact same as a month ago; I'll call that a little victory. I am up 3.5 pounds from two months ago, five pounds from a quarter ago and look longingly at what I had achieved a year ago.
