I ’m in my 50’s
OSW-187 Sept. 2018
Goal Weight this Round: Get to 149.
Drink plenty of water, keep organizing/painting.
6/26–152-I’m trying to get back on the wagon. I’ve unpacked 80 boxes in the last week and got it all put away. I bought a 3 story bar cart as a joke and have used the heck out of it, loading it up and taking it throughout the house. A week ago I went to my 82 year old uncle’s and we made 3 garage cabinets; we need to make 2 more. I haven’t been exercising, but I’ve been on my feet nonstop. I am glad to be back here. 💚9 -
Thank you@grandmajackie!

06/26 181.2 My scale tricked me. Started to show a low 180 number then flipped up to this. 😝
06/27 182.4 Did this to myself. Late night binge. Partly because I didn’t have my usual snacks in the house so I didn’t have a good low calorie satisfier. And partly because it was a massive week at work and this was my “I’m done, I deserve to eat” reaction. Meal planning, grocery shopping and meal prep today!!

@musicsax and @quiltingjaine I, too have been wondering about @CamandJarvis. I sent her a message asking her to pop in and say hello. In the age of Coronavirus it is a bit of a worry. However, we all know of her big move and new job so I am hoping she is just busy busy and it is not ill health or personal relationship problems. I always enjoy her posts!4

100 Days of Weighing In ^^^^^ (Date) through (Date)
My Name is Donna, Age 60. I am 5’5” tall & I live in Northern Michigan USA
“We will encounter many defeats but we must not be defeated.” ~Maya Angelou
ENDING WEIGHT YESTERDAY: 211.0
Day 01 – 06/09 …..211.0….. Traveling today which will help get me out of the expected HOT day. So I do expect an increase on the scale tomorrow (water weight) but all will be okay. I’ll stay on top of it in the coming week. I am looking forward to some progress (finally)! Good luck everyone on this 100 !!!!
Day 02 – 06/10 …..211.0….. I’m actually pleased with this after a very long day of travel (sitting & restaurants). Usually I just drive by a restaurant sign and gain a few pounds. It’s time to work my way down now!
Day 03 – 06/11 …..211.0….. No change again. Unusual for me to hit a plateau at my higher weights. I don’t know if that is what is going on but I guess time will tell. dawnbgethealthy Congrats on hitting the 140’s. All that gardening and sacrifice is paying off (zumba too!) You continue to inspire!
Day 04 – 06/12 …..209.6….. Whew! Working hard & its paying off. Not 100% the best choices on low carb foods, but lower calories and lots of movement! Keep it up Donna!
Day 05 - 06/13 .…..209.0….. Okay then! I wasn’t perfect but I was mindful, even on such a busy day yesterday. The spring cleaning has been UnGodly awful but it has got to have an end somewhere soon! Today and tomorrow I work on painting a bedroom and prepping for new carpet. Just getting the furniture out and stored in the garage was a chore. Thank Goodness I had help!
Day 06 – 06/14 …..208.1….. Working hard & sticking to plan. Yesterday was a very disciplined day. Calories burned 3218.
Day 07 – 06/15 …..208.7 ….. Not the best food choices but kept the snacking under control. Ate bread for quick filling sandwiches and carbs don’t like me. Lots of hard work again yesterday. 3167 Calories burned. Not enough water or sleep though.
Day 08 – 06/16.…..207.6….. I stayed away from the bread (mostly) and tried to grab & go fast but less carby things and it payed off. Slightly over 3000 calories burned so that was good. Work included gardening, rigorous cleaning and lots of walking and steps. Multiple home projects are going well. Dawnbgethealthy: Yes I have been burning more than my usual calories but don’t forget that I am a much bigger gal than you right now so my burn with each step is bigger. I can’t wait to be smaller again but I’m aware that the smaller we get, the less we burn with each activity, making it harder to lose the weight. You are there now but your weight is moving too. Let’s stay strong together! Even if it’s inch by inch instead of foot by foot, you are doing fantastic, staying dedicated and inspiring me for sure!
Day 09 – 06/17 …..208.4….. I had a very serious and very embarrassing glucose drop while working with a handyman I hard for the heavy jobs around the house yesterday. I stuffed my face and recovered within 30 minutes so I could drive 20 miles round-trip to the hardware store. I ended over calorie & carb but less than a pound showed up on the scale. I hope it stops at that. Damn set-backs! Lack of willpower on some days is all the set-backs anyone ever needs. This glucose problem just plain ol’ sux!
Day 10 – 06 /18 ….208.4….. Carpet is now installed. Now, to get the furniture back in and all the curtains back on the windows (after cleaning)! Another busy day ahead. Today I may try to finally log my food again. I think it will help keep me on track with portion sizes (which is where I am going wrong right now). A very hot day expected today (92 F). No AC so I am hoping that I can sweat off a good pound in what will feel like a sauna instead of a house!
Day 11 – 06/19 …..208.4….. Holding steady but need to get this weight down. I appreciate all the concern & suggestions in regards to my glucose. It is scary when it happens and I do guzzle drinks and shovel in food (more than probably necessary) until it comes back up. In just moments, the whole day’s numbers can be ruined but I am slowly learning that the rest of my day should stay on point, even if I close out the day with numbers I am not happy with. I am getting better at NOT saying “well, today is blown so I may as well eat anything that I want”. Today I will aim for a bit more snacking (as suggested) of healthy foods that can help keep my sugar up. However, I usually start the day with my glucose too high and work at getting it down. Sometimes it just drops too quickly and to very low (and sometimes dangerous) levels so it is so challenging! Getting my weight back down is what will help the most. My medications are geared for a lower weight (not what I weight right now after the holiday gain and the corona gain). I just DON’T want to get into a medication change when I still feel I can get better numbers on the scale. I’m going to work as hard as possible to achieve my goals safely but surely. Thanks for all the support! It helps more than you know!
Day 12 – 06/20 …..208.4….. What goes up must come down! Waiting as patiently as I can. I feel bloated and sticky from the heat. I definitely need more water to replenish and renew.
Day 13 – 06 /21 .….208.3….. Ugg!
Day 14 – 06/22 …..208.2….. As long as it keeps moving downward, I guess I’ll be happy. It’s hard not being greedy. I would rather see whole numbers and not fractions for losses!
Day 15 – 06/23 …..209.8….. Two slices of pizza while finally being able to dine-in somewhere. A pound and a half later, I’m still wondering if it was worth it. I will stay strict and strong today and inch this number back down. Defeat is not an option.
Day 16 – 06/24 …..209.1 …..
Day 17 - 06 /25 …..208.5…..Working it back down.
Day 18 – 06 /26 …. 208.5….. Maintaining was not exactly the goal but I am happy for no gain after the ice cream my part-time neighbor brought over. Trying to keep it honest and on track today. So far, so good!

I could start with a bunch of excuses. Suffice to say that Jack Sparrow's pirates, my cravings, hijacked my brain. POOF I put on weight. There it is. Well, El Matador del Mar (yes, Bardem is a God) has vanquished those pirates.
I am back.

I'm in! Thank you, @GrandmaJackie!
70 year old female...5'5" ...I used to be 5'7" but arthritis hit and I lost two inches, so now that two inches is squished around my waist like the billows of a big accordion... ...Oh, well. I'll just keep working on it.
We used to walk 5 miles a day. A pinched nerve and back surgery side-lined me for about a year. Then I had hip surgery March 10th. Recovery is slow. Sure do want to be back doing 5 miles a day!
The Shelter in Place has everyone freaked. We need to remain calm and respectful of each other.

06/26 117.8 Yesterday I ended up making the pork chops on the grill and they were so good! I just kept it basic and tossed them on plain and after they cooked for a bit I brushed them with some bbq sauce and cooked it a little longer. I also threw a summer squash and a kousa squash (the light green summer squash) on the grill. I didn’t get fancy with the squash either because I mixed it in with the left over black beans which had a good amount of flavor to them.
We did an awesome soccer workout this morning. For my lunch I need to use some cottage cheese I have, so I’m thinking about having some pineapple and granola to go on top of it. I’m not sure about dinner tonight. I guess we’ll just see where the day takes us.
06/27 117.8 Yesterday was a good day all around. Food was on point and we just had an enjoyab;e night of hanging out and played a couple rounds of poker together. Today has also been solid, I started my day with some sigi’s skyrr and added lemon curd and inulin to it. I topped it with CSA berries and some granola for breakfast.
Then, I did some meal prep by making a Thai inspired kale salad with quinoa, Harkurei turnips, bell pepper, cucumber, scallion and fresh basil, cilantro and mint. It was topped with a dressing that had lime juice, soy sauce, olive oil, and honey (fish sauce optional but I left it out). Then I made some apple rhubarb muffins made with rolled oats and whole wheat pastry flour as a base. I got the idea from the cookbook “Dishing Up the Dirt”, which is one of my new favorite cookbooks. I haven’t tried the muffins but I will be momentarily after I finish the yummy kale salad! Next on the agenda is to clean out some of the basement. Oh what fun that will be! Although it will be nice when it’s clean. Have a good Saturday everyone!

I’m restarting. Sw 283 GW 160 CW 256.8
6 weeks ago I had my hip replaced after waiting 6 weeks for surgeries to resume after covid put a halt to it. I’m still going to physical therapy but my doc gave me the okay for walking in short distances . I’m glad my weight has been pretty stable though I haven’t really been counting, but starting today I’m doing mindful eating.

I'm just too danged cussed to let this thing knock me back, and ruin all the effort I have put in to get here. I am stepping up my routine, and taking control. Sheltering in place means I can fully concentrate on getting in my exercise, and preparing healthy food.
Aims:
- June: focus on maintaining and increasing my progress
- 2020: Goal is to stabilise weight around 145
- Strengthen strategies to reframe the tendency to use unhealthy snack food as a reward/treat.
- Make sure I have prepared healthy snacks available
- Cut down on eating between meals by keeping busy

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

06/26–179.0--I’m getting better at focusing on what’s good for my body. Making better choices on a regular basis now. Mentally, I seem more in control than I’ve been in a very long time. Stayed within plan on eating and got in some gardening, house cleaning, and some walking yesterday even though I was super sore from the day before’s strenuous activities.
06/27–179.6—Overexerted yesterday and went to bed super sore, so some of this may be muscle stress. Made some less than perfect choices yesterday though, as well, but calories weren’t over by much. I think, if I manage today well, this will go down tomorrow. Need to focus on more protein, less carbs, and more water today.
06/28–179.4—Was hoping for a whoosh today, but it didn’t happen. At least it’s a small move in the right direction! Made good choices yesterday and stayed active, but didn’t overexert. Still got in over 10K steps and an exercise bike session. I was hungry last night at dinner, but still kept control, so I was proud of myself for that. At least I'm not soaring higher and higher like I did during the lockdown!
