@KeriA, yes, I think I am going to wait it out until July and see what things are looking like here. I do miss the routine of going there and it was always such a great workout. Congrats on completing the book! Thank you, I am happy to see progress, too. I will be sending positive vibes for your job.
@wholebygrace, congrats on almost finishing C25K, I did once and it is definitely a workout! I came in with no running experience so I really had to build my endurance up. I need to work on closing my rings everyday, too. Sometimes when I am home all day I just don’t think about putting my watch on.
@procoloer, nice loss!
@lilmisfit1987, sciatica pain is the worst, mine often travels down my leg and just throbs. And that is a great amount of steps! I need to try shooting for at least 10,000 to make sure I am moving throughout the day.
@lala5q, hi Lala! Great work so far, I loved doing Zumba. It is fun to dance, but also know you’re working out.
@supersparklyk, I hope the storm isn’t too bad. That is great progress on your steps from where you started!
@cesse47, hope you had a nice day, too!
@pamiede, great work! You got this, toning can be a fun workout, too.
@Tarzan37, ugh I hate when I am PMS-ing, I try not to weigh during that week b/c I know I’ll just be discouraged. Hope you have a nice weekend, too!
@ChrysalisCove, that looks delicious!
@mithridites, I’m sorry to hear about the depression and anxiety, I struggle with both as well and they can be a beast. Wishing you well.
@AlexandraFindsHerself1971, I hope the house buying continues to go well!
@speyerj, wow, that is quite a story. I hope you get to feeling better soon! The water weight will fall off, too. You got this.
@FoolishJoy, Hi there, welcome!
Well, today was a busy day! A lot of outside time and I even mowed the lawn (which I definitely count as a workout). I am hoping to get some movement in tomorrow as well. I closed all three rings on my apple watch and it has been awhile since that happened, so I am feeling good about that. Hope everyone continues to have a nice weekend!

For the second day in a row, I did not have a peanut butter sandwich before bed. And now I am going to bed so that I don't stay up past my bedtime snack (a cheese stick and three crackers).
Just in case anyone was thinking I never have to fight a craving. (wry grin)9 -

Evenings are the worst for me. DH & I got into a really bad habit of “rewarding” ourselves for making it through the day by having treats after DS was in bed. We stay up too late, get munchy. & any resolve we might have had during the day is long gone 😅 Great job keeping it under wraps!4 -
@ChrysalisCove: Going to bed on time has always been an issue for me. ADHD says "Oh, one more thing...." until it's three am and you have the imprint of the keyboard on your forehead, lol! And of course it's worse now because I finish the book at 12:30 and think, well, we ate dinner at five, I'm legitimately hungry! and that is what I don't need to be doing.
I have alarms set, and my boyfriend and I have Made A Point of going through the house shutdown routine starting a couple hours earlier, and that way everything is clear and in order for me to just go the heck to bed. I am okay if I go upstairs and read til one am; I'm away from the kitchen and not going back down. It's just getting off the computer and up away from temptation. And usually I don't read til one; I keep college textbooks on the evolution of tetrapods or the journal article on the phylogenetic implications of the recent discovery of a new hadrosaur in Montana for those times. Chewy and interesting and just the sort of thing to let my brain shut itself down.6 -
Hi All. I'm back following this amazing group. It's been a busy few months. And I am only down 1.6lbs since May 1.
I have been walking a lot, trying to get 10k steps a day with a minimum of 30 mins of that at elevated heart rate.
This is the month I break 5lbs lost.
Current weight: 237lbs
June goal: 232lbs
height: 5' 6"
vegetarian
Non scale goals:
- Hit 10K steps everyday
- Add in some weights
- Foam roll each day
Happy June All!8 -
@speyerj Wow Jane that was a hectic thing to go through and I'm sure all your stress levels were at max! But good to hear all tests clear! I'm routing for you to get to your half marathon in July, just take it easy for now and heal!

Hello Ladies! 🥳🥭🍆🥝🍅🥑🥕🍠🧘🏽🚴🏾♀️🚴🏾♀️🚴🏾♀️🎼🎼🏝🏖🎊🎉🎁♋️🕉🎶
Name: Linda
Age: I will be 52 years young this month🥳🥳🥳
SW: 288 (6-1-2018)
CW: 226 (6-1-2020)
My month of May was absolutely excellent in many ways!
I had my annual physical and bloodwork on 5/28 and it was excellent! My last physical/bloodwork was 3/19/19 and I weighed 271.8 pounds!
A few highlights:
1) I went from pre-diabetic to normal👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽!
2) My GFR (kidney function) went from 86% to 100%👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽!
3) My cholesterol dropped 18 points👏🏽👏🏽
4) My triglycerides dropped 23 points👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽!
5) My HgB (hemoglobin) dropped from 14.7 to 13.9 which is still fine because normal is between 12 and 15👏🏽👏🏽!
6) My protein urinalysis is negative..the last time there were “traces” of protein. Protein in urine is not good because it means that prolonged high blood pressure is negatively affecting how the kidney is functioning👏🏽👏🏽
7) Normally when I come to the office visit my BP is higher because I’m nervous. This time 122/81👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Weight wise I fluctuated a bit but it’s all good:
Our daughter graduated from The George Washington University with a degree in International Affairs and Political Science! Two weeks later she was hired by one of the top political consulting firms in DC👏🏽👏🏽!
And yesterday I struck it rich at TJMaxx! I love Madwell jeans! I’ve purchased them for our daughter but never for me. Yesterday we visited TJMaxx looking for candles. As I strolled down the women’s jeans isle and what did I see?!?!? Three pair of Madwell Jeans..for $5.99 a pair! Now their fitting rooms were closed so I decided to purchase them anyway because it looked like they would fit me well. Got them home and wouldn’t you know it THEY FIT!! Holy Moly!
These are our new candles...Peace Be Still🙏🏽

Linda, that is awesome news, the whole way round! From your daughter's achievements to your blood work to your bargain finds!4

I often post my week's menus, and here they are for the upcoming week!
My boyfriend has had weight loss surgery and eats high-protein. I am sensitive to food additives, intolerant of fructose, and have vicious IBS attacks if I eat most vegetables and beans in any quantity. I also found I am sensitive to nightshades. My girlfriend, who lives with us, has issues with dairy and uncooked egg, and is allergic to walnuts. She is also sensitive to nightshades. So my diet is not like everyone else's. Often no one eats everything that's on the menu; my boyfriend often has the pasta sauce on the zucchini, with meat toppings, and says it's better than pasta.
Monday: Lunch: Chicken (and jalapeno) quesadillas.
Dinner: Chicken parmesan, pasta, spinach, garlic bread.
Tuesday: Lunch: Hamburgers and chips and pickles.
Dinner: Sweet and sour pork, mixed vegetable stirfry, rice.
Wednesday: Lunch: They have ham and beans and cornbread. I will have a leftover hamburger.
Dinner: Swiss steak, white rice, green beans with bacon drippings and pepper, and rolls.
Thursday: Lunch: Pulled pork on buns or in a wrap with chips and pickles.
Dinner:Pasta with alfredo sauce, shrimp, chopped bacon, and pan seared zucchini. Garlic bread.
Friday: Lunch: Friday lunch is when we clean up weekly leftovers.
Dinner: Tacos, soft or hard, rice and beans, and, yes, pico de gallo, sour cream, and guacamole are on offer.
Saturday: Lunch: Hot dogs (cheese, coney sauce, chopped onions, ketchup, mustard, and relish are all available) with chips.
Dinner: curried lamb meatballs with cashews and spinach, jasmine rice (cauliflower rice), naan, and homemade sugarfree rice pudding with rosewater.
Sunday: Lunch: Burritos.
Dinner: Pork chops with ale and onion sauce, wild rice, parsley potatoes, and brussel sprouts in bacon drippings.
As always, I will give recipes for anything that anyone wants, or privately tell anyone how I do my meal planning.

Awesome news all around, Linda! You are rocking it! Three cheers for health! And for your daughter!!! 👊 ... Our TJ Maxx is reopening this week and we are very excited. Fingers crossed there are some great deals waiting there for inspiration!!

I've been stuck at the same weight for three weeks now. Guess this is that rumored plateau thing. Ugh. But I am down another inch off my waist so I'm not panicking.
I failed in my second mission today. I went to the mall for a haircut, lost like 6 inches of hair and feel like I can finally move my head again lol. But I didn't buy clothes. The mall the way it is now with all the health measures made me so tense and I felt so strongly that I shouldn't be there that I just- just ran away. I left.
I'm bad at clothes shopping on good days. Right now, I can't manage my anxiety about it at all. I feel embarrassed about my cowardice but I just couldn't deal.9 -
@speyerj so glad that you are going to be okay! That sounds incredibly scary. I love that you are continuing on with your goals, slightly adapted.
@brownsugar174 very well done! Having tangible
evidence of all you have accomplished is really meaningful. I was scheduled for my annual physical in early March that was cancelled. I would really like my numbers run to see what a difference 50 lbs makes for me.
Let’s go get this new week everyone!!4 -
Height: 5' 6"
SW (09/08/2019): 239.2 lbs
June SW (6/1/20): 159.6 lbs
6/7/2020: 169.2 lbs
June GW: 155 lbs
GW: 150 lbs (then reconsider)
Well. I really thought I’d get to do a whole post about goals and what not. To recap the last week: Monday, had tooth extraction. Tuesday was OK, but off kilter just a bit. Wednesday was doing better, but then the derecho storm hit and I lost power in the middle of the day. Did not have power restored until late Saturday. But, we’re so busy at work that I had to go into the office Thursday and Friday. My office is across the street from City Hall, a huge draw for protestors. So I parked in a different part of the city and took the train to the office. I went in both days very late, in order to let the protest stuff die down.
I had to sleep with everything open due to the heat. Also, I could not shower since our building’s hot water tank is heated with electricity, not gas. Tonight, I will take my first shower since either Tuesday or Wednesday!
I also needed to buy food that I could eat every day. With the stitches in my mouth, I’m limited as to the texture I can tolerate. The reason it was a daily event: with probably about $1,000 in food in my freezer and refrigerator, I was not opening the doors until the power was back on and the compartments had a chance to cool down again. And $1,000 is just the actual money spent…not including the time I spent prepping most of the stuff in the freezer.
I finally cracked things open today. The freezer is so packed that I don’t think I’ll lose much, if anything at all. Some might be freezer-burnt. So I won’t feed it to the queen if she comes to dinner! For “just me” I can tolerate it. I am not a “food is fuel” type person and I care a lot about food, but I’m also not in a position where I can throw this stuff away unless it’s truly going to make me ill.
And for all my talk about the scale last month, stepping on it has been shocking every day. I gained 10 pounds in one week? We shall see…I know people say that carbs cause you to retain water, and the only shelf-stable soft foods which have been the mainstay of my diet are bread and pasta. So for now I'm keeping my original goal, which was a stretch in any case because I'm getting to where I don't think it's realistic to lose more than a pound a week.
I have goals in mind, but I’m going to hold off this week from enumerating them because I need to get back to work. Sunday at 10 PM and I have a lot to make up for due to this week’s disruptions.
I need to get back on track with food. I did manage to exercise every day, at least, and I ran 8 miles today. At a bare minimum this past week, I tried to track all my water intake to stay in the game.
I can’t wait to get back to eating salads again. I really do miss them. And the good news is that our area is finally in “yellow” so the stay-at-home order has been lifted. Some things are very slowly reopening, though nothing that makes a real difference for me. Most stores that were closed weren't ready to open on June 5th, only restaurants. The local mall (the biggest in the country in terms of retail area - it's all shopping and some restaurants) has stated it doesn't have a reopening plan and it's where my hair salon is. Though I did get my hair cut right before they started to shut everything down, not planned just sheer luck because I waited 3 weeks for that appointment. I want my gym to reopen!
This week is also going to be super-busy at work. I have to train nearly every single day, and will likely have a whole lot I still need to make up from last week’s craziness.
I skimmed the thread before I wrote this, and glad to hear most keep on keeping on or doing well. @jspeyer – aye aye aye! I always tell people that falls, from whatever cause, are only funny in the movies. I’ve taken care of a patient who fell backwards on coffee table and had an absolutely wicked laceration on the back of her head and a concussion, another patient who had a stroke when he was standing at the top of the steps in his house and broke his neck when he fell down the steps, and of course all kinds of other patients who need a workup just like you did. I’m glad there was no PE – I don’t know if they explained it to you but that could be a sign of COVID complications – but PEs are not good in any case. I hope you get better real soon! I know you want to get back out there and train for that half-marathon. Luckily you had a plan that had you running a 13-mile long run prior to the race, and most would only have a 10- or 11-mile long run in the training plan leading up to the race. The plans say that’s all you need to run, that your training will take over and you’ll be able to finish just fine. I do believe you will!

Monday Check-in
SW 230.78 lbs (16/03/2020) 104.9 Kgs
25/05 92.5 Kgs 203.5
1/06 90.9 Kg 199.98 (-3.52 lbs) (-1.6 Kgs)
8/06 90.4 Kg 198.88 - (1.1 lbs) (-0.5Kgs) very small drop but a loss is a loss!
I've started to use mini bands for resistance training, I did 3 sessions for arms and shoulders last week and will continue this week and maybe try legs!
Our schools have opened today for grade 12 and 7s, I'm so happy for all of them! Rigorous protocol in place, all learners have to wear masks, hand sanitizer and social distance, no uniforms (which is different for us!) My son is grade 10 so we haven't been told when they go back yet, we think if all goes well sometime in July. We are having such beautiful weather at the moment, warm and sunny days and crisp evenings, with no wind! (Yip we are known as a windy city) my favourite time of the year! Have a good week ladies, lets stick to our plan!5 -
Good morning and happy Monday, everyone! I've been long overdue to check in with all of you so get ready for a book!
@cesse47 I love that you have daily goals as well as monthly and weekly goals. I think I might implement that for myself. Setting a daily goal for something personal instead of just work related might really help me.
@kristenlcook2 the Benny Hill music goes off in my head when things like that happen
@smithms414 well done achieving your month goal already!
@PotatoHead_ that's a great thing!
@torihudson6 progress IS progress, and you're doing great. You've got this. Mowing the lawn in this heat is definitely a workout.
@wholebygrace thanks for the reminder about pictures- I don't think I've taken any since beginning of May...
@procolorer you're doing great!
@AlexandraFindsHerself1971 you've got a great plan, and your peanut pork sounds delicious!
@micwrites
@lilmisfit1987 you're putting up some serious numbers! you go!
@KeriA I'm crossing my fingers that you don't have to wait long to get answers about your job! And as a planner myself, I think you've got the right attitude to get things DONE!
@lala5q HI! Welcome! I've rediscovered my love of zumba videos now that my only exercise time comes when it's super hot outside!
@supersparklyk stay safe for the hurricane! *fistbump of hurricane related solidarity*
@pamiede you're doing amazing. And your selfie game is ON POINT!
@Tarzan37 PMS stuff is the worst.
@ChrysalisCove that's a good looking omlette right there. As the weather gets hotter, I crave breakfast food more- probably because eggs don't require a lot of cooking, and no oven time to heat the house. Omlettes are liiiife
@Mithridites that's a lot to deal with. Sounds like you're handling it like a queen though. And your profile picture! It's great!
@speyerj that is absolutely terrifying! I'm so glad you're okay. Take it easy(ish)! And I mean, being off bp meds is a great health marker, so, yay for that at least?
@FoolishJoy Starch sensitivity must be terribly difficult! I'm so sorry you have to put up with it.
@GroverBlue78 this month IS the month! Love the attitude!
@BrownSugar174 I love everything about this. I have candle and jean envy over here.
@Terytha I get the place anxiety right now, I'm there with you on that. But yay for a haircut! I always feel like a new human after I cut my hair.
@mmdeveau continued tooth mojo!
@changeforeverlj I really need to try resistance bands, I have them. You are rocking it.
Special tag for @bluffgirl heyyyyyy I missed you here! Hope that everything is less crazy in your life right now! (or as "less crazy" as it gets!)
Oof, let me tell you about it. I weighed in super high on Friday AGAIN and then Saturday, after some good sleep, back at 186.2. I'm changing my weigh in day to be either Saturday or Sunday, depending on what night I get to sleep (Whatsisface and I alternate nights with the baby). That should make things better for my mindset. Weight is going up again, but in the pattern it normally does during Shark Week, so that's fine.
I'm finding I'm simultaneously wanting to eat all the things in my house, but wanting none of them. It's so weird. Like, I want to eat everything, but thinking about actually eating it... I just don't want that particular thing, you know? The only thing I want that I actually want to eat is chocolate chip cookies, because, of course. I'm in a weird food spot right now. Eating lots of omlettes and beans.
I fixed another of our bikes yesterday, so bike rides with the kids can resume. And zumba videos. Between those two things, exercise is looking pretty good. I find I actually love just tooling around our neighborhood and surrounding area on my bike alone, and now that we have so much daylight, it's safer to do so later, which is nice.
I'm getting some professional type clothes delivered for an interview I might have soon, and it'll be nice to start wearing Real Clothes as opposed to the formless shirts and jeans I have been wearing as the weight has gone up. Now that it's going down, I'm looking forward to actually enjoying getting dressed again. I might even dabble in Capsule Wardrobe stuff again, no better time than when I have to buy clothes anyway due to weight loss.
Have a good day and week everyone! Kick it in the behind!
PS! OH And newbies! Feel free to send me a friend request if you'd like! I promise an open food diary and at least weekly pictures of what I'm eating, because that's how I do7 -
Well, today is a weird day. I’ve been working from home for three months and I go back 9:30-2:30. I’m stressed. I’m also in graduate school, I’ve just gotten back with an on again-off again boyfriend who I adore but who I am not sure is right for the long haul, we have just adopted two new cats during isolation, one who is very old with health problems, and I am very attuned with everything going on in the world right now and I am concerned that I am going to fall back into some serious emotional eating. I am still in PT from knee surgery in January so I have that and I’ll have to figure something else out to keep moving and to keep stress from taking over. I can’t lie. I’m pretty anxious about the virus, which is still rampant in my state, and keeping my weight in check. Maybe I will try to take a walk as soon as I get home. Any ideas welcome. 💜7

Okay so I really like how MapMyRide tracks my ride better than my AppleWatch. MMR also offers a community of riders which I really like.
This is MMR from my 5/31 ride (been raining a lot here:
Here’s my ride this morning with my Apple Watch tracking:

@speyerj I’m so so sorry your going through this. One day at a time for sure🙏🏽. When I ran my first half marathon in 2009 I was 265 pounds and had not trained at all. I don’t know what I was thinking. I ran it in 3:49. When my husband and daughter met me at the finish line it was exhilarating! As we walked back to the hotel I could feel a sense of “oh my God what have I done😬”. I walked in the room and sat down next to a six pack of 24 ounce Gatorade. My husband and daughter went to get food. I drank one of those 24 ounce Gatorades...then another...then another...then another until I’d drank them all. It still took me a few hours to pee🤯🤯🤯. I literally felt like my body was being drained of life. I had no idea that drinking only water wasn’t cutting it.
The next year I ran three of the training runs and was ready. My time was 3:31. The last time I ran it in 2011 my time was 3:15👏🏽👏🏽!! I drank gallons of Gatorade while training and throughout the races.
(After that all hell broke loose with my thyroid, iron and lady parts...so I was on the bench until I got that all straightened out😬😂).2
