Welcome to anyone who is new on this thread. It helps me to check in with like minded people. It keeps me on track each day.
I had a great walk in the sunshine with my friend and the dogs but now rain is threatening. I'm hoping it will hold off long enough for me to walk the dogs this afternoon and then pull weeds for awhile. Then I'll welcome the rain to water my plants.
I am very grateful for my recumbent exercise bike that allows me to be active indoors even when we have rain.

Hello all, welcome to new comers, I still feel like a new comer myself. I like reading all your posts but there's nothing much new here so I don't post much. A few things are new: husband built a new enclosure for our water heater which is attached to the side of our house outside. I can't believe he did it all in one day. He's very handy & can do just about everything but doesn't do as much as before due to getting older & more achy. He hates to paint so I'm going to paint it. Still have some left over paint from our house. The next thing will be to put a new fence up facing the street. It's ok, but needs a face lift. Next week by Monday the summer is starting...102 degrees, UGH. Every year I try to find something new or do something different to stay cooler. This winter we put a curtain with backing in our kitchen going out to back yard. There's a small "hallway" between the doorway & outside door where our pantry is. The doggie door is getting worn out & lets in air. It made a big different so we got a nicer looking "curtain" that's made for this with the magnets that close up the middle. We had to move our pantry food from there due to the heat so I cleaned out couple book shelves in our built in cabinet in living room & moved the pantry food there. One of our son's gave us a bigger/newer window air conditioner for the kitchen so all that should help & I bought one of those neckless fans lol. I think my gym should open up soon but I'm not going till I feel it's safe but I love the outdoor pool there so I may go just in there, I don't know yet. I'm purposely not mentioning my dogs since I know I talk way too much about them because we lost one, one will be lost this year & the younger one is still getting over pneumonia but it has taken over a lot of my thinking & emotions. I've been doing well on eating deficit for over a week because no matter what happens, I don't want to gain all the 50 lbs back I lost. for the new ppl, I lost 50 lbs, kept it off over a year then gained 10 lbs after I quit smoking & mfp said I need to eat 1200 cal/day to lose 1 lbs/wk, which is way too little for me so I set it at 1/2 lb wk for 1500 cal but I was so used to eating 1777 to maintain so it's been difficult plus I gained 4 more lbs during the time I had extremely painful pinched nerve & could do nothing for about 3 weeks then my dog got pneumonia so I couldn't go for my 2 mile walks with her. Hello, y'all. The rain continues in Idaho. Was up in the wooded country today - everything is vibrant green right now. Still managing to walk the dog in between downpours. It will end soon and the hot, dry summer will be upon us.
On a positive note - I went on a family vacation in January. Eat, drink and be merry - yada, yada, yada. Weight spiked up a few pounds, as expected. Got back on the program and I am down 13+ pounds in the last 16 weeks. Have been below my June 30 goal once already and will have average trend weight below that goal by that date if I hang in there. Diet has not been as good as it needs to be (still the occasional chocolate binge), but I'll take the progress and keep working on the food intake.2 -
We went food shopping today early in the morning. Everybody gets used to social distancing. So, I had my cart and had to wait for 45 min for the store to open. Sun was shining, the temperature was somewhere in mid 50th and I started to walk around the cart for 45 min. Can you imagine I did 5129 steps? Not bad. Not bad at all. I'm a happy camper today.
Also, I started a strict recording of my calorie intake again - I had gained about 10 lbs sitting home doing practically nothing. I'm a binge eater and if I slack on the recording, I gain weight. Today is the 3rd day with total control of my eating. Feels good.

Hello all and welcome to the new folks reporting. It's been so nice reading all the positive thoughts and actions from our group. I've been staying in for 9 weeks now and will head out tomorrow morning to Hatteras Island, NC for the vacation rental home I really didn't think would happen this year. That county has today opened Phase 2, which includes restaurants at 50% capacity but not bars. I will meet my kids and grandchildren there who have been staying home in their own states. We will continue to social distance, wear masks in public and wash hands frequently. We're bringing in our supplies and linens so that we won't need to shop except at the local seafood store and will pick up take out restaurant food to help support the local economy. Games, art supplies, books and beach gear are packed and I'm quite excited to be with the family and take my first walk across the dune and along the Atlantic tide line of the wide uncrowded beaches. Looks like the weather there will be improving and should be a great vacation staying safe in the lovely rental home.
I've weighed in early for next week and am pleased that during the pandemic have lost 5 pounds. Slow loss is my goal and I'll be getting in more steps while away. The houses all are built on stilts with reverse floor plan living areas on the third floor. Hot tub should help with the achy knees. I'll eat what I want, just not as much, track food and exercise and hope to return home with nothing but wonderful memories of precious time with family. Today I'm baking the pineapple upside down cake I promised the grandkids for my cancelled Easter trip.

Good morning, raining in Southern Maryland today. I was feeling a bit overwhelmed about "exercise" and shutting down because of everything I wanted to do but can't due to physical restrictions. So, I decided to change that mindset this week and instead focus on what I can do ... it is a start and mentally I felt so much better! The things I can do will hopefully grow into more complex physical activity (i.e., like a marathon). I had a minor biopsy done on a suspicious dark spot on the bottom of my foot. The PA doesn't expect negative news, and neither do I but rather be safe than sorry later. It is amazing how a small cut hurts when one tries to even stand or walk, lol. So, will have to give it time to heal. I woke up today and decided this is not going to hold me back, and will do "chair" exercises! That's something I can do! I will heal and get back to business! Lynne Finding out what you can do is a great plan. It's so easy to blame circumstance for not being active. I wish you a good recovery so you be back on your feet soon.

My plans today include the regular dog walking along with an hour of line dancing with my walking friend and take out Chinese food for lunch. I always have broccoli in garlic sauce with brown rice.

Checking in, miss you friends! It has rained here for 5 + days but clear today. I spent a couple of days with the blues, but happy today, did my yoga, meditation and weight workout. Need to do more of that when I am blue, but find sometimes it is almost impossible.... Hope to do some hiking later. Getting hot today, up in 80's. I have been working on building a brick sidewalk the last couple of weeks, finished it yesterday, gave me some good exercise and let me be creative, which is important. Last summer I built a fence and enclosed a small section of garden so I could plant special plants and have a sanctuary. That is where I made the brick path, a curvy walk with a giant circle in the middle. It turned out beautiful. Loved the hard work of digging, carrying bricks and hauling sand. I have also cleaned my wrap around porch, all the furniture and rugs and made a hideaway on the north-cool side in a corner where I have L-shaped furniture and space for my new outdoor yoga area. I bring out my computer and do my classes out here now. Listening to all the bird and nature sounds really helps me feel like I have escaped to a spa or something. Everyone stay safe and positive (better than "me", guess I am talking to me too! lol) Have a Happy Memorial Day weekend.4

Good morning, MFPers! It is supposed to be cloudy and 60s today in Southern MD. However, I get to see this lil ray of sunshine a bit later this afternoon. I call her "Happy" because normally she is all smiles and chatter...but this photo cracked me up when I saw it because she looks either totally annoyed or very opinionated about something...I think she's going to have a lot of personality, lol. Our church is still closed for services and will reopen in June, I believe. So, we'll join up with them "virtually." Tomorrow, we'll be going back over to my daughter's home to celebrate her oldest son Noah Lee's 5th birthday. He was expecting his friends whom he misses dearly from pre-school to show up and his parents were having a hard time explaining this whole social distancing thing. Hopefully, between all the grandparents showing up it will take away a bit of his disappointment. Hope everyone has a great week! My mini-goals for the week, chair exercise or something moderate that won't hurt my foot, plan my meals, drink H20 (I slacked off last week) and do my bible study for support. Hope everyone has a blessed week!

Hi Everyone, I'm 73, still working and happy to find a group of older women to lose weight with. Although I just came back to MFP from WW, I actually lost weight during COVID-19. I think I am eating better since I am at home. Before COVID, I ate out a lot! I think that caused my weight gain. I gained 18 lbs between Nov. 2019 and Jan. 2020. However, I am now down 18 lbs. since the beginning of the year. I am hoping to find good recipes and eating suggestions to continue weight loss. Feel free to reach out and say hello. I'm Kathie.4

Kathie, Welcome to our friendly community. I have been retired for a long time so I already have a stay at home routine in place. I found it good for me to log food and exercise every day, seek every opportunity to be active, and participate with like minded people on this thread. I hope you will keep coming back. I eat the same foods over and over and it helps me stay less emotionally involved with food. I love having a routine and familiar meals at regular times works for me. My exercise is walking my dogs, walking with a friend, dancing, riding my exercise bike.

Last week Bernie, the cat, threw up on my blanket and after I washed it and put it back on the bed, I realized how old and shabby it was. Thinking back, I remembered that we bought the blanket with money we got for our wedding in 1989. It was an electric blanket until Sasha, the poodle, started chewing on the wires when she was a puppy in 2007. We decided it was OK to throw the blanket away and buy a new one. I was crazed looking at all the choices so I turned the job over to my sweet husband who found the perfect blanket, perfect weight, and pleased me by choosing red and black plaid because he knows I like bright colors. It arrived yesterday and after washing it, I put it on the bed and am delighted with it.

@j29t - where is the beach? The fishermen reminded me - I have done several types of fishing, but never fishing in the surf. Better add that to the bucket list.
Hope you all are well. Got a mild back injury a couple of weeks ago and it is stubbornly slow to heal. I'm doing some light lifting and walking with the dog as much as possible. I've noticed that she usually naps for an hour after the walk. Perhaps I should take a cue from her. HAHA!

Jealous of your sunshine! We have had rain for 2-3 days & expecting it for another few. Even had a tornado about 2-3 miles away yesterday & didn't know it until I saw it on the news. Guess I should have paid attention when I thought I heard sirens, lol. My little garden is looking good, but could use some sunshine for a few days. Hope it dries out enough to go out to the farm & plant pumpkins next week. Kinda planning for this to be the last year for pumpkins. It was fun to do when the gkids wanted to help, but they are getting bigger & busier, so last year it was just dh & I. Lots of work. We grow them for the gkids & ourselves, & then give away what is left over, if any. 2 years ago great crop, last year not so much..nothing to give away.2

I used to grow pumpkins for eating. I would bake them and freeze the "meat" to have as a vegetable during the winter.
We have nice weather so I worked in the yard for awhile and listened to podcasts
